  • jQuery .die isnt killing an attached event?

    Hi I've just started experimenting with .live and .die and having some great results but one thing isn't working. I've been tinkering with firebugs console to try out my written code live to see if i can figure out the reason why .die isn't killing off an attached event. First if i do this //attach ajax submission $('a[href$=edit]').live("click", function(event) { $.get($(this).attr("href"), null, null); return false; }); Then as expected when I click on a link the ajax fires off and my server side code injects a form for inline editing. But sometimes I want to disable this behaviour and also make the link unclickable so I do the following //unbind ajax form creation when we click on a link, then disable its semantic behaviour $('a[href$=edit]').die("click").click( function(){ return false; } ); which works but if then try to remove this and restore that ajax goodness with the code below it doesn't work, Instead the link remains unclickable. I cant figure out why? Can anyone help? //remove any previous events from the links $('a[href$=edit]').die(); //attach ajax submission $('a[href$=edit]').live("click", function(event) { $.get($(this).attr("href"), null, null); return false; });

  • C#/.NET: WinForms - "KeyPress" event for textbox is missing?

    Hi, I am trying to add an "KeyPress" event in a textbox (WinForm) this.textBox1.KeyPress += new System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventHandler(CheckKeys); and here's inside the 'CheckKeys': private void CheckKeys(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs e) { if (e.KeyChar == (char)13) { // Enter is pressed - do something } } The idea here is that once a textbox is in focus and the 'Enter' button was pressed, something will happen... However, my machine cannot find the 'KeyPress' event. Is there something wrong with my codes? I need a little help on this one. Thanks.

  • jquery draggable into sortable only works after sorting

    Hi, I'm experiencing problems with a simple combination of a Draggable and Sortable: initially, the dragging does not work and I do not get a receive callback. Only after I have done a sort (i.e. change the position of things in #workarea), can I drag new things into it. Somehow it seems as if the sortable needs to be 'initialized' before it accepts draggables. My code, in a simplified version: $(".element_draggable").draggable({ zIndex: 2, helper: 'clone', connectToSortable: '#workarea'}); $("#workarea").sortable({ receive: function() {alert('received');} }); Does anyone have an idea on what I could be doing wrong here?

  • How to pass SQLXML type to view in Spring MVC?

    Hello! In my webapp controller I'm getting results from the db, which are of type SQLXML. I want to pass it to the view to be returned verbatim (as XML). The problem is, the data associated with SQLXML is released as soon as I leave JdbcTemplate call. How then should I pass the data to the view using a model? Best regards, ho.

  • Parallel port blocking

    I have a legacy Java program which handles a special card printer by sending binary data to the LPT1 port (no printer driver is involved, the Java program creates the binary stream). The program was working correctly with the client's old computer. The Java program sent all the bytes to the printer and after sending the last byte the program was not blocked. It took an other minute to finish the card printing, but the user was able to continue the work with the program. After changing the client's computer (but not the printer, or the Java program), the program does not finish the task till the card is ready, it is blocked until the last second. It seems to me that LPT1 has a different behavior now than was before. Is it possible to change this in Windows? I've checked BIOS for parallel port settings: The parallel port is set to EPP+ECP (but also tried the other two options: Bidirectional, Output only). Maybe some kind of parallel port buffer is too small? How can I increase it?

The secondary is able to accept emails, but how to I push to the primary server? I need a little hint where I have to look at the configuration (I do the most stuff with webmin (o: ) Thank you...   • automatic IIS worker process recycle fails

    The server is set to its default configuration to recycle the app pool every 1740 minutes. When this happens the following message is logged: A worker process with process id of '1234' serving application pool 'XX' has requested a recycle because the worker process reached its allowed processing time limit. Directly after logging this message, the web site is unresponsive. The only way to get it back online is by running iisreset manually. Does anyone know a fix for this behavior, other than turning the recycle feature off? Is it a known problem?

  • Cant connect to MySQL server from Java application

    This is on VPS\Centos server. The MySQL server is pre configured. I am running the Java application on Tomcat My Java web application is not able to connect to the MySQL server. I get an error - "Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused" I suspect this to be a configuration problem rather than a coding problem- hence I have posted this on ServerFault And yes, The same web-app is able to connect to MySQL on a different linux box This is the URL that I provided to my Java application (note- it assumes default port) url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/pickupgames" My first suspicion was that I am running on a non-default port So I tried to find the port where mySQL server is running I tried every trick mentioned in http://serverfault.com/questions/116100/how-to-check-what-port-mysql-is-running-on But no luck ! SHOW GLOBAL VARIABLES LIKE 'PORT'; This shows port 0 netstat -tlnp doesn't show mysql at all /etc/my.cnf It has no port entry telnet localhost 3306 Doesn't connect And in case you are wondering if mysql server is running at all or not It is And I know for sure, because I have been able to login using the mysql command Also # ps -ef|grep 'mysql' root 31839 27662 0 00:49 pts/3 00:00:00 grep mysql root 32452 1 0 Apr02 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking mysql 32504 32452 0 Apr02 ? 00:00:06 /usr/libexec/mysqld --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid --skip-external-locking --socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking Please note the --skip-networking parameter Does this have something to do with the issue ? Any explanation why I cant connect to mysql server on port 3306 by telnet? Or why it docent show up under netstat? Any suggestion on whet I should try next ?

  • Cam being used by another application

    On my laptop doesn't work any camera. I get error: "Camera being used by another application"". I don`t known which program using it. I tried use software like "SplitCam" or "ManyCam". Also I reinstalled K-lite codec to newest, but still getting this error. I get the same error when I turn my Canon video camera to laptop using firewire cable.   • sftpd: No available certificate or key corresponds to the SSL cipher suites which are enabled?

    Hello. I'm trying to setup vsftpd on Fedora 12. I need to require use of FTPS, and for now need to use a self-signed SSL certificate. I managed to get the vsftpd service running and to connect as my user. I can list the home directory, but as soon as I try to list another directory, download or upload a file, I get this error: No available certificate or key corresponds to the SSL cipher suites which are enabled. And the xfer log is empty. I've been Googling it for a while now, but still can't understand the problem. Here's how I installed vsftpd: su yum install vsftpd chkconfig vsftpd on service vsftpd start I tried to generate the certificate in two ways.     Hi everybaody, I'm studing C++ and I can't understand the meaning of the boldface sentence below: From IBM manual: The following restrictions apply to constructors and destructors: Constructors and destructors do not have return types nor can they return values. References and pointers cannot be used on constructors and destructors because their addresses cannot be taken. Constructors cannot be declared with the keyword virtual. Constructors and destructors cannot be declared static, const, or volatile. Unions cannot contain class objects that have constructors or destructors. Could you please provide me an example?   • Subroutine & GoTo design

    I have a strange question concerning subroutines: As I'm creating a minimal language and I don't want to add high-level loops like while or for I was planning on just adding gotos to keep it Turing-Complete. Now I thought, eww - gotos - I wouldn't want to program in that language if I had to use gotos so often. So I thought about adding subroutines instead. I see the difference as the following: gotos Go to (captain obvious) a previously defined point and continue executing the program from there. Leads to hardly understandable and buggy code, I think that's a fact. subroutines Similiar: You define their starting point somewhere, as you call them the program jumps there - but the subroutine can go back to the point it was called from with return. Okay. Why didn't I just add the more function-like, nice looking subroutines? Because: In order to make return work if I call subroutines from within subroutines from within other subroutines, I'd have to use a stack containing the point where the currently running subroutine came from at top. That would then mean that I would, if I create loops using the subroutines, end up with an extremely memory-eating, overflowing stack with return locations. Not good. Don't think of my subroutines as functions. They are just gotos that return to the point they were called from, they don't actually give back values like the return x; statement in nearly all today's languages. Now to my actual questions: How can I solve the above problem with the stack overflow on loops with subroutines? Do I have to add a separate goto language construct without the return option? Assembler doesn't have loops but as I have seen myJumpPoint:, jnz, jz, retn. That means to me that there must also be a stack containing all the return locations. Am I right with that? What about long running loops then? Don't they overflow the stack/eat memory then? Am I getting the retn symbol in assembler totally wrong? If yes, please explain it to me.

  • How can I receive messages using C# over http without MSMQ

    I need a reliable messaging framework that runs over http/https (due to client security requirements) and that doesn't use MSMQ (because some clients will use Windows XP Home). The clients only need to be able to receive messages, not send them. We already have a message queue on the server for each user, and the receivers have been getting messages by connecting to an HttpHandler on the server and getting a Stream from WebResponse.GetResponseStream() We keep this stream open, and pull messages off of it using Stream.Read(). This MOSTLY works, but Stream.Read() is a blocking call, and we can't reliably interrupt it. We need to be able to stop and start the receiver without losing messages, but the old stream often hangs around, even after we call Thread.Abort on its thread. Any suggestions?

Then I tried to use the PlaybackState by polling the property with a timer: public PlaybackState PlaybackState { get { if (_playbackDevice == null) return default(PlaybackState); return _playbackDevice.PlaybackState; } } But when the song ends it does not change to "stopped". But when I call Stopped it changes correctly. Can someone help me?

  • Where to get working Sysinternals tools for Windows 2000?

    Yes, I know Windows 2000 will run end-of-life in this year, but we still have a lot of Windows 2000 boxes we try to migrate but no idea if all of them can be migrated this year... Recently I downloaded a new Sysinternals Suite (most recent file date 2010-03-25) and noticed that some tools just do not work on Windows 2000 any longer, which makes troubleshooting a lot harder. I checked all the tools in the suite to check which tools do not work, and dug through to find older versions that do work, but I don't know if there are more recent ones (with fewer bugs) available. I did not find any way to download old versions from Sysinternals website. :-( So here is my list: Does not work Works ADExplorer.exe 1.30.0.0 ? Coreinfo.exe 2.00 ? disk2vhd.exe 1.5.0.0 ? livekd.exe 3.14 3.0 procdump.exe 1.72 ? Procmon.exe 2.8 (Frequent crashes) Filemon/Regmon 7.04 ShellRunas.exe 1.01 ? vmmap.exe 2.62 2.2 ZoomIt.exe 4.1 1.21 If you know of any more recent versions (preferrably with download links) that work on Windows 2000, or an official download link for older versions, it would be highly appreciated.

  • WPF TextBox Custom Dictionary Support

    Has anyone found a workaround yet for getting custom dictionary support working for the built in spellchecking on WPF TextBoxes/RichTextBoxes? We've been probing the spelling stuff with reflector hoping to find where the dictionary entries are coming from, but it's looking very much like it's going to be a COM object.... I know it's not currently supported and that Microsoft were looking into supporting it in a future release, but that was quite a while ago and I can't seem to find any recent news about it.   • How can I achieve this kind of relationship (inheritance, composition, something else)?

    I would like to set up a foundation of classes for an application, two of which are person and student. A person may or may not be a student and a student is always a person. The fact that a student “is a” person led me to try inheritance, but I can't see how to make it work in the case where I have a DAO that returns an instance of person and I then want to determine if that person is a student and call student related methods for it. class Person { private $_firstName; public function isStudent() { // figure out if this person is a student return true; // (or false) } } class Student extends Person { private $_gpa; public function getGpa() { // do something to retrieve this student's gpa return 4.0; // (or whatever it is) } } class SomeDaoThatReturnsPersonInstances { public function find() { return new Person(); } } $myPerson = SomeDaoThatReturnsPersonInstances::find(); if($myPerson->isStudent()) { echo 'My person\'s GPA is: ', $myPerson->getGpa(); } This obviously doesn't work, but what is the best way to achieve this effect? Composition doesn't sond right in my mind because a person does not “have a” student. I'm not looking for a solution necessarily but maybe just a term or phrase to search for. Since I'm not really sure what to call what I'm trying to do, I haven't had much luck. Thank you!

  • Changing models in django results in broken database?

    I have added and removed fields in my models.py file and then run manage.py syncdb. Usually I have to quit out of the shell and restart it before syncdb does anything. And then even after that, I am getting errors when trying to access the admin pages, it seems that certain new fields that I've added still don't show up in the model: Caught an exception while rendering: no such column: mySite_book.Title
