  • Copying the bitmap contents of a UIView's context to that of another UIView

    - by Joonas Trussmann
Basically what I want to do is copy the already rendered content (a PDF drawn into the UIView's graphics context using CGContextDrawPDFPage()) onto a similar UIView, without having to re render the PDF. The idea is, that I'd then be able to perform an animated transform on the UIView and later re render the PDF with more accuracy. For both UIViews I'm using a larger-than-screen CATiledLayer to make it easier to rerender the PDF once the user zooms in, if that makes any difference. Any tips? I'm kind of lost here.

I don't know what wrong with this code but everytime when I run the app, after the Menu is shown, the app crash. NSString * path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"tung" ofType:@"doc"]; UIDocumentInteractionController *docController = [UIDocumentInteractionController interactionControllerWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path]]; docController.delegate = self; //[docController presentPreviewAnimated:YES]; CGRect rect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 300, 300); [docController presentOptionsMenuFromRect:rect inView:self.view animated:YES]; Error I got: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSGenericException', reason: '-[UIPopoverController dealloc] reached while popover is still visible.' What should I do now ?

  • Can I center a UIToolbar item?

    - by Ben
I am putting a label on a UIToolbar (per this tip: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/333441/adding-a-uilabel-to-a-uitoolbar). But the toolbar has a button on the left side, and so flexible spaces throw the label off the center, which is where I'd like it to be. Can I somehow center this toolbar item so that it remains centered in the toolbar? (Already tried balancing the button with a dummy fixed space, no dice.) Thanks!

  • JQTOUCH - Anytime loading occurs, add a loading class?

    - by nobosh
Hi, I'm using JQTOUCH and in JQTOUCH several of the links are being loading via AJAX and then sliding in. The problem is that there is no loading indication provided to users. I'd like a way to add a Loading class with an AJAX spinner, when ever the an ajax call is loading, and have the class removed when the loading is done, and the page is displayed. Any ideas?

  • What causes this error? "CALayer position contains NaN: [240 nan]"

    - by Kevlar
I've seen this happen whenever i rotate a screen that has a UITableView on it. I've found out that it happens inbetween the willRotate and didRotate method calls in UIViewController My co-workers have seen it in other spots as well, usually around rotation. It hadnt started happening until very recently, and we're stumped as to how we should deal with it (google searches don't turn up the error message in its exact form). Has anyone else encountered this that knows what to do about it?

  • UISearchBar in a UITableView

    - by petert
I'm trying to mimic the behaviour of a table view like one in the iPod app for Artists - it's a sectioned table view with a section index on the right and with a search bar at the top, but initially hidden when view shown. I am using sdk 3.1.2 and IB, so simply dragged a UISearchDisplayController in to my NIB - it does wire everything up ready for searching. The problem starts because I'm adding the UISearchBar in to the first section of the UITableView, because if I understand correctly I must do this so I can jump to the search bar by touching the search icon in the section index directly? When the table view appears I see the search bar but it has resized and I now have a white block behind the section index at the top. It does'nt take the color of the UISearchBar's surround which interestingly is different to that shown in Interface Builder. Searching around, I did find a tip to add a small navigation bar and a UISearchBar in a UIView, then add this to the table view cell - this works.. BUT the color of the navigation bar's background is what you'd expect normally (gray), not the different color as noted above?! More interesting, if I click the search bar to start a search, then click Cancel, all is fixed!!! The background along the whole tableview cell when the search bar is, is the same!!?! Thanks for any tips.

  • "Instance variable 'xxx' accessed in class method....why?

    - by Michael Levy
So please forgive me as I am very new to stackoverflow and to ios programming in general. I am attempting to change the text of a button i have, replacing current text with a date string (dateStringForInput) I am passing in from another class. The button is called myTodayButton and is declared in my .h file for my class inputMilesViewController... @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *myTodayButton; Below is the code from my .m. +(void) changeButtonText:(NSString*) dateStringForInput{ NSLog(@"we got to changebuttontext"); [_myTodayButton setTitle:dateStringForInput forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } I am getting the following error "Instance variable "_myTodayButton" accessed in class method. I understand that this is written in a class method rather than an instance method but i cant figure out how to get this change to happen. the button which prompts this call to changeButtonText is in the other class which is creating dateStringForInput. please help! thanks so much! be gentle with me....a bit overwhelmed . :-)

  • How to use NSMutableDictionary to store and retrieve data

    - by TechFusion
I have created Window Based application and tab bar controller as root controller. My objective is to store Text Field data values in one tab bar VC and will be accessible and editable by other VC and also retrievable when application start. I am looking to use NSMutableDictionary class in AppDelegate so that I can access stored Data Values with keys. //TestAppDelegate.h extern NSString *kNamekey ; extern NSString *kUserIDkey ; extern NSString *kPasswordkey ; @interface TestAppDelegate :NSObject{ UIWindow *window; IBOutlet UITabBarController *rootController; NSMutableDictionary *outlineData ; } @property(nonatomic,retain)IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property(nonatomic,retain)IBOutlet UITabBarController *rootController; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSMutableDictionary *outlineData ; @end //TestAppDelegate.m import "TestAppDelegate.h" NSString *kNamekey =@"Namekey"; NSString *kUserIDkey =@"UserIDkey"; NSString *kPasswordkey =@"Passwordkey"; @implemetation TestAppDelegate @synthesize outlineData ; -(void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication)application { NSMutableDictionary *tempMutableCopy = [[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:kRestoreLocationKey] mutableCopy]; self.outlineData = tempMutableCopy; [tempMutableCopy release]; if(outlineData == nil){ NSString *NameDefault = NULL; NSString *UserIDdefault= NULL; NSString *Passworddefault= NULL; NSMutableDictionary *appDefaults = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: NameDefault, kNamekey , UserIDdefault, kUserIDkey , Passworddefault, kPasswordkey , nil]; self.outlineData = appDefaults; [appDefaults release]; } [window addSubview:rootController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; NSMutableDictionary *savedLocationDict = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObject:outlineData forKey:kRestoreLocationKey]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] registerDefaults:savedLocationDict]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } -(void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:outlineData forKey:kRestoreLocationKey]; } @end Here ViewController is ViewController of Navigation Controller which is attached with one tab bar.. I have attached xib file with ViewController //ViewController.h @interface IBOutlet UITextField *Name; IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; IBOutlet UITextField *Password; } @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Name @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Password; -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender; @end Here in ViewController.m, I am storing object values with keys. /ViewController.m -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender{ TestAppDelegate appDelegate = (TestAppDelegate)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:Name.text forKey:kNamekey ]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:UserId.text forKey:kUserIDkey ]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:Password.text forKey:kPasswordkey]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } I am accessing stored object using following method. -(void)loadData { TabBarAppDelegate *appDelegate = (TabBarAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Name = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kNamekey ]; UserId = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kUserIDkey ]; Password = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kPasswordkey]; [Name release]; [UserId release]; [Password release]; } I am getting EXEC_BAD_ACCESS in application. Where I am making mistake ? Thanks,

  • UISegmentedControl with UITableVIew NSRangeException

    - by Vivas
Hi, I am using one UIViewController as shown: @interface RssViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDataSource,UITableViewDelegate,BlogRssParserDelegate> I am displaying an RSS feed in the UITableView (in RssViewController) depending on the segment selected on the UISegmentedControl. My app crashes when I scroll the tableview then select another segment of the UISegmentedControl. For example I have two RSS feeds by default I am displaying the RSS feed at segment 0. This feed has 36 rows. The RSS feed that I load at segment 1 has only 5 rows. When I scroll the RSS feed at segment 0 THEN before the scrolling stops I switch to the RSS feed at segment 1 I crash the app with the following error: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (36) beyond bounds (0)' If I wait till the scrolling on the RSS feed at segment 0 stops THEN select segment 1, everything works fine. How can I stop this crashing? I wanted to reuse the same tableview because only the data changes. I can see that it is crashing because of the row count - I went from 36 rows down to 5 rows BUT how can I fix this? Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

  • UIScrollView and Cocos2D

    - by Carl
I have created a UIScrollView in a cocos2d application. I am adding sprites dynamically, over 3 pages. On the first page, touch works perfectly on a sprite, however if I use the scroll view and navigate to the second page, touch does not work quite right... the sprite will respond to the touch when I touch the screen, approximately the amount I have scrolled to the left. If I scroll back to the first page, touch works perfectly for a sprite. Any ideas? I am using the following tutorial: http://getsetgames.com/2009/08/21/cocos2d-and-uiscrollview/ :)

  • UITextField valueDidChange-Event

    - by Infinite
Is there a way to catch a "valueDidChange"-Event for a Textfield? oO I've got a modalView with an UITextField. When the UITextField is empty, the "Done"-Button in the NavigationBar should be disabled and when there is Text entered, it should become enabled. Right now the only way to accomplish this by using the "textFieldShouldReturn"-Method. This works but is simply horrible for usability. Isn't there a way to check the requirements every time a letter is being entered or removed?

Hey, I am trying to reach the following result here I know how to configure the segmented control but I was wondering how to get the same icons ... I tried to do it with photoshop but I just can't manage to achieve the same quality ! I heard there is a possibility to use the "Apple symbols font" available on Mac (which contains these icons), could you show me how to get these symbols ? Or if you have a link to these precise icons (for free) It would be nice too. Thank you, ChaCha

  • viewDidLoad not being called by parent UITabBarController

    - by Adam Bishop
Sample: I've created a minimal set of files that highlight the issue here: http://uploads.omega.org.uk/Foo3.zip If viewDidLoad/viewInitWithNibName are called, a message box is displayed. The message box is not displayed, therefore, the methods are not being called. Details: I have an application that is attempting to use a UITabBarController to switch between multiple views. The views are linked up to the UITabBarController using interface builder (select the tab page, open Attributes (Option-1), and fill in the NIB Name field), and so are displayed "automatically" with no extra code-behind to make them appear. Is it intended behaviour that views loaded like this do not have their viewDidLoad method executed? If not, how am I doing it wrong, and what do I need to change. If it is intended behaviour, I can think of a few work-arounds, but any suggestions are appreciated: Scrap the UITabBarController and implement the view switching myself (using initWithNibName and add/insert/push/Subview). Call each of the children's viewDidLoad method manually in the UITabBarController's own viewDidLoad method. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

  • Memory management for NSURLConnection

    - by eman
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm wondering what the best memory management practice is for NSURLConnection. Apple's sample code uses -[NSURLConnection initWithRequest:delegate:] in one method and then releases in connection:didFailWithError: or connectionDidFinishLoading:, but this spits out a bunch of analyzer warnings and seems sort of dangerous (what if neither of those methods is called?). I've been autoreleasing (using +[NSURLConnection connectionWithRequest:delegate:]), which seems cleaner, but I'm wondering--in this case, is it at ever possible for the NSURLConnection to be released before the connection has closed?

  • Marrying Core Animation with OpenGL ES

    - by Ole Begemann
Edit: I suppose instead of the long explanation below I might also ask: Sending -setNeedsDisplay to an instance of CAEAGLLayer does not cause the layer to redraw (i.e., -drawInContext: is not called). Instead, I get this console message: <GLLayer: 0x4d500b0>: calling -display has no effect. Is there a way around this issue? Can I invoke -drawInContext: when -setNeedsDisplay is called? Long explanation below: I have an OpenGL scene that I would like to animate using Core Animation animations. Following the standard approach to animate custom properties in a CALayer, I created a subclass of CAEAGLLayer and defined a property sceneCenterPoint in it whose value should be animated. My layer also holds a reference to the OpenGL renderer: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> #import "ES2Renderer.h" @interface GLLayer : CAEAGLLayer { ES2Renderer *renderer; } @property (nonatomic, retain) ES2Renderer *renderer; @property (nonatomic, assign) CGPoint sceneCenterPoint; I then declare the property @dynamic to let CA create the accessors, override +needsDisplayForKey: and implement -drawInContext: to pass the current value of the sceneCenterPoint property to the renderer and ask it to render the scene: #import "GLLayer.h" @implementation GLLayer @synthesize renderer; @dynamic sceneCenterPoint; + (BOOL) needsDisplayForKey:(NSString *)key { if ([key isEqualToString:@"sceneCenterPoint"]) { return YES; } else { return [super needsDisplayForKey:key]; } } - (void) drawInContext:(CGContextRef)ctx { self.renderer.centerPoint = self.sceneCenterPoint; [self.renderer render]; } ... (If you have access to the WWDC 2009 session videos, you can review this technique in session 303 ("Animated Drawing")). Now, when I create an explicit animation for the layer on the keyPath @"sceneCenterPoint", Core Animation should calculate the interpolated values for the custom properties and call -drawInContext: for each step of the animation: - (IBAction)animateButtonTapped:(id)sender { CABasicAnimation *animation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"sceneCenterPoint"]; animation.duration = 1.0; animation.fromValue = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:CGPointZero]; animation.toValue = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:CGPointMake(1.0f, 1.0f)]; [self.glView.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:nil]; } At least that is what would happen for a normal CALayer subclass. When I subclass CAEAGLLayer, I get this output on the console for each step of the animation: 2010-12-21 13:59:22.180 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.198 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.216 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.233 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. ... So it seems that, possibly for performance reasons, for OpenGL layers, -drawInContext: is not getting called because these layers do not use the standard -display method to draw themselves. Can anybody confirm that? Is there a way around it? Or can I not use the technique I laid out above? This would mean I would have to implement the animations manually in the OpenGL renderer (which is possible but not as elegant IMO).

  • How do I use the gravity vector to correctly transform scene for augmented reality?

    - by gpdawson
    I'm trying figure out how to get an OpenGL specified object to be displayed correctly according to the device orientation (ie. according to the gravity vector from the accelerometer, and heading from compass). The GLGravity sample project has an example which is almost like this (despite ignoring heading), but it has some glitches. For example, the teapot jumps 180deg as the device viewing angle crosses the horizon, and it also rotates spuriously if you tilt the device from portrait into landscape. This is fine for the context of this app, as it just shows off an object and it doesn't matter that it does these things. But it means that the code just doesn't work when you attempt to emulate real life viewing of an OpenGL object according to the device's orientation. What happens is that it almost works, but the heading rotation you apply from the compass gets "corrupted" by the spurious additional rotations seen in the GLGravity example project. Can anyone provide sample code that shows how to adjust correctly for the device orientation (ie. gravity vector), or to fix the GLGravity example so that it doesn't include spurious heading changes? //Clear matrix to be used to rotate from the current referential to one based on the gravity vector bzero(matrix, sizeof(matrix)); matrix[3][3] = 1.0; //Setup first matrix column as gravity vector matrix[0][0] = accel[0] / length; matrix[0][1] = accel[1] / length; matrix[0][2] = accel[2] / length; //Setup second matrix column as an arbitrary vector in the plane perpendicular to the gravity vector {Gx, Gy, Gz} defined by by the equation "Gx * x + Gy * y + Gz * z = 0" in which we arbitrarily set x=0 and y=1 matrix[1][0] = 0.0; matrix[1][1] = 1.0; matrix[1][2] = -accel[1] / accel[2]; length = sqrtf(matrix[1][0] * matrix[1][0] + matrix[1][1] * matrix[1][1] + matrix[1][2] * matrix[1][2]); matrix[1][0] /= length; matrix[1][1] /= length; matrix[1][2] /= length; //Setup third matrix column as the cross product of the first two matrix[2][0] = matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][2] - matrix[0][2] * matrix[1][1]; matrix[2][1] = matrix[1][0] * matrix[0][2] - matrix[1][2] * matrix[0][0]; matrix[2][2] = matrix[0][0] * matrix[1][1] - matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][0]; //Finally load matrix glMultMatrixf((GLfloat*)matrix);
