    How does reconstruction using video compare to using standard reconstruction using still images? What similarities and differences are there. Finally what can and cannot be reconstructed using standard stereo methods?

  • ANDROID SAX Parser issue

    - by Chris Watson
    Since I am new to java programming, I need a bit of help with this. I stuck on this one issue and can't continue until I get this to work. I am trying to make a string from that includes a preference int. I saved the data and can display the int (just sample code): SharedPreferences prefs=PreferenceManager .getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); list.setText(prefs.getString("list", "22")); now, I have a xml parser that is pulling a url correctly as a static string: public static String feedUrl = String.format("http://www.freshpointmarketing.com/iphone/objects/XML/AND.php?ID=%d", 22); Works great... now my issue...... I need to have the preference "int" become the variable in the string, thus making it not static. static SharedPreferences prefs=PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); static int myVariable = prefs.getInt("list1", 22); public static String feedUrl = String.format("http://www.freshpointmarketing.com/iphone/objects/XML/AND.php?ID=%d", myVariable); If I take out all static references, I get an error on this: private void loadFeed(ParserType type){ try{ FeedParser parser = FeedParserFactory.getParser(type); long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); messages = parser.parse(); long duration = System.currentTimeMillis() - start; Log.i("AndroidNews", "Parser duration=" + duration); String xml = writeXml(); Log.i("AndroidNews", xml); List<String> titles = new ArrayList<String>(messages.size()); for (Message msg : messages){ titles.add(msg.getTitle()); } ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.row,titles); this.setListAdapter(adapter); } catch (Throwable t){ Log.e("AndroidNews",t.getMessage(),t); } } thanks

  • check if lookup yields any valid rows for insertion before clearing table using ssis

    - by Chris
    SSIS ignoramus needing help! the situation: a temp table is populated from an excel file, which has been known to change formats at random times, that is owned by a different group. a lookup need to be performed on the temp table, tableA, to populate tableB with valid data. if the lookup results in 0 rows being returned, an email should be sent and the existing data in tableB should remain untouched. If the lookup results in a number of valid rows 0, tableB should have all rows deleted and the new records from the lookup on tableA inserted. question: what would be the best way to check if there are any valid rows and perform the appropriate action(s), depending on my results? Thanks!

  • C++ unrestricted union workaround

    - by Chris
    #include <stdio.h> struct B { int x,y; }; struct A : public B { // This whines about "copy assignment operator not allowed in union" //A& operator =(const A& a) { printf("A=A should do the exact same thing as A=B\n"); } A& operator =(const B& b) { printf("A = B\n"); } }; union U { A a; B b; }; int main(int argc, const char* argv[]) { U u1, u2; u1.a = u2.b; // You can do this and it calls the operator = u1.a = (B)u2.a; // This works too u1.a = u2.a; // This calls the default assignment operator >:@ } Is there any workaround to be able to do that last line u1.a = u2.a with the exact same syntax, but have it call the operator = (don't care if it's =(B&) or =(A&)) instead of just copying data? Or are unrestricted unions (not supported even in Visual Studio 2010) the only option?

  • Obtaining XML from U.S. Postal Service (USPS) rate calculator API with PHP

    - by Chris F
    hoping somebody here can help me. I'm attempting to pull an XML page from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) rate calculator, using PHP. Here is the code I am using (with my API login and password replaced of course): <? $api = "http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll?API=RateV4&XML=<RateV4Request ". "USERID=\"MYUSERID\" PASSWORD=\"MYPASSWORD\"><Revision/><Package ID=\"1ST\">". "<Service>FIRST CLASS</Service><FirstClassMailType>PARCEL</FirstClassMailType>". "<ZipOrigination>12345</ZipOrigination><ZipDestination>54321</ZipDestination>". "<Pounds>0</Pounds><Ounces>9</Ounces><Container/><Size>REGULAR</Size></Package></RateV4Request>"; $xml_string = file_get_contents($api); $xml = simplexml_load_string($xml_string); ?> Pretty straightforward. However it never returns anything. I can paste the URL directly into my browser's address bar: http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll?API=RateV4&XML=<RateV4RequestUSERID="MYUSERID" PASSWORD="MYPASSWORD"><Revision/><Package ID="1ST"><Service>FIRST CLASS</Service><FirstClassMailType>PARCEL</FirstClassMailType><ZipOrigination>12345</ZipOrigination><ZipDestination>54321</ZipDestination><Pounds>0</Pounds><Ounces>9</Ounces><Container/><Size>REGULAR</Size></Package></RateV4Request> And it returns the XML I need, so I know the URL is valid. But I cannot seem to capture it using PHP. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • UITableView headings shown on top of MBProgressHUD

    - by Chris Ballinger
    So I have a subclass of UITableViewController that loads some data from the internet and uses MBProgressHUD during the loading process. I use the standard MBProgressHUD initialization. HUD = [[MBProgressHUD alloc] initWithView:self.view]; [self.view addSubview:HUD]; HUD.delegate = self; HUD.labelText = @"Loading"; [HUD show:YES]; This is the result: . Is there any way to resolve this issue, or should I just abandon MBProgressHUD? Thanks!

  • Refactoring huge if ( ... instanceof ...)

    - by Chris
    I'm currently trying to refactor a part of a project that looks like this: Many classes B extends A; C extends A; D extends C; E extends B; F extends A; ... And somewhere in the code: if (x instanceof B){ B n = (B) x; ... }else if (x instanceof C){ C n = (C) x; ... }else if (x instanceof D){ D n = (D) x; ... }else if (x instanceof E){ E n = (E) x; ... }else if (x instanceof G){ G n = (G) x; ... }... Above if-construct currently sits in a function with a CC of 19. Now my question is: Can I split this if-construct up in mutliple functions and let Java's OO do the magic? Or are there any catches I have to look out for? My idea: private void oopMagic(C obj){ ... Do the stuff from the if(x instanceof C) here} private void oopMagic(D obj){ ... Do the stuff from the if(x instanceof D) here} private void oopMagic(E obj){ ... Do the stuff from the if(x instanceof E) here} .... and instead of the huge if: oopMagic(x);

  • LINQ Query based on user preferences

    - by Chris Phelps
    How can I do this better (so it actually works : ) I have a LINQ Query that includes an order by that is based on a user preference. The user can decide if they would like the results ordered asc or desc. If fuserclass.SortOrder = "Ascending" Then Dim mydat = (From c In dc.ITRS Order By c.Date Ascending Select c) Else Dim mydat = (From c In dc.ITRS Order By c.Date Descending Select c) End If For each mydata in mydat ***<<<error "mydat is not declared"*** I know I could put my For Each loop inside the If and Else, but that seems silly to have the same code twice. I know you know of a better way : )

  • Is there an in memory database that supports the DATE function?

    - by Chris J
    Hi, I am doing some unit testing for a DAO that works with postgresql. Some of the SQL queries that my DAO uses involve the DATE function. Is there an in-memory database that supports functions similar to the ones that postgresql does? Currently I am looking for support for the DATE function however, I obviously can see myself using other functions in the future.

  • PHP login, getting wrong count value from query / fetch array

    - by Chris
    Hello, *EDIT*Thanks to the comments below it has been figured out that the problem lies with the md5, without everything works as it should. But how do i implent the md5 then? I am having some troubles with the following code below to login. The database and register system are already working. The problem lies that it does not find any result at all in the query. IF the count is 0 it should redirect the user to a secured page. But this only works if i write count = 0, but this should be 0 , only if the user name and password is found he should be directed to the secure (startpage) of the site after login. For example root (username) root (password) already exists but i cannot seem to properly login with it. <?php session_start(); if (!empty($_POST["send"])) { $username = ($_POST["username"]); $password = (md5($_POST["password"])); $count = 0; $con = mysql_connect("localhost" , "root", ""); mysql_select_db("testdb", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT name, password FROM user WHERE name = '".$username."' AND password = '".$password."' ") or die("Error select statement"); $count = mysql_num_rows($result); if($count > 0) // always goes the to else, only works with >=0 but then the data is not found in the database, hence incorrect { $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $_SESSION["username"] = $row["name"]; header("Location: StartPage.php"); } else { echo "Wrong login data, please try again"; } mysql_close($con); } ?>

  • Show information over image on rollover

    - by Chris
    I want to be able to show information (HTML basically) over an image when the mouse rolls over the image... I know there is a .hover() jQuery function but am unsure how to use it to get the desired effect. Ideally when a user hovers over an image it would "grey out" (e.g. layer of 50% opacity black) with some HTML like a title etc etc. Can someone point me in the right direction or provide sample code Thanks

  • Proper mechanism for sending PHP errors to the client

    - by Chris
    Greetings, I was trying to discover a proper way to send captured errors or business logic exceptions to the client in an Ajax-PHP system. In my case, the browser needs to react differently depending on whether a request was successful or not. However in all the examples I've found, only a simple string is reported back to the browser in both cases. Eg: if (something worked) echo "Success!"; else echo "ERROR: that failed"; So when the browser gets back the Ajax response, the only way to know if an error occurred would be to parse the string (looking for 'error' perhaps). This seems clunky. Is there a better/proper way to send back the Ajax response & notify the browser of an error? Thank you.

  • .Net SQL Server Connection String - hide password from other developers

    - by Chris Klepeis
    We're migrating one of our sites to ASP.Net. We do not want to use integrated security, which uses the windows account to connect to sql server (not going to get into why, its just out of the question). We created a username and password to connect to SQL Server, and would like to use that username and password, however, we also do not want other developers to see this information (easily read from the web.config).... I know it can be encrypted, but it can just as easily be decrypted by the developers - plus encryption has a performance hit. Is there any solution to this problem?

  • For what purposes have YOU used T4?

    - by Chris Melinn
    T4 has existed for several years in Visual Studio, but doesn't get a lot of attention. However, for those that know it, there seems to be some very creative and useful purposes. I am researching some different ways that T4 is used, and I would appreciate to hear how YOU may have used it for real life scenarios. I am primarily interested in non-standard and creative uses. Some interesting examples: Phil Haack uses T4 to create static CSS files from .less To Generate WPF and Silverlight Dependency Properties using T4 Templates Note: I realize this is a discussion-oriented question, but the answers could be helpful to others. I have tagged it as subjective and also marked as "community wiki", so please allow the question to remain open. Thanks!

  • Autopopulate from Select box from database

    - by Chris Spalton
    hope you can help, please forgive any poor coding or anytihng, I'm new to this and just hacking my way through to get things to work. That said, on one of my projects I have this code, which successfully populates the dropdown from a database when the page is loaded: <select name="Region" id="Region"> <option value="">-- Select Region --</option> <?php $region=$POST['Region']; if ($region); { $regionquery = "SELECT DISTINCT REGION FROM Sales_Execs "; $regionresult = mysql_query($regionquery); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($regionresult)) { echo "<option value=\"".$row['REGION']."\">".$row['REGION']."</option>\n "; } } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('Region').value = <?php echo json_encode(trim($_POST['Region']));?>; </script> </select> On my next project that I'm working on now, I need to do the same thing, so I copied the above code amended, and placed in my new project: <select name="Sales_Exec" id="Sales_Exec"> <option value="">-- Select SE --</option> <?php $salesexec=$POST['Sales_Exec']; if ($salesexec); { $salesexecquery = "SELECT DISTINCT Assigned FROM Data "; $salesexecresult = mysql_query($salesexecquery); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($salesexecresult)) { echo "<option value=\"".$row['ASSIGNED']."\">".$row['ASSIGNED']."</option>\n "; } } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('Sales_Exec').value = <?php echo json_encode(trim($_POST['Sales_Exec']));?>; </script> </select> This second chunk of code doesn't work... and I can't work out why as it seems I've copied it all and amended all the neccersary parts, can anyone spot what is wrong? Thankyou!

  • Scolling list with jQuery

    - by Chris
    My javascript is not up to scratch at the moment and I am stumped with this! I need to create an animated list with javascript like this one - http://www.fiveminuteargument.com/blog/scrolling-list. What I want is to take a list like so <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> <li>Item 4</li> <li>Item 5</li> <li>Item 6</li> </ul> And display two at once, then display them in a loop, 2 at a time. Even pseudo code would help to get me started.

  • NoSQL vs Relational Coding Styles

    - by Chris Henry
    When building objects that make use of data stored in a RDBMS, it's normally pretty clear what you're getting back, as dictated by the tables and columns being queried. However, when dealing with NoSQL, document-based systems, it's less clear what is being retrieved. What are common methods of keeping track of structure in which data is stored?
