Hi all
I know that the EURO currency symbol (€) is encoded as € in HTML, but the System.Web.HttpUtility.HtmlEncode("€") doesnt encode it at all. Does anyone know why that is?
Thanks
I'm converting some URLs from a web application using ASP.NET 4.0 friendly SEO Urls:
From
<a href="profile.aspx" ></a>
To
<a href="<%= Page.GetRouteUrl("Profile", null) %>" ></a>
The problem is before conversion when I try to hit profile.aspx it would fire the application_authenticaterequest but after conversion when I try to hit Page.GetRouteUrl it would not fire the application_authenticaterequest.
Thanks
I have ploblems with Silverlight4 dragging from desktop.

but if I run my application in Debug mode it works fine.
How do i handle events such as "WebPartMoving" and "WebPartMoved" in a page conataining webparts. The webpart manager tag is added to the master page. So i added the handler to code behind:
m.WebPartMoving += new System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.WebPartMovingEventHandler(m_WebPartMoved);
but it's not working...what could be the reason?
Hi,
I am searching for the best way for track user on a web site based on asp.net.
We are using log4net to log some business actions (enter on this page, click on button, etc.). But for multiple users, log file cannot be read easily.
So I need add a property 'UserName' on the config file like this :
<conversionPattern value="%date [%thread] - %property{UserName} - %-5level - %logger - %message%newline"/>
Do you hae any idea about the way to set 'UserName' ?
thanks for your help

I've been trying to figure how whether the iPhone (either 3G or 3Gs) camera puts metadata into it's images. Anecdotally, it appears that it does (e.g., I've seen images posted on the web that included a bunch of metadata), but I can't find reference to it anywhere in the SDK documentation. So....does anyone have a definitive answer? Also, if there is metadata, how do I get at it?
Hi, I have a web application where I would like to pull user settings from a database and store them for Global access. Would it make more sense to store the data in a Singleton, or a Session object? What's the difference between the two?
Is it better to store the data as an object reference or break it up into value type objects (ints and strings)?
Thanks!
I'm using the colorbox plug in for several messages on my web page and I have one specific message that I want it to appear higher on the screen (so it won't hide the center of the page).
Is there a parameter that controls the colorbox location on load?
Thanks.
This question about web page 'inclusion' triggered my curiosity. The XML allows you to specify a reference to an 'external' portion. Can you do the same in XHTML, then?
XML example:
<!ENTITY foo SYSTEM "http://www.mydomain.com/logo.gif" NDATA GIF87A>
...
<SOMETHING>&foo;</SOMETHING>
Does such a thing exist?
Building a Rails based web application where users can upload an audio file of them speaking that then needs to be compared to another audio file for the purposes of determining how similar to voices are. Ideally I'd like to simply get a response that gives me a score of how similar they are in terms of percentage (e.g. 75% similar etc...).
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
I have a set of data in a matrix which I would like to display in my iPhone app with all of the rows and columns intact. Everything I can find on the web dealing with "tables iPhone" gives me information on UITableView, which only lets you show a list of items to the user - not an actual table in the HTML sense. What's the best way on the iPhone to display an actual table of data to the user, with column & row headings and table cells?
how can I make this menu here have the default be the "about" tab?
http://www.sohtanaka.com/web-design/examples/horizontal-subnav/
so when your mouse isnt hovering over any of them, its on the about tab?
I see code like this all over the web
var days= "Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday".split(" ");
Why do that instead of
var days = ["Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday", "Saturday", "Sunday"];
What are supported clients for an asp.net web page?
I am trying to document an asp.net website and I am unsure what I should say as far as client support.
Are there limitations for asp.net as far as browsers? I have used IE and Firefox does it not work with some of the other browsers (chrome or safari)? Should I say the client is limited to any specific OS (I would expect it to work with a Mac or a Linux box)?
Need to integrate Django with an existing authentication system. That system has it's own database, API, login/logout,edit profile web pages and cookie.
(I may have to add a few additional profile fields stored/updated locally)
What's the proper approach to substitute the out-of-the-box authentication in Django?
I have custom control with asp textbox inside.
And i need to Validate by RequiredFieldValidator my custom control on CLIENT side.
I added attribute to custom control class:
[ValidationProperty("Text")]
public class WatermarkTextBox : System.Web.UI.UserControl

I'm just diving into ruby development for a class assignment and the machines at my Uni have only got ruby 1.8.7 on them so I need to develop for that. I have found tutorials on the web for ruby = 1.9 and rspec that are really good but I haven't found anything for ruby 1.8.7 (I'm guessing it's pretty dated?). Does anyone have anything using rspec testing and has an indepth discussion on ruby 1.8.7 for me? I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks!
I am using .NET Framework and C# and working on a large project. The application compile takes forever. Currently, I don't have time to see what is going wrong. But is there anyway that if I change 2-3 files I can compile the application quickly.
It is a web application. The solution has 6-7 other projects.
I have this doubt, I've searched the web and the answers seem to be diversified. Is it better to use mysql_pconnect over mysql_connect when connecting to a database via PHP? I read that pconnect scales much better, but on the other hand, being a persistent connection... having 10 000 connections at the same time, all persistent, doesn't seem scalable to me.
Thanks in advance.
I have a web application that's branded according to the user that's currently logged in. I'd like to change the favicon of the page to be the logo of the private label, but I'm unable to find any code or any examples of how to do this. Has anybody successfully done this before?
I'm picturing having a dozen icons in a folder, and the reference to which favicon.ico file to use is just generated dynamically along with the HTML page. Thoughts?
Assume that somewhere in the web exists public git repository. I want to clone it but firstly i need to be sure what is size of it (how much objects & kbytes like in git count-objects)
Is there a way to do it?
I need to convert XML data to Java objects. What would be best practice to convert this XML data to object?
Idea is to fetch data via a web service (it doesn't use WSDL, just HTTP GET queries, so I cannot use any framework) and answers are in XML. What would be best practice to handle this situation?
