Iam quite new to functions in SQL and I would like to create a function to compare values in a MySQL table against previous and I am not sure how to do this.
For example (iId is the input value)
DECLARE pVal INT(20);
DECLARE val INT(20);
SELECT price INTO pVal FROM products WHERE Id=iId;
SELECT price FROM products;
IF price == pVal THEN
SET val = price;
END IF;
Thanks

I'm running program at apache tomcat server, that should be on permanently, but every morning(the client part isn't accessible at night) i receive error message (in apache tomcat console) that MySQL server is off. So is there any way to prevent this?
Thanks in advance!
I have a classified_id variable which matches one document in a MySql table.
I am currently fetching the information about that one record like this:
SELECT * FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id
I wonder if there is a faster approach, for example like this:
SELECT 1 FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id
Wont the last one only select 1 record, which is exactly what I need, so that it doesn't have to scan the entire table but instead stops searching for records after 1 is found?
Or am I dreaming this?
Thanks
I have a .sql file from a MySQL dump containing tables definitions and the data to be inserted in this tables. How can I convert this database represented in the dump file into a MS SQL server database?
Hello,
I am trying to insert data into a mysql table from a csv file. I am using the infile sql command, but I am having trouble because the first column of the table is an id that is set as an auto increment field. what do I have to set my first column value to in order to get this to work, or can I do it at all?
Thanks
I have a mysql query where a subquery is:
BETWEEN '5.00' AND '10.00'
And this returns no results.
However when I use Floats or Ints:
BETWEEN 5 and 10
it works
The BETWEEN query also works for other values AS strings, but just not for 5 and 10.
EG:
BETWEEN '4' AND '5'
works.
How could this be?
My current process for debugging stored procedures is very simple. I create a table called "debug" where I insert variable values from the stored procedure as it runs. This allows me to see the value of any variable at a given point in the script, but is this is there a better way to debug MySQL stored procedures?
I have this mysql query:
SELECT *
FROM Customer c
JOIN eHRDemographic ehD ON ehD.CxID = c.CustomerID
JOIN CustPrimaryWeight cpW ON cpW.CxID = c.CustomerID
WHERE c.CustomerID =22703
GROUP BY c.CustomerID
ORDER BY cpW.CustPrimaryWeightID DESC
This doesn't really work correctly as the CustPrimaryWeight table has multiple enteries and it's simply joining the first entry and not the more recent one as the ORDER statement doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas?
If I have a Parent and Child table in MySQL related by a foreign key, is it possible using a SQL statement to move certain rows from Parent and the related rows from Child into archive tables (e.g. Parent_Archive and Child_Archive) in an atomic manner?
Is it possible to assign php array in MySQL IN() function? for example,
$numbers = array('8001254656','8886953265','88864357445','80021536245');
$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `number_table` WHERE `number` IN ($numbers)");
Any Ideas?

Is MySQL 5.0 not supported yet ??

I've created a salt using; md5(rand(0,10000000)); (there is probably a better way?)
There doesn't seem to be possible to make a text field unique in MYSQL. So how do I check if the salt has already been used for a previous user?
Or should I generate the salt based on the current date/time? as it is impossible for 2 users to register at exactly the same time correct?

I am using mysql and there are bulk inserts that goes on to my table.

SET @fname = 'point1';
SELECT * FROM country WHERE name=@fname;`

$query = "SET @fname = 'point1';";
$query .= "SELECT * FROM country WHERE name=@fname;";
I had the below query working in mysql 4.1, but does not in 5.0:
SELECT * FROM email e, event_email ee
LEFT JOIN member m on m.email=e.email
WHERE ee.email_id = e.email_id
The error:
1054 (Unknown column 'e.email' in 'on clause')
