  • quartz.net - Can I not add a callback delegate method to JobExecutionContext?

    - by Greg
    Hi, BACKGROUND - I have a synchroisation function within my MainForm class. It gets called manually when the user pushes the SYNC button. I want to also call this synchroisation function when the scheduler triggers too, so effectively want SchedulerJob:IJob.Execute() method to be able to call it. QUESTION - How do I access the MainForm.Sychronization() method from within the SchedulerJob:IJob.Execute() method? I tried creating a delegate for this method in the MainForm class and getting it added via jobDetail.JobDataMap. However when I try I'm not sure that JobDataMap has a method to pull out a Delegate type??? private void Schedule(MainForm.SyncDelegate _syncNow) { var jobDetail = new JobDetail("MainJob", null, typeof(SchedulerJob)); jobDetail.JobDataMap["CallbackMethod"] = _syncNow; // Trigger Setup var trigger = new CronTrigger("MainTrigger"); string expression = GetCronExpression(); trigger.CronExpressionString = expression; trigger.StartTimeUtc = DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime(); // Schedule Job & Trigger _scheduler.ScheduleJob(jobDetail, trigger); } public class SchedulerJob : IJob { public SchedulerJob() { } public void Execute(JobExecutionContext context) { JobDataMap dataMap = context.JobDetail.JobDataMap; MainForm.SyncDelegate CallbackFunction = dataMap.getDelegate["CallbackMethod"]; **// THIS METHOD DOESN'T EXIST - getDelegate()** CallbackFunction(); } } thanks

  • Working with complex objects in Prevayler commands

    - by alexantd
    The demos included in the Prevayler distribution show how to pass in a couple strings (or something simple like that) into a command constructor in order to create or update an object. The problem is that I have an object called MyObject that has a lot of fields. If I had to pass all of them into the CreateMyObject command manually, it would be a pain. So an alternative I thought of is to pass my business object itself into the command, but to hang onto a clone of it (keeping in mind that I can't store the BO directly in the command). Of course after executing this command, I would need to make sure to dispose of the original copy that I passed in. public class CreateMyObject implements TransactionWithQuery { private MyObject object; public CreateMyObject(MyObject business_obj) { this.object = (MyObject) business_obj.clone(); } public Object executeAndQuery(...) throws Exception { ... } } The Prevayler wiki says: Transactions can't carry direct object references (pointers) to business objects. This has become known as the baptism problem because it's a common beginner pitfall. Direct object references don't work because once a transaction has been serialized to the journal and then deserialized for execution its object references no longer refer to the intended objects - - any objects they may have referred to at first will have been copied by the serialization process! Therefore, a transaction must carry some kind of string or numeric identifiers for any objects it wants to refer to, and it must look up the objects when it is executed. I think by cloning the passed-in object I will be getting around the "direct object pointer" problem, but I still don't know whether or not this is a good idea...

  • What's the boost way to create a functor that binds out an argument

    - by Mordachai
    I have need for a function pointer that takes two arguments and returns a string. I would like to pass an adapter that wraps a function that takes one argument, and returns the string (i.e. discard one of the arguments). I can trivially build my own adapter, that takes the 2 arguments, calls the wrapped function passing just the one argument through. But I'd much rather have a simple way to create an adapter on the fly, if there is an easy way to do so in C++/boost? Here's some details to make this a bit more concrete: typedef boost::function<CString (int,int)> TooltipTextFn; class MyCtrl { public: MyCtrl(TooltipTextFn callback = boost::bind(&MyCtrl::GetCellText, this, _1, _2)) : m_callback(callback) { } // QUESTION: how to trivially wrapper GetRowText to conform to TooltipTextFn by just discarding _2 ?! void UseRowText() { m_callback = boost::bind(&MyCtrl::GetRowText, this, _1, ??); } private: CString GetCellText(int row, int column); CString GetRowText(int row); TooltipTextFn m_callback; } Obviously, I can supply a member that adapts GetRowText to take two arguments and only passes the first to GetRowText() itself. But is there already a boost binder / adapter that lets me do that?

  • What to do when ServerSocket throws IOException and keeping server running

    - by s5804
    Basically I want to create a rock solid server. while (keepRunning.get()) { try { Socket clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); ... spawn a new thread to handle the client ... } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); // NOW WHAT? } } In the IOException block, what to do? Is the Server socket at fault so it need to be recreated? For example wait a few seconds and then serverSocket = ServerSocketFactory.getDefault().createServerSocket(MY_PORT); However if the server socket is still OK, then it is a pity to close it and kill all previously accepted connections that are still communicating. EDIT: After some answers, here my attempt to deal with the IOException. Would the implementation be guaranteeing keeping the server up and only re-create server socket when only necessary? while (keepRunning.get()) { try { Socket clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); ... spawn a new thread to handle the client ... bindExceptionCounter = 0; } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); recreateServerSocket(); } } private void recreateServerSocket() { while (keepRunning) { try { logger.info("Try to re-create Server Socket"); ServerSocket socket = ServerSocketFactory.getDefault().createServerSocket(RateTableServer.RATE_EVENT_SERVER_PORT); // No exception thrown, then use the new socket. serverSocket = socket; break; } catch (BindException e) { logger.info("BindException indicates that the server socket is still good.", e); bindExceptionCounter++; if (bindExceptionCounter < 5) { break; } } catch (IOException e) { logger.warn("Problem to re-create Server Socket", e); e.printStackTrace(); try { Thread.sleep(30000); } catch (InterruptedException ie) { logger.warn(ie); } } } }

  • for cycle not works allright

    - by joseph
    Hello. I call addNotify() method in class that I posted here. The problem is, that when I call addNotify() as it is in the code, setKeys(objs) do nothing. Nothing appears in my explorer of running app. But when I call addNotify()without loop(for int....), and add only one item to ArrayList, it shows that one item correctly. Does anybody knows where can be problem? See the cede class ProjectsNode extends Children.Keys{ private ArrayList objs = new ArrayList(); public ProjectsNode() { } @Override protected Node[] createNodes(Object o) { MainProject obj = (MainProject) o; AbstractNode result = new AbstractNode (new DiagramsNode(), Lookups.singleton(obj)); result.setDisplayName (obj.getName()); return new Node[] { result }; } @Override protected void addNotify() { //this loop causes nothing appears in my explorer. //but when I replace this loop by single line "objs.add(new MainProject("project1000"));", it shows that one item in explorer for (int i=0;i==10;i++){ objs.add(new MainProject("project1000")); } setKeys (objs); } }

  • Newbie question: undefined local variable or method , why??

    - by Mellon
    I am new in Rails (I am using Rails 3.0.3), currently I am following the book "Agile Web Development with Rails" to develop a simple rails application. I followed the book to: --create a model 'Cart' class; --implement 'add_to_cart' method in my 'store_controller', I have a line of code <%=button_to "Add to Cart", :action => add_to_cart, :id => product %> in my /store/index.html.erb As you see, there is :action => add_to_cart in my index.html.erb, which will invoke the add_to_cart method in my *Controllers/store_controller.rb* But after I refresh the browser, I got the error "undefined local variable or method 'add_to_cart'", apparently I do have the method add_to_cart in my 'store_controller.rb', why I got this error??? What is the possible cause??? Here are my codes: store_controller.rb class StoreController < ApplicationController def index @products = Product.find_products_for_sale end def add_to_cart product = Product.find(params[:id]) @cart = find_cart @cart.add_product(product) end private def find_cart session[:cart] ||= Cart.new end end /store/index.html.erb <h1>Your Pragmatic Catalog</h1> <% @products.each do |product| -%> <div class="entry"> <%= image_tag(product.image_url) %> <h3><%=h product.title %></h3> <%= product.description %> <div class="price-line"> <span class="price"><%= number_to_currency(product.price) %></span> <!-- START_HIGHLIGHT --> <!-- START:add_to_cart --> **<%= button_to 'Add to Cart', :action => 'add_to_cart', :id => product %>** <!-- END:add_to_cart --> <!-- END_HIGHLIGHT --> </div> </div> <% end %> Model/cart.rb class Cart attr_reader :items def initialize @items = [] end def add_product(product) @items << product end end

  • Why is F# member not found when used in subclass

    - by James Black
    I have a base type that I want to inherit from, for all my DAO objects, but this member gets the error further down about not being defined: type BaseDAO() = member v.ExecNonQuery2(conn)(sqlStr) = let comm = new MySqlCommand(sqlStr, conn, CommandTimeout = 10) comm.ExecuteNonQuery |> ignore comm.Dispose |> ignore I inherit in this type: type CreateDatabase() = inherit BaseDAO() member private self.createDatabase(conn) = self.ExecNonQuery2 conn "DROP DATABASE IF EXISTS restaurant" This is what I see when my script runs in the interactive shell: --> Referenced 'C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Connector Net 6.2.3\Assemblies\MySql.Data.dll' [Loading C:\Users\jblack\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RestaurantService\RestaurantDAO\BaseDAO.fs] namespace FSI_0106.RestaurantServiceDAO type BaseDAO = class new : unit -> BaseDAO member ExecNonQuery2 : conn:MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection -> sqlStr:string -> unit member execNonQuery : sqlStr:string -> unit member execQuery : sqlStr:string * selectFunc:(MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataReader -> 'a list) -> 'a list member f : x:obj -> string member Conn : MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection end [Loading C:\Users\jblack\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RestaurantService\RestaurantDAO\CreateDatabase.fs] C:\Users\jblack\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RestaurantService\RestaurantDAO\CreateDatabase.fs(56,14): error FS0039: The field, constructor or member 'ExecNonQuery2' is not defined I am curious what I am doing wrong. I have tried not inheriting, and just instantiating the BaseDAO type in the function, but I get the same error. I started on this path because I had a property that had the same error, so it seems there may be a problem with how I am defining my BaseDAO type, but it compiles with no error, which further confuses me about this problem.

  • Unable to get values in ftl from value stack in custom Result Type

    Hello, I am unable retrieve value from value stack in FTL file. Here is the code. Action class holds a property called 'name' private String name; public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public String execute(){ setName("From value stack .. "); return SUCCESS; } FTL code: ${name} Custom result Type deExecute Method Configuration configuration = new Configuration(); String templatePath = "/ftl"; ServletContext context = ServletActionContext.getServletContext(); configuration.setServletContextForTemplateLoading(context, templatePath); configuration.setObjectWrapper(new DefaultObjectWrapper()); Template template = configuration.getTemplate("sample.ftl"); OutputStreamWriter out = new OutputStreamWriter(System.out); template.process(ActionContext.getContext().getValueStack(), out); I am passing the value Stack which contains recently executed Action as well. But FTL is throwing an exception Expression name is undefined on line 1, column 3 in sample.ftl I tried with passing session instead of value stack and I could get the value in FTL. Please suggest me a way to get values from Action class to FTL from value stack. Thanks inadvance.

  • Noob boost::bind member function callback question

    - by shaz
    #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <iostream> using namespace std; using boost::bind; class A { public: void print(string &s) { cout << s.c_str() << endl; } }; typedef void (*callback)(); class B { public: void set_callback(callback cb) { m_cb = cb; } void do_callback() { m_cb(); } private: callback m_cb; }; void main() { A a; B b; string s("message"); b.set_callback(bind(A::print, &a, s)); b.do_callback(); } So what I'm trying to do is to have the print method of A stream "message" to cout when b's callback is activated. I'm getting an unexpected number of arguments error from msvc10. I'm sure this is super noob basic and I'm sorry in advance.

  • window.setInterval from inside an object

    - by Keith Rousseau
    I'm currently having an issue where I have a javascript object that is trying to use setInterval to call a private function inside of itself. However, it can't find the object when I try to call it. I have a feeling that it's because window.setInterval is trying to call into the object from outside but doesn't have a reference to the object. FWIW - I can't get it to work with the function being public either. The basic requirement is that I may need to have multiple instances of this object to track multiple uploads that are occurring at once. If you have a better design than the current one or can get the current one working then I'm all ears. The following code is meant to continuously ping a web service to get the status of my file upload: var FileUploader = function(uploadKey) { var intervalId; var UpdateProgress = function() { $.get('someWebService', {}, function(json) { alert('success'); }); }; return { BeginTrackProgress: function() { intervalId = window.setInterval('UpdateProgress()', 1500); }, EndTrackProgress: function() { clearInterval(intervalId); } }; }; This is how it is being called: var fileUploader = new FileUploader('myFileKey'); fileUploader.BeginTrackProgress();

  • JSF don't find component in view root with the form id

    - by kenzokujpn
    I have a t:inputFileUpload inside the form, in the html of the display page the id of this component is form:inputFile but when I tried to get the component from the view root using "form:inputFile" the return is null, but when the "form:" is removed the return is the component. The component don't set the value in my managed bean, someone have this problem? EDIT: <h:form id="form" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <t:inputFileUpload id="inputFile" size="40" value="#{managedBean.inputFile}"/> </h:form> In the managed bean: private UploadedFile inputFile; with the gets and sets provided by Eclipse. //This method scans the view root and returns the component with the id passed as parameter findComponentInRoot("form:inputFile"); This returns null, but when I use: //This method scans the view root and returns the component with the id passed as parameter findComponentInRoot("inputFile"); The return is the component I'm looking for, but when I use the View Source in Internet Explorer the id of this component is "form:inputFile". I don't know if this is related, but the component don't set the value in my managed bean and it's strange the fact that the id of the component is different from the HTML source. I'm using JSF 1.2 Mojarra. Someone else has this problem? Or know why this happens?

  • C++ boost mpl vector

    - by Gokul
    I understand that the following code won't work, as i is a runtime parameter and not a compile time parameter. But i want to know, whether there is a way to achieve the same. i have a list of classes and i need to call a template function, with each of these classes. void GucTable::refreshSessionParams() { typedef boost::mpl::vector< SessionXactDetails, SessionSchemaInfo > SessionParams; for( int i = 0; i < boost::mpl::size<SessionParams>::value; ++i ) boost::mpl::at<SessionParams, i>::type* sparam = g_getSessionParam< boost::mpl::at<SessionParams, i>::type >(); sparam->updateFromGucTable(this); } } Can someone suggest me a easy and elegant way to perform the same? i need to iterate through the mpl::vector and use the type to call a global function and then use that parameter to do some run-time operations. Thanks in advance, Gokul. Working code typedef boost::mpl::vector< SessionXactDetails, SessionSchemaInfo > SessionParams; class GucSessionIterator { private: GucTable& m_table; public: GucSessionIterator(GucTable& table) :m_table(table) { } template< typename U > void operator()(const U& ) { g_getSessionParam<U>()->updateFromGucTable(m_table); } }; void GucTable::refreshSessionParams() { boost::mpl::for_each< SessionParams >( GucSessionIterator(*this) ); return; }

  • X-Forwarded-For causing Undefined index in PHP

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, I am trying to integrate some third party tracking code into one of my sites, however it is throwing up some errors, and their support isn't being much use, so i want to try and fix their code myself. Most I have fixed, however this function is giving me problems: private function getXForwardedFor() { $s =& $this; $xff_ips = array(); $headers = $s->getHTTPHeaders(); if ($headers['X-Forwarded-For']) { $xff_ips[] = $headers['X-Forwarded-For']; } if ($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) { $xff_ips[] = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; } return implode(', ', $xff_ips); // will return blank if not on a web server } In my dev enviroment where I am showing all errors I am getting: Notice: Undefined index: X-Forwarded-For in /sites/webs/includes/OmnitureMeasurement.class.php on line 1129 Line 1129 is: if ($headers['X-Forwarded-For']) { If I print out $headers I get: Array ( [Host] => www.domain.com [User-Agent] => Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 [Accept] => text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 [Accept-Language] => en-gb,en;q=0.5 [Accept-Encoding] => gzip,deflate [Accept-Charset] => ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 [Keep-Alive] => 115 [Connection] => keep-alive [Referer] => http://www10.toptable.com/ [Cookie] => PHPSESSID=nh9jd1ianmr4jon2rr7lo0g553; __utmb=134653559.30.10.1275901644; __utmc=134653559 [Cache-Control] => max-age=0 ) I can't see X-Forwarded-For in there which I think is causing the problem. Is there something I should add to the function to take this into account? I am using PHP 5.3 and Apache 2 on Fedora

  • Is there a workaround for Linux mono's refusal to acknowledge that I have resized the columns of my

    When I resize a column, it does not redraw the data with the updated alignment. I've tried Invalidating, Refreshing, and a few other things. Nothing has worked. Does anyone know a workaround? • Help with Hashmaps in Java

  • OpenMP - running things in parallel and some in sequence within them

    - by Sayan Ghosh
    Hi, I have a scenario like: for (i = 0; i < n; i++) { for (j = 0; j < m; j++) { for (k = 0; k < x; k++) { val = 2*i + j + 4*k if (val != 0) { for(t = 0; t < l; t++) { someFunction((i + t) + someFunction(j + t) + k*t) } } } } } Considering this is block A, Now I have two more similar blocks in my code. I want to put them in parallel, so I used OpenMP pragmas. However I am not able to parallelize it, because I am a tad confused that which variables would be shared and private in this case. If the function call in the inner loop was an operation like sum += x, then I could have added a reduction clause. In general, how would one approach parallelizing a code using OpenMP, when we there is a nested for loop, and then another inner for loop doing the main operation. I tried declaring a parallel region, and then simply putting pragma fors before the blocks, but definitely I am missing a point there! Thanks, Sayan

  • How do you filter a view of a DataTable in .Net 3.5 sp1 using WPF c# and xaml?

    - by Tony
    I found the MSDN example code for getting the default view of a collection and adding a filter to the view, but most of it is for .Net 4.0. I'm on a team that is not currently switching to 4.0, so I don't have that option. None of the examples I found used a DataTable as the source, so I had to adapt it a little. I'm using a DataTable because the data is comming from a DB ans it's easy to populate. After trying to implement the MSDN examples, I get a "NotSupportedException" when I try to set the Filter. This is the c# code I have: protected DataTable _data = new DataTable(); protected BindingListCollectionView _filteredDataView; ... private void On_Loaded(Object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { _filteredDataView = (BindingListCollectionView)CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(_data); _filteredDataView.Filter = new Predicate(MatchesCurrentSelections); // throws NotSupportedException } ... public bool MatchesCurrentSelections(object o){...} It seems that either BindingListCollectionView does not support filtering in .Net 3.5, or it just doesn't work for a DataTable. I looked at setting it up in XAML instead of the C# code, but the XAML examples use collections in resources instead of a collection that is a memberof the class, so I have no idea how to set that up. Does any one know how to filter a view to a DataTable?

  • How do you send in the LayoutRoot into a RelayCommand via a EventToCommand?

    - by user298145
    Grid example with the trigger: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" DataContext="{Binding ProjectGrid, Source={StaticResource Locator}}"> <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="Loaded"> <GalaSoft_MvvmLight_Command:EventToCommand Command="{Binding LoadedCommand, Mode=OneWay}" PassEventArgsToCommand="True"/> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> In my ViewModel I set the LoadedCommand like this: public RelayCommand<RoutedEventArgs> LoadedCommand {get;private set;} And in the ViewModel initializer I have this: public ProjectGridViewModel() { LoadedCommand = new RelayCommand<RoutedEventArgs>(e => { this.DoLoaded(e); } ); } Then, in my DoLoaded I'm trying to do this: Grid _projectGrid = null; public void DoLoaded(RoutedEventArgs e) { _projectGrid = e.OriginalSource as Grid; } You can see I'm trying to get rid of my Loaded="" in my Grid in my view, and do a RelayCommand instead. The issue is the OriginalSource brings back nothing. My loaded event is running nice this way, but I need to get the Grid in via the RoutedEventArgs it seems. I tried passing in the Grid in the EventCommand with CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot}", but this just crashes VS2010 when hitting F5 and running the project. Any ideas? Or a better way to do this? I had the Loaded event run in the views C# then call the ViewModel in the Views code-behind, but I'd like to do a nicer binding. Talking to the ViewMode in the Views code-behind feels like a hack.

  • LINQ to Sql: Insert instead of Update

    - by Christina Mayers
    I am stuck with this problems for a long time now. Everything I try to do is insert a row in my DB if it's new information - if not update the existing one. I've updated many entities in my life before - but what's wrong with this code is beyond me (probably something pretty basic) I guess I can't see the wood for the trees... private Models.databaseDataContext db = new Models.databaseDataContext(); internal void StoreInformations(IEnumerable<EntityType> iEnumerable) { foreach (EntityType item in iEnumerable) { EntityType type = db.EntityType.Where(t => t.Room == item.Room).FirstOrDefault(); if (type == null) { db.EntityType.InsertOnSubmit(item); } else { type.Date = item.Date; type.LastUpdate = DateTime.Now(); type.End = item.End; } } } internal void Save() { db.SubmitChanges(); } Edit: just checked the ChangeSet, there are no updates only inserts. For now I've settled with foreach (EntityType item in iEnumerable) { EntityType type = db.EntityType.Where(t => t.Room == item.Room).FirstOrDefault(); if (type != null) { db.Exams.DeleteOnSubmit(type); } db.EntityType.InsertOnSubmit(item); } but I'd love to do updates and lose these unnecessary delete statements.

  • Is there a way to increase performance on my simple textfilter?

    - by djerry
    Hey guys, I'm writing a filter that will pick out items. I have a list of Objects. The objects contain a number, name and some other irrelevant items. At the moment, the list contains 200 items. When typing in a textbox, i'm looking if the string matches a part of the number/name of the objects in the list. If so, add them to the listbox. Here's the code for my textbox textchanged event : private void txtTelnumber_TextChanged(object sender, TextChangedEventArgs e) { lstOverview.Items.Clear(); string data = ""; foreach (ucTelListItem telList in _allUsers) { data = telList.User.H323 + telList.user.E164; if (data.Contains(txtTelnumber.Text)) lstOverview.Items.Add(telList); } } I sometimes see a little delay when entering a character, especially when i go from 4 records to 200 records (so when i had a filter and 4 records matched, and i backspace and the whole list appears again). My list is a list of usercontrols, cause i found it takes less time to load the usercontrols from a list, then to have to initialize a new usercontrol each time. Can i do something about the code, or is it just adding the usercontrol the listbox that causes the small delay (small delay = <1 sec)? Thanks in advance.

  • C++ class is not being included properly.

    - by ravloony
    Hello all, I have a problem which is either something I have completely failed to understand, or very strange. It's probably the first one, but I have spent the whole afternoon googling with no success, so here goes... I have a class called Schedule, which has as a member a vector of Room. However, when I compile using cmake, or even by hand, I get the following: In file included from schedule.cpp:1: schedule.h:13: error: ‘Room’ was not declared in this scope schedule.h:13: error: template argument 1 is invalid schedule.h:13: error: template argument 2 is invalid schedule.cpp: In constructor ‘Schedule::Schedule(int, int, int)’: schedule.cpp:12: error: ‘Room’ was not declared in this scope schedule.cpp:12: error: expected ‘;’ before ‘r’ schedule.cpp:13: error: request for member ‘push_back’ in ‘((Schedule*)this)->Schedule::_sched’, which is of non-class type ‘int’ schedule.cpp:13: error: ‘r’ was not declared in this scope Here are the relevant bits of code: #include <vector> #include "room.h" class Schedule { private: std::vector<Room> _sched; //line 13 int _ndays; int _nrooms; int _ntslots; public: Schedule(); ~Schedule(); Schedule(int nrooms, int ndays, int ntslots); }; Schedule::Schedule(int nrooms, int ndays, int ntslots):_ndays(ndays), _nrooms(nrooms),_ntslots(ntslots) { for (int i=0; i<nrooms;i++) { Room r(ndays,ntslots); _sched.push_back(r); } } In theory, g++ should compile a class before the one that includes it. There are no circular dependencies here, it's all straightforward stuff. I am completely stumped on this one, which is what leads me to believe that I must be missing something. :-D

  • MapScale not being persisted properly in mxd when programmatically changed outside of ArcMap environ

    - by Vidar
    I am trying to change the scale of a map in an mxd OUTSIDE of ArcMap in a standalone Windows application. The problem is the scale is never persisted - the best code I have come up with is the following: private void UpdateMapScaleInMxd(double scale, string mxdFullPath) { IMapDocument mapDocument = new MapDocumentClass(); mapDocument.Open(mxdFullPath, ""); IPageLayout pageLayout = (IPageLayout)mapDocument.ActiveView; IGraphicsContainer graphicsContainer = (IGraphicsContainer)pageLayout; graphicsContainer.Reset(); IMapFrame mapFrame; IActiveView tmpActiveView = null; IElement element = graphicsContainer.Next(); while (element != null) { if (element is IMapFrame) { mapFrame = (IMapFrame)element; tmpActiveView = (IActiveView)mapFrame.Map; mapFrame.ExtentType = esriExtentTypeEnum.esriExtentScale; mapFrame.MapScale = scale; tmpActiveView.Refresh(); } element = graphicsContainer.Next(); } mapDocument.Save(false, false); mapDocument.Close(); } I check the mxd by opening it up in ArcMap and the map scale has changed, although the little combobox to change the scale is now greyed out - does anyone know what that means!? So now I try to export the map as a PDF in code - and the most frustrating thing is - it exports the map at the previous scale that was set - NOT the scale I just changed it to! So infuriating - if anyone can help me understand where I am going wrong that would be great.

  • Partially constructed object / Multi threading

    - by reto
    Heya! I'm using joda due to it's good reputation regarding multi threading. It goes great distances to make multi threaded date handling efficient, for example by making all Date/Time/DateTime objects immutable. But here's a situation where I'm not sure if Joda is really doing the right thing. It probably is correct, but I'd be very interested to see the explanation for it. When a toString() of a DateTime is being called Joda does the following: /* org.joda.time.base.AbstractInstant */ public String toString() { return ISODateTimeFormat.dateTime().print(this); } All formatters are thread safe, as they are as well ready-only. But what's about the formatter-factory: private static DateTimeFormatter dt; /* org.joda.time.format.ISODateTimeFormat */ public static DateTimeFormatter dateTime() { if (dt == null) { dt = new DateTimeFormatterBuilder() .append(date()) .append(tTime()) .toFormatter(); } return dt; } This is a common pattern in single threaded applications. I see the following dangers: Race condition during null check -- worst case: two objects get created. No Problem, as this is solely a helper object (unlike a normal singleton pattern situation), one gets saved in dt, the other is lost and will be garbage collected sooner or later. the static variable might point to a partially constructed object before the objec has been finished initialization (before calling me crazy, read about a similar situation in this Wikipedia article. So how does Joda ensure that not partially created formatter gets published in this static variable? Thanks for your explanations! Reto
