    Hi all, How do I convert a string to a date object in python? The string would be: "24052010" (corresponding to the format: "%d%m%Y") I DON'T want a datetime object.   • Adding custom methods to a subclassed NSManagedObject

    I have a Core Data model where I have an entity A, which is an abstract. Entities B, C, and D inherit from entity A. There are several properties defined in entity A which are used by B, C, and D. I would like to leverage this inheritance in my model code. In addition to properties, I am wondering if I can add methods to entity A, which are implemented in it's sub-entities. For example: I add a method to the interface for entity A which returns a value and takes one argument I add implementations of this method to A, B, C, D Then, I call executeFetchRequest: to retrieve all instances of B I call the method on the objects retrieved, which should call the implementation of the method contained in B's implementation I have tried this, but when calling the method, I receive: [NSManagedObject methodName:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance I presume this is because the objects returned by executeFetchRequest: are proxy objects of some sort. Is there any way to leverage inheritance using subclassed NSManagedObjects? I would really like to be able to do this, otherwise my model code would be responsible for determining what type of NSManagedObject it's dealing with and perform special logic according to the type, which is undesirable. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hello, When a user enters his login information and hits submit, i want to check if the user already exists or not. So, i have the following two questions 1. Which hook is needed to be implemented , for the case when user hits the submit button on the login form. I need the username entered by the user. 2. How to check if a user already exists in drupal or not programmatically ? Some sample code would be really appreciated. Please help. Thank You.

  • Change connection on the fly

    Hello, I have a SQL server with 50 databases. Each one has the exact same schema. I used the awesome Subsonic 2.2 create the DAL based on one of them. I need to loop though a list of database names and connect to each one and perform an update one at a time. If there a way to alter how subsonic uses the connection string. I believe I would need to store the connection string in memory that way it can keep changing. Is this possible? I tried doing a ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["theConnStrName"].ConnectionString = updated-connection-string-here; .. but that did not work thanks!

    Hey guys quick question, I have an add remove script that will add a unique element and should remove it on a click function but does not. I think it is because the added object is not in the DOM when page is loaded but I am not sure how to fix this.   • How do I build a specialized JQuery Timer

    I have an asp.net page where two grid views are available showing current stock market price updates. I need to update these two grid views every 20 seconds. So I was thinking of using JQuery to do this job. What I need is a timer which will fire every 20 seconds, send an ajax request to the servers, bring the order lists from the server using json and then update those two grid views. If a request to the server is still being served 20 seconds after it is fired, then I want the old one to be aborted without causing any trouble. I already know how to bring objects using json. I just need to figure out how to send a request every 20 seconds and cancel a request if it is still being server for 20 seconds.

  • Setting foreground color for HSSFCellStyle is always coming out black

    I am using POI to create an Excel spreadsheet in Java. I have the following code used for creating a header row: HSSFWorkbook wb = new HSSFWorkbook(); HSSFSheet sheet = wb.createSheet("Report"); // some more code HSSFRow row = sheet.createRow(0); HSSFCell cell = row.createCell(cellNumber); HSSFCellStyle cellStyle = wb.createCellStyle(); cellStyle.setFillBackgroundColor(HSSFColor.GREY_25_PERCENT.index); cellStyle.setFillPattern(HSSFCellStyle.SOLID_FOREGROUND); HSSFFont font = wb.createFont(); font.setBoldweight(HSSFFont.BOLDWEIGHT_BOLD); font.setColor(HSSFColor.WHITE.index); cellStyle.setFont(font); cell.setCellStyle(cellStyle); The issue I am having is that setting the fill background color on the cell always comes out black, no matter what color I pick. What am I doing wrong? If I don't use the "setFillPattern" line, no color shows up at all.

    I've came into a problem while working with AR and polymorphic, here's the description, class Base < ActiveRecord::Base; end class Subscription < Base set_table_name :subscriptions has_many :posts, :as => :subscriptable end class Post < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :subscriptable, :polymorphic => true end in the console, >> s = Subscription.create(:name => 'test') >> s.posts.create(:name => 'foo', :body => 'bar') and it created a Post like: #<Post id: 1, name: "foo", body: "bar", subscriptable_type: "Base", subscriptable_id: 1, created_at: "2010-05-10 12:30:10", updated_at: "2010-05-10 12:30:10"> the subscriptable_type is Base but Subscription, anybody can give me a hand on this?

While it seems pretty easy to find motivated developpers to join for free an open-source project, it seems quite hard to find a single free graphic designer. What free and good resources do you usually use for your programs/websites ? Do you have any cool tip that you're willing to share ? Do you know any place where to find people involved into graphic design willing to participate to open-source projects ?

  • Endianness and C API's: Specifically OpenSSL.

    I have an algorithm that uses the following OpenSSL calls: HMAC_update() / HMAC_final() // ripe160 EVP_CipherUpdate() / EVP_CipherFinal() // cbc_blowfish These algorithm take a unsigned char * into the "plain text". My input data is comes from a C++ std::string::c_str() which originate from a protocol buffer object as a encoded UTF-8 string. UTF-8 strings are meant to be endian neutrial. However I'm a bit paranoid about how OpenSSL may perform operations on the data. My understanding is that encryption algorithms work on 8-bit blocks of data, and if a unsigned char * is used for pointer arithmetic when the operations are performed the algorithms should be endian neutral and I do not need to worry about anything. My uncertainty is compounded by the fact that I am working on a little-endian machine and have never done any real cross-architecture programming. My beliefs/reasoning are/is based on the following two properties std::string (not wstring) internally uses a 8-bit ptr and a the resulting c_str() ptr will itterate the same way regardless of the CPU architecture. Encryption algorithms are either by design, or by implementation, endian neutral. I know the best way to get a definitive answer is to use QEMU and do some cross-platform unit tests (which I plan to do). My question is a request for comments on my reasoning, and perhaps will assist other programmers when faced with similar problems.

In this function, i need the username entered by the user. I think i cannot use the login op of hook_user because its called only when the user has successfully logged in.   • How do you measure latency in low-latency environments?

    Here's the setup... Your system is receiving a stream of data that contains discrete messages (usually between 32-128 bytes per message). As part of your processing pipeline, each message passes through two physically separate applications which exchange the data using a low-latency approach (such as messaging over UDP) or RDMA and finally to a client via the same mechanism. Assuming you can inject yourself at any level, including wire protocol analysis, what tools and/or techniques would you use to measure the latency of your system. As part of this, I'm assuming that every message that is delivered to the system results in a corresponding (though not equivalent) message being pushed through the system and delivered to the client. The only tool that I've seen on the market like this is TS-Associates TipOff. I'm sure that with the right access you could probably measure the same information using a wire analysis tool (ala wireshark) and the right dissectors, but is this the right approach or are there any commodity solutions that I can use?

  • Simple startup on boot of misc application (Java based) on Ubuntu Linux 8+ as a daemon

    What is the easiest way to have an application launch at startup on Ubuntu server as daemon? This is a java application (java com.run.run.Run) etc. How would I have it launch as a user and possibly have access to write to some log file where the user has permissions to write? And if I don't end up doing that, how would I launch the application as the root user at startup. Edited: It is a headless server, I don't have access to the desktop applications.
