  • Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) OpenLDAP invalid credentials issue

    - by gmuller
This won't be a question, but a solution to an infuriating problem on Ubuntu 10.04. If you tried to deploy an LDAP server using this distro following the tutorials below, you'll be on serious trouble. Tutorials: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/serverguide/C/openldap-server.html https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/serverguide/C/samba-ldap.html The error first appear, on the line: "ldapsearch -xLLL -b cn=config -D cn=admin,cn=config -W olcDatabase=hdb olcAccess" It simply won't allow admin to access the "cn=config", thus you won't be able to deploy the LDAP server correctly. After almost a week searching for a solution, I've found this page: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/+bug/333733 On comment #5, the solution is presented. Quoting the author: when you get to the setting up ACL part you all of a sudden need to use a cn=admin,cn=config, that doesn't exist creating a config.ldif with dn: olcDatabase={0}config,cn=config changetype: modify add: olcRootDN olcRootDN: cn=admin,cn=config dn: olcDatabase={0}config,cn=config changetype: modify add: olcRootPW olcRootPW: secret dn: olcDatabase={0}config,cn=config changetype: modify delete: olcAccess and adding it with ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f config.ldif It's unacceptable that a Linux distribution, popular like Ubuntu, have such ridiculous bug. Hope it helps everyone!

  • WCF fault logging and SQL Exception 4060 error.

    - by Bill
I have been attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign) for several days. The example app utilizes Juval's ServiceModelEx library which logs faults/errors to a "WCFLogbook" SQL database. Unfortunately, when the sample app faults, I get the following error: SQL Exception 4060: "Cannot open database \"WCFLogbook\" requested by the login. The login failed.\r\nLogin failed for user 'Bill-PC\Bill'." I confirmed that the SQL WCFLogbook database has been created and have granted all of the appropriate permissions for my (Bill-PC\Bill) access to the database. Additionally port 8006 and port 1433 have been opened in the Firewall. TCP/IP has been enabled and "Allow remote connections to this server" has been checked. I am using the following endpoint within the App.Config file: <client> <endpoint name="LogbookTCP" address="net.tcp://Bill-PC:8006/LogbookManager" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="ILogbookManager" /> </client> Unfortunately SQL is a 'world' that I hadn't needed to venture into before now and I am terribly frustrated with my lack of success. Would anyone have any other suggestions on how to get this working? Have I missed anything?

  • Land of Lisp example question

    - by cwallenpoole
I've read a lot of good things about Land of Lisp so I thought that I might go through it to see what there was to see. (defun tweak-text (lst caps lit) (when lst (let ((item (car lst)) (rest (cdr lst))) (cond ; If item = space, then call recursively starting with ret ; Then, prepend the space on to the result. ((eq item #\space) (cons item (tweak-text rest caps lit))) ; if the item is an exclamation point. Make sure that the ; next non-space is capitalized. ((member item '(#\! #\? #\.)) (cons item (tweak-text rest t lit))) ; if item = " then toggle whether we are in literal mode ((eq item #\") (tweak-text rest caps (not lit))) ; if literal mode, just add the item as is and continue (lit (cons item (tweak-text rest nil lit))) ; if either caps or literal mode = true capitalize it? ((or caps lit) (cons (char-upcase item) (tweak-text rest nil lit))) ; otherwise lower-case it. (t (cons (char-downcase item) (tweak-text rest nil nil))))))) (the comments are mine) (FYI -- the method signature is (list-of-symbols bool-whether-to-caps bool-whether-to-treat-literally) but the author shortened these to (lst caps lit).) But anyway, here's the question: This has (cond... (lit ...) ((or caps lit) ...)) in it. My understanding is that this would translate to if(lit){ ... } else if(caps || lit){...} in a C style syntax. Isn't the or statement redundant then? Is there ever a condition where the (or caps lit) condition will be called if caps is nil?

  • Why is my Android app camera preview running out of memory on my AVD?

    - by Bryan
    I have yet to try this on an actual device, but expect similar results. Anyway, long story short, whenever I run my app on the emulator, it crashes due to an out of memory exception. My code really is essentially the same as the camera preview API demo from google, which runs perfectly fine. The only file in the app (that I created/use) is as below- package berbst.musicReader; import java.io.IOException; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.hardware.Camera; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.SurfaceHolder; import android.view.SurfaceView; /********************************* * Music Reader v.0001 * Still VERY under construction. * @author Bryan * *********************************/ public class MusicReader extends Activity { private MainScreen main; @Override //Begin activity public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); main = new MainScreen(this); setContentView(main); } class MainScreen extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback { SurfaceHolder sHolder; Camera cam; MainScreen(Context context) { super(context); //Set up SurfaceHolder sHolder = getHolder(); sHolder.addCallback(this); sHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); } public void surfaceCreated(SurfaceHolder holder) { // Open the camera and start viewing cam = Camera.open(); try { cam.setPreviewDisplay(holder); } catch (IOException exception) { cam.release(); cam = null; } } public void surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder holder) { // Kill all our crap with the surface cam.stopPreview(); cam.release(); cam = null; } public void surfaceChanged(SurfaceHolder holder, int format, int w, int h) { // Modify parameters to match size. Camera.Parameters params = cam.getParameters(); params.setPreviewSize(w, h); cam.setParameters(params); cam.startPreview(); } } }

  • Base 128 or 256 Encoding for the Binary Lexical Octet Adhoc Transport Protocol?

    - by Randolpho
I'm in the process of implementing a network driver for the Binary Lexical Octet Adhoc Transport (BLOAT) protocols in the hopes of replacing the TCP/UDP/IP stack with a much more flexible XML structure. BLOAT is detailed in RFC 3252, so if you're unfamiliar with the protocol I highly recommend you read the entire RFC before providing any comments. Don't worry, it's short and sweet; you might even enjoy it. Anyway, my problem is this: BLOAT requires that the payload be Base64 encoded which doesn't make sense to me. I mean, sure, it's the internet standard for binary payloads, but there are better, more efficient encodings available: Base128 and Base256, for example. That the RFC requires Base64 and doesn't allow for any other payload encoding really bothers me. To that end, I'm considering a small optional change to the protocol. Embrace and extend, right? Anyway, I'd like to modify the payload element to accept an encoding attribute, which can extend the encoding to Base128 or Base256, or even to other encodings I can't conceive of at the moment. If the encoding attribute isn't present, Base64 would be assumed. So my question is this: should I? I mean, BLOAT is an accepted standard, even if it isn't exactly omnipresent. If I make this change, will there be compatibility issues? I don't foresee any, but perhaps you, oh great Stack Overflow Community, can? If I do implement this change, should I contact the original RFC author? Should I offer a supplemental RFC?

  • How to keep text inside a circle using Cairo?

    - by miguelrios
    I a drawing a graph using Cairo (pycairo specifically) and I need to know how can I draw text inside a circle without overlapping it, by keeping it inside the bounds of the circle. I have this simple code snippet that draws a letter "a" inside the circle: ''' Created on May 8, 2010 @author: mrios ''' import cairo, math WIDTH, HEIGHT = 1000, 1000 #surface = cairo.PDFSurface ("/Users/mrios/Desktop/exampleplaces.pdf", WIDTH, HEIGHT) surface = cairo.ImageSurface (cairo.FORMAT_ARGB32, WIDTH, HEIGHT) ctx = cairo.Context (surface) ctx.scale (WIDTH/1.0, HEIGHT/1.0) # Normalizing the canvas ctx.rectangle(0, 0, 1, 1) # Rectangle(x0, y0, x1, y1) ctx.set_source_rgb(255,255,255) ctx.fill() ctx.arc(0.5, 0.5, .4, 0, 2*math.pi) ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.set_line_width(0.03) ctx.stroke() ctx.arc(0.5, 0.5, .4, 0, 2*math.pi) ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.set_line_width(0.01) ctx.set_source_rgb(255,0,255) ctx.fill() ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.select_font_face("Georgia", cairo.FONT_SLANT_NORMAL, cairo.FONT_WEIGHT_BOLD) ctx.set_font_size(1.0) x_bearing, y_bearing, width, height = ctx.text_extents("a")[:4] print ctx.text_extents("a")[:4] ctx.move_to(0.5 - width / 2 - x_bearing, 0.5 - height / 2 - y_bearing) ctx.show_text("a") surface.write_to_png ("/Users/mrios/Desktop/node.png") # Output to PNG The problem is that my labels have variable amount of characters (with a limit of 20) and I need to set the size of the font dynamically. It must fit inside the circle, no matter the size of the circle nor the size of the label. Also, every label has one line of text, no spaces, no line breaks. Any suggestion?

  • How to Determine The Module a Particular Exception Class is Defined In

    - by doug
Note: i edited my Q (in the title) so that it better reflects what i actually want to know. In the original title and in the text of my Q, i referred to the source of the thrown exception; what i meant, and what i should have referred to, as pointed out in one of the high-strung but otherwise helpful response below, is the module that the exception class is defined in. This is evidenced by the fact that, again, as pointed out in one of the answers below the answer to the original Q is that the exceptions were thrown from calls to cursor.execute and cursor.next, respectively--which of course, isn't the information you need to write the try/except block. For instance (the Q has nothing specifically to do with SQLite or the PySQLite module): from pysqlite2 import dbapi2 as SQ try: cursor.execute('CREATE TABLE pname (id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, name VARCHARS(50)') except SQ.OperationalError: print("{0}, {1}".format("table already exists", "... 'CREATE' ignored")) # cursor.execute('SELECT * FROM pname') while 1: try: print(cursor.next()) except StopIteration: break # i let both snippets error out to see the exception thrown, then coded the try/finally blocks--but that didn't tell me anything about which module the exception class is defined. In my example, there's only a single imported module, but where there are many more, i am interested to know how an experienced pythonista identifies the exception source (search-the-docs-till-i-happen-to-find-it is my current method). [And yes i am aware there's a nearly identical question on SO--but for C# rather than python, plus if you read the author's edited version, you'll see he's got a different problem in mind.]

  • Nested dereferencing arrows in Perl: to omit or not to omit?

    - by DVK
In Perl, when you have a nested data structure, it is permissible to omit de-referencing arrows to 2d and more level of nesting. In other words, the following two syntaxes are identical: my $hash_ref = { 1 => [ 11, 12, 13 ], 3 => [31, 32] }; my $elem1 = $hash_ref->{1}->[1]; my $elem2 = $hash_ref->{1}[1]; # exactly the same as above Now, my question is, is there a good reason to choose one style over the other? It seems to be a popular bone of stylistic contention (Just on SO, I accidentally bumped into this and this in the space of 5 minutes). So far, none of the usual suspects says anything definitive: perldoc merely says "you are free to omit the pointer dereferencing arrow". Conway's "Perl Best Practices" says "whenever possible, dereference with arrows", but it appears to only apply to the context of dereferencing the main reference, not optional arrows on 2d level of nested data structures. "MAstering Perl for Bioinfirmatics" author James Tisdall doesn't give very solid preference either: "The sharp-witted reader may have noticed that we seem to be omitting arrow operators between array subscripts. (After all, these are anonymous arrays of anonymous arrays of anonymous arrays, etc., so shouldn't they be written [$array-[$i]-[$j]-[$k]?) Perl allows this; only the arrow operator between the variable name and the first array subscript is required. It make things easier on the eyes and helps avoid carpal tunnel syndrome. On the other hand, you may prefer to keep the dereferencing arrows in place, to make it clear you are dealing with references. Your choice." Personally, i'm on the side of "always put arrows in, since itg's more readable and obvious tiy're dealing with a reference".

  • How to include multiple tables programmaticaly into a Sweave document using R

    - by PaulHurleyuk
    Hello, I want to have a sweave document that will include a variable number of tables in. I thought the example below would work, but it doesn't. I want to loop over the list foo and print each element as it's own table. % \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \usepackage[OT1]{fontenc} \usepackage{longtable} \usepackage{geometry} \usepackage{Sweave} \geometry{left=1.25in, right=1.25in, top=1in, bottom=1in} \listfiles \begin{document} <<label=start, echo=FALSE, include=FALSE>>= startt<-proc.time()[3] library(RODBC) library(psych) library(xtable) library(plyr) library(ggplot2) options(width=80) #Produce some example data, here I'm creating some dummy dataframes and putting them in a list foo<-list() foo[[1]]<-data.frame(GRP=c(rep("AA",10), rep("Aa",10), rep("aa",10)), X1=rnorm(30), X2=rnorm(30,5,2)) foo[[2]]<-data.frame(GRP=c(rep("BB",10), rep("bB",10), rep("BB",10)), X1=rnorm(30), X2=rnorm(30,5,2)) foo[[3]]<-data.frame(GRP=c(rep("CC",12), rep("cc",18)), X1=rnorm(30), X2=rnorm(30,5,2)) foo[[4]]<-data.frame(GRP=c(rep("DD",10), rep("Dd",10), rep("dd",10)), X1=rnorm(30), X2=rnorm(30,5,2)) @ \title{Docuemnt to test putting a variable number of tables into a sweave Document} \author{"Paul Hurley"} \maketitle \section{Text} This document was created on \today, with \Sexpr{print(version$version.string)} running on a \Sexpr{print(version$platform)} platform. It took approx \input{time} sec to process. <<label=test, echo=FALSE, results=tex>>= cat("Foo") @ that was a test, so is this <<label=table1test, echo=FALSE, results=tex>>= print(xtable(foo[[1]])) @ \newpage \subsection{Tables} <<label=Tables, echo=FALSE, results=tex>>= for(i in seq(foo)){ cat("\n") cat(paste("Table_",i,sep="")) cat("\n") print(xtable(foo[[i]])) cat("\n") } #cat("<<label=endofTables>>= ") @ <<label=bye, include=FALSE, echo=FALSE>>= endt<-proc.time()[3] elapsedtime<-as.numeric(endt-startt) @ <<label=elapsed, include=FALSE, echo=FALSE>>= fileConn<-file("time.tex", "wt") writeLines(as.character(elapsedtime), fileConn) close(fileConn) @ \end{document} Here, the table1test chunk works as expected, and produced a table based on the dataframe in foo[[1]], however the loop only produces Table(underscore)1.... Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ?

  • MonoDevelop: Addin generation issues

    - by calmcajun
    I am having problems creating the root.mrep file for a updated MonoDevelop Addin. The Addin was originally built for MonoDevelop 2.2. I am able to build the updated project but when I use mdrun.exe setup rep-build to generate the .mrep files(main and root) it only generates the main.mrep file and not the root.mrep file. Is there a new way of building the addin that I am missing? I used both setup pack and then setup rep-build. I have listed a snippet of the addin.xml file below: <Addin id = "Addin" namespace = "MonoDevelop" name = "Monobjc development" author = "Rob L" copyright = "" description = "Addin" category = "Mac Development" version = "1.0"> <Runtime> <Import assembly="MonoDevelop.Sample.dll" /> <Import assembly="MonoDevelop.MacDev.dll" /> <Import assembly="Sample.Tools.dll" /> </Runtime> <Dependencies> <Addin id="Core" version="2.4" /> <Addin id="Core.Gui" version="2.4" /> <Addin id="Projects" version="2.4" /> <Addin id="Projects.Gui" version="2.4" /> <Addin id="Ide" version="2.4" /> </Dependencies> <MoreStuffHere /> </Addin>

  • Modify coverflow component ,add backview ?

    - by hib
Hi all , I am developing an iPhone application in which I needs to implement a Coverflow component. I got a good library from here It is working nicely . Now I want to show a different back view with 6 buttons when a user double taps on the image in the coverflow . For that the tapkulibrary author has implemented a delegate method called which is : - (void) coverflowView:(TKCoverflowView*)coverflowView coverAtIndexWasDoubleTapped:(int)index{ TKCoverView *cover = [coverflowView coverAtIndex:index]; //if(cover == nil) return; // [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; // [UIView setAnimationDuration:1]; // [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:cover cache:YES]; // [UIView commitAnimations]; *********************MY BACK View ******************************* UIView *c; NSArray *array = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"TestMine" owner:nil options:nil]; c = [array objectAtIndex:0]; [cover addSubview:c]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:cover cache:YES]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1.2, 1.2); cover.transform = transform; [UIView commitAnimations]; NSLog(@"Index: %d",index); } I am not much aware about the drawing code used in this example my back view is not working perfectly . So can anyone modify me this method or code to push my back view when double tapping the image and again double tapping shows the real image again . I need help .

  • What are the best open-source software non-profits for making financial contributions and/or facilitating useful work?

    - by Jason S
I'm not a great programmer myself (my main job is more electrical engineering) and have never really helped out with any open source projects, but I've benefited greatly from free and/or open-source software (MySQL, OpenOffice, Firefox, Apache, PHP, Java, etc.) and at some point would like to make some modest financial contributions to help keep this stuff going. I'm wondering, what are the best non-profits to make financial contributions? I'm aware of: Open Source Initiative (founded 10 years ago by several prominent figures including programmer and "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" author Eric S. Raymond) Free Software Foundation Mozilla Foundation Apache Foundation Anyone have a particular favorite? Ideally I'd like to give money to a non-profit that would foster some of the smaller but promising open-source and/or free software projects. The big projects like Firefox and Apache are already well-established. There are a few small individual shareware programs I've already paid for directly. But it's those middle-ground projects that I would really like my contributions to support. (one that comes to mind is a good GUI for Subversion or Mercurial.) It's one thing for a single person to donate a little $$ to a small project. It's another for a foundation or something to give larger grants to projects that give a good bang for the buck. Conservation organizations like The Nature Conservancy, or the Trust for Public Lands, have really honed this approach, but I'm not really sure if there's an equivalent model in software-land.

  • Class Structure w/ LINQ, Partial Classes, and Abstract Classes

    - by Jason
I am following the Nerd Dinner tutorial as I'm learning ASP.NET MVC, and I am currently on Step 3: Building the Model. One part of this section discusses how to integrate validation and business rule logic with the model classes. All this makes perfect sense. However, in the case of this source code, the author only validates one class: Dinner. What I am wondering is, say I have multiple classes that need validation (Dinner, Guest, etc). It doesn't seem smart to me to repeatedly write these two methods in the partial class: public bool IsValid { get { return (GetRuleViolations().Count() == 0); } } partial void OnValidate(ChangeAction action) { if (!IsValid) { throw new ApplicationException("Rule violations prevent saving."); } } What I'm wondering is, can you create an abstract class (because "GetRuleViolations" needs to be implemented separately) and extend a partial class? I'm thinking something like this (based on his example): public partial class Dinner : Validation { public IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations() { yield break; } } This doesn't "feel" right, but I wanted to check with SO to get opinions of individuals smarter than me on this. I also tested it out, and it seems that the partial keyword on the OnValidate method is causing problems (understandably so). This doesn't seem possible to fix (but I could very well be wrong). Thanks!

  • Sharepoint survey: How to identify the question fields when fetching survey information from the Lis

    - by paul
I am wanting to access survey information via the Lists web service and display the questions contained in the survey. The result contains a large number of Field nodes some of which are the questions in the survey. The other fields contain other information such as author, last changed etc. How can I pick out the questions? I had thought that all non-questions would be hidden but this is not the case. Here is my code as it is at the moment. It returns about 16 items. The survey has 6 questions... // read question definitions string[] HandleTypes = new string[] { "Number", "DateTime", "Text", "Choice", "GridChoice", "Boolean" }; var query = from n in node.Descendants(ns+"Field") where (n.Attribute("Hidden") == null || n.Attribute("Hidden").Value.ToLower() == "true") && (n.Attribute("Type") != null && HandleTypes.Contains(n.Attribute("Type").Value)) select new Question(n.Attribute("ID").Value) { Text = n.Attribute("DisplayName").Value, QuestionType = n.Attribute("Type").Value, Element = n }; Ideas anyone?

  • UTF-8 BOM signature in PHP files

    - by skidding
I was writing some commented PHP classes and I stumbled upon a problem. My name (for the @author tag) ends up with a ? (which is a UTF-8 character, ...and a strange name, I know). Even though I save the file as UTF-8, some friends reported that they see that character totally messed up (È™). This problem goes away by adding the BOM signature. But that thing troubles me a bit, since I don't know that much about it, except from what I saw on Wikipedia and on some other similar questions here on SO. I know that it adds some things at the beginning of the file, and from what I understood it's not that bad, but I'm concerned because the only problematic scenarios I read about involved PHP files. And since I'm writing PHP classes to share them, being 100% compatible is more important than having my name in the comments. But I'm trying to understand the implications, should I use it without worrying? or are there cases when it might cause damage? When? Thanks!

  • WCF: WTF! Does WCF raise the bar or just the complexity level?

    - by rp
I understand the value of the three-part service/host/client model offered by WCF. But is it just me or does it seem like WCF took something pretty direct and straightforward (the ASMX model) and made a mess out of it? Is there an alternative to using SvcUtil's command line step back in time to generate the proxy? With ASMX services a test harness was automatically provided; is there a good alternative today with WCF? I appreciate that the WS* stuff is more tightly integrated with WCF and hope to find some payoff for WCF there, but geeze, otherwise I'm perplexed. Also, the state of books available for WCF is abysmal at best. Juval Lowy, a superb author, has written a good O'Reilly reference book "Programming WCF Services" but it doesn't do that much (for me anyway) for learning now to use WCF. That book's precursor (and a little better organized, but not much, as a tutorial) is Michele Leroux Bustamante's Learning WCF. It has good spots but is outdated in place and its corresponding Web site is gone. Do you have good WCF learning references besides just continuing to Google the bejebus out of things? Thanks, rp

  • codingBat separateThousands using regex (and unit testing how-to)

    - by polygenelubricants
This question is a combination of regex practice and unit testing practice. Regex part I authored this problem separateThousands for personal practice: Given a number as a string, introduce commas to separate thousands. The number may contain an optional minus sign, and an optional decimal part. There will not be any superfluous leading zeroes. Here's my solution: String separateThousands(String s) { return s.replaceAll( String.format("(?:%s)|(?:%s)", "(?<=\\G\\d{3})(?=\\d)", "(?<=^-?\\d{1,3})(?=(?:\\d{3})+(?!\\d))" ), "," ); } The way it works is that it classifies two types of commas, the first, and the rest. In the above regex, the rest subpattern actually appears before the first. A match will always be zero-length, which will be replaceAll with ",". The rest basically looks behind to see if there was a match followed by 3 digits, and looks ahead to see if there's a digit. It's some sort of a chain reaction mechanism triggered by the previous match. The first basically looks behind for ^ anchor, followed by an optional minus sign, and between 1 to 3 digits. The rest of the string from that point must match triplets of digits, followed by a nondigit (which could either be $ or \.). My question for this part is: Can this regex be simplified? Can it be optimized further? Ordering rest before first is deliberate, since first is only needed once No capturing group Unit testing part As I've mentioned, I'm the author of this problem, so I'm also the one responsible for coming up with testcases for them. Here they are: INPUT, OUTPUT "1000", "1,000" "-12345", "-12,345" "-1234567890.1234567890", "-1,234,567,890.1234567890" "123.456", "123.456" ".666666", ".666666" "0", "0" "123456789", "123,456,789" "1234.5678", "1,234.5678" "-55555.55555", "-55,555.55555" "0.123456789", "0.123456789" "123456.789", "123,456.789" I haven't had much experience with industrial-strength unit testing, so I'm wondering if others can comment whether this is a good coverage, whether I've missed anything important, etc (I can always add more tests if there's a scenario I've missed).

  • Visual C++ Assembly link library troubles

    - by Sanarothe
Hi. I'm having a problem having my projects built in VC++ Express 2008... I'm using a library, irvine32.inc/lib. INCLUDE Irvine32.inc works for me at school (On already configured VS environments) by default, but at home (Windows 7 x64) I'm having a boatload of issues. My original post here was that a file that irvine32.inc referenced, in the same folder, 'could not be opened.' Added irvine folder to the include path for specific project, progress. Then I was getting an error with mt.exe, but a suggestion on the MSDN suggested turn off antivirus, and now project does build but when I run a program that does NOT reference anything in irvine32, it tells me repeatedly that my project has triggered a breakpoint, and allows me to continue or break. Continue just pops the same window, break loads another popup telling me that "No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. Source code cannot be displayed." This popup lets me view the disassembly. I tested it with and without working statements, it just throws the same breakpoint on the first line of code. Now, if I run the program when it DOES require something from the include file, in this case, DumpRegs: INCLUDE Irvine32.inc .data .code main PROC mov ebx,1000h mov eax,1000h add eax,ebx call DumpRegs main ENDP END main This gives me 1main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _DumpRegs@0 referenced in function _main@0 1C:\Users\Cameron\csis165\Lab8_CCarroll\Debug\Lab8_CCarroll.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals This does NOT happen when I build a project from the book author's examples, which has the same include statement. I'm baffled. :(

  • Automate the signature of the update.rdf manifest for my firefox extension

    - by streetpc
Hello, I'm developing a firefox extension and I'd like to provide automatic update to my beta-testers (who are not tech-savvy). Unfortunately, the update server doesn't provide HTTPS. According to the Extension Developer Guide on signing updates, I have to sign my update.rdf and provide an encoded public key in the install.rdf. There is the McCoy tool to do all of this, but it is an interactive GUI tool and I'd like to automate the extension packaging using an Ant script (as this is part of a much bigger process). I can't find a more precise description of what's happening to sign the update.rdf manifest than below, and McCoy source is an awful lot of javascript. The doc says: The add-on author creates a public/private RSA cryptographic key pair. The public part of the key is DER encoded and then base 64 encoded and added to the add-on's install.rdf as an updateKey entry. (...) Roughly speaking the update information is converted to a string, then hashed using a sha512 hashing algorithm and this hash is signed using the private key. The resultant data is DER encoded then base 64 encoded for inclusion in the update.rdf as an signature entry. I don't know well about DER encoding, but it seems like it needs some parameters. So would anyone know either the full algortihm to sign the update.rdf and install.rdf using a predefined keypair, or a scriptable alternative to McCoy whether a command-line tool like asn1coding will suffise a good/simple developer tutorial on DER encoding

  • PHP/SQL/Wordpress: Group a user list by alphabet

    - by rayne
I want to create a (fairly big) Wordpress user index with the users categorized alphabetically, like this: A Amy Adam B Bernard Bianca and so on. I've created a custom Wordpress query which works fine for this, except for one problem: It also displays "empty" letters, letters where there aren't any users whose name begins with that letter. I'd be glad if you could help me fix this code so that it only displays the letter if there's actually a user with a name of that letter :) I've tried my luck by checking how many results there are for that letter, but somehow that's not working. (FYI, I use the user photo plugin and only want to show users in the list who have an approved picture, hence the stuff in the SQL query). <?php $alphabet = range('A', 'Z'); foreach ($alphabet as $letter) { $user_count = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM wp_users WHERE display_name LIKE '".$letter."%' ORDER BY display_name ASC"); if ($user_count > 0) { $user_row = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT wp_users.user_login, wp_users.display_name FROM wp_users, wp_usermeta WHERE wp_users.display_name LIKE '".$letter."%' AND wp_usermeta.meta_key = 'userphoto_approvalstatus' AND wp_usermeta.meta_value = '2' AND wp_usermeta.user_id = wp_users.ID ORDER BY wp_users.display_name ASC"); echo '<li class="letter">'.$letter.''; echo '<ul>'; foreach ($user_row as $user) { echo '<li><a href="/author/'.$user->user_login.'">'.$user->display_name.'</a></li>'; } echo '</ul></li>'; } } ?> Thanks in advance!

  • Automatically stashing

    - by Readonly
The section Last links in the chain: Stashing and the reflog in http://ftp.newartisans.com/pub/git.from.bottom.up.pdf recommends stashing often to take snapshots of your work in progress. The author goes as far as recommending that you can use a cron job to stash your work regularly, without having to do a stash manually. The beauty of stash is that it lets you apply unobtrusive version control to your working process itself: namely, the various stages of your working tree from day to day. You can even use stash on a regular basis if you like, with something like the following snapshot script: $ cat <<EOF > /usr/local/bin/git-snapshot #!/bin/sh git stash && git stash apply EOF $ chmod +x $_ $ git snapshot There’s no reason you couldn’t run this from a cron job every hour, along with running the reflog expire command every week or month. The problem with this approach is: If there are no changes to your working copy, the "git stash apply" will cause your last stash to be applied over your working copy. There could be race conditions between when the cron job executes and the user working on the working copy. For example, "git stash" runs, then the user opens the file, then the script's "git stash apply" is executed. Does anybody have suggestions for making this automatic stashing work more reliably?
