  • Mysql query, need suggestion or solution

    - by Xi Kam
    Can anyone help me, i have two tables and i need records from both the table //////////////////////////////++ Query 1 ++//////////////////////////////////// SELECT SUM(rec_issued) AS issed, regen_id, YEAR(issue_date) AS iYear, MONTH(issue_date) AS iMonth FROM `view_rec_issued` WHERE `regen_id` = 2 GROUP BY YEAR(issue_date) DESC, MONTH(issue_date) DESC ORDER BY issue_date ASC issed regen_id iYear iMonth 424 2 2011 3 4340 2 2011 4 4235 2 2011 5 10570 2 2012 2 4761 2 2012 3 5000 2 2012 4 3700 2 2012 5 3414 2 2012 6 3700 2 2012 7 2992 2 2012 8 995 2 2012 10 ![Result from Query 1][1] //////////////////////////////++ Query 2 ++//////////////////////////////////// SELECT SUM(total_redem) AS redemed, regen_id, YEAR(redemption_date) AS rYear, MONTH(redemption_date) AS rMonth FROM `recredem_month_wise` WHERE `regen_id` = 2 GROUP BY YEAR(redemption_date) DESC, MONTH(redemption_date) DESC order by redemption_date ASC redemed regen_id rYear rMonth 424 2 2011 3 260 2 2011 4 6523 2 2011 5 1070 2 2011 6 200 2 2011 10 500 2 2011 11 9750 2 2012 2 5000 2 2012 3 5500 2 2012 4 3803 2 2012 5 3700 2 2012 7 3000 2 2012 8 ![Result from Query 2][2] But i want it as - issed regen_id iYear iMonth redemed regen_id rYear rMonth 424 2 2011 3 424 2 2011 3 4340 2 2011 4 260 2 2011 4 4235 2 2011 5 6523 2 2011 5 NULL NULL NULL NULL 1070 2 2011 6 NULL NULL NULL NULL 200 2 2011 10 NULL NULL NULL NULL 500 2 2011 11 10570 2 2012 2 9750 2 2012 2 4761 2 2012 3 5000 2 2012 3 5000 2 2012 4 5500 2 2012 4 3700 2 2012 5 3803 2 2012 5 3414 2 2012 6 NULL NULL NULL NULL 3700 2 2012 7 3700 2 2012 7 2992 2 2012 8 3000 2 2012 8 995 2 2012 10 NULL NULL NULL NULL ![I want this output][3] In these table regen_id is unique and i need data as YEAR and MONTH, if in any table not have the records in perticular month and year it should retrieve zero or null. But in every record year and month should equal like this - iYear = rYear and iMonth = rMonth So we can merge both the fields - No need to show year and month twice iYear and rYear = year iMonth and rMonth = month Thank You Please look at this problem.

  • NHibernate Native SQL multiple joins

    - by Chris
    Hi all, I"m having some problems with Nhibernate and native sql. I've got an entity with alot of collections and I am doing an SQL Fulltext search on it. So when returning 100 or so entities, I dont want all collections be lazy loaded. For this I changed my SQL query: SELECT Query.* FROM (SELECT {spr.*}, {adr.*}, {adrt.*}, {cty.*}, {com.*}, {comt.*}, spft.[Rank] AS [Rak], Row_number() OVER(ORDER BY spft.[Rank] DESC) AS rownum FROM customer spr INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE ( customerfulltext , computedfulltextindex , '" + parsedSearchTerm + @"' ) AS spft ON spr.customerid = spft.[Key] LEFT JOIN [Address] adr ON adr.customerid = spr.customerid INNER JOIN [AddressType] adrt ON adrt.addresstypeid = adr.addresstypeid INNER JOIN [City] cty ON cty.cityid = adr.cityid LEFT JOIN [Communication] com ON com.customerid = spr.customerid INNER JOIN [CommunicationType] comt ON comt.communicationtypeid = com.communicationtypeid) as Query ORDER BY Query.[Rank] DESC This is how I setup the query: var items = GetCurrentSession() .CreateSQLQuery(query) .AddEntity("spr", typeof(Customer)) .AddJoin("adr", "spr.addresses") .AddJoin("adrt", "adr.Type") .AddJoin("cty", "adr.City") .AddJoin("com", "spr.communicationItems") .AddJoin("comt", "com.Type") .List<Customer>(); What happens now is, that the query returns customers twice (or more), I assume this is because of the joins since for each customer address, communicationItem (e.g. phone, email), a new sql row is returned. In this case I thought I could use the DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer. var items = GetCurrentSession() .CreateSQLQuery(query) .AddEntity("spr", typeof(Customer)) .AddJoin("adr", "spr.addresses") .AddJoin("adrt", "adr.Type") .AddJoin("cty", "adr.City") .AddJoin("com", "spr.communicationItems") .AddJoin("comt", "com.Type") .SetResultTransformer(new DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()) .List<Customer>(); Doing so an exception is thrown. This is because I try to list customers .List<Customer>() but the transformer returns only entities of the last join added. E.g. in the case above, the entity with alias "comt" is returned when doing .List() instead of .List(). If I would switch last join with the join alias "cty", then the transformer returns a list of cities only... Anyone knows how I can return a clean list of customers in this case?

  • How (and if) to write a single-consumer queue using the task parallel library?

    - by Eric
    I've heard a bunch of podcasts recently about the TPL in .NET 4.0. Most of them describe background activities like downloading images or doing a computation, using tasks so that the work doesn't interfere with a GUI thread. Most of the code I work on has more of a multiple-producer / single-consumer flavor, where work items from multiple sources must be queued and then processed in order. One example would be logging, where log lines from multiple threads are sequentialized into a single queue for eventual writing to a file or database. All the records from any single source must remain in order, and records from the same moment in time should be "close" to each other in the eventual output. So multiple threads or tasks or whatever are all invoking a queuer: lock( _queue ) // or use a lock-free queue! { _queue.enqueue( some_work ); _queueSemaphore.Release(); } And a dedicated worker thread processes the queue: while( _queueSemaphore.WaitOne() ) { lock( _queue ) { some_work = _queue.dequeue(); } deal_with( some_work ); } It's always seemed reasonable to dedicate a worker thread for the consumer side of these tasks. Should I write future programs using some construct from the TPL instead? Which one? Why?

  • Aggregation, Association and Composition (examples of code given)

    - by Bukocen
    I have such a simple example: public class Order { private ArrayList<Product> orders = new ArrayList<Product>(); public void add(Product p) { orders.add(p); } } Is it aggregation or composition? I guess it's composition, because orders will be delated after delete of Order, right? Unfortunately it was a task and answer was different;/ Do you know why? second problem: public class Client extends Person { String adress = ""; Orders orders = new Orders(); public Client(String n, String sn) { name = n; surName = sn; } public String getAddress() { return adress; } public Orders getOrders() { return this.orders; } } Is it Association between Client and Orders? My teacher told me that this is association, but I was wondering why it's not a aggregation/composition - he told me that aggregation or composition occur only when one class contains few instances of different class - is that right? I guess not, because e.g. car contains ONE wheel and it's aggregation I guess? What type of relation is that and why? Greetings

  • filtering search results with php

    - by fl3x7
    Hello, Cant really find any useful information on this through Google so hope someone here with some knowledge can help. I have a set of results which are pulled from a multi dimensional array. Currently the array key is the price of a product whilst the item contains another array which contains all the product details. key=>Item(name=>test, foo=>bar) So currently when I list the items I just order by the key, smallest first and it lists the products smallest price first. However I want to build on this so that when a user sees the results they can choose other ordering options like list all products by a name, certain manufacturer, colour, x ,y ,z etc etc from a drop down box(or something similar) This is where I need some guidance. Im just not sure how to go about it or best practise or anything. The only way I can think of is to order all the items by the nested array eg by the name, manufacturer etc. but how do I do that in PHP? Hope you understand what im trying to achieve(if not just ask). Any help on this with ideas, approaches or examples would be great. Thanks for reading p.s Im using PHP5

  • $_POST Variable Detected in Chrome but not in Firefox

    - by user1707973
    I am using 2 images in a form to sort out query results from the database. The form is submitted using the POST method. When i click on the first image, the query results have to be sorted in ascending order, and when i click on the second, the results have to be sorted in the descending order. This is the code for the form: <form name="" action="" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="typep" value="price" /> <input type="image" name="sort" value="asc" src="images/asc-ar.png" /> <input type="image" name="sort" value="desc" src="images/dsc-ar.png" /> </form> Now this is the code for checking if the $_REQUEST['sort'] variable is set and therefore whether sorting is required or not. if ($_REQUEST['sort'] != "") { $sort = $_REQUEST['sort']; $typep = $_REQUEST['typep']; //query to be executed depending on values of $sort and $typep } Firefox does detect the $_REQUEST['typep'] variable but not the $_REQUEST['sort'] one. This works perfectly in Chrome though. When i test the site in Firefox, it doesn't detect the $_REQUEST['sort'] variable and therefore the if condition evaluates to false and the search results don't get sorted.

  • Strategies for testing reactive, asynchronous code

    - by Arne
    I am developing a data-flow oriented domain-specific language. To simplify, let's just look at Operations. Operations have a number of named parameters and can be asked to compute their result using their current state. To decide when an Operation should produce a result, it gets a Decision that is sensitive to which parameter got a value from who. When this Decision decides that it is fulfilled, it emits a Signal using an Observer. An Accessor listens for this Signal and in turn calls the Result method of the Operation in order to multiplex it to the parameters of other Operations. So far, so good, nicely decoupled design, composable and reusable and, depending on the specific Observer used, as asynchronous as you want it to be. Now here's my problem: I would love to start coding actual Tests against this design. But with an asynchronous Observer... how should I know that the whole signal-and-parameters-plumbing worked? Do I need to use time outs while waiting for a Signal in order to say that it was emitted successfully or not? How can I be, formally, sure that the Signal will not be emitted if I just wait a little longer (halting problem? ;-)) And, how can I be sure that the Signal was emitted because it was me who set a parameter, and not another Operation? It might well be that my test comes to early and sees a Signal that was emitted way before my setting a parameter caused a Decision to emit it. Currently, I guess the trivial cases are easy to test, but as soon as I want to test complex many-to-many - situations between operations I must resort to hoping that the design Just Works (tm)...

  • Smarty/PHP loop not being passed to IE(Pc) or Chrome/FF(Mac)

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    Hi, I've been working on a site that has a lot of PHP/Smarty involved, I've been asked to re-skin a webstore checkout process, but during this we've discovered this issue. This particular quirk is one part of a tax calculation that doesn't get sent to the browser in IE for PC and Chrome/FF for the Mac. It's NOT in the output source in the browsers, but is in FF, Chrome and Opera on the PC. Here is the code that doesn't "work:" {foreach $cart.taxes.$currency as $tax} <div id="subTotalCaption2"><p style="width:100px;">{$tax.name_lang}:</p></div> <div id="taxAmount2"><p>{$tax.formattedAmount}</p></div> {/foreach} It's not a CSS issue as if you go all the way through the checkout process and then back to the order page (Not using the back button, using the on-site links) it works. There is another calculation on the last page of the process that does the same thing: {foreach from=$order.taxes.$currency item="tax"} <tr> <td colspan="{$colspan}" class="tax">{$tax.name_lang}:</td> <td>{$tax.formattedAmount}</td> </tr> {/foreach} I guess my question is what could cause this to not be read (Parsed?) in IE and the mac but other browsers do it fine on the PC. Thanks.

  • How can I create an array of random numbers in C++

    - by Nick
    Instead of The ELEMENTS being 25 is there a way to randomly generate a large array of elements....10000, 100000, or even 1000000 elements and then use my insertion sort algorithms. I am trying to have a large array of elements and use insertion sort to put them in order and then also in reverse order. Next I used clock() in the time.h file to figure out the run time of each algorithm. I am trying to test with a large amount of numbers. #define ELEMENTS 25 void insertion_sort(int x[],int length); void insertion_sort_reverse(int x[],int length); int main() { clock_t tStart = clock(); int B[ELEMENTS]={4,2,5,6,1,3,17,14,67,45,32,66,88, 78,69,92,93,21,25,23,71,61,59,60,30}; int x; cout<<"Not Sorted: "<<endl; for(x=0;x<ELEMENTS;x++) cout<<B[x]<<endl; insertion_sort(B,ELEMENTS); cout <<"Sorted Normal: "<<endl; for(x=0;x<ELEMENTS;x++) cout<< B[x] <<endl; insertion_sort_reverse(B,ELEMENTS); cout <<"Sorted Reverse: "<<endl; for(x=0;x<ELEMENTS;x++) cout<< B[x] <<endl; double seconds = clock() / double(CLK_TCK); cout << "This program has been running for " << seconds << " seconds." << endl; system("pause"); return 0; }

  • Java: "cannot find symbol" error of a String[] defined within a while-loop

    - by David
    Here's the relevant code: public static String[] runTeams (String CPUcolor) { boolean z = false ; //String[] a = new String[6] ; boolean CPU = false ; while (z == false) { while (CPU==false) { String[] a = assignTeams () ; printOrder (a) ; for (int i = 1; i<a.length; i++) { if (a[i].equals(CPUcolor)) CPU = true ; } if (CPU==false) { System.out.println ("ERROR YOU NEED TO INCLUDE THE COLOR OF THE CPU IN THE TURN ORDER") ; } } System.out.println ("is this turn order correct? (Y/N)") ; String s = getIns () ; while (!((s.equals ("y")) || (s.equals ("Y")) || (s.equals ("n")) || (s.equals ("N")))) { System.out.println ("try again") ; s = getIns () ; } if (s.equals ("y") || s.equals ("Y") ) z = true ; } return a ; } the error i get is: Risk.java:416: cannot find symbol symbol : variable a location: class Risk return a ; ^ Why did i get this error? It seems that a is clearly defined in the line String[] a = assignTeams () ; and if anything is used by the lineprintOrder (a) ;` it seems to me that if the symbol a really couldn't be found then the compiler should blow up there and not at the return statment. (also the method assignTeams returns an array of Strings.)

  • What are the potential problems with exposing the Facebook API secret?

    - by genehack
    I'm writing a little web utility that posts status updates to Twitter and/or Facebook. That involved creating 'applications' with both those services in order to get API keys and 'secrets'. My question is how protected I really need to keep those secrets -- in order for this to work at all, you seem to need the secret to interact with the authentication part of the service to grant the app access to your account and/or grant it permission to post updates on your behalf. Facebook's documentation says to protect the secret, but at least one other Facebook utility distributes the API key and secret in the source. It's important to note: this isn't your standard Facebook 'application' that runs within the context of Facebook, nor is it a standard "desktop"-style compiled app -- it's a web-based application intended to be run on your own web server. The audience for this is probably small and somewhat more sophisticated than average -- so, one technical alternative would be to require people to obtain their own API key and secret to use the app. That seems like a lot of work, however, and a fairly large barrier to entry to anybody using this. Anybody know or have any insight on what sort of trouble I'm letting myself in for if I put both the secrets and the API keys in the config for my app and check it into Github for all the world to see?

  • Mysterious combination

    - by pstone
    I decided to learn concurrency and wanted to find out in how many ways instructions from two different processes could overlap. The code for both processes is just a 10 iteration loop with 3 instructions performed in each iteration. I figured out the problem consisted of leaving X instructions fixed at a point and then fit the other X instructions from the other process between the spaces taking into account that they must be ordered (instruction 4 of process B must always come before instruction 20). I wrote a program to count this number, looking at the results I found out that the solution is n Combination k, where k is the number of instructions executed throughout the whole loop of one process, so for 10 iterations it would be 30, and n is k*2 (2 processes). In other words, n number of objects with n/2 fixed and having to fit n/2 among the spaces without the latter n/2 losing their order. Ok problem solved. No, not really. I have no idea why this is, I understand that the definition of a combination is, in how many ways can you take k elements from a group of n such that all the groups are different but the order in which you take the elements doesn't matter. In this case we have n elements and we are actually taking them all, because all the instructions are executed ( n C n). If one explains it by saying that there are 2k blue (A) and red (B) objects in a bag and you take k objects from the bag, you are still only taking k instructions when 2k instructions are actually executed. Can you please shed some light into this? Thanks in advance.

  • How is it possible my array is broken?

    - by user1812765
    I have this piece of code: public lot merge (lot otherlot){ wafer[] mWaferarray = new wafer[16]; byte[] bytearray = new byte[16]; wafer resultwafer = new wafer(bytearray); wafer w1; wafer w2; int i; int[][] assignmentmatrix = HungarianAlgorithm.computeAssignments(convertinttofloat (solutionmatrix(otherlot))); for (i=0; i != assignmentmatrix.length ;i++){ w1 = otherlot.getWaferarray()[assignmentmatrix[i][0]]; w2 = getWaferarray()[assignmentmatrix[i][1]]; resultwafer.setWafer(w1.wafercompare(w2)); mWaferarray[i] = resultwafer; mWaferarray[i].print(); } System.out.println("HERE\n"); mWaferarray[5].toString(); resultlot = new lot(mWaferarray); resultlot.print();// Problem occurs here. return resultlot; } As you can see I create an array of wafers (selfdefined class). Then I fill this up with new wafers. When I print this array (mWaferarray[i].print()) it gives me the wanted results. But when I go out of the "for"-loop the array is broken and it is as if the last item I add to mWaferarray fills it up (the entire array, 16 long, is filled with this wafer). So if run this program this is what I get: 1011110010111100 0011011111111110 0111110111101101 1010111001101111 0110110111101111 1010110101111010 1010110111011110 1011111010111100 1111110011101110 0111111111011011 1111111111011010 1101111011111010 1010110101011110 0101111011011010 1011111011011000 0101111011011010 HERE 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 0101111011011010 As you can see it is as if the array is filled with the last wafer. I have been looking at this for some time now, I hope you guy can help me out. Thx in advance PS: my print functions are written like this: void print(){ int j; for (j=0; j != waferarray.length ;j++){ waferarray[j].print(); } } EDIT: added code for lot this is the beginning of the lot class public class lot { wafer[] waferarray = new wafer[16]; lot resultlot; public lot (wafer wafer1,wafer wafer2,wafer wafer3,wafer wafer4, wafer wafer5,wafer wafer6,wafer wafer7,wafer wafer8, wafer wafer9,wafer wafer10,wafer wafer11,wafer wafer12, wafer wafer13,wafer wafer14,wafer wafer15,wafer wafer16){ waferarray[0] = wafer1; waferarray[1] = wafer2; waferarray[2] = wafer3; waferarray[3] = wafer4; waferarray[4] = wafer5; waferarray[5] = wafer6; waferarray[6] = wafer7; waferarray[7] = wafer8; waferarray[8] = wafer9; waferarray[9] = wafer10; waferarray[10] = wafer11; waferarray[11] = wafer12; waferarray[12] = wafer13; waferarray[13] = wafer14; waferarray[14] = wafer15; waferarray[15] = wafer16; } public lot (wafer[] thiswaferarray){ waferarray = thiswaferarray; }

  • Update MySQl table onDrop?

    - by dougvt
    Hi all. I am writing a PHP/MySQL application (using CodeIgniter) that uses some jQuery functionality for dragging table rows. I have a table in which the user can drag rows to the desired order (kind of a queue for which I need to preserve the rank of each row). I've been trying to figure out how to (and whether I should) update the database each time the user drops a row, in order to simplify the UI and avoid a "Save" button. I have the jQuery working and can send a serialized list back to the server onDrop, but is it good design practice to run an update query this often? The table will usually have 30-40 rows max, but if the user drags row 1 far down the list, then potentially all the rows would need to be updated to update the rank field. I've been wondering whether to send a giant query to the server, to loop through the rows in PHP and update each row with its own Update query, to send a small serialized list to a stored procedure to let the server do all the work, or perhaps a better method I haven't considered. I've read that stored procedures in MySQL are not very efficient and use a separate process for each call. Any advice as to the right solution here? Thanks very much for your help!

  • Log4j Logging to the Wrong Directory

    - by John
    I have a relatively complex log4j.xml configuration file with many appenders. Some machines the application runs on need a separate log directory, which is actually a mapped network drive. To get around this, we embed a system property as part of the filename in order to specify the directory. Here is an example: The "${user.dir}" part is set as a system property on each system, and is normally set to the root directory of the application. On some systems, this location is not the root of the application. The problem is that there is always one appender where this is not set, and the file appears not to write to the mapped drive. The rest of the appenders do write to the correct location per the system property. As a unit test, I set up our QA lab to hard-code the values for the appender above, and it worked: however, a different appender will then append to the wrong file. The mis-logged file is always the same for a given configuration: it is not a random file each time. My best educated guess is that there is a HashMap somewhere containing these appenders, and for some reason, the first one retrieved from the map does not have the property set. Our application does have custom system properties loading: the main() method loads a properties file and calls into System.setProperties(). My first instinct was to check the static initialization order, and to ensure the controller class with the main method does not call into log4j (directly or indirectly) before setting the properties just in case this was interfering with log4j's own initialization. Even removing all vestiges of log4j from the initialization logic, this error condition still occurs.

  • Keeping socket open to send files on timer calls?

    - by user3704768
    I'm writing a program that requires an image to be fetched from a remote server every 10 milliseconds or so, as that's how often the image is updated. My current method calls a timer to grab the image, but it encounters Socket Closed errors all the time, and sometimes does not work at all. • Find existence of number in a sorted list in constant time? (Interview question)

    - by Rich
    I'm studying for upcoming interviews and have encountered this question several times (written verbatim) Find or determine non existence of a number in a sorted list of N numbers where the numbers range over M, M N and N large enough to span multiple disks. Algorithm to beat O(log n); bonus points for constant time algorithm. First of all, I'm not sure if this is a question with a real solution. My colleagues and I have mused over this problem for weeks and it seems ill formed (of course, just because we can't think of a solution doesn't mean there isn't one). A few questions I would have asked the interviewer are: Are there repeats in the sorted list? What's the relationship to the number of disks and N? One approach I considered was to binary search the min/max of each disk to determine the disk that should hold that number, if it exists, then binary search on the disk itself. Of course this is only an order of magnitude speedup if the number of disks is large and you also have a sorted list of disks. I think this would yield some sort of O(log log n) time. As for the M N hint, perhaps if you know how many numbers are on a disk and what the range is, you could use the pigeonhole principle to rule out some cases some of the time, but I can't figure out an order of magnitude improvement. Also, "bonus points for constant time algorithm" makes me a bit suspicious. Any thoughts, solutions, or relevant history of this problem?

  • cakephp find('list') - problem using

    - by MOFlint
    I'm trying to get an array to poplulate a Counties select. If I use find('all') I can get the data but this array needs flattening to use in the view with $form-input($counties). If I use find('list') I can't seem to get the right array - which is simple array of county names. What I have tried is this: $ops=array( 'conditions' => array( 'display' => '!=0', 'TO_DAYS(event_finish) >= TO_DAYS(NOW())' ), 'fields' => 'DISTINCT venue_county', 'order' => 'venue_county DESC' ); $this->set('counties', $this->Event->find('list',$ops)); but the SQL this generates is: SELECT Event.id, DISTINCT Event.venue_county FROM events AS Event WHERE display = 1 AND TO_DAYS(event_finish) = TO_DAYS(NOW()) ORDER BY venue_county DESC which generates an error because it first inserts the Event.id field in the query - which is not wanted and causes the error. In my database I have a single table for Events which includes the venue address and I don't really want to create another table for address. What options should I be using efor the find('list') call?

  • Given a vector of maximum 10 000 natural and distinct numbers, find 4 numbers(a, b, c, d) such that

    - by king_kong
    Hi, I solved this problem by following a straightforward but not optimal algorithm. I sorted the vector in descending order and after that substracted numbers from max to min to see if I get a + b + c = d. Notice that I haven't used anywhere the fact that elements are natural, distinct and 10 000 at most. I suppose these details are the key. Does anyone here have a hint over an optimal way of solving this? Thank you in advance! Later Edit: My idea goes like this: '<<quicksort in descending order>>' for i:=0 to count { // after sorting, loop through the array int d := v[i]; for j:=i+1 to count { int dif1 := d - v[j]; int a := v[j]; for k:=j+1 to count { if (v[k] > dif1) continue; int dif2 := dif1 - v[k]; b := v[k]; for l:=k+1 to count { if (dif2 = v[l]) { c := dif2; return {a, b, c, d} } } } } } What do you think?(sorry for the bad indentation)

  • MySql: Is it reasonable to use 'view' or I would better denormalize my DB?

    - by Budda
    There is 'team_sector' table with following fields: Id, team_id, sect_id, size, level It contains few records for each 'team' entity (referenced with 'team_id' field). Each record represent sector of team's stadium (totally 8 sectors). Now it is necessary to implement few searches: by overall stadium size (SUM(size)); the best quality (SUM(level)/COUNT(*)). I could create query something like this: SELECT TS.team_id, SUM(TS.size) as OverallSize, SUM(TS.Level)/COUNT(TS.Id) AS QualityLevel FROM team_sector GROUP BY team_id ORDER BY OverallSize DESC / ORDER BY QualityLevel DESC But my concern here is that calculation for each team will be done each time on query performed. It is not too big overhead (at least now), but I would like to avoid performance issues later. I see 2 options here. The 1st one is to create 2 additional fields in 'team' table (for example) and store there OverallSize and QualityLevel fields. If information if 'sector' table is changed - update those table too (probably would be good to do that with triggers, as sector table doesn't change too often). The 2nd option is to create a view that will provide required data. The 2nd option seems much easier for me, but I don't have a lot of experience/knowledge of work with views. Q1: What is the best option from your perspective here and why? Probably you could suggest other options? Q2: Can I create view in such way that it will do calculations rarely (at least once per day)? If yes - how? Q3: Is it reasonable to use triggers for such purpose (1st option). P.S. MySql 5.1 is used, overall number of teams is around 1-2 thousand, overall number of records in sector table - overall 6-8 thousand. I understand, those numbers are pretty small, but I would like to implement the best practice here.

  • Problem Initializing an Array Of Structs

  • Is there a way to update the height of a single UITableViewCell, without recalculating the height for every cell?

    - by Chris Vasselli
    I have a UITableView with a few different sections. One section contains cells that will resize as a user types text into a UITextView. Another section contains cells that render HTML content, for which calculating the height is relatively expensive. Right now when the user types into the UITextView, in order to get the table view to update the height of the cell, I call [self.tableView beginUpdates]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; However, this causes the table to recalculate the height of every cell in the table, when I really only need to update the single cell that was typed into. Not only that, but instead of recalculating the estimated height using tableView:estimatedHeightForRowAtIndexPath:, it calls tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath: for every cell, even those not being displayed. Is there any way to ask the table view to update just the height of a single cell, without doing all of this unnecessary work? Update I'm still looking for a solution to this. As suggested, I've tried using reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:, but it doesn't look like this will work. Calling reloadRowsAtIndexPaths: with even a single row will still cause heightForRowAtIndexPath: to be called for every row, even though cellForRowAtIndexPath: will only be called for the row you requested. In fact, it looks like any time a row is inserted, deleted, or reloaded, heightForRowAtIndexPath: is called for every row in the table cell. I've also tried putting code in willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath: to calculate the height just before a cell is going to appear. In order for this to work, I would need to force the table view to re-request the height for the row after I do the calculation. Unfortunately, calling [self.tableView beginUpdates]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; from willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath: causes an index out of bounds exception deep in UITableView's internal code. I guess they don't expect us to do this. I can't help but feel like it's a bug in the SDK that in response to [self.tableView endUpdates] it doesn't call estimatedHeightForRowAtIndexPath: for cells that aren't visible, but I'm still trying to find some kind of workaround. Any help is appreciated.

  • How specific do I get in BDD scenarios?

    - by CodeSpelunker
    Take two different ways of stating the same behavior. Option A: Given a customer has 50 items in their shopping cart When they check out Then they will receive a 10% discount on their order Option B: Given a customer has a high volume of items in their shopping cart When they check out Then they will receive a high volume discount on their order The former is far more specific. If someone has some question about exactly when a customer gets a high volume discount or how much to give them, reading this scenario makes it very clear. Serving the purposes of documenting the behavior, it's about as specific as it can be, although any change in those values will require changing the scenario. The second is more generalized and doesn't have the clarity of the first. Automating it would require incorporating the values "50" and "10" in the step implementations. On the other hand, the scenario captures the core business need: a high volume customer gets a discount. If we later decide to use "40" and "15", the scenario doesn't have to change because the core business need hasn't really changed (though the step implementation would). Also, the term "high volume customer" communicates something about why we're giving them the discount. So, which is better? Rather, under what circumstances should I favor the former or the latter?

  • php in_array() inside a foreach

    - by 432skronker
    I am having issues with using in_array() inside a foreach loop. Not sure if this is even possible or if I am doing something ridiculous where there are better ways. What I want to do is go through all the items and if their item id matches one thats in the array, return true and add the price of the item to a runninng total. $price = 0; $result = false; $array = array(1533, 2343, 2333); foreach($order['items'] as $item){ if(in_array($item['Item'], $array)){ $result = true; $price += $item['Price']; } } **UPDATED** Here is the order array [items] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [Item] => 139957 [OrderID] => 16025 [SizeID] => 24 [Price] => 46.00 ) [1] => Array ( [Item] => 2343 [OrderID] => 16025 [SizeID] => 12 [Price] => 32.00 ) ) [data] => Array ( )
