    Hey, I'm not sure how difficult this but I have an array and would like to put it into and html table. I need to have two array strings per row, so if this were the array: $array1 = array( 1 => 'one', 2 => 'two', 3 => 'three', 4 => 'four', 5 => "five", 6 => 'six', ); And I need the html table to look like this: | one | two | |three| four | |five | six | Thanks!

  • Pattern for managing reference count and object life

    We have a serial port which is connected to hundreds of physical devices on the same wire. We have protocols like Modbus and Hart to handle the request and response between the application and devices. The question is related to managing the reference count of the channel. When no device is using the channel, the channel should be closed. public class SerialPortChannel { int refCount = 0; public void AddReference() { refCount++; } public void ReleaseReference() { refCount--; if (refCount <= 0) this.ReleasePort(); //This close the serial port } } For each device connected, we create a object for the device like device = new Device(); device.Attach(channel); //this calls channel.AddReference() When the device disconnect, device.Detach(channel); //this calls channel.ReleaseReference() I am not convinced by the reference count model. Are there any better way to handle this problem in .NET World?

  • Proper way to scan a range of IP addresses

    Given a range of IP addresses entered by a user (through various means), I want to identify which of these machines have software running that I can talk to. Here's the basic process: Ping these addresses to find available machines Connect to a known socket on the available machines Send a message to the successfully established sockets Compare the response to the expected response Steps 2-4 are straight forward for me. What is the best way to implement the first step in .NET? I'm looking at the System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping class. Should I ping multiple addresses simultaneously to speed up the process? If I ping one address at a time with a long timeout it could take forever. But with a small timeout, I may miss some machines that are available. Sometimes pings appear to be failing even when I know that the address points to an active machine. Do I need to ping twice in the event of the request getting discarded? To top it all off, when I scan large collections of addresses with the network cable unplugged, Ping throws a NullReferenceException in FreeUnmanagedResources(). !? Any pointers on the best approach to scanning a range of IPs like this?

  • How to Format Code in Research Reports

    I am currently writing a formal research report, and I'll be including code with this report. Question: Is there an accepted way of displaying code in research reports? I'm thinking both in terms of font, spacing, et cetera, and whether the code should be displayed inside the document, or in an appendix. The code will be JavaScript and PHP. None of the sections of code will be more than 25 lines (so they're mere snippets). There will be approx. half a dozen snippets. Each of the snippets will have a couple of paragraphs explaining what is happening in the code, and a discussion on its pros/cons. I have no contact with the body the report will be submitted to, and they have no published guidelines on how to format code (please do not question these points). Any help considered and appreciated.

  • Deploying site pages in SharePoint

    Hi, I have around 9 web parts and 3 pages to be deployed. Each page will be having 3 webparts. From a deploymnet perspective, i think i have the following two options: Deploy the pages using a feature. The pages will have webparts present. Create a custom site definition with a document library and have the three pages as part of the document library. Can you please let me know which one of the options is better or is there any better solution?. Please note that the solution needs to work on WSS 3.0 as well.

  • Specifying Android project dependencies (in Eclipse)

    I have two Android projects, a 'library project' containing a custom layout, and an 'application project' containing an application which uses the layout. Everything seems to build and execute fine, except that the visual layout editor throws a ClassNotFoundException (which I assume is a bug in the plug-in), but when I try to start to make use of the attributes I defined for the custom layout in the xml, I can no longer build. That is; this works: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <se.fnord.android.layout.PredicateLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="asdfasdf" /> </se.fnord.android.layout.PredicateLayout> Whereas this does not: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <se.fnord.android.layout.PredicateLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:fnord="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/se.fnord.android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView fnord:layout_horizontalSpacing="1px" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="asdfasdf" /> </se.fnord.android.layout.PredicateLayout> The build fails with a message from aapt: ERROR No resource identifier found for attribute 'layout_horizontalSpacing' in package 'se.fnord.android' The resource identifier does exist in the R-file and attrs.xml contained the library project, and if I put the layout code and resources directly in the application project everything works fine. The layout_horizontalSpacing attribute (and layout_verticalSpacing) is a custom attribute used in the PredicateLayout.LayoutParam class to specify the distance to the next widget. So far I've tried the standard eclipse ways by specifying project references and build path project dependencies. I was also told to try the tag in the application manifest, which did not help. So, what do I need to do for the references in the xml-file to work?   • Is this more suited for key value storage or a tree?

    I'm trying to figure out the best way to represent some data. It basically follows the form Manufacturer.Product.Attribute = Value. Something like: Acme.*.MinimumPrice = 100 Acme.ProductA.MinimumPrice = 50 Acme.ProductB.MinimumPrice = 60 Acme.ProductC.DefaultColor = Blue So the minimum price across all Acme products is 100 except in the case of product A and B. I want to store this data in C# and have some function where GetValue("Acme.ProductC.MinimumPrice") returns 100 but GetValue("Acme.ProductA.MinimumPrice") return 50. I'm not sure how to best represent the data. Is there a clean way to code this in C#?

  • How to control the memory size of continuously running windows service?

    Hi, I have created a windows service which is continuously polling a database. For this purpose i have a timer in place. Ever time i am querying a database table i open a connection and close it immediately after my work is done. Right now i am doing this every 20 seconds for testing purpose, but later this time might increase to 5 - 10 minutes. What happens is everytime the database table is polled there is an increase of 10-12 KB in the size of the memory of the service running. This i can see in the task manager. Is there any way to control this.
