  • Possible Data Execution Prevention problem in Windows 7

    I have a serious problem with my .Net program. It calls a native dll, and then crashes instantly because it can't find a native method. This is behaviour we have seen before, whereby the C# compiler, in its infinite wisdom, sets the flag that the program is DEP compatible, even if it calls a native dll which patently is not. We have the standard workaround for this, where the flag is set to Not DEP Compatible in a post-build step, and this works fine. Everywhere except on my machine. I have Windows 7 32bit, and the program works fine on the Win 7 64bit machines that we have, as well as on Vista and XP; we have not yet been able to check on another Win7 32bit. However, on my machine the DataExecutionPolicy_SupportPolicy is 0, i.e. we have successfully switched DEP off. The dll in question also works fine when called from a native program. We are running out of ideas... any help would be much appreciated!

  • How do I automate navigation to a website that requires authentication?

    Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I would like to write a script that will navigate to a website that requires me to be authenticated as myself, say Facebook, Live Spaces, Twitter or any other, and then have that script search for certain information on one of the pages of the website. I've done something similar in the past with the Windows.Forms WebBrowser control, which is a full blown implementation of IE that can be controlled through code and will store whatever cookies you get once you're authenticated, but it was very unfriendly to modify and I was hoping to use a scripting language instead, maybe Powershell or something of that sort. Are there maybe some good tutorials about this out there on the web? Thanks!

  • Problems related to showing MessageBox from non-GUI threads

    I'm working on a heavily data-bound Win.Forms application where I've found some strange behavior. The app has separate I/O threads receiving updates through asynchronous web-requests which it then sends to the main/GUI thread for processing and updating of application-wide data-stores (which in turn may be data-bound to various GUI-elements, etc.). The server at the other end of the web-requests requires periodic requests or the session times out. I've gone through several attempted solutions of dealing with thread-issues etc. and I've observed the following behavior: If I use Control.Invoke for sending updates from I/O-thread(s) to main-thread and this update causes a MessageBox to be shown the main form's message pump stops until the user clicks the ok-button. This also blocks the I/O-thread from continuing eventually leading to timeouts on the server. If I use Control.BeginInvoke for sending updates from I/O-thread(s) to main-thread the main form's message pump does not stop, but if the processing of an update leads to a messagebox being shown, the processing of the rest of that update is halted until the user clicks ok. Since the I/O-threads keep running and the message pump keeps processing messages several BeginInvoke's for updates may be called before the one with the message box is finished. This leads to out-of-sequence updates which is unacceptable. I/O-threads add updates to a blocking queue (very similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/530211/creating-a-blocking-queuet-in-net/530228#530228). GUI-thread uses a Forms.Timer that periodically applies all updates in the blocking queue. This solution solves both the problem of blocking I/O threads and sequentiality of updates i.e. next update will be never be started until previous is finished. However, there is a small performance cost as well as introducing a latency in showing updates that is unacceptable in the long run. I would like update-processing in the main-thread to be event-driven rather than polling. So to my question. How should I do this to: avoid blocking the I/O-threads guarantee that updates are finished in-sequence keep the main message pump running while showing a message box as a result of an update.

  • Privoxy-like proxy that handles multiple parallel connections?

    Hello I use Privoxy on my XP host to filter/rewrite web pages, but it's slower because all connections go through Privoxy's single port. According to this post on StackOverflow, by default, browsers support more than one simultaneous connection, which would explain why going through Privoxy is slower. Does someone know of a similar application that could handle more than one connection? Thank you.

  • send() always interrupted by EPIPE

    I've this weird behaviour in a multithreaded server programmed in C under GNU/Linux. While it's sending data, eventually will be interrupted by SIGPIPE. I managed to ignore signals in send() and treat errno after each action because of it. So, it has two individual sending methods, one that sends a large amount of data at once (or at least tries to), and another that sends a nearly similar amount and slices it in little chunks. Finally, I tried with this to keep it sending data. do { total_bytes_sent += send(client_sd, output_buf + total_bytes_sent, output_buf_len - total_bytes_sent, MSG_NOSIGNAL); } while ((total_bytes_sent < output_buf_len) && (errno != EPIPE)); This ugly piece of code does its work in certain situations, but not always. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware or ISP problem, as this server is running in six european servers, four in Germany and two in France. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I am not sure how to search for address matches using sql server 2008 full text search. This is what I tried but it doesn't return any records. TableA ------ Address1 Address2 City State Zip All the above columns in the table are full text indexed. Let's say if the user enters "123 Apple street FL 33647" and I have a record in the table as Address1 = "123" , Address2 = "Apple street", City = "Tampa", State = "FL" and Zip = "33647" I would like the query to return this. can you please let me know how I would do this. query tried -------------- SELECT * FROM TableA WHERE CONTAINS((Address1, Address2, City, State, zip), N'FORMSOF(THESAURUS, 123AppleStreetFL33647)'); If I put spaces in the search word, it is giving syntax error.     I have a form with some input texts passed in GET, and i don't want to have in GET all the fields; i want to avoid empty fields. So, a concrete example for: <form method="GET" action="an_url"> <input type="text" name="field1"/> <input type="text" name="field2"/> <input type="text" name="field3"/> <input type="submit" value="submit"/> </form> I supposed that fields disabled by html attribute "disabled" shouldn't be passed to GET. So i have done a js (based on jquery) to disable empty fields on submit, something like this: $("form").submit(function() { $(this).find("input[type=text]").each( function () { if (!$.trim($(this).val())) { $(this).attr("disabled", "true"); } }); }); However, this doesn't work. Any ideas?

THE TEST PASSES.(i.e Condones a calamitous [hypnosis + intellisense]-induced typo :) ) Could this test be written better? Or is there something I should know? Thanks a lot.

    Simple task: given that an article has many comments, be able to display in a long list of articles how many comments each article has. I'm trying to work out how to preload this data with Arel. The "Complex Aggregations" section of the README file seems to discuss that type of situation, but it doesn't exactly offer sample code, nor does it offer a way to do it in two queries instead of one joined query, which is worse for performance. Given the following: class Article has_many :comments end class Comment belongs_to :article end How can I preload for an article set how many comments each has?

  • Weblogic 10.3, JDBC, Oracle, SQL - Table or View does not exist

    Hi, I've got a really odd issue that I've not had any success googling for. It started happening with no changes to the DB, connection settings, code etc. Problem is, when accessing a servlet, one of the EJB's is doing a direct SQL call, very simple "select \n" + " value, \n" + " other_value \n" + " from \n" + " some_table \n" + " where some_condition = ? " That's obviously not the direct SQL, but pretty close. For some reason, this started returning an error stating "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist". The table exists, and the kicker is if I hook in a debugger, change a space or something minor (not changing the query itself) in the query, and hot-deploy the change, it works fine. This isn't the first time I've run across this. It only seems to happen in dev environments (haven't seen it in q/a, sandbox, or production yet), is not always replicable, and driving me seriously insane. By not always replicable I mean that occasionally a clean build & redeploy will sometimes fix the problem, but not always. It's not always the same table (although if the error occurs it continues with the same query). Just throwing a feeler out there to see if anybody has run into issues like this before, and what they may have discovered to fix it.

  • Touch event missing when pushing new view

    Hello, I am new in iPhone programming. At the moment I am trying to recognize a constant touch. For example I want the user to leave his finger on the screen for the whole application. I use a navigationcontroller which holds the different views. If the user now touches the screen in view1 and then the view is changed to view2 by pushing it on the stack (with pushviewcontroller) with still touching the screen then there are no touch events recognized by view2. If the user then releases his finger (no touch event) and touches the screen again then all events are recognized. Is this a bug or am I doing something totally wrong? I haven't found any answer on this. Could someone help me?

  • when updating location.hash in Chrome the jQuery animation "freezes" for a second

    I'm trying to create a sort of "virtual gallery". I'm using Coda Slider 2.0 & jQuery v1.4.2 It behaves perfectly in IE, FF & Safari, but Chrome seems to reload/hang for a second when setting location.hash. This causes the jQuery animation to freeze for a second :S Example: http://hardyernst.dk/gallery.html try clicking on the navigation links above the pictures.     Hi all , I urgently need your help . I am new to consuming a web service using SOAP protocol. I have been given a demo webservice URL which ends in .WSDL and NOT .asml?WSDL. The problem is I cannot add a web reference using Visual studio OR Disco.exe or Wsdl.exe - This webservice has been created on a java platform and for security reasons the only way to make a invoke the webservice is at runtime using SOAP protocol IN asp.net (VB).     Hi I have this matrix A, representing similarities of pixel intensities of an image. For example: Consider a 10 x 10 image. Matrix A in this case would be of dimension 100 x 100, and element A(i,j) would have a value in the range 0 to 1, representing the similarity of pixel i to j in terms of intensity. I am using OpenCV for image processing and the development environment is C on Linux. Objective is to compute the Eigenvectors of matrix A and I have used the following approach: static CvMat mat, *eigenVec, *eigenVal; static double A[100][100]={}, Ain1D[10000]={}; int cnt=0; //Converting matrix A into a one dimensional array //Reason: That is how cvMat requires it for(i = 0;i < affnDim;i++){ for(j = 0;j < affnDim;j++){ Ain1D[cnt++] = A[i][j]; } } mat = cvMat(100, 100, CV_32FC1, Ain1D); cvEigenVV(&mat, eigenVec, eigenVal, 1e-300); for(i=0;i < 100;i++){ val1 = cvmGet(eigenVal,i,0); //Fetching Eigen Value for(j=0;j < 100;j++){ matX[i][j] = cvmGet(eigenVec,i,j); //Fetching each component of Eigenvector i } } Problem: After execution I get nearly all components of all the Eigenvectors to be zero. I tried different images and also tried populating A with random values between 0 and 1, but the same result. Few of the top eigenvalues returned look like the following: 9805401476911479666115491135488.000000 -9805401476911479666115491135488.000000 -89222871725331592641813413888.000000 89222862280598626902522986496.000000 5255391142666987110400.000000 I am now thinking on the lines of using cvSVD() which performs singular value decomposition of real floating-point matrix and might yield me the eigenvectors. But before that I thought of asking it here. Is there anything absurd in my current approach? Am I using the right API i.e. cvEigenVV() for the right input matrix (my matrix A is a floating point matrix)? cheers

  • Safe division function

    I would like to define some kind of safe division (and modulo) function, one that would return some predefined value when attempting to divide by zero. I don't want to throw exceptions, just to return some "reasonable" value (1? 0?) and continue the program flow. Obviously there is no correct return value, but I wonder if there is some standard or known approach to this

    I am trying to capture the cpu usage from the running process. For SunOS, I have below output process,10050,user1,218,59,0,1271M,1260M,sleep,58.9H,0.02%,java here the cpu % is at 11th field if we separate by comma(,). To get this value I am using below regex regex => q/^process,(?:.*?),((?:\d+)\.(?:\d+))%,java$/, but for the linux system I have below output. process,26190,user1,20,0,1236m,43m,6436,S,0.0,1.1,0:00.00,java, here the cpu usage is at 10th column What regex pattern should i use to get this value. Appreciate for any suggestion.

  • Wrapping allocated output parameters with a scoped_ptr/array

    So, I have some code which looks like this: byte* ar; foo(ar) // Allocates a new[] byte array for ar ... delete[] ar; To make this safer, I used a scoped_array: byte* arRaw; scoped_array ar; foo(arRaw); ar.reset(arRaw); ... // No delete[] The question is, Is there any existing way to do this using just the scoped_array, without using a temporary raw array? I can probably write an in-place "resetter" class, just wondering if the functionality exists and I'm missing it. Thanks, Dan

    I am very new to C++ and I realise the following is not necessarily as easy as I'd like it to be, but I'd really appreciate a more expert opinion. I am essentially trying to achieve a dynamic iteration over a variable sized array of variable sized arrays similar to the following. String *2d_array[][] = {{"A1","A2"},{"B1","B2","B3"},{"C1"}}; for (int i=0; i<2d_array.length; i++) { for (int j=0; j<2d_array[i].length; j++) { print(2d_array[i][j]); } } Is there a reasonable way to do this?
