  I'm working on a simple app that requires me to submit a form. I created two models. user.rb class User < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :email has_many :item end item.rb class Item < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :user_id belongs_to :user end Instead of creating a user using the user form view, I'm trying to create the user using the item form view. items/_form.html.haml = nested_form_for @item do |form| = form.fields_for :user do |builder| = builder.text_field :email = form.submit "Save" Did I miss something here? I'm using nested_form_for btw. Thank you.

Is there a way I could create a generic way of doing this?

• ViewPager cycle between views?

  I want my ViewPager implementation to cycle between views instead of stopping at the last view. For example, if I have 3 views to display via a ViewPager, it should return back to the first View after the third View on fling instead of stopping at that third view. • Resizing image algorithm in python

  So, I'm learning my self python by this tutorial and I'm stuck with exercise number 13 which says: Write a function to uniformly shrink or enlarge an image. Your function should take an image along with a scaling factor. To shrink the image the scale factor should be between 0 and 1 to enlarge the image the scaling factor should be greater than 1. This is not meant as a question about PIL, but to ask which algorithm to use so I can code it myself. I've found some similar questions like this, but I dunno how to translate this into python. Any help would be appreciated. • Implementation of Nib project to Storyboard, Xcode

  I have made a tabbed bar application in storyboard in xcode. I,m new to xcode. I got a Sample TableView XIB project from apple that I edited to my needs,The project has a UITableView that I Customized with Images, And with help of a certain forum member I was able to link up each image to a New View Controller. I tried to port or integrate My Nib Project Code to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application.I thought I had everything right had to comment out a few things to get no errors, But the project only goes to a Blank Table View.   I have a problem with applying aspects to my maven project. Probably I am missing something, so I've made a list of steps. Could you please check if it is correct? Let say in projectA is an aspect class and in projectB classes, which should be changed by aspects. • How do we achieve "substring-match" under O(n) time?

  I have an assignment that requires reading a huge file of random inputs, for example: Adana Izmir Adnan Menderes Apt Addis Ababa Aden ADIYAMAN ALDAN Amman Marka Intl Airport Adak Island Adelaide Airport ANURADHAPURA Kodiak Apt DALLAS/ADDISON Ardabil ANDREWS AFB etc.. If I specify a search term, the program is supposed to find the lines whereby a substring occurs. For example, if the search term is "uradha", the program is supposed to show ANURADHAPURA. If the search term is "airport", the program is supposed to show Amman Marka Intl Airport, Adelaide Airport A quote from the assignment specs: "You are to program this application taking efficiency into account as though large amounts of data and processing is involved.." I could easily achieve this functionality using a loop but the performance would be O(n). I was thinking of using a trie but it seems to only work if the substring starts from index 0. I was wondering what solutions are there which gives a performance better than O(n)?

• What's the deal with Java's public fields?

  I've been reading two articles (1)(2) on javaworld.com about how all class fields should be private and getter/setter methods are just as bad. An object should act on the data it has rather than allowing access to it. I'm currently working on a University assignment for Connect Four. In designing the program the Agents playing the Game need access to the Board's state (so they can decide what to move). They also need to pass this move to the Game so it can validate it as a legal move. And during deciding what to move pieces are grouped into Threats with a start and end Points. Board, Threat and Point objects don't really do anything. They are just there to store related data that can be accessed in a human readable way. At the start of design I was representing Points on the board as two element int arrays, however that got annoying when creating points or referencing components of them. So, the class: public class Point { public int x; public int y; public Point(int x, int y){ this.x = x; this.y = y; } } Perfect in every way I can think of. Except it breaks every rule I've learned. Have I sinned?

Barr is an American actress, comedienne, writer, television producer, and director.  Barr began her career in stand-up comedy at clubs before gaining fame for her role in the sitcom Roseanne. The show was a hit and lasted nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. She won both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on the show. Barr had crafted a "fierce working-class domestic goddess" persona in the eight years preceding her sitcom and wanted to do a realistic show about a strong mother who was not a victim of patriarchal consumerism. The granddaughter of immigrants from Europe and Russia, Barr was the oldest of four children in a working-class Jewish Salt Lake City family; she was also active in the LDS Church. In 1974 she married Bill Pentland, with whom she had three children, before divorcing in 1990 and marrying comedian Tom Arnold for four years. Controversy arose when she sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" off-key at a 1990 nationally aired baseball game, followed by grabbing her crotch and spitting. After her sitcom ended, she launched her own talk show, The Roseanne Show, which aired from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, she returned to stand-up comedy with a world tour. • Server downtime - are these APC warnings the cause?

  Yesterday I had a problem with my dedicated server (Ubuntu 10.04, LAMP). It wasn't down per se, but running incredibly slowly as if we had a massive overload of visitors (though I don't think we did). It's running smoothly again now. I've been checking through log files etc to see if I can find any issues, the only strange thing is a bunch of these errors, occurring at about the same time as the downtime: [apc-warning] Unable to allocate memory for pool. in [file] on line 49. And a bit later on: [apc-warning] GC cache entry '[file1]' (dev=2056 ino=8988092) was on gc-list for 3601 seconds in [file2] on line 746. Could these errors indicate the cause of the server slowdown, or are they simply a result of the server being slow in the first place? What would be the solution?

• 4TB HGST SATA drive only shows 1.62 TB in Windows Server 2012

  I'm using a Supermicro X9SRE-3F motherboard with the latest BIOS and 2x 4TB drives connected to the on-board SATA controller. If I set the BIOS to RAID and create a RAID 1 array, the array shows up in the BIOS as 3.6TB. However when I boot Windows (on a separate RAID 1 array), the 4TB drives show up individually in disk manager as 2x 1.62TB drives. I could use Windows 2012 to set up software RAID 1, but when I set the BIOS back to 2x individual drives, they still show up in Windows as 2x 1.62TB drives. • X11 Forwarding works on Windows with Xming and Putty, but not with ssh command line

  I have a micro Amazon instance the I want to use for testing and everything is going fine until the title. If I set up all the info in PuTTy, open it up and run 'xclock', all runs perfectly and it opens on Xming on my local desktop. If, however, I run ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com xclock I get Error: Can't open display: If I run either of ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com -X DISPLAY=localhost:0:0 xclock ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com -Y DISPLAY=localhost:0:0 xclock I get the same again, but just after about a 30 second delay. In .ssh/config in Windows, I do have ForwardX11 yes set, and I really can't think of anything more to get this working. The fact that PuTTy is working perfectly, not no matter what I do on the command line, I get absolutely no joy is driving me crazy. Can I even see the commands PuTTy is running somewhere, to see if it's doing some extra magic? The ssh I'm running in Windows is MinGW32's.

• Is it safe to use up all memory on linux server, not leaving anything for the cache?

  I have a CentOS server fully dedicated to MySQL 5.5 (with innodb tables mostly). Server has 32 GB RAM, SSD disks, and avarage memory usage looks like this: So about 25GB is in use and about 6.5GB is cached. I am experiencing performance problems with WRITE queries, so I was thinking, is this the optimal cache size? I might increase innodb buffer size, so that linux cache would become smaller, or decrease it, so it would be bigger. What is the optimal used/cached memory balance for busy MySQL server on linux?

This works well and my website is available at both variations but I really want all 'www' to route to the 'non www'. What is the reccomened method, using AWS Route 53, for routing all traffic that comes to... www.example.com to example.com

• XP Clients can't copy to networkshare

  i have a windows 2003 domain where i have strange problem. One of our file shares is on a 2003r2 domain controller, xp clients trying to copy files on the share are always getting the error error copying file or folder filename could not be copied. path too long while windows 7 clients work fine. Nothing unusal is found in the eventlog on both the server and the client. It doesn't matter if i access the share by fqdn or ip, the path is including filename shorter than 20 characters i.e. \path\share\file.txt Copying files to other servers is fine. Reading from the shares is ok too. Happened from one day to the other, one windows update that was installed this day (kb2736233) was removed but nothing changed. thanks for any tips

• Setup VLAN agnostic ports on HP ProCurve 1810G (Ingress Filter, Trunking)

  I am wondering if it is possible to configure some ports of the web managed ProCurve Switch 1810G to participate in all VLAN traffic. Even if no VLAN with that ID has been set up inside the switch. The issue is that I have two virtualization servers that will use yet unknown VLANs of a certain range to communicate with each other. But the range is much larger than the 64 supported VLANs this switch can manage. The switch also offers static and LACP Link Trunks. But I guess there will also apply the Ingress Filter that drops packets with unconfigured VLAN IDs? A separate unmanaged switch that connects the two hosts and one ProCurve Port would work, but maybe I do not have to? Thanks

  I'm trying to set up my sendmail to authenticate against a relay (comcast). I'm not seeing any attempts to authenticate at all. I'm trying to just debug how authentication works, and can't connect all the pieces... There are two things I don't understand. When AuthInfo records are searched for, they are matched by the target hostname. How? Does it it use the map key (something I would expect), or uses the so-called "Domain" ("R:" parameter that I don't set in my auth-info line) What is "U:", really? Sendmail README (http://www.sendmail.org/m4/smtp_auth.html) says it's "user(authoraztion id)", and "I:" is "authentication ID". That suggests that my username should be in "U:", actually, but http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/auth.html says that "I:" is your remote user name.
