Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm just getting started with win32 API programming in C++ and I'm having trouble compiling the winnie tutorial (http://www.relisoft.com/win32/winnie.html) with MinGW. My input and output: C:\Users\Eric\Projects g++ winnie.cpp -o winnie.exe /mingw/lib/libmingw32.a(main.o):main.c:(.text+0xd2): undefined reference to 'WinMain@16' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • gcc precompiled headers weird behaviour with -c option

    - by pachanga
Folks, I'm using gcc-4.4.1 on Linux and before trying precompiled headers in a really large project I decided to test them on simple program. They "kinda work" but I'm not happy with results and I'm sure there is something wrong about my setup. First of all, I wrote a simple program(main.cpp) to test if they work at all: #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <boost/function.hpp> #include <boost/type_traits.hpp> int main() { return 0; } Then I created the precompiled headers file pre.h(in the same directory) as follows: #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <boost/function.hpp> #include <boost/type_traits.hpp> ...and compiled it: $ g++ -I. pre.h (pre.h.gch was created) After that I measured compile time with and without precompiled headers: with pch $ time g++ -I. -include pre.h main.cpp real 0m0.128s user 0m0.088s sys 0m0.048s without pch $ time g++ -I. main.cpp real 0m0.838s user 0m0.784s sys 0m0.056s So far so good! Almost 7 times faster, that's impressive! Now let's try something more realistic. All my sources are built with -c option and for some reason I can't make pch play nicely with it. You can reproduce this with the following steps below... I created the test module foo.cpp as follows: #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <boost/function.hpp> #include <boost/type_traits.hpp> int whatever() { return 0; } Here are the timings of my attempts to build the module foo.cpp with and without pch: with pch $ time g++ -I. -include pre.h -c foo.cpp real 0m0.357s user 0m0.348s sys 0m0.012s without pch $ time g++ -I. -c foo.cpp real 0m0.330s user 0m0.292s sys 0m0.044s That's quite strange, looks like there is no speed up at all!(I ran timings for several times). It turned out precompiled headers were not used at all in this case, I checked it with -H option(output of "g++ -I. -include pre.h -c foo.cpp -H" didn't list pre.h.gch at all). What am I doing wrong?

  • Howcan I get started with Spring Batch?

    - by C. Ross
I'm trying to learn Spring Batch, but the startup guide is very confusing. Comments like You can get a pretty good idea about how to set up a job by examining the unit tests in the org.springframework.batch.sample package (in src/main/java) and the configuration in src/main/resources/jobs. aren't exactly helpful. Also I find the Sample project very complicated (17 non-empty Namespaces with 109 classes)! Is there a simpler place to get started with Spring Batch?

  • collect2: ld returned 1 exit status error in Xcode

    - by user573949
Hello, Im getting the error Command /Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 and when the full log is opened, the error is more accurately listed as: collect2: ld returned 1 exit status from this simple Cocoa script: #import "Controller.h" @implementation Controller int skillcheck (int level, int modifer, int difficulty) { if (level + modifer >= difficulty) { return 1; } if (level + modifer <= difficulty) { return 0; } } int main () { skillcheck(10, 2, 10); } @end the .h file is this: // // Controller.h // // Created by Duo Oratar on 15/01/2011. // Copyright 2011 __MyCompanyName__. All rights reserved. // #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface Controller : NSObject { int skillcheck; int contestcheck; } @end and no line was specified that the error came from, does anyone know what the source of this error is, and more importantly, how to fix it? EDIT: I removed the class so now I have this: // // Controller.m // // Created by Duo Oratar on 15/01/2011. // Copyright 2011 __MyCompanyName__. • IE6 "frame" layout with 100% height and scrollbars

    - by Joe
I want to achieve a simple "frame" layout with fixed header, fixed left navigation area, and a main content area that fills 100% of the remainder of the viewport with scrollbars if necessary. My best attempt is below - but when I add enough content to the main div to force scrolling, I see that the scrollbar extends below the bottom of the viewport. What am I doing wrong? Or what is IE6 doing wrong and how can I fix it? NB please don't recommend using a more recent browser - I'd love to but can't.

Title

LeftNav

Content
Lorem ipsum ...
... repeated several times ...

  • Getting Response.End() behavior in JSP

    - by Sam Ingrassia
Thanks to everyone in advance - I am aware of closing the jspwriter/outputstream and returning as a method to stop further execution in the main context. Has anyone found a way to stop execution outside of the main context? From my understanding of how jsp is 'compiled' etc I do not think this is possible, but I thought I should see if anyone has any clever solutions - Thanks, Sam

  • App starts in 1.5 emulator but doesn't in 1.6

    - by DixieFlatline
My app works on 1.5 emulator and 1.5 device. When i try to start it on 1.6 emulator, it produces strange exceptions (doesn't even start). I don't have any 1.6 device to try this app if it works on a real device. I get some warnings in Eclipse ( warning: Ignoring InnerClasses attribute for an anonymous inner class that doesn't come with an associated EnclosingMethod attribute. This class was probably produced by a broken compiler.) and get cant rid of them (i think they come from some apache jars that i need to make http multipart posts). Is it possible that this jars are cause for my exceptions in 1.6 or is it something else? • JFace ApplicationWindow: createContents isn't working

    - by jasonh
I'm attempting to create a window that is divided into three parts. A non-resizable header and footer and then a content area that expands to fill the remaining area in the window. To get started, I created the following class: public class MyWindow extends ApplicationWindow { Color white; Font mainFont; Font headerFont; public MyWindow() { super(null); } protected Control createContents(Composite parent) { Display currentDisplay = Display.getCurrent(); white = new Color(currentDisplay, 255, 255, 255); mainFont = new Font(currentDisplay, "Tahoma", 8, 0); headerFont = new Font(currentDisplay, "Tahoma", 16, 0); // Main layout Composites and overall FillLayout Composite container = new Composite(parent, SWT.NO_RADIO_GROUP); Composite header = new Composite(container, SWT.NO_RADIO_GROUP); Composite mainContents = new Composite(container, SWT.NO_RADIO_GROUP);; Composite footer = new Composite(container, SWT.NO_RADIO_GROUP);; FillLayout containerLayout = new FillLayout(SWT.VERTICAL); container.setLayout(containerLayout); // Header Label headerLabel = new Label(header, SWT.LEFT); headerLabel.setText("Header"); headerLabel.setFont(headerFont); // Main contents Label contentsLabel = new Label(mainContents, SWT.CENTER); contentsLabel.setText("Main Content Here"); contentsLabel.setFont(mainFont); // Footer Label footerLabel = new Label(footer, SWT.CENTER); footerLabel.setText("Footer Here"); footerLabel.setFont(mainFont); return container; } public void dispose() { cleanUp(); } @Override protected void finalize() throws Throwable { cleanUp(); super.finalize(); } private void cleanUp() { if (headerFont != null) { headerFont.dispose(); } if (mainFont != null) { mainFont.dispose(); } if (white != null) { white.dispose(); } } } And this results in an empty window when I run it like this: public static void main(String[] args) { MyWindow myWindow = new MyWindow(); myWindow.setBlockOnOpen(true); myWindow.open(); Display.getCurrent().dispose(); } What am I doing wrong that I don't see three labels the way I'm trying to display them? The createContents code is definitely being called, I can step through it in Eclipse in debug mode.

  • 'template' .SWF that uses other .swf's and .jpg's in it (by xml generated in .php) works only locall

    - by Andy
My problem is that a .swf I would like to put on my website works only when requested locally. When requested from my home web server or company web server it doesn't work. I believe all files are in the proper folders and all links are well, otherwise it wouldn't work locally. Now, the SWF I place on the html page has several shapes, fonts, texts, buttons, scripts and frames. The scripts are in v1.0 and descrive how the SWF should behave. The SWF uses 2 different JPG's and 3 different SWF's. It also has a .php file with xml in it which tells the main SWF which JPG's and SWF's to use and where to find them. The main script in the main SWF also links to this .php file. So everything works properly when opening the SWF locally in IE like U:\common\templates\dynamic.swf Everythins shows perfectly. When requesting exactly the same file, but with a domain (as I can access the web server folder like a local drive) only the main .swf shows which is black with some test forms etc in it. PHP is enabled on the server. This is my code in the .php I just edited some links to conceal domains and file names: <dynamic_content>

</dynamic_content> So you understand, it's a dynamic SWF that is built up by other pics and swf's. It's easier to change the php and put new files on the server than build a new flash file everytime etc and it's quite difficult to built some functionality in one swf when using other swf files. What could be the problem here that it works well when incurred locally but not from a server (using the domain etc) Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! EDIT: When I open the .swf in firefox by using the direct link to the .swf, the status bars hangs on 'Waiting for www.domain.com... (domain = mydomain) Maybe this is of any help?

  • Symbolizing plugins in Instruments' stack traces

    - by Huperniketes
Instruments is able to properly symbolize my app's main bundle (as well as frameworks and libraries) in the stack trace of the extended detail view. However, symbols aren't resolved for plugins loaded during execution. Setting the build directory where the dSym files for the main and plugin bundles are located (as well as the app itself) in the "File Re-Symbolicate Document" menu item made no discernible difference in the stack trace. What must I do for Instruments to load symbols for the plugins?

  • Connecting client (on VirtualBox) and server (on localhost) using CORBA - org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM:

    - by yak
Im working now on simple gui appllication in Java/C++ and CORBA. I want my client on VirtualBox connect to server on localhost. When I have a simple app, like a calc I wrote about earlier its just fine. But when it comes to run client which needs some args witch javas -cp option, Im getting errors. (Theres no such problem when I have both client and server in localhost!) My errors: WARNING: "IOP00100007: (BAD_PARAM) string_to_object conversion failed due to bad scheme name" org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM: vmcid: OMG minor code: 7 completed: No at com.sun.corba.se.impl.logging.OMGSystemException.soBadSchemeName(Unkn own Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.logging.OMGSystemException.soBadSchemeName(Unkn own Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.INSURLOperationImpl.operate(Unknown So urce) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.ORBInitRefResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.CompositeResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.CompositeResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.orb.ORBImpl.resolve_initial_references(Unknown Source) at ClientConnection.connect(ClientConnection.java:57) at Client.main(Client.java:295) Exception in thread "main" org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM: vmcid: OMG minor code: 7 completed: No at com.sun.corba.se.impl.logging.OMGSystemException.soBadSchemeName(Unkn own Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.logging.OMGSystemException.soBadSchemeName(Unkn own Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.INSURLOperationImpl.operate(Unknown So urce) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.ORBInitRefResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.CompositeResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.resolver.CompositeResolverImpl.resolve(Unknown Source) at com.sun.corba.se.impl.orb.ORBImpl.resolve_initial_references(Unknown Source) at ClientConnection.connect(ClientConnection.java:57) at Client.main(Client.java:295) make[1]: *** [run] Error 1 ClientConnection.java:57 is a line objRef = clientORB.resolve_initial_references("NameService"); Client.java:295 is a line: ClientConnection.connect(args); A connect method is just an ordinary client-connection corba code. Whats wrong? I mean, a simple code works fine but gui version doesnt want to ... is there a problem with -cp option? I cant change my apps' dir tree.

  • Java JFrame EventQueue

    - by asmo
In Java, to create and show a new JFrame, I simply do this: public static void main(String[] args) { new JFrame().setVisible(true); } However, I saw many people doing it like this: public static void main(String[] args) { EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { new JFrame().setVisible(true); } }); } Why? Are there any advantages?
