  • How do I make the "back button" work with jQuery hide/show functions?

    I'm looking for a way to append text to the url with jQuery so that the back button is not broken when a user loads new content with jQuery. For example, I have a three step form - the first step is (www.xyz.com/form-1). When the user clicks next step, jQuery slides in the next page. I would like that page to be (www.xyz.com/form-2). I know websites like hypem.com do this, I'm just looking for an elegant way to handle it.

  • Facebook - using an external flash application to connect via PHP

    So, I have this application that needs to connect to facebook. It uses php for all of its data access, in older examples of the facebook API, i see people get the UID, and sessionkey from the iframe page, then send them to php and run a function called $facebook-setUser($UID, $sessionKey). This is how the majority of the tutorials online are doing it. That would be great, except the newest facebook API doesn't have any function like that. I have been scouring the web for 2 hours and have found nothing relating to the disappearance of this seemingly critical function. So, I have a flash application that needs to authenticate via a stateless php resource. I would love it if my PHP code could be completely uncaring if the request originated from flash, or iphone, or another application altogether-it should just need userId and and sessionKey. Is this still possible? Thank you in advance for your help! :)

  • "Hide file names" for all files? Windows 7

    So, I just discovered that you can hide the filenames of pictures and videos when you are in a thumbnail view in explorer (via View - Hide file names)... but often I have other files mixed in. This causes the thumbnails to be all spaced out. How can I hide all file names (maybe folders too)?

  • Should I stop redirecting after successful POST or PUT requests?

    It seems common in the Rails community, at least, to respond to successful POST, PUT or DELETE requests by redirecting instead of returning success. For instance, if I PUT a legal change to my user profile, the idiomatic response would be a 302 Redirect to the profile page. Isn't this wrong? Shouldn't we be returning 200 OK from the request? Or a 201 Created, in the case of a POST request? Either of those, in the HTTP/1.1 Status Definitions are allowed to (or required to) include a response, anyway. I guess I'm wondering, before I go and "fix" my application, whether there is there a darn good reason why the community has gone the way of redirects instead of successful responses.

  • Can I have Sinatra / Rack not read the entire request body into memory?

    Say I have a Sinatra route ala: put '/data' do request.body.read # ... end It appears that the entire request.body is read into memory. Is there a way to consume the body as it comes into the system, rather than having it all buffered in Rack/Sinatra beforehand? I see I can do this to read the body in parts, but the entire body still seems to be read into memory beforehand. put '/data' do while request.body.read(1024) != nil # ... end # ... end

  • Drupal pass argument to page

    I have a custom Drupal module displaying some data in a table. Each row has a link which if clicked will delete the relevant row. Specifically, when the link is clicked it will take the user to a confirmation page. This page is really just a drupal form which says 'are you sure' with two buttons: 'Yes', 'No'. I figure I will need to pass the rowID to the confirmation page. My question: What is the typically way to pass data to a new page in Drupal 7? I guess I could just add the rowID to the URL and use the $_GET[] from the confirmation page... I don't think this is very safe and was wondering if there was a better 'Drupal' way. Thanks!

Right now I have this repository: [a]---[b]---[d]---[f] master \ \ [c]---[e] develop I want to wind up here: [a]---[b]---[d]---[f]---[g] master \ / \ / [c]---[e]---/ develop where g is equivalent to performing commits [c] and [e] on [f]. This is git checkout master; git merge develop, right?

  • Setting up DNS for a server on the same server. (Ubuntu 9.04)

    Hi, recently I've purchased a VPS package which runs Ubuntu 9.04. I'm going to be using it as a general purpose server with a web server, git server, etc. Now, the package is fairly cheap, but in exchange in there's little to no auxiliary functionality, including an absence of nameservers. So, given that I have a domain name and full root access to the VPS, is it possible to configure a nameserver on the VPS for the VPS? That is, I want to link my domain name to my server without the need for an additional server. Thanks

    I was trying to install a module for opencv and added an opencv.pth file to the folder beyond my sites.py file. I have since deleted it and no change.   • C++ game loop example

    Can someone write up a source for a program that just has a "game loop", which just keeps looping until you press Esc, and the program shows a basic image. Heres the source I have right now but I have to use SDL_Delay(2000); to keep the program alive for 2 seconds, during which the program is frozen. #include "SDL.h" int main(int argc, char* args[]) { SDL_Surface* hello = NULL; SDL_Surface* screen = NULL; SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING); screen = SDL_SetVideoMode(640, 480, 32, SDL_SWSURFACE); hello = SDL_LoadBMP("hello.bmp"); SDL_BlitSurface(hello, NULL, screen, NULL); SDL_Flip(screen); SDL_Delay(2000); SDL_FreeSurface(hello); SDL_Quit(); return 0; } I just want the program to be open until I press Esc. I know how the loop works, I just don't know if I implement inside the main() function, or outside of it. I've tried both, and both times it failed. If you could help me out that would be great :P

  • Displaying a DHTML layer over a Silverlight UI...

    I have a MOSS 2007 publishing site which incorporates some Silverlight components on various pages. Beyond a few areas the rest of the site is SharePoint and ASPX (i.e. standard HTML/javascript). I'm looking at incorporating a dynamic/dropdown menu to the main navigation. Unfortunately on a few of the pages the menu sits close to a Silverlight area and, when a menu is pulled down it falls "behind" the Silverlight block. Is there something simple I'm not doing or is there a limitation that Silverlight always be on top of dynamic content displayed via the rest of the HTML DOM? Any ideas? -Kevin

    (If you can make a better title, please do) Hi, I need to make sure a string matches the following regex: ^[0-9a-zA-Z]{1}[0-9a-zA-Z\.\-_]*$ (Starts with a letter or number, then any number of letters, numbers, dots, dashes or underscores) But given that, I need to make sure it doesn't match a Guid, my Guid matching reg-ex looks like this (obviously, this needs to be negated in the merged result): ^([0-9a-fA-F]){8}-([0-9a-fA-F]){4}-([0-9a-fA-F]){4}-([0-9a-fA-F]){4}-([0-9a-fA-F]){12}$ The last requirement here is that they must (if it's possible) be merged into a single expression.

    Hi all! I generate *.hbm.xml mapping files and *.java file from the DB schema, with Hibernate tools. My question is, that is there any option, to generate service classes also? These are the classes where I implement the store(), find(), delete(), etc... methods. I know that for C# there are many solutions to generate almost everything.   • Object Oriented vs Relational Databases

    Objects oriented databases seem like a really cool idea to me, no need to worry about mapping your domain model to your database model, no messing around with sql or ORM tools. The way I understand it, relational DBs offer some advantages when there is massive amounts of data, and searching an indexing need to be done. To my mind 99% of websites are not massive, and enterprise issues never need to be thought about, so why arn't OO DBs more widely used?
