  • 5 Reasons You Must Start Capturing Baseline Data

It is widely acknowledged within the SQL Server community that baselines represent valuable information that DBAs should capture. Unfortunately, very few companies manage to log and report on this information, and DBAs are then forced to troubleshoot from the hip and scramble to find evidence to prove that the database is not the problem. This article will make a compelling argument for why DBAs must start capturing baseline information, and will create a roadmap for subsequent posts.

  • Reporting what's not there

It's easy to write queries that will show data in the database that matches a criteria. However, if no data in the database matches the criteria, it becomes more difficult. This article examines two different scenarios where it's necessary to create data in order to be able to report zero values in queries.

  • lead capture apps

    - by Steve
I'd like to build a lead capture website, where a visitor is required to enter their name and email address in order to receive a free report for download. Do you know of an app which will let me store captured information in a database, and present the download link to them after registering? I guess this can all be accomplished using a contact form script with database integration and jquery confirmation message.

  • Page views in Google Analytics are off compared to a similar metric

    - by tiki16
We have a page where a user can sign a pledge to recycle by clicking a pledge button. A script writes it to a text file which updates the number on the page. In the past 2 days there have been 185 pledges signed but only 63 page views in GA. I trust that they are unique pledges and not just people adding multiple fake names and entering it. Is there anyway to get a better report from Google Analytics?

  • How can I have more clicks than page views in AdSense

    - by ArcticLlama
One of my AdSense ad units (in the new beta interface) occasionally says that I have more clicks than page views which gives a CTR of over 100%. Does anyone know how this happens? I'm assuming it has something to do with when a page view is recorded, versus when someone clicks, but it happens regularly enough (on a daily report) that it can't just be that a bunch of users click an ad before the page displays fully.

  • Botnet Malware Sleeps Eight Months Activation, Child Concerns

Daily Safety Check experts used a computer forensic analysis of a significant botnet that consisted of Carberp and SpyEye malware to come up with the details for their report. The analysis found that the botnet profiled the behavior of the slave computers it infected, similar to surveillance techniques used by law enforcement agencies, for an average of eight months. During the eight months, the botnet analyzed each computer's users and assigned ratings to certain activities to form a complete profile for each. Doing so allowed those behind the scheme to determine which were the most favora...

  • Ubuntu 11.10 error message at startup after clean install

    - by user999687
I have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 (did a fresh install and erased 11.04). After the reboot it appeared a log on the screen, saying all the starting services on the left and [OK] on the right. However, two particular entries, starting automatic crash report installation and starting restore sound card(s') mixer state(s) were set on [FAIL]. After that, Ubuntu did not boot. Is there any way that i can skip those two entries and boot Ubuntu?

  • google analytics statistics

    - by colmcq
I am compiling a report for a client using google analytics. I have observed that the client has unusually good page view times (5 mins) and excellent bounce rates (<25%). I need to reference research data that validates my assertion that these figures are excellent compared to an industry standard (the industry is ecommerce and gaming). Can you direct me to any published research data that specifies normal bounce rates and page view times for this industry?

  • Google analytics campaign advice

    - by Drewsdesign
I am buying traffic from a broker not one source and sending to various landing pages. I would like to know the best way to structure a campaign so I can find which referrering site/url is performing the best (time on site, bounce etc) Should the utm_campaign be the 'brokername' and the utm_source be the 'landingpagename' or should this be the other way around? Also what would be the best way to create a custom report to show all the referrers metrics by each landing page ? Thank guys really appreciate any help on this.
