  • What is a python equivalent of PHP's var_dump()

    - by Zoredache
When debugging in PHP I frequently find it useful to simply stick a var_dump($foo, $bar, ...) in my code to show me the the what a variable is, what is value is, and the same for anything that it contains. What is a good python equivalent for this? I have seen several things in my Google searching that are somewhat equivalent, but nothing that is the same or better.

  • How to output binary data to a socket with Ruby

    - by Earlz
Hello I have a very simple HTTP ruby server. I want it to simply server a PNG image. So I sent headers like image/png but I think that Ruby is converting the image data to a string first. Here is my relevant code webserver = TCPServer.new('127.0.0.1', 20001) while (session = webserver.accept) #.... file = File.open("tmp_testserve.png", "rb") contents = file.read file.close session.print @content session.close #.... Is this what is happening?

  • IE Overwrite window.top

    - by Dave
I'm trying to convince a page that it is the window.top even though it is in an iframe. In FF you can do window.defineGetter('top', function() { return window}); in Webkit (Safari/Chrome) you can simply do window.top = window but in IE none of those methods work. Anyone done this before?

  • Regex: How do I match some regex logic 1 or more times?

    - by tom
I already have some regex logic which says to look for a div tag with class=something. However, this might occur more than once (one after another). You can't simply add square brackets around that complex regex logic already (e.g. [:some complicated regex logic already existing:]* -- so how do you do it in regex? I want to avoid having to use the programming language logic to append that regex logic after itself if I can... Thanks

  • As3: Plotting text as in technical drawings

    - by Cambiata
Hi! Flash/Actionscript 3 lack the possibility to "draw" text to a displayobject graphics - a textfield has to be created, added and set. This is rather clumsy and time consuming. In the wait for simple and stable alternatives (for example http://lab.polygonal.de/2009/12/15/font-rendering-with-the-fp10-drawing-api/), is there a class or library for simply plotting text strings using graphical primitives (lines), something like the text is "drawn" on plotted technical drawings?

  • Help getting started with MEF

    - by SteveCl
Hi, I was reading somewhere that with MEF I can simply drop a dll into a directory and my application (with some MEF magic) will be able to read it and execute the code in it? Hopefully only classes that implement an interface that I define?? Can someone help me to get going, with some links maybe for my problem. I've looked through some of the docs, but nothing seems to be what I'm after and its tricky when I don't know exactly what to search on... Thx S

  • log4j properties file: how to configure ?

    - by EugeneP
Is it right that the procedure of using log4j looks like this: 1) put a .properties file somewhere in a project folder 2) in an initialization method, that runs only once, invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file"); 3) in every method we need to use logger we define a static logger variable and simply invoke getLogger(class) I'm asking you this: what if the initialization module is not defined? Where to put "log4j.properties" file so that we wouldn't need to invoke propertyconfigurator.configure at all, or if it's not possible, is it ok to invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file") in every method that uses a logger?

  • How to install MinGW Correctly on Windows

    - by Ell
Hello all, I have recently started learning C++ but I require a compiler. I have tried the one packaged with Code::Blocks but I have been told it is out of date. I have tried reading the instructions on the website but I simply don't know which files to download and un-zip. Does anyone know of a list of files to download? (latest version) and a folder structure I need? thanks in advance, ell.

  • Using Castle DynamicProxy is it possible to change the invocation target on class proxy?

    - by Gareth D
Hi Using Castle DynamicProxy v2, I'd like to change the target of an invocation for a class proxy. The new target is simply a different instance of the same type as the original target. The target types do not implement a common interface so I cannot use the IProxyTargetAccessor as detailed in Krzysztof's post on the subject - I cannot cast from a class proxy invocator to a IProxyTargetAccessor. Is there a way to do this?

  • Is there a more clear way to write out multiple functions that are part of an object?

    - by Gemma
I have the following: $scope.modalReset = function () { gridService.modalReset($scope); } $scope.rowAction = function (action, row) { gridService.rowAction(action, $scope, row, 'Question'); } $scope.submitItem = function (formData) { gridService.submitItem($scope, 'Question', formData); } Is there a way that these function calls could be written more simply. I am not looking to combine them. There are all functions that are part of the scope object.

  • regular expression

    - by Jeeenda
Hi I need a regular expression that'll give me something like this part ./something\", [something.sh from something like this string ("./something\", [something.sh", ["./something\", [something.sh"], [/* 37 vars */]) is that possible? I'm having real trouble making this since there's that \" escape sequence and also that ',' character, so I cannot simply use match everything instead of these characters. I'm working on unix so it's also possible to use pipeline of few greps or something like that. Thanks for advice.

  • Fast or asynchronous AS3 JPEG encoding

    - by Bart van Heukelom
I'm currently using the JPGEncoder from the AS3 core lib to encode a bitmap to JPEG var enc:JPGEncoder = new JPGEncoder(90); var jpg:ByteArray = enc.encode(bitmap); Because the bitmap is rather large (3000 x 2000) the encoding takes a long while (about 20 seconds), causing the application to seemingly freeze while encoding. To solve this, I need either: An asynchronous encoder so I can keep updating the screen (with a progress bar or something) while encoding An alternative encoder which is simply faster Is either possible?

  • How to find relation between change in latitudes at centre of map and top/bottom

    - by Imran
Hi, Im having little trouble finding a relation between the movement at centre and edge of a circle, Im doing for panning world map,my map extent is 180,89:-180,-89, my map pans by adding change(dx,dY) to its extents and not its centre. Now a situation has arrrised where I have to move the map to a specific centre, to calculate the change in longitudes is very easy and simple, but its the change in lattitudes that has caused problem. It seems the change in centreY of map is more than the change at edge of the mapY, or simply if I have to move the map centre from 0long,0lat to 73long,33lat, for dX I simply get 73, but for dY apparently it looks 33 but if i add 33 to top of map that is 89 , it will be 122 which is incorrect since Latitudes are between 90 and -90 . It seems a case a projection of a circle on 2D plane where the edge of circle since is moving backward due to angle expereinces less change and the centre expereinces more change, now is there a relation between these two factors? I tried converting the difference between OriginY and destinationY into radians and then add to Top and Bottom of Map, but it did'nt really work for me. Please note that the map is project on a virtual canvas whose width starts from 256 and increases by 256*2^z , z=0 is default and whole world is visible at that extent of canvas code: public void moveMapTo(double destinationLongitude, double destinationLattitude) // moves map to the new centre { double dXLong=destinationLongitude-centreLongitude; double atanhsinO = atanh(Math.sin(destinationLattitude * Math.PI / 180.00)); double atanhsinD = atanh(Math.sin(centreLatitude * Math.PI / 180.00)); double atanhCentre = (atanhsinD + atanhsinO) / 2; double latitudeSpan =destinationLattitude - centreLatitude; double radianOfCentreLatitude = Math.atan(Math.sinh(atanhCentre)); double dXLat=latitudeSpan / Math.cos(radianOfCentreLatitude); dXLat*=getLattitudeSpan()*(Math.PI/180); <--- HERE IS THE PORBLEM System.out.println("dxLong:"+dXLong+"_dxLat:"+dXLat); mapLeft+=dXLong; mapRight+=dXLong; mapTop+=dXLat; mapBottom+=dXLat; } ////latitude span function private double getLattitudeSpan() { double latitudeSpan = mapTop - mapBottom; latitudeSpan = latitudeSpan / Math.cos(radianOfCentreLatitude); return Math.abs(latitudeSpan); } //ht
