  • Non-Access or -base QBE tool?

    Hello. I'm currently looking for a QBE tool that can execute queries on PostgreSQL or MySQL. OS doesn't really matter. Reason is that we've got to do QBE at school but I don't want to use neither Microsoft Access nor OpenOffice.org Base (lack of features). Any help would be appreciated.

  • C++ Declaring an enum within a class

    In the following code snippet, the Color enum is declared within the Car class in order to limit the scope of the enum and to try not to "pollute" the global namespace. class Car { public: enum Color { RED, BLUE, WHITE }; void SetColor( Car::Color color ) { _color = color; } Car::Color GetColor() const { return _color; } private: Car::Color _color; }; (1) Is this a good way to limit the scope of the Color enum? Or, should I declare it outside of the Car class, but possibly within its own namespace or struct? I just came across this article today, which advocates the latter and discusses some nice points about enums: http://gamesfromwithin.com/stupid-c-tricks-2-better-enums. (2) In this example, when working within the class, is it best to code the enum as Car::Color, or would just Color suffice? (I assume the former is better, just in case there is another Color enum declared in the global namespace. That way, at least, we are explicit about the enum to we are referring.) Thanks in advance for any input on this.

  • JQuery UI (1.8) Select Event not working on Autocomplete

    I am trying to use JQuery UI autocomplete (1.8) for an app. It is set up like this: $('#txtigtags').autocomplete({ serviceUrl: '/tags/searchtags' + $('#txtigtags').val(), minChars: 2, delimiter: ' ', select: function () { alert(''); }, deferRequestBy: 500 }); According to the documentation the select event should fire whenever an entry is selected in the drop-menu and I should get the alert. But the select event is not firing at all. Neither is focus. What am I doing wrong?

  • safely reading directory contents

    Is it safe to read directory entries via readdir() or scandir() while files are being created/deleted in this directory? Should I prefer one over the other? When I say "safe" I mean entries returned by these functions are valid and can be operated without crushing the program. Thanks.

  • how can I get instance from the property.

    In my application I have a class which has properties of user-defined types like this: class MyType { public A MyProperty { get; set; } } class A { .....some methods and proeprties } for some operations that I need to perform from my main program, I create a List of MyProperty whenever creating object of MyType and pass it to my main program and there I perform different operation on these properties which reflects in there instances also. Is there any way by which I could get the object instance for any particular MyProperty from that property in the list.

    Hello, Which query to write in JPQL for backing up database on disk? If in JPQL it's not available even native sql query will do. Also, i would like to bring one issue in front of stackoverflow developers :- This site doesn't properly work in Opera (Opera 9.63). Whenever i write question and click "Post Your question" The button click event doesn't fire at all, may be, the server side event doesn't fire or something. However, no such problem comes in IE and firefox.

  • A business Case for Enterprise Python

    Hi all, This will not be a "programming" question but more technology / platform related question. I'm trying to figure out whether Python can be a suitable Java alternative for enterprise / web applications. Which are the ideal cases where you would prefer to use Python instead of Java? How would a typical Python web application (databases/sessions/concurrency) perform as compared to a typical Java application? How do specific Python frameworks square up against Java based frameworks (Spring, SEAM, Grails etc.)? For businesses, switching from the Java infrastructure to a Python infrastructure .. is it too hard/expensive/resource intensive/not viable? Also shed some light on the business case for providing a Python + Google AppEngine based solution to the end customer. Will it be cost effective in an typical scenario? Sorry if I am asking too wide a question, I would have liked to keep it specific, but I need your help to evaluate Python as a whole from the perspectives of the programmers, service providing company and end business customer. For an SME, a Python/GoogleAppEngine based technology stack is a clear scalable and affordable platform. But what about a large MNC that already has a lot invested in Java. Thank you so much.   • Is there a good Open Source, XSD based Web Editor?

    I'm looking for a good open source web editor that will take xsd (or some other standard XML) and from that generate web forms that will enable the end user to generate standard xml (without knowing anything about xml obliviously). I took a look at kupu, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation and the site appears to no longer exist. Is there anything out there that does this already. I could write something like this myself, but if there's something that out there that will save me some time that would be great. Thanks

I provided all the information of the sql express but it still can't connect. My machine has got 1.) SQL Server 2000 [Default instance eg computername ] 2.) SQL Server Express 2005 [Default Named Instance eg computername$SQLExpress ] *I can make easy connection from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.   • Access property name (e.g. self.theProperty) in ObjC

    I'm trying to read property name but I'm not shore how. Is it possible in ObjC to get string "theProperty" from self.theProperty? I know how to read all properties (with "class_copyPropertyList") and their names (with "property_getName") but couldn't find a way to do something like: NSString *text = [self.theProperty somehowReadThePropertyName]; // expected result is: text == @"theProperty" Any ideas?

  • Can Tomcat provide seperate (or HTTPS only) sessions for HTTPS requests?

    I have a web application which contains both secure (SSL) and non-secure pages. A user can login to the site and must appear logged-in in both the SSL and non-SSL areas. (NB. SSL isn't implemented via Tomcat, but via Apache HTTPD servers which sit in front of Tomcat - so Tomcat has no SSL configuration.) The logged-in state is currently maintained via a servlet session (using Tomcat's vanilla session management). The obvious issue with this approach is that the JSESSIONID cookie is transported over both HTTP and HTTPS connections, meaning that it's potentially possible to intercept it and hijack the session. Are there any solutions to this without rolling our own session management (i.e. does Tomcat cater for this situation)? I'm prepared to implement our own session management, but don't want to reinvent something that may already be supported.

  • Pre Commit Hook for JSLint in Mercurial and Git

    I want to run JSLint before a commit into either a Mercurial or Git repo is done. I want this as an automatic step that is set up instead of relying on the developer (mainly me) remembering to run JSLint before-hand. I normally run JSLint while developing, but want to specify a contract on JS files that they pass JSLint before being committed to the repo. For Mercurial, this page spells out the precommit syntax, but the only variables that seem to be available are the parent1 and parent2 changeset IDs involved in the commit. What I really want are a list of file names that are involved with the commit, so that I can then choose the .js file and run jslint over them. Similar issue for GIT, the default info available as part of the precommit script seems limited. What might work is calling hg status/git status as part of the precommit script, parse that output to find JS files then do the work that way. I was hoping for something easier though, and I am not sure if calling status as part of a precommit hook reflect the correct information. For instance in Git if the changes files have not been added yet, but the git commit uses -a, would the files show up in the correct section of the git status output as being part of the commit set?   • UIView animation only animating some of the things I ask it to

    I have a series of (say) boxes on the screen in a row, all subviews of my main view. Each is a UIView. I want to shift them all left and have a new view also enter the screen from the right in lockstep. Here's what I'm doing: // First add a dummy view offscreen UIView * stagingView = /* make this view, which sets up its width/height */ CGRect frame = [stagingView frame]; frame.origin.x = /* just off the right side of the screen */; [stagingView setFrame:frame]; [self stagingView]; And then I set up animations in one block for all of my subviews (which includes the one I just added): [UIView beginAnimations:@"shiftLeft" context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(_animationDidStop:context:)]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; for (UIView * view in [self subviews]) { CGRect frame = [view frame]; frame.origin.x -= (frame.size.width + viewPadding); [view setFrame:frame]; } [UIView commitAnimations]; Here's what I expect: The (three) views already on screen get shifted left and the newly staged view marches in from the right at the same time. Here's what happens: The newly staged view animates in exactly as expected, and the views already on the screen do not appear to move at all! (Or possibly they jump without animation to their end locations). And! If I comment out the whole business of creating the new subview offscreen... the ones onscreen do animate correctly! Huh? We use the "Accesskey" attribute in IE to provide short cuts to our buttons. However, how do we do this in Thai? Does HTML and IE support unicode access keys and if so how? Our application is IE specific, so any specific technology that IE uses is welcome.

    hi, what information should i know to do the following: we will have 2 servers, each one will have a cPanel WHM installed and 2 will have DNS, we want to insure that redundancy is achieved on both servers, means the servers should work as active/standby unit. 2 cPanel active/standby 2 DNS active/standby also does this have any impact on the mySQL database, do we have to buy another server to use it as the mySQL database or it's possible to sync all the cPanel information from one server to another. thank you.

  • Cisco ASA not forwarding traffic from one interface to another

    Hello ServerFault, I am needing help in the configuration process of my Cisco ASA 5510. I have set up 4 Cisco ASA interconnected together via a big LAN. Each Cisco ASA has 3 or 4 LANs attached to them. The IP routing part is taken care of by OSPF. My problem is on another level. A computer connected to one of the LANs attached to an ASA has no problem communicating with the outside world. The outside world being anything "after" the ASA. My problem is that I am completely unable to have them communicate with another LAN connected to the same ASA. To rephrase this, I am unable to send traffic from one interface of a given ASA to another interface of the same ASA.
