  • How to bind Data to Dropdownlist in Kendo Ui Mobile

    - by dinesh Haraveer
    I have been using Kendo Mobile to develop an application, previously same application i have done in Kendo web,it's works fine.The main problem is that i have to bind data to two dropdownlist which the below code i have written,when my application is running it show an error like "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support property or method 'append'". in HTML <div id="forms" data-role="view" data-title="Form Elements" data-init="initForm"> <table> <tr> <td> <label style="margin-left: 20px"> Company:</label> </td> <td> <select id="ddlCompany" style="width: 200px"> <option>Select Company</option> </select> </td> <td class="style1"> <label style="margin-left: 20px"> Category:</label> </td> <td> <select id="ddlCategory" style="width: 200px"> <option>Select Category</option> </select> </td> <td> <label style="margin-left: 20px"> Product :</label> </td> <td> <select id="ddlProduct" style="width: 200px"> <option>Select Product</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table> </div> function initForm() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "FlashReportMobileWebService.asmx/GetCompany", dataType: "json", success: function (data) { for (i = 0; i < data.d.length; i++) { ddlCompany.append($("<option></option>").val(data.d[i].Company).html(data.d[i].Company)); }; $("#ddlCompany").kendoDropDownList(); } }); $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "FlashReportMobileWebService.asmx/ToCategoryDropDown", dataType: "json", success: function (data) { for (i = 0; i < data.d.length; i++) { ddlCategory.append($("<option></option>").val(data.d[i].Category).html(data.d[i].Category)); }; $("#ddlCategory").kendoDropDownList(); }, failure: function (msg) { alert(msg); } }); } $("#ddlCategory").change( function (e) { var ddlProduct= $("#ddlProduct"); var dataItem = $("#ddlCategory").val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: "{'Category':'" + dataItem + "'}", url: "FlashReportWebService.asmx/ToFillProductDropDown", dataType: "json", success: function (data) { ddlProduct.empty(); for (i = 0; i < data.d.length; i++) { ddlProduct.append($("<option></option>").val(data.d[i].ProductName).html(data.d[i].ProductName)); }; $("#ddlProduct").kendoDropDownList(); }, failure: function (msg) { alert(msg); } }); }); var app = new kendo.mobile.Application(document.body); thanks for reading this

  • Why can't I use interface with explicit operator?

    - by theburningmonk
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows the reason why you are not allowed to use interfaces with the implicit or explicit operators? E.g. this raises compile time error: public static explicit operator MyPlayer(IPlayer player) { ... } "user-defined conversions to or from an interface are not allowed" Thanks,

  • How to invalidate the OutputCache in a webfarm?

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, i've got a website that uses OutputCache attribute to cache pages. Works great. Now, I'm in the middle of R&D'ing scaling up this site to be in a web farm. Along with the usual suspects for webfarm pain ... I've noticed (pretty quickly/obviously) that the OutputCache from Server_A doesn't invalidate the OutputCache from Server_B .. if a try and invalidate a single server's OutputCache. This makes total sense - how can S_A 'tell' S_B to invalidate when they are physically 2 seperate machines, etc? So - what are our options? Velocity? I understand this will move the caching to a different layer .. which means that the final result (output) will always be required to be determined .. as opposed to the OutputCache whic remembers the final output content (yes, varby gives different versions, etc.. which is totally fine). So even though the poco or business objects are all sync'd, there's still that last rendering effort required (even if it's tiny .. compared to the effort to generate/sync business objects). So yeah .. not sure of the options here and what other people do?

  • Software Update Notifications

    - by devio
I am considering implementing some sort of Software Update Notification for one of the web applications I am developing. There are several questions I came across: Should the update check be executed on the client or on the server? Client-side means, the software retrieves the most current version information, performs its checks, and displays the update information. Server-side check means the software sends its version info to the server, which in turn does the calculations and returns information to the client. My guess is that server-side implementation may turn out to be more flexible and more powerful than client-side, as I can add functionality to the server easily, as long as the client understands it. Where should the update info be displayed? Is it ok to display on the login screen? Should only admins see it? (this is a web app with a database, so updating requires manipulation of db and web, which is only done by admins). What about a little beeping flashing icon which increases in size as the version gets more obsolete every day ;) ? Privacy issues Not everybody likes to have their app usage stats broadcast over the internet. TheOnion question: What do you think?

  • How does Read-Only affect a Directory?

    - by ispiro
I've found that I can write (say, copy a file into) a Read-Only directory. That is, a Directory with ...Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly.I can even change its name. The only thing I've found that can't be done is to delete it. Is that really the only thing that ReadOnly prevents? EDIT: Here's the code: (The Directory is empty.) (new DirectoryInfo(path)).Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly; Directory.Delete(path); It throws an Access to the path 'c:\... is denied. exception. But after changing ReadOnly to Normal it works fine. So what does a ReadOnly prevent, and what doesn't it prevent?

  • DIY intellisense on XPath - design approach? (WinForms app)

    - by Cheeso
I read the DIY Intellisense article on code project, which was referenced from the Mimic Intellisense? question here on SO. I wanna do something similar, DIY intellisense, but for XPath not C#. The design approach used there makes sense to me: maintain a tree of terms, and when the "completion character" is pressed, in the case of C#, a dot, pop up the list of possible completions in a textfield. Then allow the user to select a term from the textfield either through typing, arrow keys, or double-click. How would you apply this to XPath autocompletion? should there be an autocomplete key? In XPath there is no obvious separator key like "dot" in C#. should the popup be triggered explicitly in some other way, let's say ctrl-. ? or should the parser try to autocomplete continuously? If I do the autocomplete continuously, how to scale it properly? There are 93 xpath functions, not counting overloads. I certainly don't want to popup a list of 93 choices. How do I decide when I've narrowed it enough to offer a useful lsit of possible completions? How to populate the tree of possible completions? For C#, it's easy: walk the type space via reflection. At a first level, the "syntax tree" for C# seems like a single tree, and the list of completions at any point depends on the graph of nodes you've traversed to that point. Typing System.Console. traverses to a certain node in that tree, and the list of completions is the set of child nodes available at that node in the tree. On the other hand, the xpath syntax seems like it is a "flatter" tree - function names, axis names, literals. Does this make sense? what have I not considered?

  • Gridview with row headers

    - by Seagull
I am using the ASP.NET3.5 gridview control in a new project. My problem is that the gridview presents data in basic tabular format, whereas I want a grid with row header / grouping behaviors. An example of this would be Outlook web interface, which can group emails by date, as well as allowing you to select individual emails to display. My problem: I can't see how this could be easily done with Gridview? I did find a product called Telerik that has a seemingly fancy Gridview, but I am hesitant to spend money on a single components that now also locks me into a third-party framework...

  • How do I localize the jQuery DatePicker?

    - by Thomas Eyde
I really need a localized dropdown calendar. An English calendar doesn't exactly communicate excellence on a Norwegian website ;-) I have experimented with the jQuery DatePicker, their website says it can be localized, however that doesn't seem to work. I am using ASPNET.MVC, and I really want to stick to one javascript library. In this case jQuery. The ajax toolkit calendar would be acceptable, if only it too would display Norwegian names. Update: Awesome! I see I am missing the language files, a not so minor detail :-)

  • Can a WCF contract use multiple callback interfaces?

I'm trying something like this: [ServiceContract ( CallbackContract = typeof (CallbackContract_1), CallbackContract = typeof (CallbackContract_2), CallbackContract = typeof (CallbackContract_3)) ] public interface SomeWcfContract { I know it does not work like this. Is there still a way to get a single contract use multiple callback interfaces?

  • WMI: Create Method of the Win32_Service Class

    - by Marco
Hello, I'm trying to use the Create method of the Win32_Service class, but when I call the InvokeMethod, I receive this exception: System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid method at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementObject.InvokeMethod(String methodName, ManagementBaseObject inParameters, InvokeMethodOptions options) at <StartupCode$FSI_0075>.$FSI_0075.main@() This is the code (in F# but it is understable for C# programmers too :)): let scope = new ManagementScope(@"root\cimv2", null) use imageService = Utility.getServiceObject scope "Win32_Service" use inParams = imageService.GetMethodParameters("Create") inParams.["Name"] <- name inParams.["DisplayName"] <- displayName inParams.["PathName"] <- pathName inParams.["ServiceType"] <- 0x10 // Own Process inParams.["ErrorControl"] <- 0 // User is not notified inParams.["StartMode"] <- "Automatic" inParams.["DesktopInteract"] <- false inParams.["StartName"] <- "LocalSystem" inParams.["StartPassword"] <- "" inParams.["ServiceDependencies"] <- null use outParams = imageService.InvokeMethod("Create", inParams, null) The exception is thrown when the last line is executed (I removed the next lines). I think I'm calling correctly the method, so I don't know why the exception is thrown. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, Marco

  • 'abstract class' versus 'normal class' for a reusable library

    - by Greg
I'm developing a reusable library and have been creating abstract classes, so the client can then extend from these. QUESTION: Is there any reason in fact I should use an abstract class here as opposed to just a normal class? Note - Have already decided I do not want to use interfaces as I want to include actual default methods in my library so the client using it doesn't have to write the code.

  • Viewstate in a .ashx Handler?

    - by Matt Dawdy
I've got a handler (list.ashx for example) that has a method that retrieves a large dataset, then grabs only the records that will be shown on any given "page" of data. We are allowing the users to do sorting on these results. So, on any given page run, I will be retrieving a dataset that I just got a few seconds/minutes ago, but reordering them, or showing the next page of data, etc. My point is that my dataset really hasn't changed. Normally, the dataset would be stuck into the viewstate of a page, but since I'm using a handler, I don't have that convenience. At least I don't think so. So, what is a common way to store the viewstate associated with a current user's given page when using a handler? Is there a way to take the dataset, encode it somehow and send that back to the user, and then on the next call, pass it back and then rehydrate a dataset from those bits? I don't think Session would be a good place to store it since we might have 1000 users all viewing different datasets of different data, and that could bring the server to its knees. At least I think so. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of situation, and can you give me any advice?

  • Visual Studio Default Browser (MVC)

    - by Kirschstein
Possible Duplicate: Visual Studio opens default browser instead of IE I want to change the default browser used by Visual Studio for debugging. Normally the route I'd take to do this is right clicking on an .aspx file and setting the default from the 'browse with' dialog. Unfortunately, MVC views don't have the browse with option. What other ways can you set the default browser? EDIT: FireFox is set to my default browser in Windows, but VS still opens up IE.

  • Visual Studio Multi-Targeting (maintaing backwards compatability)

    - by Phillip Benages
I know in Visual Studio 2008 you can target a specific framework with your projects, but from what I have been told if you open a project originally created in Visual Studio 2003 or 2005 in Visual Studio 2008, it requires you to upgrade the project to a 2008 project to work on it. Does Visual Studio 2010 have this same type of restriction for multi-targeting? It would be very nice being able to use features of 2010 when working in our projects that target different frameworks, but we do not want to force all of our developers to upgrade in order to continue working in these projects.

  • Unable to verify body hash for DKIM

    - by Joshua
I'm writing a C# DKIM validator and have come across a problem that I cannot solve. Right now I am working on calculating the body hash, as described in Section 3.7 Computing the Message Hashes. I am working with emails that I have dumped using a modified version of EdgeTransportAsyncLogging sample in the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent SDK. Instead of converting the emails when saving, it just opens a file based on the MessageID and dumps the raw data to disk. I am able to successfully compute the body hash of the sample email provided in Section A.2 using the following code: SHA256Managed hasher = new SHA256Managed(); ASCIIEncoding asciiEncoding = new ASCIIEncoding(); string rawFullMessage = File.ReadAllText(@"C:\Repositories\Sample-A.2.txt"); string headerDelimiter = "\r\n\r\n"; int headerEnd = rawFullMessage.IndexOf(headerDelimiter); string header = rawFullMessage.Substring(0, headerEnd); string body = rawFullMessage.Substring(headerEnd + headerDelimiter.Length); byte[] bodyBytes = asciiEncoding.GetBytes(body); byte[] bodyHash = hasher.ComputeHash(bodyBytes); string bodyBase64 = Convert.ToBase64String(bodyHash); string expectedBase64 = "2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8="; Console.WriteLine("Expected hash: {1}{0}Computed hash: {2}{0}Are equal: {3}", Environment.NewLine, expectedBase64, bodyBase64, expectedBase64 == bodyBase64); The output from the above code is: Expected hash: 2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8= Computed hash: 2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8= Are equal: True Now, most emails come across with the c=relaxed/relaxed setting, which requires you to do some work on the body and header before hashing and verifying. And while I was working on it (failing to get it to work) I finally came across a message with c=simple/simple which means that you process the whole body as is minus any empty CRLF at the end of the body. (Really, the rules for Body Canonicalization are quite ... simple.) Here is the real DKIM email with a signature using the simple algorithm (with only unneeded headers cleaned up). Now, using the above code and updating the expectedBase64 hash I get the following results: Expected hash: VnGg12/s7xH3BraeN5LiiN+I2Ul/db5/jZYYgt4wEIw= Computed hash: ISNNtgnFZxmW6iuey/3Qql5u6nflKPTke4sMXWMxNUw= Are equal: False The expected hash is the value from the bh= field of the DKIM-Signature header. Now, the file used in the second test is a direct raw output from the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent. If so inclined, you can view the modified EdgeTransportLogging.txt. At this point, no matter how I modify the second email, changing the start position or number of CRLF at the end of the file I cannot get the files to match. What worries me is that I have been unable to validate any body hash so far (simple or relaxed) and that it may not be feasible to process DKIM through Exchange 2010.

  • How to add global exception handling to a add-in dll?

    - by redjackwong
Here's my context: I am writing a WPF add-in for an application. This Application's main thread is unmanaged. I want to add a global exception handling system for this add-in to handle any unhandled exceptions. Here's what I've tried but not working: I cannot add a try-catch block to my Application.Run() code line. Because I am an add-in, that code fragment is in the application. System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadException is not working too. There might not be an WinForm Application exists. (WPF hosting in unmanaged code.) AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException is not working too. Because maybe it's handled by the Application itself. It just doesn't enter my code. So, any ideas for this situation?
