Have you tried to switch to different kind of language and find a job in a "new language" ?

I'm a Java programmer(J2EE/JEE), but I'm thinking about switching to C#.

Does any of you have been in my position and have switched from Java to C# or C# to Java or C++ to Java, etc. ??

I'm NOT asking about switching between the same kind of languages, for example Java to Groovy/Scala/JRuby, C++ to C, VB to C#, C# to IronRuby/F#/VB.NET. Or if you company was C++, but has moved to Java(you had no choice and I'm about to make a choice).

Side question: How hard was it to get a job in a "new language"?
