  • Python 3.1 - Memory Error during sampling of a large list

    - by jimy
The input list can be more than 1 million numbers. When I run the following code with smaller 'repeats', its fine; def sample(x): length = 1000000 new_array = random.sample((list(x)),length) return (new_array) def repeat_sample(x): i = 0 repeats = 100 list_of_samples = [] for i in range(repeats): list_of_samples.append(sample(x)) return(list_of_samples) repeat_sample(large_array) However, using high repeats such as the 100 above, results in MemoryError. Traceback is as follows; Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Python31\rnd.py", line 221, in <module> STORED_REPEAT_SAMPLE = repeat_sample(STORED_ARRAY) File "C:\Python31\rnd.py", line 129, in repeat_sample list_of_samples.append(sample(x)) File "C:\Python31\rnd.py", line 121, in sample new_array = random.sample((list(x)),length) File "C:\Python31\lib\random.py", line 309, in sample result = [None] * k MemoryError I am assuming I'm running out of memory. I do not know how to get around this problem. Thank you for your time!

  • C# mysqlreader on same connection error

    - by dominiquel
    Hi, I must find a way to do this in C#, if possible... I must loop on my folder list (mysql table), and for each folder I instanciate I must do another query, but when I do this it says : "There is already an open DataReader associated with this Connection" and I am inside a mysqlreader loop already. Note that I have oversimplified the code just to show you, the fact is that I must do queries inside a mysqlreader loop, and it looks to be impossible as they are on the same connection? MySqlConnection cnx = new MySqlConnection(connexionString); cnx.Open(); MySqlCommand command= new MySqlCommand("SELECT * FROM folder WHERE folder_id = " + id, cnx); MySqlDataReader reader= commande.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { this.folderList[this.folderList.Length] = new CFolder(reader.GetInt32"folder_id"), cnx); } reader.Close(); cnx.Close();

  • Compile error in java application using netbeans - linked project

    - by Malachi
I have a project which has shared functionality between three other projects and have linked these to existing projects as I normally would using the add project functionality of the libraries folder. This all used to work however when I started up Netbeans yesterday it just wasn't working as in the other projects won't compile even though the projects are linked. It can recognise the packages - just the actual classes themselves were not recognised. I have checked the dist folder of the shared project and the Shared.jar file exists. Any suggestions?

  • delegate method throws runtime "unrecognized selector" error when switching back from one UIViewCont

    - by chimgrrl
Ok, I've spend like half day on this and it's killing me. So I've got 3 view controllers transitioning from one another, something like this: I call the UploadDecisionViewController after destroying the previous View Controller: [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self performSelector:@selector(showUDModalView) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; In my showUDModalView method: - (void)showUDModalView { UploadDecisionViewController *udcontroller = [[UploadDecisionViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"UploadDecisionViewController" bundle:nil]; udcontroller.delegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:udcontroller animated:YES]; [udcontroller release]; } The UploadDecisionViewController shows up no problem. The UploadDecisionViewController has a button, which when clicked I want it to transition to the FileUploadViewController. I setup a UploadDecisionDelegate, threw a method in there to handle the button clicking: Inside UploadDecisionDelegate protocol (UploadDecisionViewController.h): @protocol UploadDecisionDelegate //let UOnliveViewController know that a button was selected - (void)UploadDecisionViewController:(UploadDecisionViewController *)controller madeChoice:(NSString *)whichDirection; @end Then inside my IBAction method when the button is clicked, I have this: - (IBAction)decisionSelected:(id)sender { [delegate UploadDecisionViewController:self madeChoice:@"upload"];//crashing at this line } When I run this, at this line above it is throwing a runtime exception: 2010-06-09 12:48:59.561 UOnlive[4735:207] *** -[UIView UploadDecisionViewController:madeChoice:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b65420 2010-06-09 12:48:59.562 UOnlive[4735:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIView UploadDecisionViewController:madeChoice:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b65420' 2010-06-09 12:48:59.563 UOnlive[4735:207] Stack: ( 33502299, 2495698185, 33884219, 33453686, 33306306, 20618, 2982917, 3390286, 3399023, 3394235, 3087839, 2996168, 3022945, 40156505, 33287040, 33283144, 40150549, 40150746, 3026863, 11700, 11554 ) Let me throw in the delegate method implemented also: - (void)UploadDecisionViewController:(UploadDecisionViewController *)controller madeChoice:(NSString *)whichDirection { NSLog(@"it got to here 245"); [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; if (yesOrNo) { //open up the FileUploadViewController and proceed to upload [self performSelector:@selector(showFUModalView) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; } } Can someone tell me what the heck is going on? I having trouble scraping a certain long dash that is encoded as — ; on the Time magazine site. It looks like this: —. It works fine when this dash is encoded as mdash, but when the problem dash is scraped, it is returned as unknown characters. I am using Nokogiri and am wondering if I have to use some sort of special encoding? The page says it is encoded with UTF-8.

  • Error handling in C++, constructors vs. regular methods

    - by Dennis Ritchie
I have a cheesesales.txt CSV file with all of my recent cheese sales. I want to create a class CheeseSales that can do things like these: CheeseSales sales("cheesesales.txt"); //has no default constructor cout << sales.totalSales() << endl; sales.outputPieChart("piechart.pdf"); The above code assumes that no failures will happen. In reality, failures will take place. In this case, two kinds of failures could occur: Failure in the constructor: The file may not exist, may not have read-permissions, contain invalid/unparsable data, etc. Failure in the regular method: The file may already exist, there may not be write access, too little sales data available to create a pie chart, etc. My question is simply: How would you design this code to handle failures? One idea: Return a bool from the regular method indicating failure. Not sure how to deal with the constructor. How would seasoned C++ coders do these kinds of things?

  • jar dependencies in android- no class definition found exception

    - by Dave.B
I'm trying to use the gdata java client library on android and have managed a decent hack to get it working. However because the jar for gdata had some package discrepancies with android I had to import the source into my project. This source is dependent on the JavaMail API and the JavaBeans Activation Framework as specified here. My issue is that the JavaMail jar throws a class definition not found when seeking a class which is in the Activation Framework jar. A stack trace is listed below. I am working in Eclipse and have both jars in a lib folder and added to my build path. I'm not very experienced dealing with jars in a situation like this so any help or insight would be appreciated. 03-29 09:55:26.204: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): Uncaught handler: thread AsyncTask #3 exiting due to uncaught exception 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): java.lang.RuntimeException: An error occured while executing doInBackground() 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at android.os.AsyncTask$3.done(AsyncTask.java:200) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerSetException(FutureTask.java:273) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.setException(FutureTask.java:124) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerRun(FutureTask.java:307) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:137) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1068) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:561) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:1096) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax.activation.DataHandler 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart.setContent(MimeBodyPart.java:684) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.data.media.MediaBodyPart.<init>(MediaBodyPart.java:95) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.data.media.MediaMultipart.<init>(MediaMultipart.java:126) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.client.media.MediaService.insert(MediaService.java:382) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at android.os.AsyncTask$2.call(AsyncTask.java:185) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerRun(FutureTask.java:305)

  • Java Ugly Rounding Error?

Using series.add(180, 1); produces a perfectly valid chart like this (little red dot at the bottom with some PolarItemRenderer Mods!) but using series.add(3000/(6000/360), 1); produces this beast: I assume it's because somewhere, 6000/360 = 16.6... is getting rounded? How can I stop this happening? Thanks :)

I have a class which has a static const array, it has to be initialized outside the class: class foo{ static const int array[3]; }; const int foo::array[3] = { 1, 2, 3 }; But then I get a duplicate symbol foo::array in foo.o and main.o foo.o hold the foo class, and main.o holds main() and uses instances of foo. How can I share this static const array between all instances of foo? I mean, that's the idea of a static member.
