• How can I resize a swf during runtime to have the browser create html scrollbars?

  I have a swf with loads text into a Sprite that resizes based on the content put into - I'd like though for the ones that are longer than the page to have the browser use its native scroll bars rather than handle it in actionscript (very much like http://www.nike.com/nikeskateboarding/v3/...) I did have a look at the stuff nike did but just wasn't able to pull it off. Any idea's?

  Ref. to my last post and sellibitze's comment to that post on passing array by ref rather than by value, why is it that when I'm passing array by value compiler can deduce arguments but it won't do it if I pass it by value? @Paul So just to make it clear when I'm declaring fnc: void f(int a[]);//I'm passing a pointer but when I'm declaring: void f(int &a[]);//I'm passing a ref? Do I understand this correctly now?

• Textmate RSpec Run Example fails

  When I try to run an RSpec example from within Textmate. I get "Rails requires RubyGems = 1.3.2 (you have 1.3.1). Please gem update --system and try again." I run gem update and I get nothing to update. I think the RSpec bundle is running from the built in directories rather than /local/. How do I change where the bundle looks? Thanks! :)

  I have some command-line commands to execute on a Windows machine. The programs I need to run are only available on Windows. Is there a way to easily to do something like I would do with SSH? Example of what I mean: ssh [email protected] "remote command to execute" ...or do I have to Remote Desktop just to do this? (I'd like to run the commands programmatically from another computer rather than running them by hand.)

• How can one prevent MSBuild from rebuilding the entire project even when all targets are up to date?

  I've got a Visual Studio solution I'd like to build using the commandline. MSBuild is usable for this purpose, and I've done a simple batch file that looks like this: msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=Win32 msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=x64 Unfortunately, that causes my entire solution to be rebuilt each time the command is run, rather than only building what has changed. Am I missing something here?

  Hello, I'm still rather new to iPhone development and I tried something I didn't it was possible. I have a UIView for my TableView Section Header with a switch on it, and I also have a UITableCellView with another Switch on it. It all looks fine, but now I want to propagate the UISwitch state from the section header to all the UISwitches on the section rows. Can anyone enlighten me how can I accomplish this? Thank you.

• UIView shadow drawing wrong

  Trying to draw a shadow using code from this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/805872/how-do-i-draw-a-shadow-under-a-uiview I implement it in a UIView subclass as discussed, but when I try and use it using UIView *shadow = [[ShadowView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(100,100,100,100)]; I get only a black square, rather than something resembling shadow. Am I missing something here?

• DateTimePicker replacement that "respects" e.g. the CurrentUICulture

  Apparently the DateTimePicker does not "respect" or adhere to the CurrentUICulture of a .NET application, because DateTimePicker is a "Native" Common-control with a .NET wrapper (I think). I have a requirement to display "AM/PM" regardless of the regional settings of the PC running my .NET Winforms application. I would rather not re-implement my own DateTimePicker control, which adheres to the CurrentIUCulture. So does anybody know of a work-around or have a link to DateTimePicker control re-implementation?

And the argument still rages. I see Singletons as a Design Pattern (good and bad). The problem with Singleton is not the Pattern but rather the users (sorry everybody). Everybody and their father thinks they can implement one correctly (and from the many interviews I have done, most people can't). Also because everybody thinks they can implement a correct Singleton they abuse the Pattern and use it in situations that are not appropriate (replacing global variables with Singletons!). So the main questions that need to be answered are: When should you use a Singleton How do you implement a Singleton correctly My hope for this article is that we can collect together in a single place (rather than having to google and search multiple sites) an authoritative source of when (and then how) to use a Singleton correctly. Also appropriate would be a list of Anti-Usages and common bad implementations explaining why they fail to work and for good implementations their weaknesses. So get the ball rolling: I will hold my hand up and say this is what I use but probably has problems. • Colorbox not working in IE

  on This page in the center is a button that says "request price". I am using Colorbox so that when you click it, there is a lightbox-type popup of a Flash app. This works fine in FF and Chrome. However in IE it is just taking you directly to the page containing the flash rather then making it a popup. Does anyone have a clue why?

• QTableWidget: How can I get tighter lines with less vertical spacing padding?

  The QTableWdiget is fabulous for simple grid displays. Changing colors, fonts, etc is straightforward. However, I did not manage to give the grid a 'tighter' look with less vertical whitespace. I see that the Qt documentation talks (eg here) about margin border padding around widgets, but when I set these I only get changes around the entire grid widget rather than inside. How can I set this (with a style sheet, or hard-coded options) directly to make the QTableWidget display tighter?

Is not it the same as with OOP and relational databases? Often services are supported through code generation, apart from boilerplate, I think it is because we new SOM - service object mapper. So again, what are the reasons for wervices rather than objects?

Also what’s TModel that’s associated with viewdata? How does one utilize TModel? The viewdata explanation in spark view engine talks about TModel and I couldn’t get a clue of how I can use it in my projects. Can someone help me?
