  • Blocking specific IP requests

    Hi, I own a VPS running Ubuntu with Apache stuff. Recently I am getting continous request from IP static-195.22.94.120.addr.tdcsong.se.54303 : 12337 I already installed the 'arno-iptables-firewall'. Have iptables blocking 195.22.94.120 Still then I get the request from that IP if i see via tcpdump. May I know what else i can do to protect my VPS? Thank you.

I also made the IP static and I can access the server in my office premises easily, but when I try to access my server from my home it is not working. I know I have to make some changes and need to install some firewall (I had just gone through with a couple of posts) but I guess an expert advise will save my time here.

    I have a file server with ubuntu-server installed it is accessed usually through smb either from pc (ubuntu) or laptop (windows 7) Sometimes it happens that folder names on the file server are changing to some meaningless name, like TOZC0N~L or TOJNL7~U The hard disks seem to be fine, and I can´t imagine that samba is messing up folder names. There is no rule really for this problem and I can´t reproduce it, it just happens sometimes Any ideas???

    Hi guys I have installed a samba PDC but when I test the samba configurations file I am getting errors like these, "Invalid combination of parameters for service homes. Map system can only work if create mask includes octal 010 (S_IXGRP)." My Configuration file is as follows [homes] comment = Home Directories path = /home_srv1/%u valid users = %S read only = No create mask = 0660 directory mask = 0770 browseable = No I tried to google but with no luck, Serverfault is always my best hope.   • DD-WRT - Where's the best place to get a LinkSys WRT54G V1.0?

    Looking for the initial release of the LinkSys WRT54G, not V1.1 or V2.0 or anything like that. If it comes with DD-WRT pre-installed, even better. That being said, I suppose a side question would be whether SU recommends different hardware. After all, DD-WRT may have been originally built for the WRT54G and the WRT54Gv1.0 may have better hardware than any of the successive models, but it's still fairly dated. Are there newer routers that are more stable or performant with DD-WRT?

    I'm trying to install just the Unicenter Event Agent on a Windows 2008 virtual server, but every time I run the NSM 11.2 installer I get the following error code: Unknown or bad error code from "cadepchkx.exe" error code = -1 There are already some Unicenter agents installed on this server, but that was done from a custom install script. Has any one experienced this or know how I can get the installer to run properly, so I can install the event agent?

  • Directly connected HP server and CX4 with fibre

    I have direcly connected (with fibre) a HP ProLiant BL460c G7 with a EMC CX4. I installed VMWare Esxi 5.0. The problem is that cx4 cannot connect to the blade. It seems that there is no connectivity problem, because the server can be connected to fibre switch with other equipment (EVA 4000) and also cx4 is already atteched to one same server. The problem seems to exist somewhere between the cx4 and esxi when they are direclty attached. Any ideas??

    Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2. Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error. How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?

    Currently i installed ubunot on ubunto 4.4, and using following commands i can see mysql, mysqld running ps -ef | grep mysql ps -ef | grep mysqld but when I run, netstat i don't see mysql and 3306 anywhere. in my.cnf file, i have given my ip and port is 3306. also when i run this command sudo netstat -tap | grep mysql i don't see anything and commands I needed to run the mysql 5 on port 3306 and on ip=x.x.x.x for remotely accessible Looking forward to your reply

I promised them to look into other CRM applications that use SQL Server as the backend and preferably has an Outlook plugin so you can do "CRM Stuff" directly from Outlook.     It would be so useful, and not very difficult, because in fact I have Directory Opus installed (a very powerful windows explorer alternative) and it does exactly that, but only by double-clicking the desktop, not the taskbar. Similar options with middle-click would also be nice, such as scrolling the taskbar (maybe cycling directly through the Alt-Tab window). 7 Task Tweaker is close to this, actually, but it doesn't do what I would like.
