  • How can I clear the cache in an Outlook client pro grammatically?

    I am executing the following routine often in order to clear the local cache of many Outlook clients (Outlook 2003) in order to fix corrupted Forms stored on the users local drive. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab. Click Advanced Options. In the Advanced Options box, click Custom Forms. In the Custom Forms box, click Manage Forms. In the Forms Manager box, click Clear Cache. Is there a way I can program this to occur on the local client? I am looking for a solution that could be included in Outlooks VBScript in order to include it in yet another 'Organizational Forms Library' Forms client side validation code. Would this question better fit Server Fault Stack Exchange via an admin script/tool?

  • Most efficient way to store list structure in XML

    Starting a new project and was planning on storing all of my web content in XML. I do not have access to a database so this seemed like the next best thing. One thing I'm struggling with is how to structure the XML for links (which will later be transformed using XSLT). It needs to be fairly flexible as well. Below is what I started with, but I'm starting to question it. <links> <link> <url>http://google.com</url> <description>Google</description> <link> <link> <url>http://yahoo.com</url> <description>Yahoo</description> <links> <url>http://yahoo.com/search</url> <description>Search</description> </link> <link> </links> That should get transformed into Google Yahoo Search Perhaps something like this might work better. <links> <link href="http://google.com">Google</link> <link href="http://yahoo.com">Yahoo <link href="http://yahoo.com/search">Search</link> </link> </links> Does anyone perhaps have a link that talks about structuring web content properly in XML?   • Unable to view ChildWindows in Silverlight

    So here is the deal. I have created a silverlight dll that contains two ChildWindow dialogs. These dialogs are self contained with a WCF service reference. I want to reuse these dialogs across multiple projects. I have added a reference to the dll in another project. I am able to new up the childWindow, however, I am not able to set the public properties on it and when I call the Show method, nothing is displayed. Not really sure where to start to figure out why this is not working.

  • mysql select from a table depending on in which table the data is in

    I have 3 tables holding products for a restaurant. Products that reside in the bar, food and ingredients. I use php and mysql. I have another table that holds information about the orders that have been made so far. There are 2 fields, the most important ones, that hold information about the id of the product and the type (from the bar, from the kitchen or from the ingredients). I was thinking to write the sql query like below to use either the table for bar products, kitchen or ingredients but it doesn't work. Basically the second table on join must be either "bar", "produse" or "stoc". SELECT K.nume, COUNT(K.cantitate) as cantitate, SUM(K.pret) as pret, P.nume as NumeProduse FROM `clienti_fideli` as K JOIN if(P.tip,bar,produse) AS P ON K.produs = P.id_prod WHERE K.masa=18 and K.nume LIKE 'livrari-la-domiciliu' GROUP BY NumeProduse

  • In Perl, how can a subroutine get a coderef that points to itself?

    For learning purposes, I am toying around with the idea of building event-driven programs in Perl and noticed that it might be nice if a subroutine that was registered as an event handler could, on failure, just schedule another call to itself for a later time. So far, I have come up with something like this: my $cb; my $try = 3; $cb = sub { my $rc = do_stuff(); if (!$rc && --$try) { schedule_event($cb, 10); # schedule $cb to be called in 10 seconds } else { do_other_stuff; } }; schedule_event($cb, 0); # schedule initial call to $cb to be performed ASAP Is there a way that code inside the sub can access the coderef to that sub so I could do without using an extra variable? I'd like to schedule the initial call like this. schedule_event( sub { ... }, 0); I first thought of using caller(0)[3], but this only gives me a function name, (__ANON__ if there's no name), not a code reference that has a pad attached to it.

  • Linux Virtualization Options on EC2

    I need to subdivide EC2 (or perhaps other cloud provider) instances. I know you cannot run a full virtualization stack on another. For instance a Xen guest cannot host a VirtualBox guest. So this means I am left with operating system-level virtualization. EC2 kernels are only publishable by select vendors, so you cannot upload the custom kernels required for OpenVZ or Vserver. For Linux, I think this leaves me with lxc (on Ubuntu 9.10), User Mode Linux, or qemu. I'm having a hard time finding comparisons between them. Performance is a concern, as is the ability to provide SMP to the guests. I would also like to use COW/sparse roots to reduce guest provisioning. My question is, what are the trade-offs between these options?

  • Host timeout during file upload/download over SFTP/SSH

    I tried different clients because i thought its client related, but all of them sooner or later disconnect or stop uploading/downloading files, and getting a timeout disconnect. After a reconnect it works again for a bit of time. Really strange cannot figure out the reason. I'm on a mac and the server is a debian VPS! If u need further informations ask please! I appreciate any tips, because i'm kinda stuck!

  • How to create my own certificate chain?

    I would like to setup my own OCSP Responder (just for testing purposes). This requires me to have a root certificate and a few certificates generated from it. I've managed to create a self-signed certificate using openssl. I want to use it as the root certificate. The next step would be to create the derived certificates. I can't seem to find the documentation on how to do this however. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

  • Linq to find pair of points with longest length?

    I have the following code: foreach (Tuple<Point, Point> pair in pointsCollection) { var points = new List<Point>() { pair.Value1, pair.Value2 }; } Within this foreach, I would like to be able to determine which pair of points has the most significant length between the coordinates for each point within the pair. So, let's say that points are made up of the following pairs: (1) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(0,100), new Point(100,100) }; (2) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(150,100), new Point(200,100) }; So I have two sets of pairs, mentioned above. They both will plot a horizontal line. I am interested in knowing what the best approach would be to find the pair of points that have the greatest distance between, them, whether it is vertically or horizontally. In the two examples above, the first pair of points has a difference of 100 between the X coordinate, so that would be the point with the most significant difference. But if I have a collection of pairs of points, where some points will plot a vertical line, some points will plot a horizontal line, what would be the best approach for retrieving the pair from the set of points whose difference, again vertically or horizontally, is the greatest among all of the points in the collection?   • What is the equivalent to Java's canvas object in C#?

    I'm working on creating a basic application that will let a user draw (using a series of points) and I plan to do something with these points. If this were Java, I think I would probably use a canvas object and some Java2D calls to draw what I want. All the tutorials I've read on C#/Drawing involve writing your own paint method and adding it to the paint event for the form. However, I'm interested in having some traditional Form controls as well and I don't want to be drawing over them. So, is there a "Canvas" object where I can constrain what I'm drawing on? Also, is WinForms a poor choice given this use case? Would WPF have more features that would help enable me to do what I want? Or Silverlight?

  • Submitting AjaxForm with jQuery in ASP.NET MVC

This should supposedly, call the controller's action and return a result that should be replaced with the placeholder DIV. If I add a SUBMIT button to the form, it works perfectly, but when I invoke the submit via jQuery, the whole page is refreshed, and the content returned by the server is displayed in the newly displayed page.     New to subsonic and having issues figuring it out. I am simply just trying to do a distinct search and any documentation I find is telling me to use the class/method SubSonic.SqlQuery Though I am finding out that since I am using the newest version, a lot of the documentation I am finding does not apply. For example, I am getting this query working beautifully using Subsonic.Query.SqlQuery though there is NO distinct method hanging off of it as suggested by what I have seen. Please advice!   • MySQL vs PHP when retrieving a random item

    Hi, which is more efficient (when managing over 100K records): A. Mysql SELECT * FROM user ORDER BY RAND(); of course, after that i would already have all the fields from that record. B. PHP use memcached to have $cache_array hold all the data from "SELECT id_user FROM user ORDER BY id_user" for 1 hour or so... and then: $id = array_rand($cache_array); of course, after that i have to make a MYSQL call with: SELECT * FROM user WHERE id_user = $id; so... which is more efficient? A or B?
