I have a movie in .avi format and I created the subtitles, now I would like to create a DVD that can be reproduced on a "regular" dvd player.
Any idea?
i am trying to set the environment variables in tcsh shell and it is not working. This is the syntax that i am using currently
setenv MYSQL_HOME=/opt/mysql/mysql/bin
my other question is i have a c-shell script that i am editing. Is setenv the same as a regular set MYSQL=${MYSQL_HOME}/bin/sqlplus?
set MYSQL_HOME=/opt/mysql/mysql/bin
or should i just set the MYSQL_HOME to where the mysql executable is ?
Hello,
I am using hamachi vpn. I want to setup windows 7 to use hamachi vpn network adapter for spesific softwares in my system. And other softwares must use regular network adapters. Is that possible in windows 7? Is there kind of filter system?
Thanks in advance.
When I start Apple QuickTime (regular non-pro version), it comes up with this page of content including "Hot Picks", "Quick Hits" and other advertising, which I assume it is getting from the internet.
How do I turn this off? I just want it to open the blank player, ready for me to play a file etc and not connect to the internet.

Is it possible to install Mac OS X on customized hardware?
Well, I don't think its possible - but I'm curious why not - but can someone install Mac OS's on Intel machines? For along time the architecture was different RISC vs x86, but then later they moved to x86, so how difficult is it to install Snow Leopard on a regular Wintel laptop / desktop?
Can anyone recommend a DVD format converter which runs under ubuntu 9.04? I need to convert a DivX format into a regular DVD, but converters for other formats would be helpful (to me and others) as well. Free software would be nice but non-free is okay too.
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a decent flat-rate backup service which supports Windows Server?
I've investigated the following:
Backblaze - no WS support, sales say they have a "no server" policy
JungleDisk - not flat rate
Mozy - no WS on regular edition, no flat-rate on Pro edition
Dropbox - no flat rate
Carbonite - technically flat rate, but throttles uploads to modem speeds
EDIT: Very similar question:
Is there a decent flat-rate online backup solution for Linux machines?
What is the cheapest solution to be able to remotely power cycle a regular 120V outlet via ethernet? I've seen solutions like iBoot, but they're really expensive. Is there a cheap way to remotely power cycle equipment?
Is there a way of configuring a nagios check that a smtp service is correctly configured and emails are going out.
I have a check that the service is running, but recently we noticed that the configuration had been altered and no emails where going out, but the service was still running.
One idea I had was to schedule a regular email to be sent, is it possible for nagios to check for that email and throw an alert if it didn't detect it?
Any other ideas to monitor this gratefully received.
Hi there
i just find that is useful to listen audio books, but when it is about tacking notices, the play/pause, adding bookmarks is impossible with the regular players(windows media player, vlc, bsplayer, winamp). Do you know a better alternative to that?
Hi,
I've just installed Windows 7 RTM and setup Windows VPN to work office. It all works fine except, when the VPN is connected, regular web access stops working eg: local web browser can't connect to anything. Disconnect VPN and web works again.
I've tried re-ordering the priorities of network adaptors with no luck. I'm not sure where to look next. Any ideas?

Hello
I'm looking for computer cases that don't look like regular PC's in case customers would like to keep it on their desktop so it has to look stylish. I liked the Cobalt Cube:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_Qube
Does someone know if some company makes cases that look the same (I know about Shuttle : they're too pricey), and possibly one that has a really quiet power supply?
Thank you.
My question is very specifically about solid state drives, not regular hard drives. I would like to put in place a grandfather-father-son backup scheme, with the SSDs being used for the grandfather and father portions, and the yearly grandfather would be locked in a safe offsite for maybe 5-10 years. Can I expect that after this period of time the data would be preserved as well as it would be on a tape?
I am using WebDAV on Linux box with davfs2 1.4.6. When I copy a file to a mounted WebDAV service, it is goes rather fast, just like a regular local drive operation. And it actually is, because the file is first copied to ~/.davf2/cache directory. But how do I know that uploading is finished and where do I see current progress? Is there a way to know that uploading failed due to lack of space or file size restrictions?
Hi, in my keyboard the command key is mapped to the windows key (I'm using a regular PC keyboard) so I only have a left command, because the space on the right is occupied by the useless Fn key.
I've used Ukelele and also edited keyboard mappings but that's for printable characters, doesn't actually allow you to map modifier keys on the keyboard.
Thanks!
Do you know any way to introduce a notification feature to putty client? I would like to setup some regular expressions or simply text strings and be notified (by sound or some tooltip) when this content appears in stdout.
If not specific in putty, how can I get it done?
There used to be a similar feature in older version of KDE's konsole terminal, but even now I can't see it.
I've backup from my Gmail account at Outlook 2010 beta. I see a pst file which is equal file size with my Gmail used storage. Is this file enough to protect my mails or do I need additional files or whatever? I'm not a regular outlook user. I've read this but I don't think I'm using "Signatures, Templates, Stationery etc."...
If the use the following scp command then I get an error:
scp -P 22 [email protected]: /home/username/public_html/* ./
The error I get is:
stdin: is not a tty
scp: .: not a regular file
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for help.
I make regular snapshots of my VM using a nightly script. These backups are compressed using WinRAR and do shrink considerably, but I suspect it's not as efficient as had the file had been deduplicated first (just a hunch which I'm hoping to test).
So instead of compressing the VHD itself, I would like to deduplicate the single file first, and then compress the output of the deduplicator.
Is anyone aware of such a CLI tool?
I am getting some error messages on my Windows Mobile Device(v6.1). How can I capture the Error Screen-shots on Windows Mobile? I am looking something like Print-Screen option in regular Desktop Windows OS.
I'm just learning to use sftp, and I want to copy a directory from the remote computer to my local computer. If I try
get [directory]
it gives me this error:
Cannot download non-regular file: /home/mpirocch/Documents
get -R doesn't work, either.
I sometimes get .mp4 and other video formats whose aspect ratio is clearly off
What apps do you use to reconvert such videos to an aspect ratio better suited to to fit either a regular desktop or LCD screen size?
Hopefully with little or no loss of audio/video quality
Any instructions on best settings to use would be very welcome. I have so far mostly used vlc which came off with less-than-ideal results.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
