Software center crashing in 12.04

i'm having issues with the Software Center.

I'm trying to install Google Chrome, but can't because the software center crashes as soon as it opens.

I've looked around at similar topics and found plenty but none of the suggested solutions have worked, so I wonder if this is different.

When I type 'software-center' into the terminal, I get the error that other's have had: softwarecenter.backend.reviews - WARNING - Could not get usefulness from server, no username in config file

I know this might seem like a duplicate, but none of the solution worked. Sorry, kind of new to Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu 12.04 lts
