  • Python: How to get a value of datetime.today() that is "timezone aware"?

    Hi, I am trying to subtract one date value from the value of datetime.today() to calculate how long ago something was. But it complains: TypeError: can't subtract offset-naive and offset-aware datetimes The value datetime.today() doesn't seem to be "timezone aware", while my other date value is. How do I get a value of datetime.today() that is timezone aware? Right now it's giving me the time in local time, which happens to be PST, i.e. UTC-8hrs. Worst case, is there a way I can manually enter a timezone value into the datetime object returned by datetime.today() and set it to UTC-8? Of course, the ideal solution would be for it to automatically know the timezone. Thanks!

    Hi All, Is there a better way to calculate number of leap years between two years. Assuming I have start date and end date. I have my code, but I think there should be more elegant way. calling code: var numberOfLeapYears = NumberOfLeapYears(startDate.Year + 1, endDate.Year - 1); function itself: private static int NumberOfLeapYears(int startYear, int endYear) { var counter = 0; for (var year = startYear; year <= endYear; year++) counter += DateTime.IsLeapYear(year) ? 1 : 0; return counter; } So if I have startDate = "10/16/2006" and endDate = "4/18/2004" I should only have 1 leap year (2000) in result. Another words startDate's Year and endDate's year should not be calculated, only years in between. Thanks in advance for your help.

    So I am dumb and I have this: select whatever from bank_accs b1, bank_accs b2, table3 t3 where t3.bank_acc_id = t1.bank_acc_id and b2.bank_acc_number = b1.bank_acc_number and b2.currency_code(+) = t3.buy_currency and trunc(sysdate) between nvl(b2.start_date, trunc(sysdate)) and nvl(b2.end_date, trunc(sysdate)); My problem is with the date (actuality) check on b2. Now, I need to return a row for each t3xb1 (t3 = ~10 tables joined, of course), even if there are ONLY INVALID records (date-wise) in b2. How do I outer-join this bit properly? Can't use ANSI joins, must do in a single flat query. Thanks.

  • MySQL Hibernate sort on 2 columns

    I have a table as follows Table item { ID - Primary Key content - String published_date - When the content was published create_date - When this database entry was created } Every hour (or specified time interval) I run a process to update this table with data from different sources (websites). I want to display the results according to the following rules. 1. The entries created each time the process runs should be grouped together. So the entries from the 2nd process run will always be after the entries from the first process run even if the published_date of an entry from the first run is after the published_date of an entry from the 2nd run. 2. Within the grouping by run, the entries by sorted by published_date 3. Another restriction is that I prefer that data from the same source not be grouped together. If I do the sort by create_date, published_date I will end up with data from source a, data from source b etc. I prefer that the data within each hour be mixed up for better presentation If I add a column to this table and store a counter which increments each time the process is run, it is possible to create a query to sort first by counter and then by published_dt. Is there a way to do it without adding a field? I'm using Hibernate over MySQL. e.g. Hour 1 (run 1) 4 rows collected from site a (rows 1-4) 3 rows collected from site b (rows 5-7) hour 2 (run 2) 2 row collected from site a (rows 8-9) 3 rows collected from site b (rows 10-12) ... After each run, new records are added to the database from each website. The create date is the time when the record was created in the database. The published date is part of the content and is read in from the external source. When the results are displayed I would like rows to be grouped together based on the hour they were published in. So rows 1-7 would be displayed before rows 8-12. Within each hourly grouping, I would like to sort the results by published date (timestamp). This is necessary so that the posts from all the sites collected in that hour are not grouped together but rather mixed in with each other.

    I'm currently trying to write a stored procedure that can compute the biweekly periods when a date is passed in as a parameter. The business logic: the first Monday of the year is first day of the biweekly period. For example in 2010: period period_start period_end 1 2010-01-04 2010-01-17 2 2010-01-18 2010-01-31 3 2010-02-01 2010-02-14 .... 26 2010-12-20 2011-01-02 Passing today's date of 2010-12-31 will return 26, 2010-12-20 and 2011-01-02. I would like to get a single number as output and which would be the mean of Value1 in the time period from a point where Value2 < mean(Value2) and going forward 14 data points, weeks in this particular data set. In order to get the dates where Value2 < mean(Value2), I wrote the below code Data[which(Data$Value2 < mean(Data$Value2)),"Date"] However, I am not sure how to get the mean of Value1 in the period, going 14 days forward from each of the resultant dates from the above code.

  • Displaying only the similarities between 20 or so files?

    Say I've got a directory full of html pages. Their headers and footers are basically the same, but I want to be able to see only the portions of all the pages that are the same. I'd like to call it an n-way merge, but that isn't what it is, it's looking for just the similarities between the header and the footers of all the files. (and my header I don't mean just the <head> tag, but rather the portions of the page that are alike). Note: There are like 20 html files. Is there a name for a tool that does this?

    I'm using Postgres 9.1. The following query does not work as expected. Coalesce should return the first non-null value. However, this query returns null (1?) instead of the date (2). select COALESCE( TO_DATE('','yyyymmdd'), --(1) TO_DATE('20130201','yyyymmdd') --(2) ); --(1) this evaluates independently to null --(2) this evaluates independently to the date, and therefore is the first non-null value What am I doing wrong? Any workaround? Edit: This may have nothing to do with Coalesce at all. I tried some experiments with Case When constructs; it turns out, Postgres has this big ugly bug where it treats TO_DATE('','yyyymmdd') as not null, even though selecting it returns null.

    I'm attempting to call LinkedIn's API and store Network Updates. Each update has a Unix timestamp that I'm retrieving as a string variable from the REST XML response. I want to convert the string timestamp to a mysql datetime format. The date() function accepts an integer as the second argument for time to be converted. However, I'm on Windows 32 bit PHP and the integer type for this platform is limited to 2147483647. $timestamp = '1293714626675'; // sample pulled from linkedin $timestamp = (int) $timestamp; // timestamp now equals 2147483647 $mysqlDatetime = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $timestamp); // produces incorrect time Is there a better method of creating the mysql datetime in PHP? I realize that I can convert it upon insert into MySQL however, that would require changing other dependent code.

This line is just appeared in File1.txt. you can see this line in both files. this line is also appeared in both files. this line and, this one are mereged in File2.txt.     I'm importing a CSV file with dotted german dates into a MySQL database. I want the dates in the CSV to automatically be formatted correctly to the correct data type fields used by MySQL. I'm using Sequel Pro for the import. I gather I'm supposed to use the STR_TO_DATE function, but I just can't wrap my head around how to use add value or expression.     Fairly new to Vagrant, so bear with me if I don't understand the process. I downloaded a CentOS box off http://www.vagrantbox.es/ Started it up running VirtualBox 4.2.4 and got this message: [default] The guest additions on this VM do not match the install version of VirtualBox! This may cause things such as forwarded ports, shared folders, and more to not work properly. If any of those things fail on this machine, please update the guest additions and repackage the box. Guest Additions Version: 4.0.8 VirtualBox Version: 4.2.4 So I used the vbguest plugin to update the guest additions, then repackaged the box as suggested. Having replaced the old box and loading it up I get the same message about guest additions being outdated, but vbguest reports that they are up to date (the automatic vbguest update is disabled in my Vagrantfile): Vagrant::Config.run do |config| config.vm.box = "centos56_64" config.vbguest.auto_update = false config.vbguest.no_remote = true end And the commands: dtest$ vagrant up [default] Importing base box 'centos56_64'...     I have an InfoPath Form template that has some Date Picker controls in it bound to elements in an xml data source. I know I can change the display format of the date by going into the Date Picker Properties and setting the date format. This foramt is only used for display puposes when the form is being filled out. When the form is saved as an xml file the date is always stored in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Is there a way to change the date format that gets serialized to xml? I'm using InfoPath 2007.
