  • Use Regular expression with fileinput

    Hello, I am trying to replace a variable stored in another file using regular expression. The code I have tried is: r = re.compile(r"self\.uid\s*=\s*('\w{12})'") for line in fileinput.input(['file.py'], inplace=True): print line.replace(r.match(line), sys.argv[1]), The format of the variable in the file is: self.uid = '027FC8EBC2D1' I am trying to pass in a parameter in this format and use regular expression to verify that the sys.argv[1] is correct format and to find the variable stored in this file and replace it with the new variable.     VB.NET: Can the .EXE built by VS2005 be deployed as a standalone EXE? When I change the mode in VS2005 to "Release" and build the solution, the bin\Release directory then contains the solution .EXE file, but also a .pdb, vshost.exe and .xml file. What are these extra files and are they necessary? I copied the .exe file to another machine and it executed properly, but there was a significant delay when it first executed - thereafter it was like any other program. What is the reason for this, and can it be helped? Is it because the other 3 files in the Release folder are not there with it?

  • Replacing a C++ ActiveX component with a .NET implementation?

    I have existing managed and unmanaged software using an ActiveX component supplied by a third party to perform some communications, but it is now required that this communication be routed through my application. Ideally I'd be able to install a .NET component which will expose exactly the same interface, and will be usable as a drop-in replacement. However, I am running into the limits of my understanding of COM, which admittedly is quite minimal. How best to ensure that my implementation of the interface is 100% binary compatible with the existing object? How do I ensure that applications use my implementation of the interface instead of the legacy implementation? Is it simply a matter of registering my implementation, and unregistering the legacy one? How do I ensure it's a "drop-in" replacement, and requires no changes to existing software? How do I ensure unmanaged code can use it without issue? Note: I am able to require that .NET 4.0 be used, if that will make things simpler.

  • Are self-described / auto-descriptive services loosely or tightly coupled in a SOA architecture ?

    I consider a self-described / auto-descriptive service as a good thing in a SOA architecture, since (almost) everything you know to call the service is present in the service contract (such a WSDL). Sample of a non self-described service for me is Facebook Query Language (FQL http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/FQL), or any web service exchanging XML flow in a one String parameter for then parsing XML and performing treatments. Last ones seem further more technically decoupled, since technically you can switch implementations without technical impact on the caller, handling compatibility between implementations/versions at a business level. On the other side, having no strong interface (diluted into the service and its version), make the service tightly coupled to the existing implementation (more difficulty to interchange the service and to ensure perfect compatibility).   • Number of characters recommended for a statement

    Hi, I have been using Qt 4.5 and so do C++. I have been told that it's a standard practice to maintain the length of each statement in the application to 80 characters. Even in Qt creator we can make a right border visible so that we can know whether we are crossing the 80 characters limit. But my question is, Is it really a standard being followed? Because in my application, I use indenting and all, so it's quite common that I cross the boundary. Other cases include, there might be a error statement which will be a bit explanatory one and which is in an inner block of code, so it too will cross the boundary. Usually my variable names look bit lengthier so as to make the names meaningful. When I call the functions of the variable names, again I will cross. Function names will not be in fewer characters either. I agree a horizontal scroll bar shows up and it's quite annoying to move back and forth. So, for function calls including multiple arguments, when the boundary is reached I will make the forth coming arguments in the new line. But besides that, for a single statement (for e.g a very long error message which is in double quotes " " or like longfun1()->longfun2()->...) if I use an \ and split into multiple lines, the readability becomes very poor. So is it a good practice to have those statement length restrictions? If this restriction in statement has to be followed? I don't think it depends on a specific language anyway. I added C++ and Qt tags since if it might. Any pointers regarding this are welcome.

    Hello All, I am facing one issue regarding one module let me clear the flow for the same. I have one customized UITableviewCell. When I am getting some new information I am posting one notification [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:KGotSomething object:nil userInfo:message]; In view where I am maintaining the table I am initiating a customized cell - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { cell= [[CustomCell alloc] initWithFrame: reuseIdentifier:identifier document:doc]; return cell; } now in customcell.mm - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(GotSomething:) name:KGotSomething object:nil]; } and in dealloc - (void)dealloc { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:KGotSomething object:nil]; } Now my app crashes due to this notification and dealloc is never get called.     I am using Propel as my DAL for my Symfony project. I can't seem to get my application to work across two or more databases. Here's my schema.yml: db1: lkp_User: pk_User: { type: integer, required: true, primaryKey: true, autoIncrement: true } UserName: { type: varchar(45), required: true } Password: longvarchar _uniques: Unique: [ UserName ] db2: tesco: Id: { type: integer, required: true, primaryKey: true, autoIncrement: true } Name: { type: varchar(45), required: true } Description: longvarchar And here's the databases.yml: dev: db1: param: classname: DebugPDO test: db1: param: classname: DebugPDO all: db1: class: sfPropelDatabase param: classname: PropelPDO dsn: 'mysql:dbname=bpodb;host=localhost' #where the db is located username: root password: #pass encoding: utf8 persistent: true pooling: true db2: class: sfPropelDatabase param: classname: PropelPDO dsn: 'mysql:dbname=mystore2;host=localhost' #where the db is located username: root password: #pass encoding: utf8 persistent: true pooling: true When I call php symfony propel-build-model, only db1 is generated, db2 is not. Any idea how to fix this problem?

  • Why does my exchange message filtering rule not work?

    I have two rules set up to sort incoming bug reports. The first is specific to a single device: Apply this rule after the message arrives sent to SMS Distribution and with <source_device_number>: in the body move it to the BugReports\<source_device_number> folder ..and the second is a catch-all for everything else: Apply this rule after the message arrives sent to SMS Distribution move it to the BugReports folder For some reason though, the first rule never seems to act even though it's higher in the list. So for some reason an email like the following doesn't seem to get caught by the first rule: From: <SourceDeviceUID> To: SMS Distributor Subject: Message from <SourceDeviceUID> Message: <source_device_number>: Device encountered a problem. Details below... ...where <source_device_number> is an integer. The second rule works fine. But for some high-priority devices, I want them automatically sorted. Why might that first rule fail?

Still I see various sources where I can download this kit when I search for it on Google. Is the Proofing Tools Kit available yet or not?   • Why doesn't genstrings convert NSLocalizedStringFromTable entries to table.strings?

    In my source code I have some lines like NSLocalizedStringFromTable(@"Info", @"en", @"Title of this view"). When I subsequently call genstrings -o en.lproj ./Classes/*.m I would not get the expected file en.strings but Localized.strings, although I've read in the genstrings-manpage that it would generate a table.strings file from NSLocalizedStringFromTable(a, table, c) function. Am I wrong? How would I create a table.strings file then?

    Hi, I am working for a project on disaster management sponsered by World Bank, under this project i have assigned work on CMS. and my senior has asked me to make a ASP.NET webpage where those logged with administrator privilege will be able to edit the page. like:- <div id="mydiv"><pre>+++++++MY CONTENT+++++++++++++++++++</pre></div> now if if the admin clicks on mydiv he should be able to edit the pre contents. for this i got many options such as WYSIWYG editors (but they work on textboxs only and further more they cant save the data back to server replacing the previous content) then I came to know about Webparts , but its editing capabilities was so low that my plan for implementing a WYSIWYG editor went in vain. so I m seeking help from u all is their any way to achieve the motive, it would be better if u can suggest something like incorporating WYSIWYG into webpartmanager editor...     I am converting GTT's to oracle types as explained in an excellent answer by APC. however, some GTT's are being updated based on a select query from another table. For example: UPDATE my_gtt_1 c SET (street, city, STATE, zip) = (SELECT src.unit_address, src.unit_city, src.unit_state, src.unit_zip_code FROM (SELECT mbr.ROWID row_id, unit_address, RTRIM(a.unit_city) unit_city, RTRIM(a.unit_state) unit_state, RTRIM(a.unit_zip_code) unit_zip_code FROM table_1 b, table_2 a, my_gtt_1 mbr WHERE type = 'ABC' AND id = b.ssn_head AND a.h_id = b.h_id AND row_id >= v_start_row AND row_id <= v_end_row) src WHERE c.ROWID = src.row_id) WHERE state IS NULL OR state = ' '; if my_gtt_1 was not a global temporary table but an oracle collection type then is it possible to do updates this complex? Or in these cases we are better off using the global temporary table?

    This is driving me NUTS! It's something that I've done 100s of time with a Datagrid. I'm now using a Gridview and I can't figure this out. I've got this grid: <asp:GridView AutoGenerateColumns="false" runat="server" ID="gvSelect" CssClass="GridViewStyle" GridLines="None" ShowHeader="False" PageSize="20" AllowPaging="True"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lbldas" Text="blahblah"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> And during the RowDataBound I've tried: Protected Sub gvSelect_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles gvSelect.RowCreated If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then e.Row.Attributes.Add("onMouseOver", "this.style.backgroundColor='lightgrey'") End If End Sub And it NEVER sets the row backcolor.. I've been successful in using: gridrow.Cells(0).BackColor = Drawing.Color.Blue But doing the entire row? NOPE! and it's driving me nuts.. does ANYONE have solution for me? It never gets set in the gridview.. and I don't know why.. I've traced through it.. and the code gets run.. :S
