• Google chat badge not working anymore?

  I was using google talk chat badge (chatback - small iframe code that enables remote user to chat with you as anonymous) for some years but now it is not working anymore. The generated code is fine as it seems it opens a new window and all but after a second, it redirects to support.google.com page which of course is not of much use. I rechecked the code, generated new code, didn't help. Again redirects to support.google.com. The code is generated from http://www.google.com/talk/service/badge/New Anyone knows what's going on? Have they discontinued it or? Also, a suggestion - is there any alternative web-presence button like that for other messengers which don't require client on other end. For Skype, Windows Live or some other messenger?

• Python wrapper for Google Maps making Google App Engine crash?

  I am currently trying to build a web app using Google App Engine that will involve using the Google Maps API. Since I am coding in python, I tried importing the python wrapper for Google Maps (found here); however, performing the import will cause my web app to crash. Are there any suggestions for how I can fix this problem? I'm guessing the crash might have something to do with the fact that I need to incorporate the google maps python wrapper into my application, but how do I go about doing that? Thanks!

• Google maps api Directions User defined Steps

  Hi All, I have a google map service with the stores mapped on it. I also have directions service (then you define two addresses or more and it shows you a way on this map, see google map api directions). So I wa?? to show the nearest stores to this way. Of course it could be the store located in the next streat of my way, so it also should be included to the list. So far I just found only an array of steps in the directions object which I get from google maps api. But these steps are predefined by google, so they can be too close one each to other and they also can be too far (if a part of your route is a highway or there is no any special steps on your way etc.) So, what I want to do. I want to make my own steps on the line that I get from google directions (for example to put these steps on my line every 500 meeters etc.), and after that to search every step for any stores around 200 meeters. Is it possible to do? I cannot find any solution of this idea in internet.

  I'm running a ms server 2012 box acting as a file server, I've set up 4 shares (IT SECURITY PUBLIC HR) to start out with each share has its corresponding group as full permissions to the folder however when I access the server \server\it it says i don't have permissions. Public has NTLM AUTH as its full read/write and i can't even get into that Clearly im doing something wrong but im very new to windows server and im not sure how to start trouble shooting.

• Google Document export via API

  After using Zend_GData to retrieve a document list feed, I can use the content URLs in the form: http://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=<docid>&hl=en but the source URLs in the form http://docs.google.com/feeds/download/documents/Export?docId=<docid>&exportFormat=html are returning 404 errors. That URL should return the content of the document in the requested format but it is returning 404. This problem is mentioned without resolution on a Google API forum. As indicated in that forum post, this problem only seems to affect new documents. My code works perfectly retrieving old documents, but new ones are 404. Has something changed in the way Google references new documents or in the way permissions are assigned? The code I'm using is essentially the same as the code on this page but this does not seem to be an issue specific to PHP/Zend_Gdata.

• Cannot create a project TFS 2012 - TF218027

  I've just installed TFS2012 and am trying to create a new project in the default collection via Visual Studio 2012 but I keep getting this error message: TF218027: The following reporting folder could not be created on the server that is running SQL Server Reporting Services: /TfsReports/DefaultCollection. The report server is located at: http://<servername>/Reports. The error is: The permissions granted to user '<domain>/grandmasterflush' are insufficient for performing this operation.. Verify that the path is correct and that you have sufficient permissions to create the folder on that server and then try again. I've checked the permissions and my user is a member of the Project Collection Administrators and the Project Collection Administrators group has the 'Create new project' permission set to allow. The only thing I think it might be is that the user that I created during installation for the Sharepoint access and reports viewing does not have permission to write to the reports folder, however if I select "Do not configure a SharePoint site at this time" then I still get the error messages. I can't find the reports folder to check the permissions either. TFS is using an instance of SQL 2012 that was already on the machine when TFS was installed. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong please?

• ARR troubleshooting 502.3 / WinHttp tracing on Server 2012

  I have the following scenario: 3 windows server 2012 virtual servers, all with IIS 8: 1 server with Application Request Routing 3 2 servers with the web applications that the ARR server routes to I am getting intermittent 502 3 12002 errors. Following this guide http://www.iis.net/learn/extensions/troubleshooting-application-request-routing/troubleshooting-502-errors-in-arr I have identified that I need to trace using netsh the WinHttp/WebIO providers to get to the real error code that is mapped to the 12002 error code. I run the trace as the article suggests: netsh trace start scenario=internetclient capture=yes persistent=no level=verbose tracefile=c:\temp\net.etl When analysing the output of the netsh traces, I don't get the level of information that the article suggests I should. Specifically I only get the following types of entry in the trace viewed using netmon: WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Stopping WorkItem Thread Action... WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Starting WorkItem Thread Action... WINHTTP_MicrosoftWindowsWinHttp:Queue Overlapped IO Thread Action... I certainly don't get anything detailed enough that would help me understand why am getting any timeouts. Is there any reason why Server 2012 wouldn't trace the WinHttp API to the level I need? • Cannot connect on TFS 2012 server through SSL with invalid certificate

  I saw the problem on some forums and even here, but not as specific as mine. So here's the thing, So I've configured a TFS 2012 server, on one of my personnel server at home, and now, I'm trying to make it available through the internet, with the help of apache2 on a different UNIX based, physical server. The thing is working perfectly, I don't have any problem accessing the address https://tfs.something.com/tfs through my browser. The address can be pinged and I do have access to the TFS control panel through it. How does it work? Well, with apache2 you can set a virtual host and set up the ProxyPass and ProxyPassReserver setting, so the traffic can externally comes from a secure SSL connection, through a specified domain or sub-domain, but it can be locally redirect on a clear http session on a different port. This is my current setup. As I already said, I can access the web interface, but when I'm trying to connect with Visual Studio 2012, it can't be done. Here's the error I receive: http://i.imgur.com/TLQIn.png The technical information tells me: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. My SSL certificate is invalid and was automatically generated on my UNIX server. Even if I try to add it in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities either on my TFS server or on my local workstation, it doesn't work. I still receive the same error. Is there's a way to completely ignore certificate validation? If not, what's have I done? I mean, I've added the certificate in the trusted root certificates, it should works as mentioned on some forums... If you need more information, please ask me, I'll be pleased to provide you more. • EFI vs MBR - Installing Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 on 8TB

  I'm having some difficulty installing Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 on an Intel Server platform. The server specs is as follows: Intel Grizzly Pass Server System - R2308GZ4GC 2x Intel Xeon 2620 - 2.0 GHZ - BX80621E52620 132 GB of Memory REG-DIMM - TS1GKR72V6H 4x Seagate Constellation ES 2TB 3.5" 7200rpm 6GB/S - ST32000645NS Intel Big Laurel 4CH 6G SAS RAID 512MB - RS2BL040 On the Intel RAID Controller Setup, I have setup the HDD to be in RAID-0 - for testing purposes. (Ultimately configured in RAID-5) So, the total size of HDD space I can use is 7.6 TB something... When I install the Server OS's, they don't seem to go beyond 2 TB (1.76 TB) I have read up on EFI and UEFI boot, and this seems to work in 2012, but I could not install any drivers for the motherboard... So, I also tried EFI for 2008R2, and this worked while installing the OS, it did not however work with the Windows Boot Manager option in the BIOS. It kept on freezing once it tries to load the partition. My idea was to allocate the complete 8 TB for the OS, and load a few VM's on there. I have now started with a new approach where I'll have a 256 GB OS Partition, and a secondary 7.5 TB Data partition. Oh, and I also did a diskpart - convert disk to gpt whilst installing 2008R2. The whole disk was accessible, 7.6TB Can anyone please clarify that EFI/UEFI is meant for larger boot volumes? Bigger than 2TB. If I were to have an ideal situation where my OS is run on a SSD, 256GB, and I can attach the 8 TB drives as normal disk to the OS? I'm I correct in saying that if I wanted to boot from a 8TB partition, I would need to force the BIOS to boot from EFI? The limit for MBR is 2 TB as far as I know now... *FYI: The motherboard is EFI-ready

• System Center 2012 VMM UI is very slow

  I've recently setup system center 2012 a new server 2008 r2 server which I'm using for virtual machines. Everything seems to be working fine, and the virtual machines are nice and fast. But the Virtual Machine Manager interface is always excruciatingly slow. Sometimes taking up to 15 seconds moving between screens. It's very frustrating trying to use it when a task that just involves a couple clicks ends up taking several minutes. Pages that have a lot of form fields seem to take the longest to load - such as the page to change hardware settings of a virtual machine. Is this just normal performance for VMM? If not, where can I look to find what is slowing it down. Nothing else on the system seems to suffer. I can load and use Hyper-V manager with no noticable slowness. Even programs like event viewer that are usually rather slow seem to load fairly fast. Only the system center programs seem slow. Server is a Dell R710, 2x16 core opteron 6274 processors, 96GB RAM. OS drive is 2x500GB 7.2k RPM SAS drives in RAID1 (opted for the less expensive 7.2k drives since pretty much everything is stored on the SAN). Am I just being impatient? Does anyone else use VMM 2012 and find it slow?

• What Would Google Do?

  Last year I read Jeff Jarvis' book What Would Google Do? and found it very interesting. Jeff is a long-time journalist that's been studying technology, and more specifically the internet. He used his skills to reverse-engineer Google into a list of "Google rules," then goes on to describe a futuristic world driven by these rules. Its an interesting look at crowd-sourcing, openness, and collaboration across many industries, including retail (Google Shops). This year Jeff Jarvis will be a keynote speaker at CrossTalk, Oracle's user conference dedicated to the retail industry. This year's theme is... Retail Redefined: Redesign. Reinvigorate. Reimagine. I think that's pretty appropriate given the massive changes the industry has undergone during the last three years. The thing I really like about this conference is that we try to let the retailers do most of the talking. I'm very interested in hearing about the innovative projects they've got brewing, and where they think our industry is heading. I'll be speaking, but I'm not sure about what so let me know of any interesting topics.

• TechEd 2012: Day 3 &ndash; Build Me A Solution

  While digesting my lunch it was time to digest some TFS Build information. While much of my time is spent wearing my developer’s hat I am still a jack of all trades and automated builds are an important aspect of any project.  Because of this I was looking forward to finding out what new features are available in the latest release of Team Foundation Server. The first feature that caught my attention is the TFS Admin Client.  After being used to dealing with NAnt in the past it is nice to see a build a configuration GUI that is so flexible and well thought out.  The bonus is that it the tools that are incorporated in Visual Studio 2012 are just as feature rich.  Life is good. Since automated builds are the hub of your development process in a continuous integration shop I was really interested in the process related options. The biggest value add that I noticed was merge gated check-ins.  Merge or batch gated check-ins are an interesting concept.  If the build breaks with all the changes then TFS will run separate builds for each of the check-ins.  This ability to identify the actual offending check-in can save a lot of time and gray hair. • Google Fonts API JSON Data in WordPress Options-Framework-Theme

  I'm developing a child-theme off of the new Twenty Twelve theme using Wordpress 3.4.2 and the development version of the Options Theme Framework by Devin Price. In Devin's tutorial, it shows of a way to implement 15 Google Web Fonts into the Theme Options page, but not all of them (roughly 560). I know I can create a "manual list", like in the tutorial that states each one with fallbacks, but this is time consuming and unproductive as Google may or may not add to, update, change or remove some of these fonts from their list. The list I've created above will ultimately store unavailable fonts the user thinks is there because of what they can see in the drop-down menu and it won't have any new ones - making the list and some selections obsolete. On the Google Developer API Web Fonts page, it talks briefly on retrieving a "dynamic list" using JSON/JavaScript. I was wondering how would I be able to pull the Google Web Fonts API into my Wordpress Theme Options page so I'm not creating my own list or have to constantly release an update to solve this issue. Could someone please walk me through what I would need to paste into my options.php, functions.php, /inc/options-framework.php file etc. or even in a new one to implement this? I've also had a look into some screencasts, plugins and tutorials on how it works, but none of them are specific enough for people just starting out. Please keep in mind I'm not the best coder... • Disable the Old Adobe Flash Plugin in Google Chrome

  If you’ve just updated to the Dev or Beta release of Google Chrome, you might have noticed that a special version of Adobe Flash is now integrated into the default distribution of Chrome. But what about your old plug-in? As it turns out, the old plug-in is generally still installed… but you can easily disable Chrome plug-ins in the latest version, so let’s get to work. Disable the Extra Flash Plug-in Head over to about:plugins and look through the list—you should notice two Shockwave Flash plugins. The first one should be in your Google Chrome installation folder, and has the filename gcswf32.dll. This is the NEW one, so don’t disable it! If you keep scrollling down, you’ll see the old one, with the file name NPSWF32.dll. This is the OLD plugin, and you can safely disable it. Of course, if you only use Chrome you could just completely uninstall Adobe Flash from your system by heading into Control Panel’s Uninstall Programs screen, and then finding and uninstalling Adobe Flash Player Plugin. The ActiveX version is for Internet Explorer. We’ve not done any testing to see if the old Flash plugin is even still active or not, but may as well disable it just to be sure, right? • Google earth will not reinstall

  I was trying to perform the the fix found at this link http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/01/how-to-make-google-earth-look-native-in-ubuntu It requires you to delete certain files from the /opt/google/earth/free folder and then add some new ones that you download. I deleted the files but the links to download the new ones were unusable. I was using gksudo nautilus so trash was disabled meaning I could not restore the files I had deleted. I the tried to go to the Google Earth website and reinstall it. I downloaded the .deb but when I tried to install it it gav me an error message saying "cannot install ia32-libs" I tried installing this via terminal and it gave me an error message saying chad@chad-Lenovo-G570:~$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs [sudo] password for chad: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. • Is it more difficult to upgrade your certification from SQL Server 2008 to 2012 than to get it from scratch?

  I was wondering about the new MCSA certification on SQL 2012 and how it seems to be more difficult to upgrade your certification from 2008 to 2012 than to get the 2012 from scratch. Reason I think that is true is because anyone with any MCTS SQL Server 2008 certification can upgrade it to a MCSA 2012 by passing 2 tests (457 and 458). If you try to get it from scratch, you need to pass 3 tests (461, 462 and 463 - which are pretty much the same as 432, 433 and 448 for SQL 2008). But the thing is, even though its one test less to upgrade, all the skills necessary to pass 461, 462 and 463 are squeezed on 457 and 458 so, it seems easier to get from scratch than upgrade. Any thoughts?

A month after the installation and configuration was done and everything was working as it was supposed to, Microsoft released Team Foundation Server 2012 in mid August 2012. Well the company was using Borland Starteam as their source control and once starting to use TFS 2010, their developers and project managers were loving it since TFS is not just a source control tool and way much better then StarTeam.   I have a blogger Blog website and I would like to have it show up on my company website. I have read a couple articles out there on how to do it. A hand full of them talk about using FTP which is old and no longer available. However, I am trying to following along with this one: http://www.infinite42.com/small-business/integrate-blogger-blog-website Which seems pretty easy but I am having a problem getting Google to Verify the DNS CName or Text Record that I created on my Windows 2007 Server. Do I need to create this record at the registra level. Right now the domain is setup at the registra to point the www record to my server where on my server I tried the Txt Record and the CName Record with no luck in DNS. Here are the Google instructions for creating a CName file record in DNS: Follow the steps below to create a DNS (Domain Name System) record that proves to Google that you own the domain. Add the CNAME record below to the DNS configuration for abc.com. CNAME Label / Host: CNAME Destination / Target: Click Verify below. When Google finds this DNS record, we'll make you a verified owner of the domain. (Note: DNS changes may take some time. If we don't find the record immediately, we'll check for it periodically.) To stay verified, don't remove the DNS record, even after verification succeeds. Here is the link to do it with a CName: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/08/domain-verification-using-cname-records.html When I go to add my CName record on my server's DNS the only two fields available are Alias Name and Fully Qualified Domain Name.
