  • [C] Signed Hexadecimal string to long int function

    - by Ben
    I am trying to convert a 24bit Hexadecimal string (6 characters) signed in two's complement to a long int in C. This is the function I have come up with: long int hex2li (char string[]) { char *pEnd; long int result = strtol (string, &pEnd, 16); if (strcmp (pEnd, "") == 0) { if (toupper (string[0]) == 'F') { return result - 16777216; } else { return result; } } return LONG_MIN; } Is it valid? Is there a better way of doing this?

  • regular expression for string in c

    - by darkie15
    Hi All, I am working writing a regular expression used to validate string in C. Here is to what I have gone so far '^"[A-Za-z0-9]*[\t\n]*"$' for rules - A string should begin with double quotes - May not contain a newline character However, I am not able to capture the rule for allowing '\' or '"' in a string if preceded with '\'. Here is what I tried: '^"[A-Za-z0-9]*[\t\n]*[\\\|\\"]?"$' But this doesn't seem to work. What might be wrong with the regular expression here? Regards, darkie15

  • C Check Substring of a String C

    - by user69514
    I'm trying to check whether or not the second argument in my program is a substring of the first argument. The problem is that it only work if the substring starts with the same letter of the string. EDIT: It must be done in C, not C++. Sorry #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> int my_strstr( char const *s, char const *sub ) { char const *ret = sub; while ( ret = strchr( ret, *sub ) ) { if ( strcmp( ++ret, sub+1 ) == 0 ) return 1; } return 0; } int main(int argc, char **argv){ if (argc != 3) { printf ("Usage: check <string one> <string two>\n"); } int result = my_strstr(argv[1], argv[2]); if(result == 1){ printf("%s is a substring of %s\n", argv[2], argv[1]); } else{ printf("%s is not a substring of %s\n", argv[2], argv[1]); } return 0; }

  • MySQL app with Cassandra in mind

    - by SODA
    I am planning to make a web app which will eventually use Cassandra. But now that I don't have it and don't have server(s) to run it from, I'd like to start by using MySQL. The question is, is it possible to structure data and queries in such a way that it would be fairly easy to later port it to Cassandra? Main idea, I guess, would be writing MySQL queries that would be possible to change to same Cassandra queries. Maybe you have a better suggestion?

  • MySQL: automatic rollback on transaction failure

    - by praksant
    Is there any way to set MySQL to rollback any transaction on first error/warning automatically? Now if everything goes well, it commits, but on failure it leaves transaction open and on another start of transaction it commits incomplete changes from failed transaction. (I'm executing queries from php, but i don't want to check in php for failure, as it would make more calls between mysql server and webserver.) Thank you

  • implement string class with custom behavior

    - by truman
    In one of our class sir said that template allows one to customize behavior of class, and then he gave example of string class, that with few lines of code we can customize string class from STL, as in, we can make it to treat 'a' and 'z' same, 'b' and 'y' same, 'c' and 'x' same and so on. Similary 'A' and 'Z' same etc. "abc" == "zyx" is true; "Abc" == "zyx" is false; "Abc == "Zyx" is true; etc I was thinking of implementing such string class, but I am not able to do so. How can we implement such string class using templates?

  • Creating SVG map from geometry stored in MySQL

    - by Barnabe
    I have a group of geometries stored in MySQl (as polygon and as well-known text) representing counties. I can build a table of geometries and color codes after querying some county data (say GDP per capita). What is the best way to export this as an SVG map? I cannot find any reference to SVG conversion in the MySQL documentation.

  • Finding ALL positions of a substring in a large string in C#

    - by Tommy
    Alright, so what i have, is a large string i need to parse, and what i need to happen, is find all the instances of extract"(me,i-have lots. of]punctuation, and store them to a list. So say this piece of string was in the beginning and middle of the larger string, both of them would be found, and their index's would be added to the List. and the List would contain 0 and the other index whatever it would be. Ive been playing around, and the string.IndexOf does almost what i'm looking for, and ive written some code. But i cant seem to get it to work: List<int> inst = new List<int>(); int index = 0; while (index < source.LastIndexOf("extract\"(me,i-have lots. of]punctuation", 0) + 39) { int src = source.IndexOf("extract\"(me,i-have lots. of]punctuation", index); inst.Add(src); index = src + 40; } inst = The list source = The large string Any better ideas?

  • How to strip specific contents of a String in Java

    - by user2974877
    So I have a string, and I want to strip out some parts of it using, for example, the firt and last characters of the "interesting" part. String dirty = "$!$!%!%$something interesting&!!$!%$something interesting2"; And the output something like: String clean = "something interesting:something interesting2"; Note: The code needs to work without knowing the random part, changing everytime the program runs. I researched and only found code that does it, but only knowing the random segment.

  • String literal recognition problem

    - by helicera
    Hello! I'm trying to recognize string literal by reading string per symbol. Here is a sample code: #region [String Literal (")] case '"': // {string literal ""} { // skipping '"' ChCurrent = Line.ElementAtOrDefault<Char>(++ChPosition); while(ChCurrent != '"') { Value.Append(ChCurrent); ChCurrent = Line.ElementAtOrDefault<Char>(++ChPosition); if(ChCurrent == '"') { // "" sequence only acceptable if(Line.ElementAtOrDefault<Char>(ChPosition + 1) == '"') { Value.Append(ChCurrent); // skip 2nd double quote ChPosition++; // move position next ChCurrent = Line.ElementAtOrDefault<Char>(++ChPosition); } } else if(default(Char) == ChCurrent) { // message: unterminated string throw new ScanningException(); } } ChPosition++; break; } #endregion When I run test: [Test] [ExpectedException(typeof(ScanningException))] public void ScanDoubleQuotedStrings() { this.Scanner.Run(@"""Hello Language Design""", default(System.Int32)); this.Scanner.Run(@"""Is there any problems with the """"strings""""?""", default(System.Int32)); this.Scanner.Run(@"""v#:';?325;.<>,|+_)""(*&^%$#@![]{}\|-_=""", default(System.Int32)); while(0 != this.Scanner.TokensCount - 1) { Assert.AreEqual(Token.TokenClass.StringLiteral, this.Scanner.NextToken.Class); } } It passes with success.. while I'm expecting to have an exception according to unmatched " mark in this.Scanner.Run(@"""v#:';?325;.<>,|+_)""(*&^%$#@![]{}\|-_=""", default(System.Int32)); Can anyone explain where is my mistake or give an advice on algorithm.

  • Converting an empty string into nil in Ruby

    - by adi92
    I have a string called word and a function called infinitive such that word.infinitive would return another string on some occasions and an empty string otherwise I am trying to find an elegant ruby one line expression for the code-snippet below if word.infinitive == "" return word else return word.infinitive Had infinitive returned nil instead of "", I could have done something like (word.infinitive or word) But since it does not, I can't take advantage of the short-circuit OR Ideally I would want 1) a single expression that I could easily embed in other code 2) the function infinitive being called only once 3) to not add any custom gems or plugins into my code

  • PHP - error when insert date into MySQL

    - by Michael Mao
    Hello everyone: I've got a typical problem when trying to insert a date into MySQL. The column defined in MySQL is of type DATE. My PHP version is 5.3.0 Apart from this date-related issue, the rest of my code works just fine. And this is my PHP script to do this: $tablename = BOOKS_TABLE; $insert = mysql_query("INSERT INTO $tablename (barcode, book_name, volume_num,". " author, publisher, item_type, buy_price, buy_date) VALUES ". "(". "'" . $barcode . "', ". "'" . $bookname . "', ". "'" . $volumenum . "', ". "'" . $author . "', ". "'" . $publisher . "', ". "'" . $itemtype . "', ". "'" . $buyprice . "', ". "'" . getMySQLDateString($buydate). //"'STR_TO_DATE('".$buydate ."', '%d/%m/%Y'))'". //nothing changes in MySQL ")"); And this is the faulty function : function getMySQLDateString($buydate) //typical buydate : 04/21/2009 { $mysqlDateString = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $strtotime($buydate)); return $mysqlDateString; } The first commented out line wouldn't do anything, the script is executed with no error, however, there is nothing changed in datebase after this. The current approach will cause a Fatal error saying function name must be a string in this line. Actually I followed this thread on SO, but just cannot pass the date into MySQL... Can anyone help me figure out which part is not right? How would you do it, in this case, to get it right? Sorry about such a journeyman-like question, thanks a lot in advance.

  • Development Environment for Testing MySQL Replication

    - by Dave Morris
    Is there an easy way to setup an environment on one machine (or a VM) with MySQL replication? I would like to put together a proof of concept of MySQL replication with one Master write instance and two slave instances for reads. I can see doing it across 2 or 3 VMs running on my computer, but that would really bog down my system. I'd rather have everything running on the same VM. What's the best way to proof out scalability solutions like this in a local dev environment? Thanks for your help, Dave
