  • Merging two Regular Expressions to Truncate Words in Strings

(49 + 3 chars) echo dyd_Text_Truncate('Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn and then the quick brown fox jumped overly the lazy dog and one day the lazy dog humped the poor fox down until she died.', 50, '...'); // Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn_and_then_the_quick_brown_fox_... (50 + 3 chars) echo dyd_Text_Truncate('Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn_and_then_the_quick_brown_fox_jumped_overly_the_lazy_dog and one day the lazy dog humped the poor fox down until she died.', 50, '...'); They both work as it is, however if I drop the second preg_replace() I get the following: Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn_and_then_the_quick_brown_fox_jumped_overly_the_lazy_dog and one day the lazy dog humped the poor fox down until she died.... I can't use substr() because it only works on byte level and I don't have access to mb_substr() ATM, I've made several attempts to join the second regex with the first one but without success. Please help S.M.S., I've been struggling with this for almost an hour. EDIT: I'm sorry, I've been awake for 40 hours and I shamelessly missed this: $string = preg_replace('~^(.{1,' . intval($limit) . '})(?:\s.*|$)?~su', '$1', $string); Still, if someone has a more optimized regex (or one that ignores the trailing space) please share: "Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn and then " "Iñtërnâtiônàlizætiøn_and_then_" EDIT 2: I still can't get rid of the trailing whitespace, can someone help me out?

  • App.config in Window service

    I am in the process of designing a Windows Service, Where i have App.config. When the service is running i am not able to change the config values. But those values are not getting reflected. when it reades next time. Is it manadatory to restart service eveyr time we change config values? Do you have any suggestion how we can do this with out implementing some kind of file watch ?

    Guys, Currently in my comp., there are some changes going on regarding project documentation. There is a LOT of time and effort spent on discussing functional specs vs. requirements doc. However, I don't think anyone here understands the reason why you would use one over the other. Therefore, I don't understand the difference myself. Can someone shed some light on this matter plz?   • Get query from java.sql.PreparedStatement

    In my code I am using java.sql.PreparedStatement. I then execute the setString() method to populate the wildcards of the prepared statement. Is there a way for me to retrieve (and print out) the final query before the executeQuery() method is called and the query is executed? I Just want this for debugging purposes. Thanks.

    I'm looking for a simple way to discern if a string contains any part of another string (be that regex, built in function I don't know about, etc...). For Example: string a = "unicorn"; string b = "cornholio"; string c = "ornament"; string d = "elephant"; if (a <comparison> b) { // match found ("corn" from 'unicorn' matched "corn" from 'cornholio') } if (a <comparison> c) { // match found ("orn" from 'unicorn' matched "orn" from 'ornament') } if (a <comparison> d) { // this will not match } something like if (a.ContainsAnyPartOf(b)) would be too much to hope for. Also, I only have access to .NET 2.0. Thanks in advance!

  • WPF TreeView databinding to hide/show expand/collapse icon

    I implemented a WPF load-on-demand treeview like described in this (very good) article. In the mentioned solution a dummy element is used to preserve the expand + icon / treeview item behavior. The dummy item is replaced with real data, when the user clicks on the expander. I want to refine the model by adding a property public bool HasChildren { get { ... } } to my backing TreeNodeViewModel. Question: How can I bind this property to hide/show the expand icon (in XAML)? I am not able to find a suitable trigger/setter combination. (INotifyPropertyChanged is properly implemented.) Thanks for your time. Update 1: I want to use my property public bool HasChildren instead of using the dummy element. Determining whether or not an item has children is somewhat costly, but still much cheaper than fetching the children.

  • What is the performance impact of tracing in C# and ASP.NET?

    I found this in some production login code I was looking at recently... HttpContext.Current.Trace.Write(query + ": " + username + ", " + password)); ...where query is a short SQL query to grab matching users. Does this have any sort of performance impact? I assume its very small. Also, what is the purpose of this exact type of trace, using the HTTP Context? Where does this data get traced to? Thanks in advance!

  • View Window Not Opening in Interface Builder

    When I double click the XIB file in Xcode, Interface Builder typically launches a few different windows, one of which is the View window. For some reason, however, the View window isn't opening for one of my XIB files. If I open any of the other XIB files, however, the View window does open. I'm not sure if there's a way to manually launch the View window (I looked through all of the menu items and couldn't find a way) or if I broke something in my XIB. Update: I created a connection from the app delegate to a navigation controller, which seemed to break something. When I cleared that connection, the View window came back.

  • PyOpenGL: glVertexPointer() offset problem

    My vertices are interleaved in a numpy array (dtype = float32) like this: ... tu, tv, nx, ny, nz, vx, vy, vz, ... When rendering, I'm calling gl*Pointer() like this (I have enabled the arrays before): stride = (2 + 3 + 3) * 4 glTexCoordPointer( 2, GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray ) glNormalPointer( GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray + 2 ) glVertexPointer( 3, GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray + 5 ) glDrawElements( GL_TRIANGLES, len( self.indices ), GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, self.indices ) The result is that nothing renders. However, if I organize my array so that the vertex position is the first element ( ... vx, vy, vz, tu, tv, nx, ny, nz, ... ) I get correct positions for vertices while rendering but texture coords and normals aren't rendered correctly. This leads me to believe that I'm not setting the pointer offset right. How should I set it? I'm using almost the exact same code in my other app in C++ and it works.

  • Display "custom" view (various images, various text). Should I use UIWebView?

    First: No, none of the content should be loaded from the web. All content parts are shipped with the main bundle. I have n images and mass of text (including lists). Instead of building all view parts programmatically in objective-c if was thinking of using an UIWebView and build "only" the HTML dynamically. Does anything speaks against it? How does UIWebView work with local content? Links and resources welcome. Thanks

    I'm trying to create a page that allows a user to change the "look and feel" of the site. I would like to use something similar to jQuery's ThemeRoller or FireFox's Developer Tool. I can't force the user to use Firefox and I don't need all the options that the ThemeRoller has. I'm really only looking for header, background, font size and font type. Any suggestions? Thanks
