• How to set up server side message filters on sendmail/Imap server?

  I currently have message filters set up in Thunderbird to put incoming email messages from various sources in appropriate server side folders. Since I envision starting to use a smartphone (Android) based IMAP client which doesn't support folders or message filters I'd like to move these filters server side and take them off the clients. The Linux server email system is sendmail and UW IMAP. Can someone steer me in the direction of setting up such filters on the server side?

• cannot find java even though it is there (ubuntu 12.04)

  I'm trying to just execute the java command and it's saying it cannot be found, even though it is there. Here's what my output looks like root@oneiric:/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin# ls -al java -rwxrwxrwx 1 uucp 143 5750 2012-09-20 11:14 java root@oneiric:/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin# ./java -su: ./java: No such file or directory So the ls shows it's there, but it doesn't seem to execute. Can someone explain why this is?

• MKV video suddenly stops playing after random time - what could this be?

  I have this HP USB drive (16GB, NTFS formatted) that has, a MKV video. The USB is always detectable, so is the MKV, but when I connect that USB drive with that MKV video on my HT-C5530 home cinema USB port, the playback just suddenly stops after random time, and it returns to the main menu when I can see the pen and it's contents. I really have no clue about what could be the issue here, has someone else experience something similar? That may help me out on this.

  Hi! I am trying to find a way in mutt to jump to my reply to a mail. To be precise: I have a mail from someone else open in mutt and I replied to that mail - a copy of that reply is in the sent folder. I've heard that it can be achieved using "Profiles" in Catalyst Control Center - I've found something called "Presets" in the latest 11.x version but can't figure it out (settings not being stored and applied properly). • Grab latest version of PHP by URL? [closed]

  I'm unable to find the directory listing of all PHP packages. I'm basically looking for the latest stable version of 5.3 utilizing some sort of script that will go out and check PHP's website. If I can get a directory listing (can't seem to find one), I can do the rest.   I've had a few issues where users have mistakenly created public synonyms which have led to people thinking some objects are in one schema when they're actually in another schema. Everyone knows they should be using private synonyms, but occasionally they forget or they make a mistake and someone gets burned. Is it possible to GRANT users the permission to create private synonyms but disallow public ones?

• what's the PC version of "wget -r" to get files off an ftp site in the command line?

  someone showed me a really quick way to get folders off an ftp site via the shell on a Mac using the command "wget -r ftp://" (then the address of the ftp site folder location) and it would download to whatever folder i was in, keeping all the sub directories the same as the ftp site seemed really quick and easy, but how do i do a similar thing on a PC?

• Directory backed up with rsync is much bigger than source

  We backup a set of virtual machines to an external USB drive using rsync -a. The source directory is 145G as reported by du -sh, but the target is reporting 181G. The two file systems are ext3 and the block size is the same, so can someone explain what the discrepancy is?
