  • Android - Using PreferenceScreen to display and save settings to/from ContentProvider

    I have my own custom Content Provider that loads a datasbase which contains the settings information for my application. I load the settings from the ContentProvider on the creation of my Settings activity. My Settings activity is made up of a PreferenceScreen and Dialog based EditText's. The following code shows how I use the preference screen and edit texts. So as you can see from the first image this works and displays the menu with the information underneath. The problem is in image two, when I click on a choice in the menu the dialog pops up but it is empty, I would like to be able to load the data from my content provider into the edit text in the dialog, so in image one it shows "Donal" as the user name so in image two "Donal" should also appear in the edit text in the dialog. I would also like to be able to listen to the OK button in the dialog so when a user changes a setting I can update the data in my content provider. Can anyone help me with what I'm trying to do?   • Integer comparison as string

    Hi I have an integer column and I want to find numbers that start with specific digits. For example they do match if I look for '123': 1234567 123456 1234 They do not match: 23456 112345 0123445 Is the only way to handle the task by converting the Integers into Strings before doing string comparison? Also I am using Postgre regexp_replace(text, pattern, replacement) on numbers which is very slow and inefficient way doing it. The case is that I have large amount of data to handle this way and I am looking for the most economical way doing this.

  • Elegant and 'correct' multiton implementation in Objective C?

I have programmatically 'disallowed' use of alloc and allocWithZone: because the decision to allocate or not allocate memory needs to be done based on a key.   • using FUSLOGVW.EXE on a machine with no Visual Studio installed

    I'm currently having some assembly binding problems on our development server. I want to investigate the problem a bit further with Fusion Log Viewer. Since there is no Visual Studio installed on the machine, I copied FUSLOGVW.EXE to a local folder and started it there. Is this supposed to work or does it need something else? I don't get the impression the application is logging any failures (and yes I have the settings right).

    I have noticed that OpenSUSE informs me of patches for security holes and race conditions and things much more frequently than, say, Ubuntu. Now then, does this mean that: [A] OpenSUSE has more holes that need to be fixed in the first place or... [B] The OpenSUSE gang are more active at finding / squashing bugs. What do you think?

  • Repair .NET Framework on Windows 2008 R2

    One of our web servers has become inoperable and after some searching we think the .NET Framework might be corrupted in some way. The server runs Windows 2008 R2 and uses the 2.0 framework for the ASP.NET application that is (or better: was) running using IIS 7.5. I'm wondering how we can reinstall the .NET 2.0 Framework on Windows 2008 R2. Any ideas? Kind regards, Niels R.

  • Where to download n900 songbird client?

    Hi all, I am confused ... is Songbird releasing a client for the n900? This page has been up for a few months. I've been eagerly awaiting a download, but cannot find the link: http://getsongbird.com/gadgets/ Does anyone have any ideas here? The media player with the n900 works well, but it doesn't connect to last.fm. It isn't a deal breaker, but it would be a nice to have. Songbird seems to run better than Rhythmbox and offers a cleaner, more polished look. Thanks, Walter

    i have the function: const A& f(...) {...} a. const A a1 = f(..); b. const A &a2 = f(...); which of the is the better one to use? in both cases, if i understand correctly, i prevent the possibility of modifying the returned object. in the first option, the copy constructor of A will be called - am i correct?

  • Detecting Infinite recursion in Python or dynamic languages

    Recently I tried compiling program something like this with GCC: int f(int i){ if(i<0){ return 0;} return f(i-1); and it ran just fine. When I inspected the stack frames the compiler optimized the program to use only one frame, by just jumping back to the beginning of the function and only replacing the arguments to f. And - the compiler wasn't even running in optimized mode. Now, when I try the same thing in Python - I hit maximum recursion wall (or stack overflow). Is there way that a dynamic language like python can take advantage of these nice optimizations? Maybe it's possible to use a compiler instead of an interpreter to make this work? Just curious!

  • MS Build Script accepting a list or collection of project names to build and deploy

    I want to create a MS Build script (executed by way of TFS Build Server) that will accept a list of project names that need to be built, unit tested and deployed. The reason is that I want one script to serve many 'like' structured solutions. All the solutions are SOA in nature and share the same framework, project structure and deployment requirements. I've done this in Nant and acheived great success out of having one build file serving 4 solutions - it just accepted a list of web project names to compile and deploy to our test/uat environments. What is the syntax to cycle through a collection of project names suppled as params via MS Build?

  • .NET AxWebBrowser can't open page "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" error

    Oh, I am stuck again on this quiet annoying problem. I am trying to do a little automated browsing using the axWebBrowser component and it worked before. Now all of a sudden I get the following message when I try to browse to a page. Navigation to the webpage was canceled What you can try: Refresh the page. I totally disabled my firewall, ran VS2008 in Administrator mode, I even installed IE8 all to no avail. By the way IE8 doesn't work either. I don't know if the problem is related but all I get when I put a URL into IE8 is this message. Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage I don't so much mind that, I just really need to get my visual studio axWebBrowser working.
