• makefile compilation problem

    - by mistique
    He I have a problem with a makefile. I have three classes. They do pretty simple stuff. One does an addition on a subtraction, and the last one will instantiate the two and simply print the resulted addition and subtraction. Now when I create my makefile, I compile my Plus.java and my Minus.java but don't know how to compile the main class because it depends on the previous two. I want to compile and run it from the makefile if it's possible. I get the above results when I try to run make: javac -g Plus.class Minus.class javac: invalid flag: Plus.class Usage: javac use -help for a list of possible options make: * [Operation.class] Error 2 I don't know how to procede, please forgive me if my question is to simple but I am new working with these stuff. I've searched many sites but with no answer.

  • Generalizing Fibonacci sequeue with SICStus Prolog

    - by Christophe Herreman
    I'm trying to find a solution for a query on a generalized Fibonacci sequence (GFS). The query is: are there any GFS that have 885 as their 12th number? The initial 2 numbers may be restricted between 1 and 10. I already found the solution to find the Nth number in a sequence that starts at (1, 1) in which I explicitly define the initial numbers. Here is what I have for this: fib(1, 1). fib(2, 1). fib(N, X) :- N #> 1, Nmin1 #= N - 1, Nmin2 #= N - 2, fib(Nmin1, Xmin1), fib(Nmin2, Xmin2), X #= Xmin1 + Xmin2. For the query mentioned I thought the following would do the trick, in which I reuse the fib method without defining the initial numbers explicitly since this now needs to be done dynamically: fib2 :- X1 in 1..10, X2 in 1..10, fib(1, X1), fib(2, X2), fib(12, 885). ... but this does not seem to work. Is it not possible this way to define the initial numbers, or am I doing something terribly wrong? I'm not asking for the solution, but any advice that could help me solve this would be greatly appreciated.

  • jquery custom drag and drop

    - by samlochner
    I am trying to create functionality similar to drag and drop. I need to create my own as there will be some significant differences to the drag and drop in the jquery UI. I would like to have mousemove being called repeatedly at all times, and mousedown called every time the mouse is pressed. So I have the following code: $(document).bind('mousemove',function(e){ $("#coords").text("e.pageX: " + e.pageX + ", e.pageY: " + e.pageY); }); $(document).bind('mousedown',function(e){ }); ('coords' is the id of a div) As I move the mouse, coordinates are reported correctly in 'coords'. If I depress a mouse button and then move the mouse, coordinates are still reported correctly. But if I depress a mouse button on an image and then move the mouse, coordinates are reported correctly for a few sets, and then they seize up! Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Thanks, Sam

  • Free US sales-tax lookup (per zip etc.)?

    - by Shimmy
    I am creating a pricing program. I need to calculate the amounts according to the current tax list in the US (in various places). I want to have a button 'Update taxes' in the administrative settings of the application, so when the user clicks it, it should download from somewhere the active tax amounts. So I actually want to have a function decimal GetTax(string zip). Does anyone knows about a free downloadable xml, or RSS accessible or even a website that I can crawle in and get this info from?

  • Will GTK's pango and cairo work well in Cocoa and MFC applications.

    - by Lothar
    I'm writing a GUI program and decided to go native on all platforms. But for all the stuff i need to draw myself i would like to use the same drawing routines because font and unicode handling is so difficult and complex. Do you see any negative points in useing Pango/Cairo. Well on MacOSX i havent succeded installing Pango/Cairo yet. Looks like a bad Omen. I would also like to hear about the performance penality. The first time i looked at Pango i thought, yes thats the reason why Software is still getting despite better hardware.

  • Role provider and Role management

    - by AspOnMyNet
    When the CacheRolesInCookie property is set to true in the Web.config file, role information for each user is stored in a cookie. When role management checks to see whether a user is in a particular role, the roles cookie is checked before the role provider is called to check the list of roles at the data source. The cookie is dynamically updated to cache the most recently validated role names. a) As far as I understand the above text, even though role management checks the roles cookie, role provider still checks the list of roles at the data source? b) Above text talks about role management, which is invoked before role provider is called. What class acts as a role management? thanx

  • Processing file uploads before object is saved

    - by Dominic Rodger
    I've got a model like this: class Talk(BaseModel): title = models.CharField(max_length=200) mp3 = models.FileField(upload_to = u'talks/', max_length=200) seconds = models.IntegerField(blank = True, null = True) I want to validate before saving that the uploaded file is an MP3, like this: def is_mp3(path_to_file): from mutagen.mp3 import MP3 audio = MP3(path_to_file) return not audio.info.sketchy Once I'm sure I've got an MP3, I want to save the length of the talk in the seconds attribute, like this: audio = MP3(path_to_file) self.seconds = audio.info.length The problem is, before saving, the uploaded file doesn't have a path (see this ticket, closed as wontfix), so I can't process the MP3. I'd like to raise a nice validation error so that ModelForms can display a helpful error ("You idiot, you didn't upload an MP3" or something). Any idea how I can go about accessing the file before it's saved? p.s. If anyone knows a better way of validating files are MP3s I'm all ears - I also want to be able to mess around with ID3 data (set the artist, album, title and probably album art, so I need it to be processable by mutagen).

  • Caching roles in a cookie

    - by AspOnMyNet
    1) a) I assume roles are cached ( by setting Roles.CacheRolesInCookie ) only for current user? b) Besides Roles.GetRolesForUser(_currentUser), are there any other methods that will read role information for current user from role cookie and thus won’t have to connect to the data base? 2) a) I assume that normally role cookie gets updated only when current user is added or removed from the role(s) or when the cookie expires? b) Because role names can be cached apart from the data source, it is possible that changes to role management at the data source would not be reflected in the cached values. In this case, the user must close and re-open their browser to clear the cached cookie value. How exactly could role cookie get cached apart from the data source? 3) If the number of roles cached in a role cookie equals the value of Roles.MaxCachedResults, then I assume when Roles.GetRolesForUser (_currentuser) gets called, it will need to check the DB to see whether user is also a member of any additional roles? thanx

  • Named semaphores in Python?

    - by Boaz
    Hi, I have a script in python which uses a resource which can not be used by more than a certain amount of concurrent scripts running. Classically, this would be solved by a named semaphores but I can not find those in the documentation of the multiprocessing module or threading . Am I missing something or are named semaphores not implemented / exposed by Python? and more importantly, if the answer is no, what is the best way to emulate one? Thanks, Boaz PS. For reasons which are not so relevant to this question, I can not aggregate the task to a continuously running process/daemon or work with spawned processed - both of which, it seems, would have worked with the python API.

  • YUI Calendar: how does it load the Sam's Skin CSS?

    - by dound
    I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. How does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css). Strangely, I don't see it being downloaded nor do I see it in the JS files themselves. I must be overlooking it. This is how I'm loading the CSS and JS now:
...
...
... // YUI().use('yui2-calendar', function(Y) { var YAHOO = Y.YUI2; var cal = new YAHOO.widget.Calendar("cal",{navigator:true,mindate:'1/1/2000'); cal.render(); // ... Edit: I want to make a few minor changes to the default sam skin. What is the best way to do that? I answered this part of my question. If I wrap the calendar in an extra div, then specifying CSS rules which include that div as part of the selector makes the rule more specific so the browser uses it over Sam's skin. Rough example: ...

  • Python recursive program

    - by mathboy
    I'm relatively newcomer on programming as I'm educated a mathematician and have no experience on Python. I would like to know how to solve this problem in Python which appeared as I was studying one maths problem on my own: Program asks a positive integer m. If m is of the form 2^n-1 it returns T(m)=n*2^{n-1}. Otherwise it writes m to the form 2^n+x, where -1 < x < 2^n, and returns T(m)=T(2^n-1)+x+1+T(x). Finally it outputs the answer.

  • ForEach with EditorFor

    - by hermiod
    I have got an Entity model which contains a collection of Message objects which are of the type Message which has several properties, including content, MessageID, from, and to. I have created an EditorTemplate for type Message, however, I cannot get it to display the contents of the Messages collection. There are no errors, but nothing is output. Please note that the view code is from an EditorTemplate for the parent Talkback class. Can you have an EditorTemplate calling another EditorTemplate for a child collection? Both the Talkback and Message class are generated by Entity framework from an existing database. View code: <% foreach (TalkbackEntityTest.Message msg in Model.Messages) { Html.EditorFor(x=> msg, "Message"); } %> This is my template code. It is the standard auto-generated view code with some minor changes. <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<TalkbackEntityTest.Message>" %> <%: Html.ValidationSummary(true) %> <fieldset> <legend>Fields</legend>
<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.MessageID) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.MessageID) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MessageID) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.acad_period) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.acad_period) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.acad_period) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.talkback_id) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.talkback_id) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.talkback_id) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.From) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.From) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.From) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.To) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.To) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.To) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.SentDatetime) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.SentDatetime, String.Format("{0:g}", Model.SentDatetime)) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SentDatetime) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.content) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.content) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.content) %>

<%: Html.LabelFor(model => model.MessageTypeID) %>

<%: Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.MessageTypeID) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MessageTypeID) %>

</fieldset> There is definitely content in the Message collection as, if I remove EditorFor and put in response.write on the content property of the Message class, I get the content field for 3 Message objects on the page, which is exactly as expected.

  • Blackberry ListField Text Wrapping - only two lines.

    - by Diego Tori
    Within my ListField, I want to be able to take any given long String, and just be able to wrap the first line within the width of the screen, and just take the remaining string and display it below and ellipsis the rest. Right now, this is what I'm using to detect wrapping within my draw paint call: int totalWidth = 0; int charWidth = 0; int lastIndex = 0; int spaceIndex = 0; int lineIndex = 0; String firstLine = ""; String secondLine = ""; boolean isSecondLine = false; for (int i = 0; i < longString.length(); i++){ charWidth = Font.getDefault().getAdvance(String.valueOf(longString.charAt(i))); //System.out.println("char width: " + charWidth); if(longString.charAt(i) == ' ') spaceIndex = i; if((charWidth + totalWidth) > (this.getWidth()-32)){ //g.drawText(longString.substring(lastIndex, spaceIndex), xpos, y +_padding, DrawStyle.LEFT, w - xpos); lineIndex++; System.out.println("current lines to draw: " + lineIndex); /*if (lineIndex = 2){ int idx = i; System.out.println("first line " + longString.substring(lastIndex, spaceIndex)); System.out.println("second line " + longString.substring(spaceIndex+1, longString.length())); }*/ //firstLine = longString.substring(lastIndex, spaceIndex); firstLine = longString.substring(0, spaceIndex); //System.out.println("first new line: " +firstLine); //isSecondLine=true; //xpos = 0; //y += Font.getDefault().getHeight(); i = spaceIndex + 1; lastIndex = i; System.out.println("Rest of string: " + longString.substring(lastIndex, longString.length())); charWidth = 0; totalWidth = 0; } totalWidth += charWidth; System.out.println("total width: " + totalWidth); //g.drawText(longString.substring(lastIndex, i+1), xpos, y + (_padding*3)+4, DrawStyle.ELLIPSIS, w - xpos); //secondLine = longString.substring(lastIndex, i+1); secondLine = longString.substring(lastIndex, longString.length()); //isSecondLine = true; } Now this does a great job of actually wrapping any given string (assuming the y values were properly offsetted and it only drew the text after the string width exceeded the screen width, as well as the remaining string afterwards), however, every time I try to get the first two lines, it always ends up returning the last two lines of the string if it goes beyond two lines. Is there a better way to do this sort of thing, since I am fresh out of ideas?
