  • C# Combining lines

    Hey everybody, this is what I have going on. I have two text files. Umm lets call one A.txt and B.txt. A.txt is a config file that contains a bunch of folder names, only 1 listing per folder. B.txt is a directory listing that contains folders names and sizes. But B contains a bunch of listing not just 1 entry. What I need is if B, contains A. Take all lines in B that contain A and write it out as A|B|B|B ect.... So example: A.txt: Apple Orange Pear XBSj HEROE B.txt: Apple|3123123 Apple|3434 Orange|99999999 Orange|1234544 Pear|11 Pear|12 XBSJ|43949 XBSJ|43933 Result.txt: Apple|3123123|3434 Orange|99999999|1234544 Pear|11|12 XBSJ|43949|43933 This is what I had but it's not really doing what I needed. string[] combineconfig = File.ReadAllLines(@"C:\a.txt"); foreach (string ccline in combineconfig) { string[] readlines = File.ReadAllLines(@"C:\b.txt"); if (readlines.Contains(ccline)) { foreach (string rdlines in readlines) { string[] pslines = rdlines.Split('|'); File.AppendAllText(@"C:\result.txt", ccline + '|' + pslines[0]); } } I know realize it's not going to find the first "if" because it reads the entire line and cant find it.   • How to select items from XmlList

    My Flash designer is reading an XML stream I'm sending back to the browser (I'm a C# dev). We have this working fine. He is then selecting into an XMLList where a element has its id a certain value i.e. . This is also working just fine. In this XmlList, are Events, that look a little something like this: event startdate enddate end event I don't know how to use the formatting here - but each of those items is an element. startdate would have a value such as 04/02/2010 and enddate 6/30/2010. Now, from this XmlList I do have of Events, I need to select all Events where a new variable myDate, falls in between the startdate and enddate. I'm not sure how to do this in AS3 - can anyone help me? Thank you very much in advance!

    In native development, you can produce libraries - .so, .dll etc - that other libraries and programs can share. In Java, you can put your code in a JAR in the classpath and other programs and libraries can use it. So how can you do modular programs in Android? I get the impression from the documentation that each APK is a self-contained island. Can different APKs share code? And how does installation work when you have these external dependencies? Can you specify that you rely on library that is not in your APK and get it installed too? If you can't have 'dynamic linking', can you have 'static linking' by developing your shared code and somehow putting the equiv of a JAR into each APK that requires it?

  • Database file is inexplicably locked during SQLite commit

    Hello, I'm performing a large number of INSERTS to a SQLite database. I'm using just one thread. I batch the writes to improve performance and have a bit of security in case of a crash. Basically I cache up a bunch of data in memory and then when I deem appropriate, I loop over all of that data and perform the INSERTS. At seemingly random intervals, though at far too great a rate to ignore or otherwise workaround this problem, I get unhandled SQLiteException: Database file is locked. This occurs when I attempt to commit the transaction. No errors seem to occur prior to then. This does not always happen. Sometimes the whole thing runs without a hitch. No reads are being performed on these files before the commits finish. I have the very latest SQLite binary. I'm compiling for .NET 2.0. I'm using VS 2008. The db is a local file. All of this activity is encapsulated within one thread / process. Virus protection is off (though I think that was only relevant if you were connecting over a network?). As per Scotsman's post I have implemented the following changes: Journal Mode set to Persist DB files stored in C:\Docs + Settings\ApplicationData via System.Windows.Forms.Application.AppData windows call No inner exception Witnessed on two distinct machines (albeit very similar hardware and software) Have been running Process Monitor - no extraneous processes are attaching themselves to the DB files - the problem is definitely in my code... Does anyone have any idea whats going on here? I know I just dropped a whole mess of code, but I've been trying to figure this out for way too long. My thanks to anyone who makes it to the end of this question! brian UPDATES: Thanks for the suggestions so far! I've implemented many of the suggested changes. I feel that we are getting closer to the answer...however... The code above technically works however it is non-deterministic! It is not guaranteed to do anything aside from spin in neutral forever. In practice it seems to work somewhere between the 1st and 10th iteration. If i batch my commits at a reasonable interval damage will be mitigated but I really do not want to leave things in this state... More suggestions welcome!

    Hi, is there a way to assign the outerposition property of a figure to a figure with a given handle? For example, if I wanted to define a figure as say figure 1, I would use: figure(1) imagesc(Arrayname) % I.e. any array I can also change the properties of a figure using the code: figure('Name', 'Name of figure','NumberTitle','off','OuterPosition',[scrsz(1) scrsz(2) 700 700]); Is there a propertyname I can use to assign the outerposition property to the figure assigned as figure 1? The reason I am asking this is because I am using a command called save2word (from the MATLAB file exchange) to save some plots from a function I have made to a word file, and I want to limit the number of figures I have open as it does this.     Hi all, I have a particular method that is occasionally crashing with an ArgumentException: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds.: at System.Array.Copy(Array sourceArray, Int32 sourceIndex, Array destinationArray, Int32 destinationIndex, Int32 length, Boolean reliable) at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.CopyTo(T[] array, Int32 arrayIndex) at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.InsertRange(Int32 index, IEnumerable`1 collection) at System.Collections.Generic.List`1.AddRange(IEnumerable`1 collection) The code that is causing this crash looks something like this: List<MyType> objects = new List<MyType>(100); objects = FindObjects(someParam); objects.AddRange(FindObjects(someOtherParam); According to MSDN, List<.AddRange() should automatically resize itself as needed: If the new Count (the current Count plus the size of the collection) will be greater than Capacity, the capacity of the List<(Of <(T)) is increased by automatically reallocating the internal array to accommodate the new elements, and the existing elements are copied to the new array before the new elements are added. Can someone think of a circumstance in which AddRange could throw this type of exception?

  • Junit vs TestNG

    At work we are currently still using Junit3 to run our tests. We have been considering switching over to Junit4 for new tests being written but I have been keeping an eye on TestNG for a while now. What experiences have you all had with either Junit4 or TestNG and which seems to work better for very large numbers of tests. Having flexibility in writing tests is also important to us since our functional tests cover a wide aspect and need to be written in a variety of ways to get results. Old tests will not be re-written as they do their job just fine. What I would like to see in new tests though is flexibility in the way the test can be written, natural assertions, grouping, and easily distributed test executions.

  • Can I specify default value?

    Why is it that for user defined types when creating an array of objects every element of this array is initialized with default ctor but when I create built-in type this isn't the case? And second question: is it possible to specify default value to be used while initialize? Something like this (not valid): char* p = new char[size]('\0'); And another question in this topic while I'm with arrays. I suppose that when creating an array of user defined type and knowing the fact that every elem. of this array will be initialized with default value firstly why? If arrays for built in types do not initialize their elems. with their dflts why do they do it for UDT, and secondly: is there a way to switch it off/avoid/circumvent somehow? It seems like bit of a waste if I for example have created an array with size 10000 and then 10000 times dflt ctor will be invoked and I will (later on) overwrite this values anyway. I think that behaviour should be consistent, so either every type of array should be initialized or none. And I think that the behaviour for built-in arrays is more appropriate.

  • Gridview with row being edited causing error when form submitted

    Using ASP.NET VB, I have a form with some text boxes and a Gridview. If a user clicks the Edit button on a row in the gridview, and then tries to submit the form with a row still in edit mode on the Gridview, this error is generated - "Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" % in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. " Any idea how to prevent this error??
