  • How can I save an NSDocument concurrently?

    - by Paperflyer
I have a document based application. Saving the document can take a few seconds, so I want to enable the user to continue using the program while it saves the document in the background. Due to the document architecture, my application is asked to save to a temporary location and that temporary file is then copied over the old file. However, this means that I can not just run my file saving code in the background and return way before it is done, since the temporary file has to be written completely before it can be copied. Is there a way to disable this temporary-file-behavior or otherwise enable file saving in the background?

  • 2 columns 100% height. Can the problem ever be solved in html markup???!!

    - by denja
    I'm in despair trying to draw this simple thing. Two columns stretching 100% vertically. Is this ever possible? here there are two tries <html> <head> <title>Columns</title> </head> <body> <style type="text/css"> .wrapper {font-size:900px; width:1200px; margin:0 auto; } .col1 { width:600px; height:100%; float:left; background:#f00; } .col2 { width:600px; height:100%; float:left; background:#00f; } </style> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="col1"> C o l u m n 1 </div> <div class="col2"> C ol u m n 2 </div> </div> </body> </html> and <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en-GB"> <head> <title>2 Column CSS Demo - Equal Height Columns with Cross-Browser CSS</title> <style media="screen" type="text/css"> /* <!-- */ *{ margin:0; padding:0; } html { background-color: #ccc; height: 100%; } body { background-color: white; width: 600px; margin: 0 auto; height:100%; position: relative; border-left: 1px solid #888; border-right: 2px solid black; } #footer { clear:both; width:100%; height:0px;font-size:0px; } #container2 { clear:left; float:left; width:600px; overflow:hidden; background:#ffa7a7; } #container1 { float:left; width:600px; position:relative; right:200px; background:#fff689; } #col1 { float:left; width:400px; position:relative; left:200px; overflow:hidden; } #col2 { float:left; width:200px; position:relative; left:200px; overflow:hidden; } /* --> */ </style> </head> <body> <div id="container2"> <div id="container1"> <div id="col1"> aaaa a a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a aa a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a aa a a a a aa aa a </div> <div id="col2"> fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn v </div> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> &nbsp; </div> </body>

  • How to change text color for link in tr element with CSS

    - by mathee
I'd like to change the background and text color when the mouse hovers over a row in a table: tr { background-color:#FFF; color:#000; } tr:hover { background-color:#000; color:#FFF; } This works if there aren't any links in the tr elements, but when there are, the link color remains black (because of a { color: #000; }?). How do I specify in the CSS that links in the tr element should change color when the mouse hovers over the tr?

  • jQuery .queue() not working as expected

    - by Andrew
The page in question is right here: http://s289116086.onlinehome.us/lawjournaltv/index.php I'm 90% of the way there, I'm just assuming there's an error with my syntax. Focus on the blue callout area with "Workers' Compensation" as the title: Basically, I've created a little slideshow there with the controls at the top and when you click on any of them both the callout and the background are to slide. As you can see it's working now, but the problem is that I want the new background to slide in over the old one. I've tried several things including the queue() method, delay(), and adding everything else to the animate() callback with no success (right now the background goes black and then the new image slides in). You guys have never let me down before, so I'm hoping this is an easy fix. Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery Set Child CSS Attribute Problem

    - by Jascha
I have a child element of a div named "bob" that's class is '.divTitle' <div id="bob"> <div class="divTitle"> <a href="#"> <h1>Title</h1> </a> </div> </div> I am trying to set the background color of "divTitle" to red but for the life of me can't get this to work. Right now I am trying two things... $('#bob').children('.divTitle')[0].css('background-color', '#0f0'); // assuming children is returning an array... and $('#bob').children('.divTitle').css('background-color', '#0f0'); neither with any success... can anyone tell me what I am missing here? Do I have to go deeper than ".children"?

  • Repeating parallax using Cocos2D on Android

    - by Saurabh Verma
I want to draw a infinitely repeating parallax using Cocos2D on Android. Now, there are some solutions given to this problem in Objective C, but I'm stuck with my implementation in Android. I have tried using CCSprite background = CCSprite.sprite("background_island.png"); CCTexParams params = new CCTexParams(GL10.GL_LINEAR,GL10.GL_LINEAR,GL10.GL_REPEAT,GL10.GL_REPEAT); background.getTexture().setTexParameters(params); But it only extends the background in 1 direction. I guess I have to use 2 sprites, such that as soon as 1st finishes, the other starts and vice versa, but I'm stuck with the implementation.

  • Ruby Multithreading: making one thread wait for a signal from another

    - by Peter
In Ruby, I want to have two threads running at the same time, and want the background thread to periodically signal the foreground thread. How do I get the foreground thread to block until the background thread says 'go'? I can think of a few ways to do it, but am after the most appropriate, idiomatic Ruby method. In code: loop do # background, thread 1 sleep 3 receive_input # tell foreground input is ready # <-- how do I do this? end and loop do # foreground, thread 2 wait_for_signal_from_background # <-- how do I do this? do_something end

  • How to achieve the recessed text style as in Apple's Messages for Mac?

    - by Thruth
I'd like to replicate the recessed text style of Messages/iMessage, or, the text "white-shadow" style on a light gray background. Please refer to an image here for the style I desire. As you can see, the texts are with "white-shadow" even on the light gray background. The bold texts do have subpixel rendering while the gray texts don't (by design?). I've tried setBackgroundStyle:NSBackgroundStyleRaised . However it was generating shadows darker than the background. setBackgroundStyle:NSBackgroundStyleLowered was worse that it even overrode my font colour setting. So, what is the right way to do this? Any tricks or just have to subclass NSTextFields ? Thanks.

  • WPF calls not working during long method processing

    - by Colin Rouse
Hi, The following method does not apply the wpf changes (background = red) until the 2nd method (DoWork) exits: private void change() { Background = Brushes.Red; Dispatcher.BeginInvoke((Action) DoWork); } DoWork() takes several seconds to run and I don't really want to put it into a thread, as this code will be used in several places and will probably interact will the Dispatcher thread at various intervals. I've tried calling the Invalidate...() methods, but to no avail. The BeginInvoke() was added to see if the delay would allow the background change to be applied before the logic was called. Typically, the logic would be part of this method. Btw, most of the logic is performed on a different thread and shouldn't block the Dispatcher thread?! Can someone please help? Thanks

  • How to define a multipage environment not interrupted by tables and figures?

    - by Egon Willighagen
I have defined a new LaTeX environment for excursions in a book chapter I am writing. The environment is multipage and often includes inline images. Moreover, I am using the shaded environment to give the environment a background colour to make it stand out a bit. However, the environment, as shown below, is split up by floating tables and images, which makes the flow of the environment visually more difficult to follow. For example, it is now difficult to see if that floating image or table is part (the missing background colour does not help). So, I like to extend my environment to disallow it to be interrupted by floating elements, but do not know how to get that done. \newcounter{bioclipse} \def\thebioclipse{\thechapter-\arabic{bioclipse}} \newenvironment{bioclipse}[2][]{\begin{small}\begin{shaded}\refstepcounter{bioclipse} \par\medskip\noindent% \textbf{Bioclipse Excursion~\thebioclipse #1: #2 \vspace{0.1cm} \hrule \vspace{0.1cm}} \rmfamily}{\medskip \end{shaded}\end{small}} Any solution to disallow interruption is fine, even if the background colour is done differently.

  • Javascript Problem! Not changing the css style

    - by mathew
I have this code in JavaScript: function change() { document.getElementById("mem").className = 'gif'; } The fig and gif are like this: a.fig { background: #FFFFFF; } a.gif { background: #000099 ; } and the function is used like this <a class ="fig" id ="mem" onClick="javascript:change()" href="users" > Where the only difference between gif and fig in CSS is that they have different background colors. The problem is that the change is only noticeable in just a second and it is not permanent! Any ideas?

  • last-child CSS issues

    - by Neurofluxation
Hey you guys (and girls), I have implemented the following CSS: #tab-navigation ul li:last-child { background-image: url(../images/tabs-end.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; color: #fff; display: block; border: 1px solid red; background-position: right; } However, for some reason this is not working at all in IE (surprise!) - I read (after some research) that IE requires a DOCTYPE, but I already have <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> defined. Any ideas peeps?

  • JavaScript Array Problem

    - by JasonS
Hi, This wasn't the question I was going to ask but I have unexpectedly run aground with JavaScript arrays. I come from a PHP background and after looking at a few websites I am none the wiser. I am trying to create a multi-dimensional array. var photos = new Array; var a = 0; $("#photos img").each(function(i) { photos[a]["url"] = this.src; photos[a]["caption"] = this.alt; photos[a]["background"] = this.css('background-color'); a++; }); Error message: photos[a] is undefined. How do I do this. Thanks.

  • Flashing and closing PyS60 SIS

    - by Matrich
I created a py script for S60 2nd Edition FP3 with a background image, database, sound files which are stored in a folder on c drive. After several hours, I have managed to convert it into sis which I sent to my mobile phone. First, I installed the sis on the external memory and it failed to work. I read online that it should be on the same drive as python runtime. So I installed it on phone memory but it just flashes and then closes. I made another sis with a database and it worked so I suspect it could be because it cant find the background image and sound files in the folder. How can I know the cause of this? Also, how can I include the background image and sound files with the sis so that they are automatically installed when installing the sis file?

  • CSS Container not growing with grid?

    - by CmdrTallen
Hi, I have a container background defined in CSS like this; .container { background:#fff; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; position: relative; width:970px; border:1px solid #000; padding:5px 10px; } The problem is I have a jqGrid put in the bottom of the container (near the bottom edge) and when its initially drawn it does fit inside the container panel and looks correct. Something like this (please pardon my non-l33t graphic skillz): But then when I populate the grid with rows it outgrows the container and it looks really tacky, something like this (I circled the original container background edges): I am sure its something I am doing wrong with the CSS. Any advice would be appreciated. EDIT: The problem isn't the width its the height of the container being overlapped by the new height of the now populated grid

  • Center four columns in CSS

    - by Ernest
    Hi everybody, I'm trying to make four columns that are centered on the frontpage. I would like it to look like this example: http://www.clutterpad.com/ My code looks like this: #bottom-container {width:100%;height:250px;position:relative;} #bottom-mid {background-color:white;} #bottom-left, #bottom-mid, #bottom-right {height:250px;} #bottom-left, #bottom-right {width:50%;float:left;} #bottom-left {background-color:white;position:absolute;top:0px;left:0px;} #bottom-right {background-color:white;position:absolute;top:0px;left:50%;} #bottom-mid {position:relative;margin:0px auto; width:1000px;z-index:2;} #column-container {width:100%; margin:20px auto;} .column {width:200px;float:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;margin:20px 10px;} But it's not working out. • Using colon syntax and variables in Sass

    - by corroded
I am still using the old colon syntax (I prefer it more than the bracket syntax) and this particular code: a.button-link +box($main-color) +border-radius(5px) :background :color $main-color :color #fff :padding 5px generates a warning like so: DEPRECATION WARNING: On line 12, character 3 of '/Users/eumir/rails_apps/dxconnect/app/ stylesheets/partials/utilities/_link-styles.sass' Setting properties with = has been deprecated and will be removed in version 3.2. Use "background: $main-color" instead. I tried that but my background color still doesn't show up. Any help on this please? Thanks!

  • Flipping around a div using Javascript

    - by Isaac Copper
Flip is a great JQuery plugin for flipping blocks, but it doesn't preserve the background while it animates the flip. For example, I have this pretty background, here, before I flip. While flipping, it gets ugly: here. Is there a way I can flip this div nicely, keeping the pretty background I have, and maybe even achieve a smoother animation than I can get with Flip? If I need to dive into this headfirst and code my own function for flipping a div, that's also doable, and I'd really appreciate some pointer there, if that's what I must do. Thanks so much!

  • Style common group of divs in one css statement.

    - by Vafello
    I have a few divs created dynamically in Javascript.I was wondering if it is possible to style them all at once. #somediv { background-color: #F2F5FC; border-style:solid; border-bottom:thin dotted #33ccff; } #somediv2 { background-color: #F2F5FC; border-style:solid; border-bottom:thin dotted #33ccff; } ...and so on (this can be even 50 divs) I would like to change this to something like: #somediv* { background-color: #F2F5FC; border-style:solid; border-bottom:thin dotted #33ccff; }

  • Is it possible to access raw iphone audio output?

    - by Peter Hall
Is it possible access raw PCM data from the iphone audio output? I know I can embed an MP3 and use AudioUnit. But if the user is playing music in the background from their itunes library, is it possible to access that audio data? This is for an app that shows visual effects, which react to the music. From what I can tell, it isn't possible, but that's just from lack of finding any information at all, rather than actual confirmation that it can't be done. If it isn't possible to access the audio stream from the ipod, is it possible to access raw audio output from the Media Player inside an app, or is pretty much not permitted to access raw audio data from the itunes library at all? EDIT: I found this question: iOS - Access output audio from background program, which say I can't access the audio from a background app. But is it possible to get the audio data from the itunes library if I play it inside the app?
