  • How to build a GridView like DataBound Templated Custom ASP.NET Server Control

    - by Deyan
I am trying to develop a very simple templated custom server control that resembles GridView. Basically, I want the control to be added in the .aspx page like this: <cc:SimpleGrid ID="SimpleGrid1" runat="server"> <TemplatedColumn>ID: <%# Eval("ID") %></ TemplatedColumn> <TemplatedColumn>Name: <%# Eval("Name") %></ TemplatedColumn> <TemplatedColumn>Age: <%# Eval("Age") %></ TemplatedColumn> </cc:SimpleGrid> and when providing the following datasource: DataTable table = new DataTable(); table.Columns.Add("ID", typeof(int)); table.Columns.Add("Name", typeof(string)); table.Columns.Add("Age", typeof(int)); table.Rows.Add(1, "Bob", 35); table.Rows.Add(2, "Sam", 44); table.Rows.Add(3, "Ann", 26); SimpleGrid1.DataSource = table; SimpleGrid1.DataBind(); the result should be a HTML table like this one. ------------------------------- | ID: 1 | Name: Bob | Age: 35 | ------------------------------- | ID: 2 | Name: Sam | Age: 44 | ------------------------------- | ID: 3 | Name: Ann | Age: 26 | ------------------------------- The main problem is that I cannot define the TemplatedColumn. When I tried to do it like this ... private ITemplate _TemplatedColumn; [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] [TemplateContainer(typeof(TemplatedColumnItem))] [TemplateInstance(TemplateInstance.Multiple)] public ITemplate TemplatedColumn { get { return _TemplatedColumn; } set { _TemplatedColumn = value; } } .. and subsequently instantiate the template in the CreateChildControls I got the following result which is not what I want: ----------- | Age: 35 | ----------- | Age: 44 | ----------- | Age: 26 | ----------- I know that what I want to achieve is pointless and that I can use DataGrid to achieve it, but I am giving this very simple example because if I know how to do this I would be able to develop the control that I need. Thank you.

  • WPF, animate over container boundaries

    - by ImIan
Hi, I'm learning WPF and have a specific goal. Imagine you have a grid (3 rows by 3 columns), and a control, say a simple blue rectangle fills the middle cell. When I click on the cell I want the square to rotate smoothly through 180 degrees. The specific issue I have at the moment is; as the rectangle rotates, it won't change its dimensions, so it will extend beyond the boundary of the cell. I don't want it to clip, i want it to appear on top, partially obscuring surrounding cells. The second part of this is, if there is one cell that fills the entire window, and I click on the blue rectangle in that cell, can I make the rectangle rotate and extend beyond the sides of the form? If that doesn't make sense, please ask. I'm finding it hard to google because I don't know the exact terms I should be using. Thank you

  • Validate Linq2Sql before SubmitChanges()

    - by Nick Gotch
Can anyone tell me if/how you can validate the changes in a data context in Linq2Sql before calling SubmitChanges(). The situation I have is that I create a context, perform multiple operations and add many inserts alongside other processing tasks and then rollback if the submit fails. What I'd prefer to do is make some kind of "Validate()" call after certain tasks are done so that I can handle it before submitting the entire job.

  • How to keep views free of authorization logic in mvc?

    - by David Lay
I have a view to display a list of items. The user can edit, delete or create new items, but according to their authorizations they may or may not be allowed to do some of this actions. I have the requirement to display only the actions which the current user is allowed to do, but I don't want to clutter the views with authorization if-else's Despise of being a very common requirement, I can't find a real satisfactory way of doing it. My best approach so far is to provide an overload to the Html.ActionLink extension method that takes the permission to ask for, but there are going to be more complex scenarios, like hiding entire blocks of html or switching a textbox for a label+hidden. Is there a better way to do this?

  • DDD: Client-side script to enforce invariants

    - by Mosh
Hello, One thing that I'm confused about in regards to DDD is that our domain is supposed to handle all business logic and enforce invariants. I have noticed some people (me included) handle certain invariants in the presentation layer (i.e. WebForms, Views, etc) with javascript. This is mainly done to improve performance so the server is not hit for every request which may be invalid. Even though this approach may be beneficial performance-wise, it violates DDD principles. What if the business rules are changed? This way we don't have a rich domain where all the business rules are captured. In case of a change, we should change the domain as well as the presentation layer. Has anyone come across this situation before? I'd like to know your thoughts on this. Cheers, Mosh

  • Binding ListBox to List (Collection) in XAML

    - by david2tm
Hello, I'm learning WPF, so I'm kind of n00b in this. I saw some examples about how to do what I want to do, but nothing exactly... The question: I want to bind List to ListBox. I want to do it in XAML, w/o coding in code behind. How can I achieve that? Right now I do it that way: <!-- XAML --> <ListBox x:Name="FileList"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Label Content="{Binding Path=.}"/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> // Code behind public MainWindow() { // ... files = new List<string>(); FileList.ItemsSource = files; } private void FolderBrowser_TextChanged(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { string folder = FolderBrowser.Text; files.Clear(); files.AddRange(Directory.GetFiles(folder, "*.txt", SearchOption.AllDirectories)); FileList.Items.Refresh(); } But I want to get rid of FileList.ItemsSource = files; and FileList.Items.Refresh(); in C# code. Thanks

  • Can I copy/clone a function in JavaScript?

    - by Craig Stuntz
I'm using jQuery with the validators plugin. I would like to replace the "required" validator with one of my own. This is easy: jQuery.validator.addMethod("required", function(value, element, param) { return myRequired(value, element, param); }, jQuery.validator.messages.required); So far, so good. This works just fine. But what I really want to do is call my function in some cases, and the default validator for the rest. Unfortunately, this turns out to be recursive: jQuery.validator.addMethod("required", function(value, element, param) { // handle comboboxes with empty guids if (someTest(element)) { return myRequired(value, element, param); } return jQuery.validator.methods.required(value, element, param); }, jQuery.validator.messages.required); I looked at the source code for the validators, and the default implementation of "required" is defined as an anonymous method at jQuery.validator.messages.required. So there is no other (non-anonymous) reference to the function that I can use. Storing a reference to the function externally before calling addMethod and calling the default validator via that reference makes no difference. What I really need to do is to be able to copy the default required validator function by value instead of by reference. But after quite a bit of searching, I can't figure out how to do that. Is it possible? If it's impossible, then I can copy the source for the original function. But that creates a maintenance problem, and I would rather not do that unless there is no "better way."

  • MessageBox if Recordset Update is Successful

    - by Paolo Bernasconi
In Access 2007, I have a form to add a new contact to a table: RecSet.AddNew RecSet![Code_Personal] = Me.txtCodePersonal.Value RecSet![FName] = Me.TxtFName.Value RecSet![LName] = Me.txtLName.Value RecSet![Tel Natel] = Me.txtNatTel.Value RecSet![Tel Home] = Me.txtHomeTel.Value RecSet![Email] = Me.txtEmail.Value RecSet.Update This has worked so far, and the contact has successfully been aded. But I'm having two problems: I want to display a messagebox to tell the user the contact was successfully added If the contact was not successfully added because A contact with this name already exists A different issue Then display a message box "Contact already exists" or "error occured" respectively. My idea of doing this is: If recSet.Update = true Then MsgBox "Paolo Bernasconi was successfully added" Else if RecSet![FName] & RecSet![LName] 'already exist in table MsgBox "Contact already exists" Else MsgBox "An unknown error occured" I know this code is wrong, and obviously doesn't work, but it's just to give you an idea of what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for all your help in advance.

  • How can I handle events within my custom control?

    - by highone
I am not looking to create new events. I need to create a canvas control that optionally fades in or out depending on whether or not the mouse is over it. The code below probably explains what I want to do better than I can. private Storyboard fadeInStoryboard; private Storyboard fadeOutStoryboard; public FadingOptionPanel() { InitializeComponent(); } public static readonly DependencyProperty FadeEnabledProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsFadeEnabled", typeof(bool), typeof(FadingOptionPanel), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(true, OnFadeEnabledPropertyChanged, OnCoerceFadeEnabledProperty)); public bool IsFadeEnabled { get { return (bool)GetValue(FadeEnabledProperty); } set { SetValue(FadeEnabledProperty, value); } } private static void OnFadeEnabledPropertyChanged(DependencyObject source, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { } private static object OnCoerceFadeEnabledProperty(DependencyObject sender, object data) { if (data.GetType() != typeof(bool)) { data = true; } return data; } private void FadingOptionPanel_MouseEnter(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (IsFadeEnabled) { fadeInStoryboard.Begin(this); } } private void FadingOptionPanel_MouseLeave(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (IsFadeEnabled) { fadeOutStoryboard.Begin(this); } } private void FadingOptionsPanel_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { //Initialize Fade In Animation DoubleAnimation fadeInDoubleAnimation = new DoubleAnimation(); fadeInDoubleAnimation. From = 0; fadeInDoubleAnimation. To = 1; fadeInDoubleAnimation.Duration = new Duration(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(.5)); fadeInStoryboard = new Storyboard(); fadeInStoryboard.Children.Add(fadeInDoubleAnimation); Storyboard.SetTargetName(fadeInDoubleAnimation, this.Name); Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(fadeInDoubleAnimation, new PropertyPath(Canvas.OpacityProperty)); //Initialize Fade Out Animation DoubleAnimation fadeOutDoubleAnimation = new DoubleAnimation(); fadeOutDoubleAnimation. From = 1; fadeOutDoubleAnimation. To = 0; fadeOutDoubleAnimation.Duration = new Duration(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(.2)); fadeOutStoryboard = new Storyboard(); fadeOutStoryboard.Children.Add(fadeOutDoubleAnimation); Storyboard.SetTargetName(fadeOutDoubleAnimation, this.Name); Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(fadeOutDoubleAnimation, new PropertyPath(Canvas.OpacityProperty)); } I originally was using this code inside a usercontrol instead of a custom control before I found out that usercontrols don't support content.

  • Android Custom View to Activity communication

    - by Blumer
I have a custom control/view that observes the direction of a gesture within its bounds. I would like to send a different message back to the Activity hosting the View depending on the direction of the gesture. I'm having a hard time determine what the right way to do this is. I would think I could raise a custom event in the control and then stick a listener on the control in the activity, but I cannot find any information on custom events in Android. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Xsd recursion of complexTypes

    - by Hatch
I am just learning XML/XSD and am struggling with the implementation of an XML-schema which models a folder structure. What I had in mind was defining a complexType for the folder which can have additional folder instances that represent subfolders. Using the xsd schema validator here always returns that the schema is invalid. I tried defining the complexType up front and then using the ref keyword for subfolders: <xs:complexType name="tFolder"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="Path" type="tFolderType" msdata:Ordinal="0" /> <xs:element ref="Folder" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xs:element name="File" nillable="true" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:complexType> <xs:simpleContent msdata:ColumnName="File_Text" msdata:Ordinal="0"> <xs:extension base="xs:string"> </xs:extension> </xs:simpleContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="Type" type="tFolderType" /> As for the element itself: <xs:element name="Folder" type="tFolder" /> The error returned by the validator is: "Cannot resolve the name 'Folder' to a(n) 'element declaration' component." and the error occurs at the line <xs:element ref="Folder" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /\> Defining the complexType within the element itself yields the exact same error: <xs:element name="Folder"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="Path" type="tFolderType" msdata:Ordinal="0" /> <xs:element ref="Folder" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xs:element name="File" nillable="true" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:complexType> <xs:simpleContent msdata:ColumnName="File_Text" msdata:Ordinal="0"> <xs:extension base="xs:string"> </xs:extension> </xs:simpleContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="Type" type="tFolderType" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> What I've read, this kind of recursion should work using ref. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? Maybe the xsd validator is just faulty? If so, does anyone know a better alternative? I've tried using the one from w3.org as well, but it seems to be taken offline...

  • Display a boolean model field in a django form as a radio button rather than the default Checkbox.

    - by Lakshman Prasad
This is how I went about, to display a Boolean model field in the form as Radio buttons Yes and No. choices = ( (1,'Yes'), (0,'No'), ) class EmailEditForm(forms.ModelForm): #Display radio buttons instead of checkboxes to_send_form = forms.ChoiceField(choices=choices,widget=forms.RadioSelect) class Meta: model = EmailParticipant fields = ('to_send_email','to_send_form') def clean(self): """ A workaround as the cleaned_data seems to contain u'1' and u'0'. There may be a better way. """ self.cleaned_data['to_send_form'] = int(self.cleaned_data['to_send_form']) return self.cleaned_data As you can see in the code above, I need a clean method that converts input string to an integer, which may be unnecessary. Is there a better and/or djangoic way to do this. If so, how? And no, using BooleanField seems to cause a lot more problems. Using that seemed obvious to me; but it isn't. Why is it so.

  • WPF Browser is there, but invisible.

    - by Adam Crossland
    I am attempting to use the Browser control in a very simple WPF application, and it appears that while the browser is loading the page that I requested (I can mouseover images and see the ALT tags), I can't actually see anything else: Here is the XAML for the app: <Window x:Class="SmokeyBox2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="SmokeyBox" Height="120" Width="510" ShowInTaskbar="False" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" WindowStyle="None" AllowsTransparency="True" MouseLeftButtonDown="Window_MouseLeftButtonDown"> <Border Background="#50FFFFFF" CornerRadius="5" BorderThickness="2,0,2,2" Padding="5 1 5 5"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"></ColumnDefinition> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Label Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Background="Transparent" Content="SmokeyBox" MouseLeftButtonDown="Label_MouseLeftButtonDown" /> <TextBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" Name="searchText" Width="450" FontFamily="Arial" Foreground="DarkGray" Background="Transparent" FontSize="20" MouseLeftButtonDown="searchText_MouseLeftButtonDown" BorderBrush="Transparent" /> <Expander Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" Padding="2 3 0 0 " Expanded="Expander_Expanded" Collapsed="Expander_Collapsed" /> <WebBrowser Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" x:Name="browser" Visibility="Visible" Width="480" Height="480" Margin="2 2 2 2" ></WebBrowser> </Grid> </Border> </Window> So can anyone help me figure out why the browser isn't showing the Yahoo! home page like I asked it to? And while I am at it, I'm going to own up to the fact that this is my first WPF app, and I'd love to hear any general pointers on how to get rid of general noobie badness in my XAML. Thanks.

  • Whats happening to my HTML?

    - by user156814
I am making changes to my website, and I just noticed that things look different. In IE, the content doesnt center, theres a margin on my content, and the font looks bigger in chrome.. I ran it through Yahoo's HTML validator and the error I get is line 1 - Error: character "" not allowed in prolog. I believe that there may be some sort of whitespace being sent before the DOC TYPE, but I cant seem to fix it. The HTML looks fine in my text editor (Notepad++) so I dont know what the problem is. Im using a strict DOC Type. Everything was fine before I made any changes, but I cant pinpoint what caused the change. If it helps, I'm using a Framework (Kohana). My initial thought was that something was being sent to the browser by an echo or something, but I couldnt find any echo statements. I dont know what could be causing this... If you want to see any code or HTML just ask. Thanks. Heres the HTML (only head and doctype) via the page source in Google Chrome There seems to be some foreign characters in the source that I've never seen before, yet dont show up anywhere else (yahoo, or otherwise) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>Recent Debates - Clashing Thoughts</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us" /> <meta name="description" content="Clashing Thoughts is a great place to argue! • Custom Repeater with hiractial Databinding

    - by Dooie
Im using a Custom NestedRepeater Control for ASP.NET which can be found on code project The source is in c# which i have converted to vb and plugged into my solution, so far so good. The problem, im having is databinding to the repeater, my code behind looks like this... '' get all pages Dim navPages As DataSet = Navigation.getMenuStructure() navPages.Relations.Add(navPages.Tables(0).Columns("ID"), navPages.Tables(0).Columns("ParentID")) NestedRepeaterNavigation.RelationName = RelationName NestedRepeaterNavigation.DataSource = navPages NestedRepeaterNavigation.RowFilterTop = "ParentID is null" NestedRepeaterNavigation.DataBind() Then in the item template of my custom repeater im trying the following... <ItemTemplate> <img src="/pix.gif" height="10" width="<%#(Container.Depth * 10)%>"> <%# (Container.DataItem as DataRow)["DESCRIPTION"]%> <%# (Container.NbChildren != 0 ? "<small><i>(" + Container.NbChildren.ToString() +")</i></small>" "") %><small><i></i></small> </ItemTemplate> The databinding falls over; firstly that 'as DataRow' says it was expecting an ')'. And secondly that '!=' identifier expected. Is this due to the translation from c#, should the databinding be different?

  • How to add global exception handling to a add-in dll?

    - by redjackwong
Here's my context: I am writing a WPF add-in for an application. This Application's main thread is unmanaged. I want to add a global exception handling system for this add-in to handle any unhandled exceptions. Here's what I've tried but not working: I cannot add a try-catch block to my Application.Run() code line. Because I am an add-in, that code fragment is in the application. System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadException is not working too. There might not be an WinForm Application exists. (WPF hosting in unmanaged code.) AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException is not working too. Because maybe it's handled by the Application itself. It just doesn't enter my code. So, any ideas for this situation?

  • Unable to verify body hash for DKIM

    - by Joshua
I'm writing a C# DKIM validator and have come across a problem that I cannot solve. Right now I am working on calculating the body hash, as described in Section 3.7 Computing the Message Hashes. I am working with emails that I have dumped using a modified version of EdgeTransportAsyncLogging sample in the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent SDK. Instead of converting the emails when saving, it just opens a file based on the MessageID and dumps the raw data to disk. I am able to successfully compute the body hash of the sample email provided in Section A.2 using the following code: SHA256Managed hasher = new SHA256Managed(); ASCIIEncoding asciiEncoding = new ASCIIEncoding(); string rawFullMessage = File.ReadAllText(@"C:\Repositories\Sample-A.2.txt"); string headerDelimiter = "\r\n\r\n"; int headerEnd = rawFullMessage.IndexOf(headerDelimiter); string header = rawFullMessage.Substring(0, headerEnd); string body = rawFullMessage.Substring(headerEnd + headerDelimiter.Length); byte[] bodyBytes = asciiEncoding.GetBytes(body); byte[] bodyHash = hasher.ComputeHash(bodyBytes); string bodyBase64 = Convert.ToBase64String(bodyHash); string expectedBase64 = "2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8="; Console.WriteLine("Expected hash: {1}{0}Computed hash: {2}{0}Are equal: {3}", Environment.NewLine, expectedBase64, bodyBase64, expectedBase64 == bodyBase64); The output from the above code is: Expected hash: 2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8= Computed hash: 2jUSOH9NhtVGCQWNr9BrIAPreKQjO6Sn7XIkfJVOzv8= Are equal: True Now, most emails come across with the c=relaxed/relaxed setting, which requires you to do some work on the body and header before hashing and verifying. And while I was working on it (failing to get it to work) I finally came across a message with c=simple/simple which means that you process the whole body as is minus any empty CRLF at the end of the body. (Really, the rules for Body Canonicalization are quite ... simple.) Here is the real DKIM email with a signature using the simple algorithm (with only unneeded headers cleaned up). Now, using the above code and updating the expectedBase64 hash I get the following results: Expected hash: VnGg12/s7xH3BraeN5LiiN+I2Ul/db5/jZYYgt4wEIw= Computed hash: ISNNtgnFZxmW6iuey/3Qql5u6nflKPTke4sMXWMxNUw= Are equal: False The expected hash is the value from the bh= field of the DKIM-Signature header. Now, the file used in the second test is a direct raw output from the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent. If so inclined, you can view the modified EdgeTransportLogging.txt. At this point, no matter how I modify the second email, changing the start position or number of CRLF at the end of the file I cannot get the files to match. What worries me is that I have been unable to validate any body hash so far (simple or relaxed) and that it may not be feasible to process DKIM through Exchange 2010.

  • Data validate tools (ETL tools) for SQL server

    - by Stan
I have some data in Excel and need to import into database. Is there any tool that can validate and maybe clean the data? Does Red Gate have such tool? The input will be Excel. Given table constraints, eg. CHECK, UNIQUE KEY, datetime format, NOT NULL. Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format. I know using Python can build such a script. But just wonder what's the popular way to do this. Thanks.
