  • Moving from Winforms to WPF

    - by Elmex
I am a long time experienced Windows Forms developer, but now it's time to move to WPF because a new WPF project is comming soon to me and I have only a short lead time to prepare myself to learn WPF. What is the best way for a experienced Winforms devleoper? Can you give me some hints and recommendations to learn WPF in a very short time! Are there simple sample WPF solutions and short (video) tutorials? Which books do you recommend? Is www.windowsclient.net a good starting point? Are there alternatives to the official Microsoft site? Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Future SAP RFC SDK

    - by Elmex
Is the SAP RFC SDK (wdtfuncs.ocx, wdtlog.ocx respectively Interop.SAPFunctionsOCX.dll, Interop.SAPLogonCtrl.dll) an acceptable / recommended way to connect (Microsoft) applications via RFCs with SAP ? Will there be a support and maintenance of the SDK in the future (especially in ECC 6.0) ? Are there people who use these controls in .NET applications ?

  • Usage of the "SAP Function OCX"

    - by Elmex
Makes it sense to use the "SAP Function Control" (wdtlog.ocx in connection with wdtlog.ocx and wdtaocx.ocx) to access (via the Interop-Assemblys SAPFunctionsOCX.dll, SAPLogonCtrl.dll and SAPTableFactoryCtrl.dll) to SAP with RFCs instead of the no longer supported SAP Connector of .NET ? I know there is also the product ERPConnect of the company "Theobald Software", but I only need RFC access ! Does anybody know, if these controls will also be supported in the future (ECC6.0) ?

  • Problem restoring a SQL Server backup

    - by Elmex
I have a SQL Server 2008, which is part of a domain. Now I make a backup of a database of this server and restore it on a SQL Server, which is not part of a domain. I have an C# application, which uses this database. On the NON-Domain machine I get now exceptions like this: "Cannot execute as the database prinzipal because the principial "dbo" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonatedm or you don not have the permission" I think, the problem is, that the database owner is a domain user and this user doesn't exist on the target machine (backup machine)!? How can I solve this ?

  • Visual Studio Lightswitch Beta2

    - by Elmex
What are your experiences with Beta2 of Visual Lightswitch? Can it already be used for real life projects? Does anybody know, when the final (RTM) version will be out? I am very intersting in using Lightswitch in the future for RAD, but I am a litte bit self-conscious, if the tool is flexible enough for my dividual requirements and if a Lightswitch solution can be extended with own code !? Can it be mixed with "normal" Silverlight?

  • ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC or Silverlight or a mixture of all ?

    - by Elmex
I want to start to implement a new web application from the scratch. I have 2 years experiences with ASP.NET. Now Microsoft offers ASP.NET MVC. I have read a little about the concepts behind, but I am not sure if I should use the classic ASP.NET variant or the new one. Perhaps it makes sense to mix it ? Or should I move to Silverlight ? What do you thing ? What are the advantages and disadvantages of all these variants ?

  • Future of the "SAP Java Connector"

    - by Elmex
Is the SAP Java Connector still a good way to connect a Java Application with SAP ? Will there be a support and maintenance of the connector in the future (especially in ECC 6.0) or is the one and only good way the usage of the "Enterprise Services" in ECC 6.0 ?
