  • SQL DATEDIFF Not working!?

    Hi all, I am running a simple DATEDIFF query but it doesn't seem to calculate the days properly or i'm doing something wrong. If I run PRINT DATEDIFF(Day, 2010-01-20, 2010-01-01) RETURN 19 Which is correct. If i change the month in the first date to Feb (02) I get something strange. PRINT DATEDIFF(Day, 2010-02-20, 2010-01-01) RETURN 20 Now shouldn't it be 48 or something? Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong or is this not the correct function to be using if I want the No of days between these dates? I've tried taking one date from the other: PRINT (2010-02-20) - (2010-01-01) RETURN -20 Any help much appreciated. Thanks J.

  • Selected Item not being updated?

    I've got the following DropDownList control: <asp:DropDownList ID="SubjectFilter" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" onselectedindexchanged="SubjectFilter_SelectedIndexChanged"></asp:DropDownList> SubjectFilter data: BookStore b = new BookStore(); b.LoadFromXML(Server.MapPath("list.xml")); SubjectFilter.DataSource = b.BooksList.Select(x => x.Subject).Distinct().ToArray(); SubjectFilter.DataBind(); SubjectFilter.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("???", "Default")); Everything loads just fine. However in the SubjectFilter_SelectedIndexChanged method, SubjectFilter.SelectedValue is always Default, even though I'm selecting different options. What is the problem? Thank you very much.

  • Removing file locks in Windows and Java

    I have a Java program that opens a file using the RandomAccessFile class. I'd like to be able to rename that file while it is opened by Java. In Unix, this isn't a problem. Does anyone know how I can do this in Windows? Should I set Java to open it a certain way? Thanks in advance.

    I have a search form that is an Ajax form. Within the form is a DropDownList that, when changed, should refresh a PartialView within the Ajax form (via a GET request). However, I'm not sure what to do in order to refresh the PartialView after I get back my results via the GET request.   • Is it a bad idea to use the new Dynamic Keyword as a replacement switch statement?

    I like the new Dynamic keyword and read that it can be used as a replacement visitor pattern. It makes the code more declarative which I prefer.   • inserting number into oracle sql - using jython

    I have this insert command where iam trying to insert a number to be taken from loop i=0 for line in column: myStmt.executeQuery("INSERT INTO REVERSE_COL ( TABLE_NAME,COL_NAME,POS) values (,'test','"+column[i]+"','"+i+"'") i=i+1 POS IS NUMBER DATATYPE but it works if i hard code as 1 i=0 for line in column: myStmt.executeQuery("INSERT INTO REVERSE_COL ( TABLE_NAME,COL_NAME,POS) values (,'test','"+column[i]+"',1") I have tried only i , +i+ and other method but its not working any suggestion how to solve this .   • VBScript - using IF statements in a mail script?

    I really need some quick tips here. I've got this VBScript script which sends an e-mail. And I want to do several checks to see if an attribute is true and if it is, write an additional line in the mail. How can I do this? This is part of the script: obMessage.HTMLBody = ""_ & "<MENU>"_ & "<LI type = square>This is a line</i>."_ I want something which looks like this: obMessage.HTMLBody = ""_ & "<MENU>"_ If statement1 = true Then & "<LI type = square>This is an additional line</i>."_ end if Preferrably, could some select statements be made? I don't really mind what the code looks like, I just want it to work as soon as possible :)

  • Silverlight project builds in VS2008 but fails when using MSBuild

    Hi, We have 2 Silverlight projects in the same solution; SLGlobalResource and SLData. SLData references SLGlobalResource (using references add reference projects). When we build it in debug within VS2008, everything builds fine and all is good. But when we build it using: msbuild TheSolution.sln /p:Configuration=Debug /t:rebuild SLData fails with the following error: ViewModels\ImportViewModel.cs : error CS0246: The type of name space "SLGlobalResource" could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This also happens in TeamCity (I guess because the TeamCity vs2008 runner uses MSBuild) Any ideas? Thanks Edit: There are actually 33 projects in total in the solution. I didn't think this was relevant before but now I'm thinking it could be - could this be a build order thing?

    If I have N STA .NET Threads each performing an independent bulk load operation on a different database using the SQLXMLBulkLoad dll (which requires calling threads to be STA), is it possible for all bulk loads to be happening at the same time, or are they implicitly serialized due to the STA COM configuration?   • Scriptaculous Drag: How do I offset the dragging element?

    This is an age old problem - but now I'm using scriptaculous its come back to haunt me. When dragging a tree node over other tree nodes I want mouseover to fire for each node. So I want to position the dragging thing so that its top-left is slightly offset from the mousepointer I could reposition constantly in the onDrag handler but this is jerky and slow can anyone help? - thanks

  • Wrapping a C# service in a console app to debug it.

    I want to debug a service written in C# and the old fashioned way is just too long. I have to stop the service, start my application that uses the service in debug mode (Visual studio 2008), start the service, attach to the service process and then navigate in my Asp.Net application to trigger the service. I basically have the service running in the background, waiting for a task. The web application will trigger a task to be picked up by the service. What I would like to do is to have a console application that fires the service in an effort for me to debug. Is there any simple demo that anybody knows about? Thank you Jack

  • Should I use a huge composite primary key or just a unique id?

    I have been trying to do web scraping of a particular site and storing the results in a database. My original assumptions about the data allowed a schema where I could use fairly reasonable composite primary keys (usually containing only 2 or 3 fields) but as time went on, I realized that my original assumptions about the data were wrong and my primary keys were not as unique as I thought they were, so I have slowly been expanding them to contain more and more fields. In fact, I have recently come to believe that their database has no constraints whatsoever. Just today, I have finally expanded my a primary key for one of my tables to contain every field in that table and I thought now would be a good time to ask: is it better to add an auto-incrementing column that is just a unique id or just leave a composite primary key on the entire table?

  • jquery to check when a someone starts typing in to a field

Can somebody tell me the correct way to do this or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance EDIT here is the code to do it: $('input#tags').keypress(function() { $('#formcont').fadeIn('slow'); $('#next').hide('slow'); }); The only problem I've found is that my cursor no longer shows up in the text box. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, I have list of 200 rss feeds, which I have to downloading. It's continuous process - I have to download every post, nothing can be missing, but also no duplicates. So best practice should be remember last update of feed and control it for change in x-hour interval? And how to handle if downloader will be restarted? So downloader should remember, what were downloaded and dont download it again... It's somewhere implemented yet? Or any tips for article? Thanks

  • Providing access to a Samba server for VPN clients

    We have some Windows users that connect to our network via VPN from home. They need to be able to connect to our Samba server and access a mapped network drive just as they do as when they are on our LAN. The complication is that VPN clients are placed on a subnet other than our office LAN, and behind a firewall. What's the easiest way for me to allow them to still connect to the network share? The solutions I've currently seen involve setting up a WINS server for name resolution purposes and then tunnelling a bunch of the NetBIOS stuff through the firewall. However that means I'd have to set up the VPN DHCP server to hand out the WINS address, something I'm not even sure is possible on the Cisco hardware we have. I'm thinking there must be an easier way. Should I use an LMHOSTS file? Or just map by IP address? Also, I'm not terribly familiar with Windows networking, so which ports would I need to pass through my firewall in order to get the file sharing through?

    Hi guys! I've a weird problem. I've mysql 5.1 installed on my ubuntu 9.04. I've used it a long time (say 3 month) and everything was going right. Until i faced this really weird problem. When i want to connect to a random database i get this message: ERROR 2006 (HY000): MySQL server has gone away No connection. Trying to reconnect... Connection id: 1 Current database: test_cake ERROR 2006 (HY000): MySQL server has gone away No connection. Trying to reconnect... ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) ERROR: Can't connect to the server It only happens with some databases, while others are totally usefull and healthy.
