  • Avoid the problem with BigDecimal when migrating to Java 1.4 to Java 1.5+

    Hello, I've recently migrated a Java 1.4 application to a Java 6 environment. Unfortunately, I encountered a problem with the BigDecimal storage in a Oracle database. To summarize, when I try to store a "7.65E+7" BigDecimal value (76,500,000.00) in the database, Oracle stores in reality the value of 7,650,000.00. This defect is due to the rewritting of the BigDecimal class in Java 1.5 (see here). In my code, the BigDecimal was created from a double using this kind of code: BigDecimal myBD = new BigDecimal("" + someDoubleValue); someObject.setAmount(myBD); // Now let Hibernate persists my object in DB... In more than 99% of the cases, everything works fine. Except that in really few case, the bug mentioned above occurs. And that's quite annoying. If I change the previous code to avoid the use of the String constructor of BigDecimal, then I do not encounter the bug in my uses cases: BigDecimal myBD = new BigDecimal(someDoubleValue); someObject.setAmount(myBD); // Now let Hibernate persists my object in DB... However, how can I be sure that this solution is the correct way to handle the use of BigDecimal? So my question is to know how I have to manage my BigDecimal values to avoid this issue: Do not use the new BigDecimal(String) constructor and use directly the new BigDecimal(double)? Force Oracle to use toPlainString() instead of toString() method when dealing with BigDecimal (and in this case how to do that)? Any other solution? Environment information: Java 1.6.0_14 Hibernate 2.1.8 (yes, it is a quite old version) Oracle JDBC 9.0.2.0 and also tested with 10.2.0.3.0 Oracle database 10.2.0.3.0

  • How can I load a view based on how long I hold a UIButton?

    Hello all, I've searched the net and documentation, but haven't found anything quite like what I'm trying to do. I'm working on an app where I want to load one view if a UIButton is held for x seconds, another if it's held for x+y seconds, etc. I found this tutorial. The problem I'm running into is, how do I switch the length of the button press?     Hello I must create a custom media player within the application with support for mp3 and wav files. I read in the documentation i cant seek or get the media file duration without a custom datasoruce. I checked the demo in the JDE 4.6 but i have still problems... I cant get the duration, it return much more then the expected so i`m sure i screwed up something while i modified the code to read the mp3 file locally from the filesystem. Somebody can help me what i did wrong ? (I can hear the mp3, so the player plays it correctly from start to end) I must support OSs = 4.6. I suspect it might have something to do with the fact that it's XML deserialization rather than Runtime deserialization, and perhaps I am using the wrong attribute name, but I can't find out what it might be.   • Cursor while loop returning every value but the last

    Hello, I am using a while loop to iterate through a cursor and then outputing the longitude and latitude values of every point within the database. For some reason it is not returning the last (or first depending on if I use Cursor.MoveToLast) set of longitude and latitude values in the cursor.     I have some points that describe positions in a picture taken with a fisheye lens. I've found this description of how to generate a fisheye effect, but not how to reverse it. How do you calculate the radial distance from the centre to go from fisheye to rectilinear?   • What's correct way to remove a boost::shared_ptr from a list?

    I have a std::list of boost::shared_ptr<T> and I want to remove an item from it but I only have a pointer of type T* which matches one of the items in the list. However I cant use myList.remove( tPtr ) I'm guessing because shared_ptr does not implement == for its template argument type.     I'm writing my own class to manage a skin for an FLVPlayback component. It works 90% of the time, but sometimes the state get really messed up. Specifically, the video is playing, meaning I can see it play and the VideoEvent.PLAYHEAD_UPDATE event is firing, but when I poll the FLVPlayback component about its playing property, it returns false. I assume this may be because 'buffering' is kind of a subset of 'playing', but I cannot confirm this in the documentation. I guess another way to ask this question is, "Does the FLVPlayback component ever buffer while it is in a stopped state?"

    I'm using Direct3D to draw 2D elements in a C++ application of mine, and it'd be neat if I could create rounded-rectangle GUI elements that were varying in size, but I'm not sure how to do that in the most efficient manner possible. I thought of the "easy" way which would be to have images of the four corners and then just place them in the proper positions, and fill in the rest, but varying radii for the rectangle corners would be a definite plus, and this method doesn't accommodate that feature well. Through my searches I've come across the terms Pixel Shader, Stencil Buffering, and HLSL, but I'm not sure whether these terms are relevant and which one to jump into if so.     I'm using require_once() in header.php to include the FirePHP library. In the page.php I'm doing the usual... $firephp = FirePHP::getInstance(true); $firephp->log($categories); Getting these errors.. 'Headers already sent....' and Cannot send log data to FirePHP. You must have Output Buffering enabled via ob_start() or output_buffering ini directive... I figured the using require_once in the template's header.php (above all HTML output) would be safe (pre header output). Guess this is not the case. Anyone have experience with this? (P.S. I tried the WP FirePHP plugin, wasn't working right)

    I am playing a Video using a VideoView in my app. On the click of a button, it records the current position of the video, and the app opens up the browser with some url. On pressing the back button, the app comes back to video app and resumes the video from where it left off. I looked at the Android Activity lifecycle and saw that onStart() method gets called once the video activity comes to the foreground. So I am creating my layout in onStart() and playing the video by seeking to the current position. My problem is that when the video resumes, it buffers from the start and then seeks to. Since it already buffered the first time, is there a way to eliminate buffering again while doing a seekTo? Thanks Chris

    I have a flex 3 app that uses netstream and a video object to stream .mp4 movies. I want to use the bytesLoaded and bytesTotal properties of the netstream to display the buffering information. I would also like to get any information about the number of frames that are dropped if possible. When I've tested on .flv I'm able to get the information without a problem, but it doesn't seem to work on .mp4. Is it possible to get this information streaming .mp4? Is there some configuration that I'm missing to make things work the same for .mp4 as .flv? Thanks!

It always seems to be at a random point in the app. Im not sure how to solve this. Anyone have any ideas ?   • Getting coordinates when clicking anywhere on a MapView

    I just cant get this working. I tried using the code below with onTouchEventand and it doesn't work. If i return true at the end of the method, i get the toast with the coordinates but can't move a map, and if i return false, i can move a map but cant display a toast after the user clicks on a map. If i get it right, the other onTap method is used only for clicking on a overlays.
