I need a way to get user home directory in C++ program running on Linux. If the same code works on Unix, it would be nice. I don't want to use HOME environment value.
AFAIK, root home directory is /root. Is it OK to create some files/folders in this directory, in the case my program is running by root user?
.NET contains its own equality comparison functionality, however I don't really understand how it works.
If the desired Equals() and == behaviour is to verify that every field of an object is equal to every field of another object, is it necessary to override Equals() with a method that does this explicitly?
I'm an html noob and I just wanted to know if it's possible to make a text box in which you could type a website and when you click submit it will load the website in the iframe of your choice.
Hi:
In one of my window form, I created an instance of a class to do some works in the background. I wanted to capture the debug messages in that class and displayed in the textbox in the window form. Here is what I did:
class A //window form class
{
public void startBackGroundTask()
{
B backGroundTask = new B(this);
}
public void updateTextBox(string data)
{
if (data != null)
{
if (this.Textbox.InvokeRequired)
{
appendUIDelegate updateDelegate = new appendUIDelegate(updateUI);
try
{
this.Invoke(updateDelegate, data);
}
catch (Exception e)
{
Console.WriteLine(e.Message);
}
}
else
{
updateUI(data);
}
}
}
private void updateUI(string data)
{
if (this.Textbox.InvokeRequired)
{
this.Textbox.Invoke(new appendUIDelegate(this.updateUI), data);
}
else
{
//update the text box
this.Textbox.AppendText(data);
this.Textbox.AppendText(Environment.NewLine);
}
}
private delegate void appendUIDelegate(string data);
}
class B // background task
{
A curUI;
public b( A UI)
{
curUI = UI;
}
private void test()
{
//do some works here then log the debug message to UI.
curUI.updateTextBox("message);
}
}
I keep getting a null reference exception after
this.Invoke(updateDelegate, data);
is called.
I know passing "this" as a parameter is strange. But I want to send the debug message to
my window form.
Please help.
Thanks
Are unused CSS images downloaded by the browser or ignored?
Eg. in CSS rules which don't match any elements.
.nothingHasThisClass{background:url(hugefile.png);}
Or would this be browser-dependant?
This is probably a really simple question, but how do I go about getting the right offset of an element in jQuery?
I can do:
$("#whatever").offset().left;
and it is valid.
But it seems that:
$("#whatever").offset().right
is undefined.
So how does one accomplish this in jQuery?
Thanks!!
Is there anyway to remove a character from a given position?
Let's say my word is:
PANCAKES
And I want to remove the 2nd letter (in this case, 'A'), so i want PNCAKES as my return.
Translate doesnt work for this.
Replace doesnt work for this.
Regex is damn complicated...
Ideas?
I have a class User and a class History. History has 'User' property, and User has 'Histories' property. So there's a database relationship.
But when I create a new User history class and set UserID property, I can't access the 'User' property.
var history = new History { UserID = 1 };
// history.User = null ???
How can I get the user?
I have a search engine that searches albums.
For each music album, I have a page.
So, the work flow goes like this:
People search for music titles
The search engine displays a list of albums.
People click on an album to go to a details page.
I want google to index my front page and the details page. I want the details page to be highly ranked. How can I build a sitemap for this?
By the way, I have about 5 million albums (but I want the top 1000 ones to be highly ranked on google)
Currently my tableview looks like this: as you can see, cell.textLabel and cell.detailTextLable both load this background, and i can't work out how to get them to stop loading the background, and for it only to be the backing on the cell.
Here's my current code to change the cell:
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
[cell setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"tableCell.png"]]];
}
How can i get round this problem?
Thanks in advance.
This is my first time building a responsive site, and as I tailor the CSS for the iPhone I'm running into a problem. The styles all apply correctly, the text changes size and the wrapper changes widths. The problem is the iPhone browser still opens up at a huge width, see the screenshot:
I'm using
@media all and (max-device-width: 480px) {}
to set the specific iPhone css. body {width:;} doesn't work.
Thanks for the help :)
I have noticed that the quality of the images produced by the JPEGEncoder does not match that of other encoders available (i.e. php's built in image compression functions from the gd library)
Any explanation ? or hints/workarounds for improving the quality of compressed images by JPEGEncoder ??
Hi
How do I change my code so that it lists the elements in alphabetical order from a to z. Right now it's ordering from z to a. I can't figure it out and am stuck :-/
String sName1 = ((Address)o).getSurname().toLowerCase();
String sName2 = (this.surname).toLowerCase();
int result = (sName1).compareTo(sName2);
return result;
Thanks :)
Suppose I have this:
<select id="myselect">
<option rel="a">1</option>
<option rel="b">2</option>
<select>
How do I use JQuery so that onchange $("#myselect"), I alert the "rel" part of the option (not 1 or 2)
Hello, is there a good regex expression that would be able to compare two dates
like 3/27/2010 to 3/8/2010 to tell if the first date is greater then the second date?
I'd like to compare using javascript
in R , when i use "print", i can see all the values, but how can i save this as a vector

msg = EmailMessage(subject, body, from_email, [to_email])
msg.content_subtype = "html"
msg.send()
This is how I send an email in Django.
But what if I want to open a text file and take into account all its line breaks and tabs. I want to take the body of the text file (with line breaks \n) and email it as text of the "body".
