  • Performing application reliability using iis 6/7

    I have web-services applications, running on Windows Server 2003. These hosts (each of them on separate appPool) contains multiple operations (consulting services). Does exist an approach to perform reliability on these hosts, in terms of appPools? If there is a way to perform it in IIS 7 - or using WCF - I would appreciate the information. Thanks

  • What is more correct class name or object name in UML sequence diagram?

    I was just wondering if it is more correctly to as a label of objects in UML sequence diagram instead of object name (which is irrelevant in my opinion and less informative than class name) provide class name. Another thing, while returning information instead of listing all objects names would it be a better solution to just write collection; Diagram with object names: Diagram with class names: As it's clearly visible from the second diagram that it is much more informative than the first one, and I think it is more practical.

  • Best way to get free driving instructions

    Is there a simple way to get driving instructions? Something like: I call "http://someservice/?start=NYC&target=Washington" and then the service returns a XML file containing routing information? Has anybody ever tried to access such a web-based service from a standalone desktop application? Any help would really be appreciated! Update: Thanks for the hints, but unfortunately I can't run JavaScript. Is there still a possibility to receive driving instructions?

    Whenever I switch to DDMS view and start method profiling, I get the following error message when I stop profiling: Method Profiling Error: Unable to download trace file: Remote object doesn't exist! This only happens with 1.6 and 2.1 AVDs, 2.2 and 2.3 work fine. I've been having this problem ever since the latest update to the Eclipse Android plugin. I'm using Eclipse 3.5.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 with Android Development Toolkit version 8.0.0.v201011171904-77661. Let me know if you need any more information.

    We have recently downloaded, installed and compiled gcc-3.0.4 code. gcc compiler has built successfully and we where able to compile some same test cpp file. I would like to know how we can modify gcc source code so that we add additional run time debugging statements like the binary in execution compiled by my gcc should print below statement in a log file: filename.cpp::FunctionName#linenumber-statement or any additional information that I can insert via this tailored compiler code Any references would be highly appreciable.

    I want to be able to get the current CPU usage in a C++ program running under Wince. I found this link that states where the source code is but I cannot find it in my platform builder installation - I expect this is because it isn't the Windows Automotive platform. Does anyone know where I can find this source code or (even better) know how I can get this information directly? i.e. what DLL / function calls to make etc.

All of our code uses these messages to display useful information to the end user and since moving to Linq2SQL I cannot figure out how to show these messages.     I'm making a crash reporter, and I can read the crash reporter files just fine within ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter. However, I want to also send along with the report any console (NSLog) information that was printed to the console (the stuff that one can see both in Xcode and in Console.app). However, I want to make sure I get only the logs for my app. I don't want logs from other apps. How does one get the console logs for a specific app?

I read that compression algorithms do something similar to what I want - creating dictionaries of blocks of text with a piece of information reporting its frequency.     I'm developing an iPhone application. I have an EXC_BAD_ACCESS that occurs only in the release target; when I build the debug target the exception does not occur. However, when I set the NSZombieEnabled environment variable to YES, I still get the EXC_BAD_ACCESS with no further information. Is it even possible for NSZombieEnabled to work when executing the release target? I don't see why not, since gdb is running in both cases...

    Hi Everyone: I have found a lot of information on using UIImagePickerController to let the user choose the image they want from the Photos application's data. I am wondering how I can create this same effect on 3.0, as it doesn't seem as if a lot of the old code works anymore.
