  • NSDateFormatter, am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

    I'm trying to print out the date in a certain format: NSDate *today = [[NSDate alloc] init]; NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyyMMddHHmmss"]; NSString *dateStr = [dateFormatter stringFromDate:today]; If the iPhone is set to 24 hour time, this works fine, if on the other hand the user has set it to 24 hour time, then back to AM/PM (it works fine until you toggle this setting) then it appends the AM/PM on the end even though I didn't ask for it: 20080927030337 PM Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug with firmware 2.1? Edit 1: Made description clearer Edit 2 workaround: It turns out this is a bug, to fix it I set the AM and PM characters to "": [dateFormatter setAMSymbol:@""]; [dateFormatter setPMSymbol:@""];

  • Problem with Tapestry palette's arrow icons in IE8

    I'm using Tapestry to create pages for a web app, and have been using the palette component to add/delete items to/from a group. The page looks great in Firefox (Tapestry seems biased towards Firefox), but my customers will all be using Internet Explorer (any versions from 6, 7, & 8) and in IE8, the disabled arrow buttons look awful. In Firefox, they are faded, using an opacity setting of 25%, but this doesn't work in IE8 and instead you get a faded image with an ugly black border around the image. In tapestry-core's stylesheet (default.css), you have the following for a disabled arrow button. DIV.t-palette-controls BUTTON[disabled] IMG { filter: alpha(opacity = 25); -moz-opacity: .25; } These are clearly out of date, as -moz-opacity is no longer supported by Firefox (use opacity: 25 instead). The problem is with filter: "alpha(opacity = 25);". If I remove this, the arrows look fine in IE8, but they are not faded. I got the magic instruction: -ms-filter:"progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=25)"; from various websites, but putting this in does not work either - the arrow icons are ugly again. The icon itself (distributed with Tapestry) just seems to be a regular PNG, but I'm not an expert on image formats, so maybe there's a problem there? Anyone else had this problem?

    I like to be able to fully test compatibility of my web pages on Mac OS X. I have installed Parallels desktop. It works fine, but it uses a lot a of resources... So I would like to be able to test everything inside OS X. In fact I am looking for Explorer 6 for the Mac. Any suggestions around?

  • Managing many objects at once.

    Hi, I want to find a way to efficiently keep track of a lot of objects at once. One practical example I can think of would be a particle system. How are hundreds of particles kept track of? I think I'm on the right track, I found the term 'instancing' and I also learned about flyweights. Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this and share some techniques with me. Thanks.

  • Self-modify the classpath within a Scala script?

    I'm trying to replace a bunch of Linux shell scripts with Scala scripts. One of the remaining challenges is how to scan an entire directory of JARs and place them into the classpath. Currently this is done in the shell script prior to invoking the scala JVM. I'd like to eliminate the shell script completely. Is there an elegant scala idiom for this?     Consider the following markup: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Test Page</title> <link href="screen.css" rel="stylesheet" /> </head> <body> <h1>Test</h1> <h3>Description</h3> </body> </html> And the CSS: h3{ margin-top: -25px; } Now, I want the H3 to have a margin-left of however long H1 is, and it is consistently 20px away. So, if I have a H1 block of 200px long, then H3 would have a margin-left of 220px, and so on and so forth. How would I do this?

  • javascript trying to get 3rd nested array.length and value

    How can i get the 3rd nested array (in this case the array starting with "yellow") the array looks like this: [ ["Large", ["yellow", "green", "Blue"], ["$55.00", "$55.00", "$55.00"] ["Medium", ["yellow", "green", "Blue", "Red"], ["$55.00", "$55.00", "$55.00", "$55.00"] ] ["small", ["yellow", "green", "Blue", "Red"], ["$55.00", "$55.00", "$55.00", "$55.00"] ] ] I am trying to get to the ["yellow", "green", "Blue"] array's length and loop to get the values for(i=0; colorNSize.dataArray[0][0][1].length<i; i++){ alert(colorNSize.dataArray[colorNSize.Sizeindex][0][0][i])// alert's nothing } It actually alerts the length of "Large" which is "5" is there a limit for nested arrays? Can this be done?

  • How to append query parameter at runtime using jQuery

    Through JavaScript I am appending one query parameter to the page url and I am facing one strange behaiviour. <div> <a href="Default3.aspx?id=2">Click me</a> </div> $(function () { window.location.href = window.location.href + "&q=" + "aa"; }); Now I am appending &q=aa in default3.aspx and in this page the &q=aa is getting added continuously, causing the URL to become: http://localhost:1112/WebSite2/Default3.aspx?id=2&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa&q=aa One would say just pass it like <a href="Default3.aspx?id=2&q=aa">Click me</a>, but I cant do that. The value of this query parameter is actually the value of an HTML element which is in default3.aspx. I have to add it in runtime. What are the ways to achieve this?

    Hi, I am writing a Core Data-based iPhone app and I am new to Objective-C. I have a bug that I am really struggling to nail. What happens when the return key is pressed is that an attribute on an entity is updated. I don't know what array is out of bounds as I am not using any arrays in my code!   • Good way to make animations with cocos2d?

    Hi there, I'm making a little iphone game, and I would get some clues. Let's imagine: Two background sprites moving pretty fast from right to left, and moving up and down with accelerometer. I guess I can't use animations here, cause the movement of the background is recalculated at each frame. So I use a schedule with an interval of 0.025s and move my sprites at each clock with a : sprite.position = ccp(x, y); So here is my problem: the result is laggy, with only these two sprites. I tried both declaring sprites in the header, and getting them with CCNodes and Tags. It's quite the same. So if someone can give me a hint on what is the best way to do that, that would be so nice. I wonder if the problem can't be the fact that sprites are moving very fast, but i'm not sure. Anyway, thanks for your time. J.

  • Setup Exchange 2007 ActiveSync web application on a separate server

    Hello, I have Exchange 2007 installed on SBS 2008. I also run a web server on the network. I only have one static IP and all traffic trough port 443 is routed to the webserver. I would like to publish the ActiveSync application externally. If i temporarily route 443 traffic to the SBS then it is published (along with owa and everything else which i don't want). Is there a way to host the ActiveSync application on the web server (Server 2008 with IIS7) or to get it to route traffic meant for the ActiveSync application? I have tried creating a site on the webserver which uses the ActiveSync folder on the SBS but that does not seem to work. Thanks, Michael

  • How do I view the location of an swf file that is obscured somehow.

    Specifically, I'm trying to view Elmo's Keyboard-o-rama fullscreen. The original swf file at www.sesameworkshop.org/uploaded-images/9495524/additional/main_game-6.swf has been moved and obscured. For a toddler, this game really needs to be full screen! The toddler doesn't mind too much and has already lost interest in the game for the day. But it's just driving me crazy. I've tried the usual method of viewing the page info in Firefox to no avail. And before people start trying to delete this for being game specific, I would like to know how to do this for any obfuscated swf location, not just games. Thanks in advance.

  • Songs/Movies are not being played

    Hi the problem i am facing is very odd. None of my songs (.mp3/.avi etc) are not able to run in any of the media players: Windows media player, Windows media center, VLC, DIV etc. What i have done before posting the question here. a. Check Device and Drivers and they are working OK and Updated even. b. Run Sample Audio (Downloaded from Internet) in Adobe Sound-booth and it worked. c. Plus i run a video in YouTube and i was able to hear it! d. I am able to hear windows Error Beeps too..!!! e. While running Movies i could see playing but not hear it What could be the problem? please help
