  • A PHP script to stream internet radio?

    - by Honus Wagner
I've been searching and searching and I haven't yet come up with a solution to host my own streaming audio player. I'm looking for a way to host an internet radio player that connects to whatever streams I enter in and plays them. I'm not looking to play my MP3s or anything like that. I'm looking to play content from 181.fm or 1Club.fm, for example. I'd even settle for ShoutCast-only streams. I've been to www.wavestreaming.com but it didnt work for me. I'm guessing its because in the very first box where you enter your website url, it leads in for you: http//www. then you fill in the rest. My site is https:// and does not contain a www. in the URL. I'm guessing that has something to do with it. Any links, suggestions for search topics, or even a brief technical overview of what I should be looking into would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

  • Problems with MediaPlayer, raw resources, stop and start

    - by arakn0
Hello everybody, I'm new in Android development and I have the next question/problem. I'm playing around with the MediaPlayer class to reproduce some sounds/music. I am playing raw resources (res/raw) and it looks kind of easy. To play a raw resource, the MediaPlayer has to be initialized like this: MediaPlayer mp = MediaPlayer.create(appContext, R.raw.song); mp.start(); Until here there is no problem. The sound is played, and everything works fine. My problem appears when I want to add more options to my application. Specifically when I add the "Stop" button/option. Basically, what I want to do is...when I press "Stop", the music stops. And when I press "Start", the song/sound starts over. (pretty basic!) To stop the media player, you only have to call stop(). But to play the sound again, the media player has to be reseted and prepared. mp.reset(); mp.setDataSource(params); mp.prepare(); The problem is that the method setDataSource() only accepts as params a file path, Content Provider URI, streaming media URL path, or File Descriptor. So, since this method doesn't accept a resource identifier, I don't know how to set the data source in order to call prepare(). In addition, I don't understand why you can't use a Resouce identifier to set the data source, but you can use a resource identifier when initializing the MediaPlayer. I guess that I'm missing something. I wonder if I am mixing concepts, and the method stop() doesn't have to be called in the "Stop" button. Any help? Thanks in advanced!!!

  • Focus on background Music when in a call

    - by Developer
I am developing an app. I need to play the music when i am in a call. But i am facing with the problem that whenever i try to play the music in a call it is not that much loud as it is when there is no call. Is there any way to control the background music when in a call. My music volume becomes softer when i am in a call but it becomes louder as soon as i end the call. final AudioManager mAudioManager = (AudioManager) ctx .getSystemService(AUDIO_SERVICE); final int originalVolume = mAudioManager .getStreamVolume(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); mAudioManager .setStreamVolume( AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, mAudioManager .getStreamMaxVolume(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC), 0); mp = new MediaPlayer(); mp.setAudioStreamType(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); mAudioManager.setMode(AudioManager.MODE_NORMAL); Class audioSystemClass = Class .forName("android.media.AudioSystem"); Method setForceUse = audioSystemClass.getMethod( "setForceUse", int.class, int.class); // First 1 == FOR_MEDIA, second 1 == FORCE_SPEAKER. To go // back to the default // behavior, use FORCE_NONE (0). setForceUse.invoke(null, 1, 1); this is my code.

  • Using kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck on iPhone

    - by Cliff
Hello, I'm trying to get consistant behavior out of the kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck property on the iPhone to allow iPod music blending and I'm having trouble. At the start of my app I set an Ambient category like so: -(void) initialize { [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory: AVAudioSessionCategoryAmbient error: nil]; } Later on when I attempt to play audio I set the duck property using the following method: //this will crossfade the audio with the ipod music - (void) toggleCrossfadeOn:(UInt32)onOff { //crossfade the ipod music AudioSessionSetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_OtherMixableAudioShouldDuck,sizeof(onOff),&onOff); AudioSessionSetActive(onOff); } I call this passing a numeric "1" just before playing audio like so: [self toggleCrossfadeOn:1]; [player play]; I then call the crossfade method again passing a zero when my app's audio completes using a playback is stopping callback like so: -(void) playbackIsStoppingForPlayer:(MQAudioPlayer*)audioPlayer { NSLog(@"Releasing player"); [audioPlayer release]; [self toggleCrossfadeOn:0]; } In my production app this exact code works as expected, causing the ipod to fade out just before playing my app's audio then fade back in when the audio finishes playing. In a new project I recently started, I get different behavior. The iPod audio fades down and never fades back in. In my production app I use the AVAudioPlayer where in my new app I've written a custom audio player that uses audio queues. Could somebody help me understand the differences and how to properly use this API?

  • AVAudioRecorder Won't Record On Device

    - by Dyldo42
This is my method: -(void) playOrRecord:(UIButton *)sender { if (playBool == YES) { NSError *error = nil; NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"%d", [sender tag]] ofType:@"caf"]; NSURL *fileUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filePath]; AVAudioPlayer *player = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:fileUrl error:&error]; [player setNumberOfLoops:0]; [player play]; } else if (playBool == NO) { if ([recorder isRecording]) { [recorder stop]; [nowRecording setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"NormalNormal.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nowRecording setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"NormalSelected.png"] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; } if (nowRecording == sender) { nowRecording = nil; return; } nowRecording = sender; NSError *error = nil; NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"%d", [sender tag]] ofType:@"caf"]; NSURL *fileUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filePath]; [sender setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"RecordingNormal.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [sender setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"RecordingSelected.png"] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; recorder = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:fileUrl settings:recordSettings error:&error]; [recorder record]; } } Most of it is self explanatory; playBool is a BOOL that is YES when it is in play mode. Everything works in the simulator however, when I run it on a device, [recorder record] returns NO. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

  • video streaming over http in blackberry

    - by ysnky
hi all, while i was searching video player over http, i found the article which is located at this url; http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/Stream ing_media_-_Start_to_finish.html?nodeid=2456737&ve rnum=0 i can run by adding ";deviceside=true" at the end of url. it works fine in the jde4.5 simulator. it gets 3gp videos from my local server. i tested with 580kb files and works fine. but when i get the same file from my server (not local, real server) i have problems with big files (e.g 580 kb). it plays 180kb files (but sometimes it does not play this file either) but not plays 580kb file. and also i deployed my application to my 9000 device it sometimes plays small file (180kb) but never plays big file (580kb). why it plays if it is on my local file, not play in real world? i ve stucked for days. hope you help me. and also the code at the url given below is not work, the only code i ve found is the above. blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/How_To _-_Play_video_within_a_BlackBerry_smartphone_appli cation.html?nodeid=1383173&vernum=0 btw, there is no method such as resize(long param) of CircularByteBuffer class. so i comment relavent line (buffer.resize(buffer.getSize() + (buffer.getSize() * percent / 100)); as shown below. public void increaseBufferCapacity(int percent) { if(percent < 0){ log(0, "FAILED! • SoundManager / Jquery : Get SoundID sID

    - by j-man86
So I am trying to access a jquery soundmanager variable from one script (wpaudio.js – from the wp-audio plugin) inside of another (init.js – my own javascript). I am creating an alternate pause/play button higher up on the page and need to resume the current soundID, which is contained as part of a class name in the DOM. Here is the code that creates that class name in wpaudio.js: function wpaButtonCheck() { if (!this.playState || this.paused) jQuery('#' + this.sID + '_play').attr('src', wpa_url + '/wpa_play.png'); else jQuery('#' + this.sID + '_play').attr('src', wpa_url + '/wpa_pause.png'); } Here is the output: <img src="http://24.232.185.173/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpaudio-mp3-player/wpa_play.png" class="wpa_play" id="wpa0_play"> where wpa0 would be the sID of the sound I need. My current script in init.js is: $('.mixesSidebar #currentSong .playBtn').toggle(function() { soundManager.pauseAll(); $(this).addClass('paused'); }, function() { soundManager.resumeAll(); $(this).removeClass('paused'); }); I need to change resumeAll to "resume(this.sID)", but I need to somehow store the sID onclick and call it in the above function. Alternately, I think a regular expression that could get the class name of the current play button and either parse the string up to the "_play" or use a trim function to get rid of "_play"– but I'm not sure how to do this. Thanks for your help!

  • Does anyone know of a good Commercial WPF Web Browser Control?

    - by VoidDweller
I have an MDI WPF app that I need to add web content too. At first, great it looks like I have 2 options built into the framework the Frame control and the WebBrowser control. Given that this is an MDI app it doesn't take long to discover that neither of these will work. The WebBrowser control wraps up the IE WebBrowser ActiveX Control which uses the Win32 graphics pipeline. The "Airspace" issue pretty much sums this up as "Sorry, the layouts will not play nice together". Yes, I have thought about taking snapshots of the web content rendering these and mapping the mouse and keyboard events back to the browser control, but I can't afford the performance penalty and I really don't have time to write and thoroughly test it. I have looked for third party controls, but so far I have only found Chris Cavanagh's WPF Chromium Web Browser control. Which wraps up Awesomium 1.5. Together these are very cool, they play nice with the WPF layouts. But they do not meet my performance requirements. They are VERY HEAVY on memory consumption and not to friendly with CPU usage either. Not to mention still quite buggy. I'll elaborate if you are interested. So, do any of you know of a stable performant WPF web browser control? Thanks.

  • Testing background audio in the simulator

    - by Cactuar
I'm experimenting with the new background audio service in iPhone OS 4.0 but I can't get it to work in the simulator. According to this page: iPhone Application Programming Guide: Executing Code in the Background it seems that all I have to do is add the a UIBackgroundModes key with an array containing audio to my Info.plist file and the audio my application plays should automatically continue when I switch to another app. I have done this but the audio still pauses as I switch to another app, when I switch back it continues where it left off. This is the code I'm using to play the sound: NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/audio.mp3", [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]]]; NSError *error; audioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url error:&error]; audioPlayer.numberOfLoops = -1; if (audioPlayer == nil) NSLog(@"%@", [error userInfo]); else [audioPlayer play]; Has anyone gotten this to work? Could it be that it would work on an actual device and it's just a problem with the simulator? I'm a bit hesitant to install 4.0 on my phone since I've heard it's still very buggy. Wish I had another device to use only for development.

  • What is the behavior of a WPF 4 ControlStoryboardAction trigger?

    - by jonathan_ou
Hi all! I have a question that's been bugging me for a while: I have a lengthy IO operation which I invoke asynchronously, and I want my UI to show a blinking text to tell the users that the data is loading. I have an IsLoading boolean property in my ViewModel, and I used a ControlStoryboardAction to kickoff the blinking animation, which is set to repeat forever. For my ControlStoryboardAction trigger, I configured a data trigger to see if IsLoading is true, and start my storyboard if true. My problem is, when my IO operation returns, and I set IsLoading back to false, the animation continues to play. I thought once the trigger condition evaluated to false, it would stop the animation? I then added a second ControlStoryboardAction to stop the animation if IsLoading evaluted to false, but this didn't have any effect. The animation continued to play after IsLoading was false. Can anyone explain to me how trigger works in ControlStoryboardAction? In normal data triggers in WPF, once the condition evaluated to false, the property would be set back to its original state. It seems triggers in WPF actions don't work the same way? Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Flash AS2.0 and JavaScript/jQuery (ExternalInterface) Communication

    - by abysslogic
Hi there, Im trying to use JS to send data to my Flash AS2.0 music player with ExternalInterface, except there are no good tutorials or guides on ExternalInterface that I can find. I want to be able to change the current song in the player by clicking a JavaScript link, and on page / window load without clicking, play a default song. I dont need a super complicated answer on loading sounds in flash, etc., I am just having a lot of difficulties getting JS to send anything to Flash, and when I get that to work - would I need to put some if / else into the flash to determine if the link has been clicked or not? Thanks edit heres the code as of now: AS 2.0 import flash.external.ExternalInterface; ExternalInterface.addCallback('loadSong', null, flashFunction); function flashFunction (val) { extra = val; } JavaScript var flashObj = document.getElementById('VSPLAYER'); function loadSong(val) { return val } HTML <a href="javascript:loadSong('2')">Play song 2</a> <object id="VSPLAYER" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="vs_player.swf" width="280" height="90"> <param name="movie" value="vs_player.swf" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> </object>

  • Problem with ImageButton.setVisibility()

    - by Luis Lopez
    Hello guys! I'm having a problem when setting the visibility of two image buttons one on top of the other. The idea is to implement a play/pause control. The problem is that the only part where setting the visibility actually works is in the click listeners of the buttons. If I try to change it somewhere else nothing happens. Any idea why is this happening? Thanks in advance! playBtn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {//PLAY BUTTON LISTENER public void onClick(View v) { playBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.GONE); pauseBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.VISIBLE); mp.start(); }}); pauseBtn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {//PAUSE BUTTON LISTENER public void onClick(View v) { pauseBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.GONE); playBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.VISIBLE); mp.pause(); }}); final class SeekBarTask extends TimerTask { public SeekBarTask(int duration) { } @Override public void run() { if(seekBar.getProgress() = mp.getDuration()) {//IF SONG HAS FINISHED... pauseBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.GONE);//THESE ONES playBtn.setVisibility(ImageButton.VISIBLE);//DOESN'T WORK mp.stop(); } else { seekBar.incrementProgressBy(100); } } }

  • Getting nice sound from Java

    - by Peter Lang
I managed to play midi files using Java, but it produces some distracting noise. I figured out that this is caused by the poor quality soundbank file shipped with Java 6 SDK/JRE. How can I improve that quality? Here is what I have so far: MidiNote example using a Receiver works fine (sounds the same as when playing midi files with other players), so it does not seem to use the Soundbank shipped with Java but the fallback mechanism that uses a hardware MIDI port. Using SimpleMidiPlayer example to play a Midi file works, but the quality is poor. When I delete lib/audio/soundbank.gm, the quality is not bad any more, so the fallback is used again. When I put soundbank-deluxe.gm into the same directory, it is used and produces much better sound. Messing with the clients soundbank file as described in the official Installation Instructions certainly isn't an option, so I tried to put the new soundbank-file into the jar-file and load it: Soundbank soundbank = MidiSystem.getSoundbank( getClass().getResourceAsStream("soundbank-deluxe.gm")); if(synthesizer.isSoundbankSupported(soundbank)) { System.out.println(synthesizer.loadAllInstruments(soundbank)); } This prints true, but the sound remains unchanged. What am I doing wrong loading the soundbank file? Can I force the hardware MIDI port to be used instead of the standard soundbank file?

  • Android: Change the source of ImageView present in ListView

  • How to loop video using NetStream in Data Generation Mode

    - by WesleyJohnson
I'm using a NetStream in Data Generation Mode to play an embeded FLV using appendBytes. When the stream is finished playing, I'd like to loop the FLV file. I'm not sure how to achieve this. Here is what I have so far (this isn't a complete example): public function createBorderAnimation():void { // Load the skin image borderAnimation = Assets.BorderAnimation; // Convert the animation to a byte array borderAnimationBytes = new borderAnimation(); // Initialize the net connection border_nc = new NetConnection(); border_nc.connect( null ); // Initialize the net stream border_ns = new NetStream( border_nc ); border_ns.client = { onMetaData:function( obj:Object ):void{ trace(obj); } } border_ns.addEventListener( NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, border_netStatusHandler ); border_ns.play( null ); border_ns.appendBytes( borderAnimationBytes ); // Initialize the animation border_vd = new Video( 1024, 768 ); border_vd.attachNetStream( border_ns ); // Add the animation to the stage ui = new UIComponent(); ui.addChild( DisplayObject( border_vd ) ); grpBackground.addElement( ui ); } protected function border_netStatusHandler( event:NetStatusEvent ):void { if( event.info.code == "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" || event.info.code == "NetStream.Buffer.Empty" ) { border_ns.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.RESET_BEGIN ); border_ns.appendBytes( borderAnimationBytes ); border_ns.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.END_SEQUENCE ); } } This will loop the animation, but it starts chewing up memory like crazy. I've tried using NetStream.seek(0) and NetStream.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.RESET_SEEK ), but then I'm not sure what to do next. If you just try to call appendBytes again after that, it doesn't work, presumably because I'm appending the full byte array which has the FLV header and stuff? I'm not very familiar with how that all works. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • How to find the leaky faucet that loads into Malloc 32kb

    - by Rob
    I have been messing around with Leaks trying to find which function is not being deallocated (I am still new to this) and could really use some experienced insight. I have this bit of code that seems to be the culprit. Every time I press the button that calls this code, 32kb of memory is additionally allocated to memory and when the button is released that memory does not get deallocated. What I found was that everytime that AVAudioPlayer is called to play an m4a file, the final function to parse the m4a file is MP4BoxParser::Initialize() and this in turn allocates 32kb of memory through Cached_DataSource::ReadBytes My question is, how do I go about deallocating that after it is finished so that it doesn't keep allocating 32kb every time the button is pressed? Any help you could provide is greatly appreciated! - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { //stop playing theAudio.stop; // cancel any pending handleSingleTap messages [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(handleSingleTap) object:nil]; UITouch* touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; NSString* filename = [g_AppsList objectAtIndex: [touch view].tag]; NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: filename ofType:@"m4a"]; theAudio=[[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path] error:NULL]; theAudio.delegate = self; [theAudio prepareToPlay]; [theAudio setNumberOfLoops:-1]; [theAudio setVolume: g_Volume]; [theAudio play]; }

  • Testing In-App-Billing with not published App

    - by Janusz
I have an Android App that uses In-App-Billing to sell Account Managed Items. I tested the App with the static respons ids and everything seems to work. I now want to test the App with real product Ids. I created the App in the Google Play Store and uploaded a draft Version of the App with the correct Permissions. I know created an In-App-Billing item and published the item. At the moment the App is unpublished, the item is created and published and I have a test account that is registered in the Profile of the developer account and is the only account on the device that I use for testing. The App is signed with the same key as the uploaded draft. Edit:I'm testing with Android 4.1 && 4.03 at the moment If I try to buy the item the Google Play Store pops up but shows a dialog with the following method: The item you requested is not available for purchase. How can I test buying the item without publishing the App?

  • auto m3u creation

    - by newbie69
Hi, I am looking for a solution to automatically create .m3u playlists for each music folder in my sdcard so that the music player can play music by folders. I had written a simple VB.Net app in the past that does exactly the above but apparently, it has to be run from Windows. Since I have no Java nor Android developing experience I found it quite hard to try to write a similar app that can be run directly from the phone. In a few words, the app does the following: 1) Searches the SD and lists all folders that contain 2 or more .mp3 files (just for user verification) 2) Creates in every listed folder above, a .m3u file that simply lists line-by-line all the mp3 files that exist in the specific folder. Is there such an app or could someone spare some time and give me some rough instructions on how to create it in Eclipse 3.5.2 environment? (device used: Motorola Droid/Milestone, Android 2.1) I don't care about any graphics or complex UI, just a script to execute the above procedure that would give every "playlist-supporting" music player in Android, the precious ability to play music by folders. I know it is too much to ask but just in case! Thanx in advance.

  • compiling and running java on windows

    - by artur grzesiak
I thought the task should be fairly easy, but my understanding of javac and java in general is rather poor. I am using Windows8 and would like to compile a single file.java that makes use of other classes. I successfully (at least without any warnings) compiled my file by calling: javac -cp relative_path_to_needed_classes relative_path_to_file_java\file.java Now if I want to run the result of compilation (file.class) by calling: java -cp relative_path_to_needed_classes relative_path_to_file_java\file I get: Error: Could not find or load main class relative_path_to_file_java\file I was trying a lot of combination to modify the -cp (eg. by adding .\;relative_path_to_file;) but still the closest where I get is: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : relative_path_to_file\file (wrong name: file) The file from (wrong name: file) is the name of the file and the name of the public class within the file. I was reading a lot on SO and other sources but could not figure out what is wrong. Btw. as a result of compilation some other classes were created: file$1.class file$name1.class file$name2.class (where name1 and name2 are names of private classes within file.java) My questions are: What is (the most) probably source of my error / what am I doing wrong? What is the purpose of file$1.class? What is the minimum I should specify in -cp? May encoding play any role? Do every java class have to reside in a package? (rather not directly related to my issue) Do order of paths specified in -cp play any role in runtime?

  • How to call Twiter's Streaming/Filter Feed with urllib2/httplib?

    - by Simon
Update: I switched this back from answered as I tried the solution posed in cogent Nick's answer and switched to Google's urlfetch: logging.debug("starting urlfetch for http://%s%s" % (self.host, self.url)) result = urlfetch.fetch("http://%s%s" % (self.host, self.url), payload=self.body, method="POST", headers=self.headers, allow_truncated=True, deadline=5) logging.debug("finished urlfetch") but unfortunately finished urlfetch is never printed - I see the timeout happen in the logs (it returns 200 after 5 seconds), but execution doesn't seem tor return. Hi All- I'm attempting to play around with Twitter's Streaming (aka firehose) API with Google App Engine (I'm aware this probably isn't a great long term play as you can't keep the connection perpetually open with GAE), but so far I haven't had any luck getting my program to actually parse the results returned by Twitter. Some code: logging.debug("firing up urllib2") req = urllib2.Request(url="http://%s%s" % (self.host, self.url), data=self.body, headers=self.headers) logging.debug("called urlopen for %s %s, about to call urlopen" % (self.host, self.url)) fobj = urllib2.urlopen(req) logging.debug("called urlopen") When this executes, unfortunately, my debug output never shows the called urlopen line printed. I suspect what's happening is that Twitter keeps the connection open and urllib2 doesn't return because the server doesn't terminate the connection. Wireshark shows the request being sent properly and a response returned with results. I tried adding Connection: close to my request header, but that didn't yield a successful result. • How to run javascript on an ajax output?

    - by WAC0020
I am using jquery-ui tabs and ajax to load the content of the tabs. Here is my javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $("#tabs").tabs({ fx: { opacity: 'toggle' } }); $('.hd_item').hover(function() { //Display the caption $(this).find('span.hd_caption').stop(false,true).fadeIn(600); }, function() { //Hide the caption $(this).find('span.hd_caption').stop(false,true).fadeOut(400); }); }); When the user clicks on the tab is will load the content.php via ajax. The output of the ajax is: <li class="hd_item"> <img title="Backyard Brawl" alt="Backyard Brawl" src="games/normal_icons/1844.png" id="hd_icon"> <span class="hd_caption"> <h1>Backyard Brawl</h1> <p id="hd_description">In this game you pick a player and beat each other up with ...</p> <p id="hd_stat">Added: <br>2009-12-14</p><a href="/dirtpilegames/index.php?ground=games&amp;action=play&amp;dig=backyard-brawl">PLAY</a> </span> </li> The problem that I am having is the javascript is not working on the ajax output. How to I get it to work on it?

  • A way to enable a LaunchDaemon to output sound?

    - by Varun Mehta
I have a small Foundation application that checks a website and plays a sound if it sees a certain value. This application successfully plays a sound when I run it as my user from the Terminal. I've configured this app to run as a LaunchDaemon, with the following plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Label</key> <string>org.myorg.appidentifier</string> <key>ProgramArguments</key> <array> <string>/Users/varunm/path/to/cli/application</string> </array> <key>KeepAlive</key> <true/> <key>RunAtLoad</key> <true/> </dict> </plist> When I have this service launched I can see it successfully read in and log values from the website, but it never generates any sound. The sound files are located in the same directory as the binary, and I use the following code: NSSound *soundToPlay = [[NSSound alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:@"sound.wav" byReference:NO]; [soundToPlay setDelegate:stopper]; [soundToPlay play]; while (g_keepRunning) { [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] runUntilDate:[NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:1.0]]; } [soundToPlay setCurrentTime:0.0]; Is there any way to get my LaunchDaemon application to play sound? This machine gets run by different people, and sometimes has no one logged in, which is why I have to configure it as a LaunchDaemon.

  • Passing data structures to different threads

    - by Robb
I have an application that will be spawning multiple threads. However, I feel there might be an issue with threads accessing data that they shouldn't be. I'm relatively new to threading so bare with me. Here is the structure of the threaded application (sorry for the crudeness): MainThread / \ / \ / \ Thread A Thread B / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ Thread A_1 Thread A_2 Thread B_1 Thread B_2 Under each lettered thread (which could be many), there will only be two threads and they are fired of sequentially. The issue i'm having is I'm not entirely sure how to pass in a datastructure into these threads. So, the datastructure is created in MainThread, will be modified in the lettered thread (Thread A, etc) specific to that thread and then a member variable from that datastructure is sent to Letter_Numbered threads. Currently, the lettered thread class has a member variable and when the class is constructed, the datastructure from mainthread is passed in by reference, invoking the copy constructor so the lettered thread has it's own copy to play with. The lettered_numbered thread simply takes in a string variable from the data structure within the lettered thread. My question is, is this accceptable? Is there a much better way to ensure each lettered thread gets its own data structure to play with? Sorry for the somewhat poor explanation, please leave comments and i'll try to clarify.

  • How can I initialize a QTMovie object with certain attributes using writable data?

    - by c-had
I'm trying to create an empty QTMovie object that I can add segments to, and then play. This is easy to do with something like: movie = [[QTMovie alloc] initToWritableData:[NSMutableData dataWithCapacity:1048576] error:&error]; I can then use -insertSegmentOfMovie to insert segments from other movies into this one so I can play it back. The problem is that I also need to set a certain attribute when creating the QTMovie object. In particular, I need to set the QTMovieRateChangesPreservePitchAttribute attribute, so that I can alter playback speed during playback without changing pitch. This attribute cannot be written after the movie is initialized. So, I can create the QTMovie object like this: movie = [[QTMovie alloc] initWithAttributes:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:[NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], QTMovieRateChangesPreservePitchAttribute, nil] error:&error]; Unfortunately, this is not editable. I've tried setting the QTMovieEditableAttribute as well on creation, but it does not help. I still get an exception when I try to insert anything into this movie. I presume this is because there is no writable file or data reference associated with the QTMovie. Any ideas on how to solve this?
