    The selector expression for LoadProperty must be a MemberAccess for the property. I'm converting some C# to VB, this is the C# line: entities.LoadProperty((MyType)MyTargetObject, c => c.MyProperty); I convert it to VB like so: entities.LoadProperty(DirectCast(MyTargetObject, MyType), Function(c) c.MyProperty) However I get the error above. I don't understand what the code is doing, or anything at all, I am simply converting it line by line into Visual Basic. When I run the project, the error I get is the one above. All I can see is that Entities is a class that inherits ObjectContext, which might mean something. Any help would be soooo good because I am stressing out big time. Thanks.

    In a WinForms (3.5) application there is form with a monthCalendar control. The calendar control has a calendarDimension of 3 columns by 1 row. This means that it currently shows June, July, August of 2010. Is it possible to have the calendar to show April, May, June of 2010 instead? My dataset doesn't have any future dates so the date selection will be for current or older dates.

    I have read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms149953.aspx and need to verify what is my GetLocalResourceObject virtual path. My local resource files are located on my pc at: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\GlobalX\Input\App_LocalResources Within this folder are my resource files for all the languages that site handles (InputContactDetails.aspx.ro.resx, InputContactDetails.aspx.hi.resx, etc.), as well as the default resource file (InputContactDetails.aspx.resx). I am receiving an error when I attempt to implement the virtual path string.     Hi, I've created a html helper that adds a css class property to a li item if the user is on the current page.   • Splitting assemblies - finding the balance (avoiding overkill)

    I'm writing a wide component infrastructure, to be used in my projects. Since not all projects will require every component created, I've been thinking of splitting the component into discrete assemblies, so that every application developed will only be deployed with the required assemblies. I assume that creating an assembly has some storage overhead (the assembly's code, wrapping whatever is inside). Therefore, there must be some limit to the advantage gained by splitting an assembly - a certain point where splitting the assembly is worse than keeping it united (storage-wise and performance-wise). Now, here is the question: how do I know when splitting an assembly is an overkill? P.S I guess there are other overheads to assembly splitting, aside from the storage overhead. If anyone can point out these overheads, it would be much appreciated.

  • StackOverFlowException - but oviously NO recursion/endless loop

    Hi there, I'm now blocked by this problem the entire day, read thousands of google results, but nothing seems to reflect my problem or even come near to it... i hope any of you has a push into the right direction for me. I wrote a client-server-application (so more like 2 applications) - the client collects data about his system, as well as a screenshot, serializes all this into a XML stream (the picture as a byte[]-array]) and sends this to the server in regular intervals. The server receives the stream (via tcp), deserializes the xml to an information-object and shows the information on a windows form. This process is running stable for about 20-25 minutes at a submission interval of 3 seconds. When observing the memory usage there's nothing significant to see, also kinda stable. But after these 20-25 mins the server throws a StackOverflowException at the point where it deserializes the tcp-stream, especially when setting the Image property from the byte[]-array.     I'm binding a GridView to an LINQ query. Some of the fields in the objects created by the LINQ statement are strings, and need to contain new lines. Apparently, GridView HTML-encodes everything in each cell, so I can't insert a <br /> to create a new line within a cell. How do I tell GridView not to HTML encode the contents of cells? Maybe I should use a different control instead?

  • Windows Service HTTPListener Memory Issue

    Hi all, Im a complete novice to the "best practices" etc of writing in any code. I tend to just write it an if it works, why fix it. Well, this way of working is landing me in some hot water. I am writing a simple windows service to server a single webpage. (This service will be incorperated in to another project which monitors the services and some folders on a group of servers.) My problem is that whenever a request is recieved, the memory usage jumps up by a few K per request and keeps qoing up on every request. Now ive found that by putting GC.Collect in the mix it stops at a certain number but im sure its not meant to be used this way. I was wondering if i am missing something or not doing something i should to free up memory.     I got the Telerik RadRibbonBar for free with the Express edition of vb a while back, but it did not come with any sort of form. It also, unfortunately, has the control buttons there automatically. How would I create a form which is resizable, and works like a standard winform, but doesn't have the top bar? I tried: FormBorderStyle = Sizable Text = Nothing ControlBox = False Unfortunately, when you maximize the window, it goes in front of the taskbar...and it has an ugly border when it isn't maximized. How can I: Change border color? Make it so it does not go in front of the taskbar? Thanks for the help! I'm surprised there is not some sort of form already made for this.

  • HTTP 400 Bad Request error attempting to add web reference to WCF Service

    I have been trying to port a legacy WSE 3 web service to WCF. Since maintaining backwards compatibility with WSE 3 clients is the goal, I've followed the guidance in this article. After much trial and error, I can call the WCF service from my WSE 3 client. However, I am unable to add or update a web reference to this service from Visual Studio 2005 (with WSE 3 installed). The response is "The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request". I get the same error trying to generate the proxy using the wsewsdl3 utility. I can add a Service Reference using VS 2008. Any solutions or troubleshooting suggestions?     Hi I have a DataBound CheckedListBox, I "check" few items on list box(source), then I need to clone it to new Checked List Box(target). It need to have all the data, with checked state. I have tried with following function. It is properly flowing through this function. I'm wondering how do i design the best user interface that the user can localize data for various languages? for instance, in making a page which its title is different in every lang, do i put a textbox for every one? it's not a suitable way to do(in case of 10 lang, the user has 10 textbox!!! too silly) what is your idea about this? Here's the code: var newLink = new Link(); Properties.Settings.Default.Links = new ArrayList(); Properties.Settings.Default.Links.Add(newLink); Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); In my Settings.Designer.cs I specified the field to be an array list: [global::System.Configuration.UserScopedSettingAttribute()] [global::System.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()] public global::System.Collections.ArrayList Links { get { return ((global::System.Collections.ArrayList)(this["Links"])); } set { this["Links"] = value; } } For some reason, it won't save any of the data even though the Link class is serializable and I've tested it.

  • Implementing IPermission

    Hi there, I'm considering writing a custom IPermission implementation but am not clear as to how it should work. I've already implemented IPrincipal and IIdentity. What I would like to accomplish is to be able to check permissions vis a vis the current IPrincipal's authorizations rather than its roles. Generally, authorizations are read/add-delete/update/none for a given type. So I would like to write something like this: [CustomPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Type = typeof(Foo), MinimumAuthorization = AuthorizationFlags.Read)] public void SomeMethod(){} Is this possible? I've looked over the code at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.ipermission.aspx. This shows how to implement the interface, but I don't understand how the above pseudo-code would be able to check against the IPrincipal's authorizations for the type. Any help or resource references would be appreciated. Joni

  • Treeview does not refresh to show childnode moved from one parent node to another

    I am using the Windows Forms TreeView class which contains a set of TreeNodes. The TreeNodes can have child nodes. I have a root node with 2 sub nodes (Node1 and Node2) Node1 has 2 subnodes (child1 and child2) I have a function that will allow a user to select any node and move it to another node: TreeNode SelectNode = this.TreeView1.SelectedNode; TreeNode DestNode = SelectedNewNode(); //function to select a new node SelectedNode.Remove(); DestNode.Nodes.Add(SelectedNode); this.TreeView1.Refresh(); When this executes, the current selected node (child2) is removed from its current parent (Node1) and added to Node2. However, the Refresh() method of the TreeView control does not show that child2 is under Node2. If I debug it and look at the Nodes collection in the TreeView i do see that child2 is under Node2. Can anyone tell me why the Refresh() method does not redraw the new parent to child mapping? Is there a way to tell the TreeView to redraw with the new mappings?
