    I have a property defined in a class like so: @interface myClass UIImageView *drawImage[4]; ... @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImageView **drawImage; ... @synthesize drawImage; // This fails to compile I have found similar questions on StackOverflow and elsewhere, but none that really address this issue. What is the most Objective-C kosher way to do this?

  • MySQL float values jumping around on insert?

    So i have a SQL table setup as such CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `points` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `lat` float(10,6) NOT NULL, `lng` float(10,6) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM; And im inserting stuff like INSERT INTO `points` (`lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('89.123456','-12.123456'); Gives me a row with lat and lng being 89.123459 and -12.123455 Whats up?

  • many-to-many query

    Hello, guys! I have a problem and I dont know what is better solution. Okay, I have 2 tables: posts(id, title), posts_tags(post_id, tag_id). I have next task: must select posts with tags ids for example 4, 10 and 11. Not exactly, post could have any other tags at the same time. So, how I could do it more optimized? Creating temporary table in each query? Or may be some kind of stored procedure? In the future, user could ask script to select posts with any count of tags (it could be 1 tag only or 10 at the same time) and I must be sure that method that I will choose would be the best method for my problem.   • Schema for storing "binary" values, such as Male/Female, in a database

    Intro I am trying to decide how best to set up my database schema for a (Rails) model. I have a model related to money which indicates whether the value is an income (positive cash value) or an expense (negative cash value). I would like separate column(s) to indicate whether it is an income or an expense, rather than relying on whether the value stored is positive or negative. Question: How would you store these values, and why? Have a single column, say Income, and store 1 if it's an income, 0 if it's an expense, null if not known. Have two columns, Income and Expense, setting their values to 1 or 0 as appropriate. Something else? I figure the question is similar to storing a person's gender in a database (ignoring aliens/transgender/etc) hence my title. My thoughts so far Lookup might be easier with a single column, but there is a risk of mistaking 0 (false, expense) for null (unknown). Having seperate columns might be more difficult to maintain (what happens if we end up with a 1 in both columns? Maybe it's not that big a deal which way I go, but it would be great to have any concerns/thoughts raised before I get too far down the line and have to change my code-base because I missed something that should have been obvious!     This probably isn't the best way, but I am currently retrieving the amount of RAM on a machine using: manageObjSearch.Query = new ObjectQuery("SELECT TotalVisibleMemorySize FROM Win32_OperatingSystem"); manageObjCol = manageObjSearch.Get(); foreach (ManagementObject mo in manageObjCol) sizeInKilobytes = Convert.ToInt64(mo["TotalVisibleMemorySize"]); It works well and good, but I feel I could be doing this more directly and without a foreach over a single element, but I can't figure out how to index a ManagementObjectCollection I want to do something like this: ManagementObject mo = new ManagementObject("Win32_OperatingSystem.TotalVisibleMemorySize") mo.Get(); Console.WriteLine(mo["TotalVisibleMemorySize"].ToString()) or maybe even something like ManagementClass mc = new ManagementClass("Win32_OperatingSystem"); Console.WriteLine(mc.GetPropertyValue("TotalVisibleMemorySize").ToString()); I just can't seem to figure it out. Any ideas?

  • Issue Querying LDAP DirectoryEntry in ASP.NET

Instead, it throws an error on the first Session line stating, "DirectoryServicesCOMException was unhandled by user code There is no such object on the server." Why? I know I'm giving it a valid username! Is something strange happening in the casting of the session? The code is essentially the same between each method except that in one method rather than pulling from ticket.Name I pull from a session variable for the login I'll be looking up with AD.

  • Works for Short Input, Fails for Long Input. How to Solve?

    I've this program which finds substring in a string. It works for small inputs. But fails for long inputs. Can any expert find me a solution? P.S: This is kinda like reinventing the wheel since strstr() has this functionality. But I'm trying for a non-library way of doing it.

    Hi there, I have a simple application to store address details and edit them. I have been away from VB for a few years now and need to refreash my knowledge while working to a tight deadline. I have a general Sub responsible for displaying a form where user can add contact details (by pressing button add) and edit them (by pressing button edit). This sub is stored in a class Contact. The way it is supposed to work is that there is a list with all the contacts and when new contact is added a new entry is displayed. If user wants to edit given entry he or she selects it and presses edit button Public Sub Display() Dim C As New Contact C.Cont = InputBox("Enter a title for this contact.") C.Fname = frmAddCont.txtFName.Text C.Surname = frmAddCont.txtSName.Text C.Address = frmAddCont.txtAddress.Text frmStart.lstContact.Items.Add(C.Cont.ToString) End Sub I call it from the form responsible for adding new contacts by Dim C As New Contact C.Display() and it works just fine. However when I try to do something similar using the edit button I get errors - "Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'AddressBook.Contact'."     In the page below,Topic__c is a single-select picklist. My intention is to have this list control which of the input fields is available below.   • IE 8 issue where window.close() is not occuring after winword.exe is fired to print a document

    In my web application, a popup page is called using window.open javascript. There is a Print button on the page that has an onclick event that calls a printchecks() function. The code in the printchecks() function is function printchecks(){ window.print(); window.close(); } Issue is that the window.print brings up the printer dialog fine and then you select a printer. The page is actually then printed and is a reference to an rtf document that opens in winword.exe behind the scenes. For some reason in IE 8, the window.close() does not occur. This worked in IE 7. In both cases, WINWORD.EXE process appears to run in the background after the page is printed but in the case of IE 8, control is not give back to that popup page until the WINWORD.EXE process dies which takes a minute or so. I am thinking that becasue control is not being sent back to the page in IE 8, the page is not closed automatically. You can close the page after control is given back after the minute or so. This does happen in IE on both Windows XP and Windows 7. Any ideas if there is a setting in IE 8 or some other reason this may be occuring?

  • Sensible unit test possible?

    Could a sensible unit test be written for this code which extracts a rar archive by delegating it to a capable tool on the host system if one exists? I can write a test case based on the fact that my machine runs linux and the unrar tool is installed, but if another developer who runs windows would check out the code the test would fail, although there would be nothing wrong with the extractor code. I need to find a way to write a meaningful test which is not binded to the system and unrar tool installed. Suppose two client machines are running a copy of the application and two users are accessing the same DB table. How can I automatically refresh the data on the GUI, that is being viewed by one client, as soon as a change is made by another client in the DB table-data? Which technology should be used to solve this particular scenario in .net? WCF?

  • How can I redirect the output of Perl's system() to a filehandle?

    With the open command in Perl, you can use a filehandle. However I have trouble getting back the exit code with the open command in Perl. With the system command in Perl, I can get back the exit code of the program I'm running. However I want to just redirect the STDOUT to some filehandle (no stderr). My stdout is going to be a line-by-line output of key-value pairs that I want to insert into a mao in perl. That is why I want to redirect only my stdout from my Java program in perl. Is that possible? Note: If I get errors, the errors get printed to stderr. One possibility is to check if anything gets printed to stderr so that I can quite the Perl script.

  • Shortest-path algorithms which use a space-time tradeoff?

    I need to find shortest paths in an unweighted, undirected graph. There are algorithms which can find a shortest path between two nodes, but this can take time. There are also algorithms for computing shortest paths for all pairs of nodes in the graph, but storing such a lookup table would take lots of disk space. What I'm wondering: Is there an algorithm which offers a space-time tradeoff that's somewhere between these two extremes? In other words, is there a way to speed up a shortest-path search, while using less disk space than would be occupied by an all-pairs shortest-path table? I know there are ways to efficiently store lookup tables for this problem, and I already have a couple of ideas for speeding up shortest-path searches using precomputed data. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel if there's already some established algorithm that solves this problem.

The hyperlink above is php generated, meant to trigger the above JavaScript function, and swap the url from attributes contained in ids "movie_url" and "embed_url". Works just like it should in FF, but IE will only perform the .css commands. My guess? IE doesn't like me assigning IDs to PARAM and EMBED, perhaps? What do you think?

  • Core Data - 'calculated' attributes

    I have two entities: A and B A has two properties from and to, both pointing to the B entity. B as a fetched property to A with predicate from == $FETCH_SOURCE or to = $FETCH_SOURCE -- (from) -> A -- (to) -> B <- (As) -- In my application I select a certain B instance, and then show all of its A instances. Now, in my table the columns are bound to an array controller containing the selected A instances. I want to 'merge' the from and to columns. I already know one of the columns will be equal to the selected B instance, so now I'm only interested in the second value. The options I see: create a custom class for the B entity and create a method that returns either value. It should somehow be able to retrieve which B instance is currently selected. create a custom DataSource. Most columns are still using bindings, so then we'd have to access the NSArrayController's array so we're sure we have the right object. create a custom DataSource, remove the NSArrayController and do all the Core Data stuff ourselves. Is there any 'right' way to solve this?

  • CheckBox Command Behaviors for Silverlight MVVM Pattern

    I am trying to detect when an item is checked, and which item is checked in a ListBox using Silverlight 4 and the Prism framework. I found this example on creating behaviors, and tried to follow it but nothing is happening in the debugger. I have three questions: Why isn't my command executing? How do I determine which item was checked (i.e. pass a command parameter)? How do I debug this?   • SerialVersionUID with "private static final long" still gets InvalidClassException

    I have compiled and jarred the various projects in my Java application, generating serialVersionUIDs automatically through Eclipse for all my classes derived from Serializable. I read the answers to this question, and verified that serialVersionUids are all private static final long. Nevertheless, I get an error like this when I try to run: java.io.InvalidClassException: com.acme.product.Widget; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 5226096973188250357, local class serialVersionUID = -5432967318654384362 What am I missing?
