  • Can I integrate many sources into one RSS reader?

    - by BenAlabaster
I'm looking to integrate a bunch of RSS/ATOM sources into a feed for our intranet. This is outside my usual realm of work so I've had very limited exposure to this. I'd like to integrate all the feeds into a single reader such that all the news items are in chronological release order. Is this doable? Do I need a special component? Or can I make the ASP.NET integrated components do all this simply enough?

  • How to process signals in a Qt subclass?

    - by Jen
How do I process a signal of in a subclass? Let's say my subclass is derived from QTextEdit and is interested in the signal textChanged. It seems silly to connect an object to itself, I should be able to simply override the textChange method -- but it isn't virtual. What is the accepted way to do this?

  • how do i know how many clients are calling my WCF service function

    - by ZhengZhiren
i am writing a program to test WCF service performance in high concurrency circumstance. On client side, i start many threads to call a WCF service function which returns a long list of data object. On server side, in that function called by my client, i need to know the number of clients calling the function. For doing that, i set a counter variable. In the beginning of the function, i add the counter by 1, but how can i decrease it after the funtion has returned the result? int clientCount=0; public DataObject[] GetData() { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); List<DataObject> result = MockDb.GetData(); return result.ToArray(); Interlocked.Decrement(ref clientCount); //can't run to here... } i have seen a way in c++. Create a new class named counter. In the constructor of the counter class, increase the variable. And decrease it in the destructor. In the function, make a counter object so that its constructor will be called. And after the function returns, its destructor will be called. Like this: class counter { public: counter(){++clientCount; /* not simply like this, need to be atomic*/} ~counter(){--clientCount; /* not simply like this, need to be atomic*/} }; ... myfunction() { counter c; //do something return something; } In c# i think i can do so with the following codes, but not for sure. public class Service1 : IService1 { static int clientCount = 0; private class ClientCounter : IDisposable { public ClientCounter() { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); } public void Dispose() { Interlocked.Decrement(ref clientCount); } } public DataObject[] GetData() { using (ClientCounter counter = new ClientCounter()) { List<DataObject> result = MockDb.GetData(); return result.ToArray(); } } } i write a counter class implement the IDisposable interface. And put my function codes into a using block. But it seems that it doesn't work so good. No matter how many threads i start, the clientCount variable is up to 3. Any advise would be appreciated.

  • What tricks do you use to get yourself "in the zone"?

    - by Tim Jarvis
Once I am "in the zone" I am extremely productive and code just flows out of me, often I can get 2 or 3 days coding done in 1 day. But I find that often its hard to get to that place, I find myself procrastinating, getting distracted by other things (SO for example). Is this experience common? How do you force yourself into that state of mind? Is it simply something you can't force?

  • Where is shared_ptr?

    - by Jake
I am so frustrated right now after several hours trying to find where shared_ptr is located. None of the examples I see show complete code to include the headers for shared_ptr (and working). Simply stating "std" "tr1" and "" is not helping at all! I have downloaded boosts and all but still it doesn't show up! Can someone help me by telling exactly where to find it? Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations!

  • Triple Boot?? Windows 7, Windows 7 and Ubuntu??

    - by BillJeansk
Hello, currently I have dual boot with 2 windows 7. (dont ask why, long story, I need them for each with different settings involving Audio Recording) I am very keen to install the new Ubuntu and get into a new OS, out of interest but I don't want to mess with my current 2 windows installations? If I install Ubuntu, will this simply add to my list of OS boot options when you set it, like I did when I install my 2nd Windows 7 Any comments or help would be great? Thanks Bill

  • Spring security @notation for IS_AUTHENTICATED_FULLY?

    - by wuntee
    I am simply trying to allow a user access to a method if they are authenticated, but nothing I am doing seems to work. Is there a way to just check if the user has been authenticated? The following still denies the user even when authenticated... Is there a built in role for an authenticated user? @RequestMapping("/secure") @PreAuthorize("hasRole('IS_AUTHENTICATED_FULLY')") public String secure(ModelMap map){ return("secure"); }

  • Copying a byte buffer with JNI

    - by Daniel
I've found plenty of tutorials / questions on Stackoverflow that deal with copying char arrays from C/JNI side into something like a byte[] in Java, but not the other way around. I am using a native C library which expects a byte array. I simply want to get data from a byte[] in java, into preferably an unsigned char[] in C. Long story short: What is the best way of copying data from a jBytearray in JNI? Is there any way to detect it's size?

  • Problems with character encoding in ASP.NET MVC

    - by George
Hello experts! I'm having a weird issue here. I have a bunch of Views, in which I have characters like this: é, á, ó, etc. In one of my Views, I can fetch data from the database with accents just fine, but in another one I simply get the "weird" characters. What can i be doing wrong? Do I need to configure something in order to this work? Thanks!

  • How to download file into string with progress callback?

    - by Kaminari
I would like to use the WebClient (or there is another better option?) but there is a problem. I understand that opening up the stream takes some time and this can not be avoided. However, reading it takes a strangely much more amount of time compared to read it entirely immediately. Is there a best way to do this? I mean two ways, to string and to file. Progress is my own delegate and it's working good. FIFTH UPDATE: Finally, I managed to do it. In the meantime I checked out some solutions what made me realize that the problem lies elsewhere. I've tested custom WebResponse and WebRequest objects, library libCURL.NET and even Sockets. The difference in time was gzip compression. Compressed stream lenght was simply half the normal stream lenght and thus download time was less than 3 seconds with the browser. I put some code if someone will want to know how i solved this: (some headers are not needed) public static string DownloadString(string URL) { WebClient client = new WebClient(); client.Headers["User-Agent"] = "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.1.249.1045 Safari/532.5"; client.Headers["Accept"] = "application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5"; client.Headers["Accept-Encoding"] = "gzip, deflate, sdch"; client.Headers["Accept-Charset"] = "ISO-8859-2,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.3"; Stream inputStream = client.OpenRead(new Uri(URL)); MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); const int size = 32 * 4096; byte[] buffer = new byte[size]; if (client.ResponseHeaders["Content-Encoding"] == "gzip") { inputStream = new GZipStream(inputStream, CompressionMode.Decompress); } int count = 0; do { count = inputStream.Read(buffer, 0, size); if (count > 0) { memoryStream.Write(buffer, 0, count); } } while (count > 0); string result = Encoding.Default.GetString(memoryStream.ToArray()); memoryStream.Close(); inputStream.Close(); return result; } I think that asyncro functions will be almost the same. But i will simply use another thread to fire this function. I dont need percise progress indication.

  • How to bind a double precision using psycopg2

    - by user337636
I'm trying to bind a float to a postgresql double precision using psycopg2. ele = 1.0/3.0 dic = {'name': 'test', 'ele': ele} sql = '''insert into waypoints (name, elevation) values (%(name)s, %(ele)s)''' cur = db.cursor() cur.execute(sql, dic) db.commit() sql = """select elevation from waypoints where name = 'test'""" cur.execute(sql_out) ele_out = cur.fetchone()[0] ele_out 0.33333333333300003 ele 0.33333333333333331 Obviously I don't need the precision, but I would like to be able to simply compare the values. I could use the struct module and save it as a string, but thought there should be a better way. Thanks

  • How to concatenate all commit messages from subversion into one text file with no metadata?

    - by user144182
I would like to take all the commit messages in my subversion log and just concatenate them into one text file. Each commit message has this format: - r1 message - r1 message - r1 message What I would like is something like: - r1 message - r1 message - r2 message - r2 message - r3 message [...] - r1000 message Update I thought the above was clear, but what I don't want in the log is this type of info: r2130 | user| 2010-03-19 10:36:13 -0400 (Fri, 19 Mar 2010) | 1 line No meta data, I simply want the commit messages.

  • How to make Dropdown menu using :hover on <a> in place of hover on <ul>?

    - by metal-gear-solid
IE 6 only support :Hover on <a> then can we make css drop down using :hover on <a> http://htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/ This example use JavaScript to add hover on LI 'sfhover' class to li elements in the 'nav' id'd ul element when they are 'moused over' and removes it, using a regular expression, when 'moused out'. So now we've got the Suckerfish pumping out new classes, the next step is to simply duplicate the :hover selector with 'sfhover' class selectors:

  • Any way to make dialogs appear/disappear with a transition in MFC?

    - by John
For instance I have a main dialog, when I click a button a smaller dialog appears next to it. But it would be neat if the small one could somehow transition in, rather than simply appear. For instance using transparency, or zooming in, or sliding in from width=0 - full-width. Making an actual dialog do such things isn't too hard, but what about the controls within it? How might we approach this in a way that is reusable on different dialogs?

  • Implementing the server side of Webhooks

    - by Howiecamp
If I want to Webhooks-enable a web application (I'm referring to the server-side of things, ie the server where the event happens and the callback is initiated from), are there libraries for this, or is this functionality typically part of the web server stack? Or, am I looking at this incorrectly, and to implement Webhooks I simply code my application to do an HTTP POST callback based on whatever events I care about?

  • Executing Shell Scripts from the OS X Dock?

    - by Wilco
I'm sure the answer is ridiculously obvious, but so far Google hasn't been very helpful. How do I set up a shell script to execute from the dock? It seems that simply creating a shortcut will open the file in my editor. Is there a flag I need to set somewhere to tell it to run instead of opening it for editing?

Simply return to MyAppName and enter the following PIN to complete the process. 123456 Why is this happening? I have set the callback url in my app's settings. Thanks

  • Twitter API with urllib2 in python

    - by Dirk Nachbar
I want to use the Twitter API in Python to lookup user ids from name using the lookup method. I have done similar requests simply using response = urllib2.urlopen('http://search.twitter.com...') but for this one I need authentication. I don't think I can do it through the Google python twitter API because it doesn't have the lookup method. Any ideas how can I can auth with urllib2??
