  • pushd - handling multiple drives from cmd

    - by user673600
I'm trying to figure out how to install some programs where the components reside on two different drives on a networked path. However whenever I use pushd \\xyz\c$ I get a mapped drive which means I cannot use any knowledge of using for example c:\install e:\mycomponents.dll. Is there anyway that I can do this once I have used the pushd command? How can I ensure that I keep the drives the same for example. I'm in the process of installing services. So it seems that when I install the service, I need to keep the path as the same as the actual location of the .exe which means that I'm running into issues. Is there a way to simply use pushd but at the sametime not actually map drives? As when installing services, when I've been using net use, I've found that there is an issue with installing on drives which are mapped, as the service whilst can be installed doesn't find the actual .exe when it comes to starting up the service. So to expand this, is there a way to solve this using net use or pushd or a combination that lets me install a service as such: c:\windows\..\installutil e:\mynode? So to clarify, I need to somehow be able to see both drives on the remote machine by their relative drives i.e. E:\ and C:\ - if I use a mapped drive letter then it means installing service is a pain because I cannot use the path.

  • What is the most efficient way to list all of the files in a directory (including sub-directories)?

    - by prometheus
I am writing a servlet which will examine a directory on the server (external to the web container), and recursively search for certain files (by certain files, I mean files that are of a certain extension as well as a certain naming convention). Once these files are found, the servlet responds with a long list of all of the found files (including the full path to the files). My problem is that there are so many files and directories that my servlet goes extremely slow. I was wondering if there was a best practice or existing servlet for this type of problem? Would it be more efficient to simply compile the entire list of files and do the filtering via js/jquery on the client side?

  • PHP/Apache Deny folder access to user but not to script

    - by Piero
Hey all, So I have this php web app, and one of my folder contains some files that can be downloaded. I have a download script that modifies the headers, in order to always offer a download link. (instead of showing a picture for example, when you click on a link, a download box pops out) Right now, if you enter a url like: http://www.mywebsite.com/content/ You get the listing of all the downloadable files, and of course, you can just download them all, without going through the website interface. Personally, I don't think it's a problem, since I often use downthemall or other downloading tool, and this type of access is a great time saver.... But of course my company does not think so :-p They want people to use the interface in order to view the Ads... Would they be a way, maybe with a protected .htaccess, to leave the folder access to my download script, but deny access to the users...? I hope I am making sense and you know what I mean :) All help/remarks appreciated!

  • DLL configuration file in asp.net site

    - by Tominator
Hi, I've made a .net 2.0 librabry project, that results in a dll. I've made an app.config file in my project, with settings used in the dll, with the intention that they can be changed later. I'm attempting to use the dll in an asp.net web application now, so I made the reference to my other project's output, and I see that the dll is copied over to the site's bin folder, and everything works. However, the configuration file is not copied. When I manually copy the app.config and rename it to myDll.config, it has no influence. The contents of the config file is approximately this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <configSections> <sectionGroup name="applicationSettings" type="System.Configuration.ApplicationSettingsGroup, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" > <section name="myDLL.My.MySettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" requirePermission="false" /> </sectionGroup> </configSections> <applicationSettings> <myDLL.My.MySettings> <setting name="myDLL_webservice_Service" serializeAs="String"> <value>https://myhost/Service.asmx</value> </setting> <setting name="ID" serializeAs="String"> <value>6</value> </setting> </myDLL.My.MySettings> </applicationSettings> </configuration> And I use its settings in the dll with this (vb.net code): Private _id As Long = My.Settings.ID How can I put my config information somewhere so it can be used? In the web.config of the site application? That has only the appSettings section, and it uses the syntax. It doesn't appear to work though. In a custom file format that I create and use? Not that pretty..

  • Modifying resource contents of a running executable

    - by mrwoik
All, I store my application settings in a resource. When my program first loads, I read the specified resource using WinAPI. I then parse the retrieved byte data. This works flawlessly for me. Now let's say that a user alters a setting in my application. He/she checks a checkbox control. I would like to save the updated setting to my resource. However, it seems that my call to UpdateResource will not work while my application is running. I can't modify my resource data even though it is the same size. First, is it possible to modify a running image's resource data? Second, if that is not possible, what alternatives do I have for storing settings internally within my application? NOTE: I must have the settings within my running executable. They cannot be on the harddrive or in the registry. Please don't even suggest that as an option.

  • PHP issue json_decode echo array

    - by dfdf
    <?php $string = file_get_contents("http://www.reddit.com/r/news.json"); $array = json_decode($string, true); echo $array['data'][0]['children'][0]['data'][0]['title'][0]; ?> I've got a problem- the code doesn't echo anything. I'm kinda new to json_decode, so any help is appreciated :-) Edit: As a response to a comment, here's what print_r results to: Array ( [kind] => Listing [data] => Array ( [modhash] => [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [kind] => t3 [data] => Array ( [domain] => syracuse.com [banned_by] => [media_embed] => Array ( ) [subreddit] => news [selftext_html] => [selftext] => [likes] => [secure_media] => [link_flair_text] => [id] => 1qdtqr [secure_media_embed] => Array ( ) [clicked] => [stickied] => [author] => cadencehz [media] => [score] => 1552 [approved_by] => [over_18] => [hidden] => [thumbnail] => [subreddit_id] => t5_2qh3l [edited] => [link_flair_css_class] => [author_flair_css_class] => [downs] => 978 [saved] => [is_self] => [permalink] => /r/news/comments/1qdtqr/thousands_defend_grocery_store_employee_with/ [name] => t3_1qdtqr [created] => 1384215998 [url] => http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2013/11/thousands_come_to_defense_of_clay_wegmans_employee_with_aspergers_syndrome_after.html#incart_m-rpt-2 [author_flair_text] => [title] => Thousands defend grocery store employee with Asperger's syndrome after customer yells at him for being too slow [created_utc] => 1384187198 [ups] => 2530 [num_comments] => 401 [visited] => [num_reports] => [distinguished] => ) ) [1] => Array ( [kind] => t3 [data] => Array ( [domain] => bostonherald.com [banned_by] => [media_embed] => Array ( ) [subreddit] => news [selftext_html] => [selftext] => [likes] => [secure_media] => [link_flair_text] => [id] => 1qddl6 [secure_media_embed] => Array ( ) [clicked] => [stickied] => [author] => boxofrain [media] => [score] => 2086 [approved_by] => [over_18] => [hidden] => [thumbnail] => [subreddit_id] => t5_2qh3l [edited] => [link_flair_css_class] => [author_flair_css_class] => [downs] => 2556 [saved] => [is_self] => [permalink] => /r/news/comments/1qddl6/motorcycle_stolen_in_1961_found_is_recovered_and/ [name] => t3_1qddl6 [created] => 1384199801 [url] => http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/offbeat_news/2013/11/man_glad_stolen_motorcycle_found_after_46_years [author_flair_text] => [title] => Motorcycle stolen in 1961 found is recovered and will be returned to it 73 year old owner.   • Proper permission and directoy location for Git Version Control

    - by CitadelCSAlum
I am using Git Version Control on an remote server and I have set up a repository that multiple people will be using to push/fetch from. I have put the repo under /srv/subdir/git/.git I have been experiencing problem after problem it seems like. a) Is this location suitable for handling a project that will need to be accessed/modified by multiple developers and a designer? Or is there a better location? b)Do I need to modify the permissions on the subdir/ and git/ directories in order to allow remote access? If I do what is the appropriate permissions I should allow? I know this is a faily long request/question, but unfortunately like many other topics with well covered documentation, documentation does not always cover best practices. I would appreciate anybodies advice and suggestions? Thanks

  • PHP file_get_contents() behaves differently to browser.

    - by DaveG
I'm trying to download the contents of a web page using PHP. When I issue the command: $f = file_get_contents("http://mobile.mybustracker.co.uk/mobile.php?searchMode=2"); It returns a page that reports that the server is down. Yet when I paste the same URL into my browser I get the expected page. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Does file_get_contents transmit any headers that differentiate it from a browser request?
