  • Help to translate SQL query to Relational Algebra

    Hi everyone, I'm having some difficulties with translating some queries to Relational Algebra. I've a great book about Database Design and here is a chapter about Relational Algebra but I still seem to have some trouble creating the right one: Thoes queries I've most difficuelt with is these: SELECT COUNT( cs.student_id ) AS counter FROM course c, course_student cs WHERE c.id = cs.course_id AND c.course_name = 'Introduction to Database Design' SELECT COUNT( cs.student_id ) FROM Course c INNER JOIN course_student cs ON c.id = cs.course_id WHERE c.course_name = 'Introduction to Database Design' and SELECT COUNT( * ) FROM student JOIN grade ON student.f_name = "Andreas" AND student.l_name = "Pedersen" AND student.id = grade.student_id I know the notation can be a bit hard to paste into HTML forum, but maybe just use some common name or the Greek name.   • How to get a reference to IDuplexChannel, IDuplexSessionChannel or IOutputChannel in Wcf

    I have a duplex Wcf service and I'd like to get a reference to IDuplexChannel, IDuplexSessionChannel or IOutputChannel so that I can use the non-blocking BeginSend method. On my server, inside of the handler for the initiating method I have the following (I have tried every interface that I listed in place of IOutputChannel. None of them seem to exist.) _clientCb = OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel<IDxClientCb>(); _channel = OperationContext.Current.Channel; _duplexChannel = _channel as IOutputChannel; Debug.Print("Service IOutputChannel null: {0}", _duplexChannel == null); Similarly, in the client I have tried to cast the return value of DuplexChannelFactory.CreateChannel() to any of these interfaces and I always get back a null. How do I get a reference to one of these?

    Most WPF styles I have seen are split up into one very long Theme.xaml file. I have a default button style which is BasedOn the default Aero style for a button: <Style x:Key="{x:Type Button}" TargetType="{x:Type Button}" BasedOn="{StaticResource {x:Type Button}}"> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="14"/> ... </Style> If I place all of this in one file it works but as soon as I split it up I get StackOverflow exceptions because it thinks it is BasedOn itself. Is there a way around this? How does WPF add resources when merging resource dictionaries?

  • Visual studio 2008 disable auto open on add item(s).

    I have an solution with no projects in it. All I have in the solution are folders. When I add files to a folder in my solution by right clickcontext menuadd existing item, the new items I add open up by default. This is specially annoying when I have to add multiple files. Please note that the files that I am adding are not code files, they are documents and open up in their default application (e.g. .doc opens in word). Is there any way to disable this auto-open feature?

    Have a maildir with tens of thousands of messages in it, about 70% of which are spam. Would like to: Run /usr/local/bin/spamassassin against it, tagging each message if the score is 10 or greater Have a tcsh shell or perl one-liner grep all mails with a spam score of over 10 and move those mails to /tmp/spam What commands can I run to accomplish this? Pseudocode: /usr/local/bin/spamassassin ./Maildir/cur/* -tagscore10 grep "X-Spam-Score: [10-100]" ./Maildir/cur/* | mv %1 /tmp/spam

Of course there is no user having my address at sonic.net. Also, I assume that I just discovered that I can't send mail to users at sonic.net by accident and that there are probably other domains I can't send e-mail to. So... anybody have any idea what's going on? And how I can get mail to users at sonic.net?

  • CPU Lockup when loading folder of bookmarks in Firefox

    I am running Firefox 3.6 on WinXPSP3 on a duo Core machine with 4G of memory. I am also running Avast! free anti-virus and ZoneAlarm free firewall, both latest versions. Within the last month, my service provider basically forced me to upgrade to a Docsis 3.0 compliant modem (offered me a deal I couldn't turn down). At that point, I also upgraded to FF3.6. Basically, I am not unhappy with many aspects of this switchover, EXCEPT, when I now load a folder of bookmarks (anywhere from 10 to 38) I get nothing like the load times I experienced a couple of months back. It's taking minutes rather than seconds. And the first bookmark in one of the folders, GMail, rarely loads before timing out. I have used the old trick of powering off the cable modem before my day's work. This used to fix 'load-lag' in the old days. I have switched from my ISP's DNS server to Google, OpenDNS and back. And nothing seems to work currently. It's not my DNS cache. That's been flushed and secondary computers also have the same issue when loading folders. I have watched the CPU usage and loading the folder will send VSMon (ZoneAlarm) usage over 40 percent, AVastSvc (Avast!) over 30 and Firefox will then push the needle to 100. There's a brief burst by SVCHost when the others falter in devouring cycles. Then everything subsides to single digits once the last tab is loaded. The only other nominal nastiness is VSMon ALWAYS hitting 50 percent when ANY program starts downloading content from the internet. If I shutdown ZoneAlarm (and VSMon with it), the same slow loading takes place, but this time System is running 50% plus, again driving the usage to 100 per cent. I have my doubts FF3.6 vs FF3.5 is an issue, since the other computers are still running 3.5 and suffer the same issue. Those computers are on, but inactive, most of the time, being backups. Obviously, when the CPU hits 100, I can't do much of anything in FireFox OR in other programs. Video play through WMPC or VLC is extremely choppy, although it doesn't seem to affect the audio. Any ideas what I can try next? Thanks, GM

The answer to the earlier question looks great, but I'm afraid that the Fluent Nhibernate API altered its .WithConvention syntax last year and broke the answer... either that or I'm missing something. I keep getting a bunch of name space not found errors relating to the IOneToOnePart, IManyToOnePart and all their variations: "The type or namespace name 'IOneToOnePart' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" I've tried the official example dll's, the RTM dll's and the latest build and none of them seem to make VS 2008 see the required namespace.     Hello. I want to do a function to my users, so on index.php there is e.g: You have 2 new comments on your clip How should i do this? I mean i want ideas to do this the easiest way. Table for the videos is member_videos, and tables for the comment is member_videocomments, a comment inside the table is connected by their "videoID", which is the id of the column in member_videos. Should i do the classic, making a field, which all is 0, until it has been seen by the user its 1 or what should i do.
