  • why does calling methods on a div fire the live click event

    - by oo
i have this jquery code: $(this).parent('.copyFoodInstance').attr("myset", "0"); $(this).parent('.copyFoodInstance').html("<img BORDER=0 src='../../images/copy1.png' />"); it seems that when i call this code, this event fires: $(document).ready(function() { $('div.copyFoodInstance').live('click', function() { does anyone know why this event fires from the lines above? is there anyway to stop if from firing? All i am doing is updating an attribute on the div and updating the html. this shouldn't fire a click event?

  • How do I clear MVC client side validation errors when a cancel button is clicked when a user has inv

    - by Sci-fi
I have a partial view that is rendered within a main view. The partial view takes advantage of System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations and Html.EnableClientValidation(). A link is clicked, and div containing the partial view is displayed within a JQuery.Dialog(). I then click the save button without entering any text in my validated input field. This causes the client side validation to fire as expected, and display the '*required' message beside the invalid field. When the cancel button is clicked, I want to reset the client side MVC validation back to it's default state and remove any messages, ready for when the user opens the dialog again. Is there a recommended way of doing this?

  • Rails Rspec testing not saving a transactional model

    - by NolanDC
I'm currently testing my Rails controllers using RSpec. In one controller, I have a model that uses transactions, so that it will not be saved unless another nested model (whose data is filled in using fields_for) is also saved correctly. The tests hit a snag when they reach the transaction. Some debugging output proves that the model is valid and ready to save. However, upon entering the transaction block, the model does not save. Even stranger, the code never reaches the else clause of "if model.save" (It does, however, enter the transaction block). I can only assume this is a problem with my testing a transactional model. Any ideas/hints/solutions?

  • Document width calculated via Javascript is different in Firefox compared to other browsers

    - by Scarpelius
I have a problem with retrieving the current page document width from Mozilla Firefox. While the rest of the browsers report the correct width of the document, Firefox reports a smaller one (example: at screen resolution of 1920x1080 IE, Chrome and Safari reports 1920 while Firefox reports 1903). I use document width in $(document).ready(function() { ... }); to reposition a div element. Funny this is that after using alert() inside this function, the element reposition correctly, though the document size is still smaller than other browsers.

  • Difference between User Control and Custom Control Library

    - by Rod
I'm working on creating a date/time user control in WPF using C# 2008. My first user control. I'm also using Matthew MacDonald's book, "Pro WPF in C# 2008". In that book he strongly recommended creating a user control using the WPF Custom Control Library project template; so I followed his suggestion. I've finished writing the code which would go into what I think of as the code-behind file. Now I'm ready to write the XAML. The only problem is, I just discovered there is no corresponding .xaml file? So, I don't get why using a WPF Custom Control Library project is better, or prefered, when writing a user control?

  • JQuery not working in IE7/8

    - by user1665283
I have been given the following code to implement: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('.hotspots a').bind('mouseover click', function() { $this = $(this); if($('.hotspot-target').data('hotspot')!=$this.attr('href')) { $('.hotspot-target').data('hotspot', $this.attr('href')); $('.hotspot-target').fadeOut(100, function() { $('.hotspot-target').css({backgroundImage: 'url('+$this.attr('href')+')'}); $('.hotspot-target .detail').hide(); $('.hotspot-target .detail.'+$this.attr('class')).show(); $('.hotspot-target').fadeIn(100); }); } return false; }) }); </script> It works fine in FF and Chrome with no errors in the console. I also can't see any errors in the IE debugger, though I'm not so used to how that works. Is there anything obviously wrong with the above code? It's placed at the end of the page

  • How to hide/show div using jQuery without altering dimensions?

    - by Byron S
I have a div that is holding a google chart: <div id="chart_div" style="width: 600px; height: 300px;"></div> It has one CSS property: display: none. On the click of a button, I would like to have the chart be displayed using jQuery hide() and show(). It's working, however, the chart's dimensions are set to something different than I have specified and refuse to change to what I have specified. Here is my jquery code: $(document).ready(function(){ var chart = $('#chart_div'); $('#submit').click(function(){ chart.show('slow'); }); }); Let me know if theres any more code you would like to see. By the way, the chart div is not being contained in anything else so that isn't the problem.

  • store in a variable only the first or only the second class of an element

    - by shecky
I'm using this bit of jQ to add a class to two different elements based on the class of another (parent/grandparent, etc) element: $(document).ready(function(){ var containerClass = $('#main-content').attr('class'); $('#nav-primary li#'+containerClass).addClass('active'); $('#aux-left div[id$='+containerClass+']').addClass('active'); }); Brilliant, but I have two problems with it: First, when there's no class at all in <div id="main-content">, the 'active' class is added to all the #nav-primary LIs, and also to all the #aux-left DIVs; how can I modify this so that in the absence of any class on #main-content, do nothing? Second, how can I target only the first or second of multiple classes to store in the 'containerClass' variable, e.g., <div id="main-content" class="apples bananas">? Very much appreciated! svs

  • AppendTo, does it change the DOM?

    - by JD
Hi, I have two list boxes and some JQuery function that does the following: $(document).ready(function () { //If you want to move selected item from fromListBox to toListBox $("#AddButton").click(function () { $("#fromListBox option:selected").appendTo("#toListBox"); }); }); I have a button that when clicked moves items from one list to another. This works, however when I do "View Page Source" in chrome, the list contains the original list and not the newly added items. I expected appendTo to change the DOM but clearly this is not what is happening. Why is this? JD

  • jquery selection with .not()

    - by Yako
Hello, I have some troubles with jQuery. I have a set of Divs with .square classes. Only one of them is supposed to have an .active class. This .active class may be activated/de-activated onClick. Here is my code : jQuery().ready(function() { $(".square").not(".active").click(function() { //initialize $('.square').removeClass('active'); //activation $(this).addClass('active'); // some action here... }); $('.square.active').click(function() { $(this).removeClass('active'); }); }); My problem is that the first function si called, even if I click on an active .square, as if the selector was not working. In fact, this seems to be due to the addClass('active') line... Would you have an idea how to fix this ? Thanks

  • jQuery - How to Prevent Animation Queue Buildup with Double Animations?

    - by Jason
Hello, I was taking a look at this tutorial here to prevent animation buildups: http://www.learningjquery.com/2009/01/quick-tip-prevent-animation-queue-buildup My situation: I am doing a double animation like this below, and would like the prevent the animation build up. Since I have 2 animations going, it seems it ignores the .stop(). What can be done to prevent this? I have tried .stop() on both .animate and if I do that it stops animating... $(document).ready(function() { $('#element').hover(function() { $(this).stop() .animate( { left: 200 }, { duration: 'slow', }) .animate( { top: 200 }, { duration: 'slow', }); } , function() { $(this).stop() .animate( { left: 0 }, { duration: 'slow', }) .animate( { top: 0 }, { duration: 'slow', }); }); }); Any help will be greatly aprecaited!!

  • Translate This git_parse_function to zsh?

    - by yar
I am using this function in Bash function parse_git_branch { git_status="$(git status 2> /dev/null)" pattern="^# On branch ([^${IFS}]*)" if [[ ! ${git_status}} =~ "working directory clean" ]]; then state="*" fi # add an else if or two here if you want to get more specific if [[ ${git_status} =~ ${pattern} ]]; then branch=${BASH_REMATCH[1]} echo "(${branch}${state})" fi } but I'm determined to use zsh. While I can use this perfectly as a shell script (even without a shebang) in my .zshrc the error is a parse error on this line if [[ ! ${git_status}}... What do I need to do to get it ready for zshell? Note: I realize the answer could be "go learn zsh syntax," but I was hoping for a quick hand with this if it's not too difficult.

  • Alternatives to FastDateFormat for efficient date parsing?

    - by Tom Tucker
Well aware of performance and thread issues with SimpleDateFormat, I decided to go with FastDateFormat, until I realized that FastDateFormat is for formatting only, no parsing! Is there an alternative to FastDateFormat, that is ready to use out of the box and much faster than SimpleDateFormat? I believe FastDateFormat is one of the faster ones, so anything that is about as fast would do. Just curious , any idea why FastDateFormat does not support parsing? Doesn't it seriously limit its use? Thanks! EDIT Holy crap, I just left a comment and that literally REMOVED a good answer! This appears a serious bug on stackoverflow!

  • jQuery Syntax Question, pretty easy I think..

    - by Fuego DeBassi
Hi all, question: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".module .caption").hide(); $(".module").hover(function() { $(this).find(".caption").slideDown(); },function() { $(this).find(".caption").slideUp(); }); }); </script> This snippet works great for my purposes, the only caveat is that I need the .module hover function to simultaneously add a class of "under" to all other ".caption"'s that are not $this, and then remove them when the hover ends. So basically I don't want the "module" that is hovered to get the class, I want it to do exactly what I am showing here...sliding .caption up and down on end hover, I just want all other ".caption"s to get the under class when any ".module" is hovered. Just hitting a dead end with what I have been trying, want to do it in the same function. Any ideas?

  • Form variable does not refresh with ajax call

    - by ChrisOPeterson
    I'm building a simple email sending form and wanted to make it with ajax. The form submits correctly the first time but if you make any subsequent changes to the text in the form and then submit again then jquery does not pick up on the changes and posts the old data. Whats going on? <script type="text/javascript"> var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { var submit_url = "mail_submit.php"; var send_email = $j("#sendemail"); send_email.click(function() { var form = $j("#post"); $j.post(submit_url, form.serialize(), function(data) { alert(data); }); }); });

  • Toggle alternative

    - by Nutmeg
In a contactform I am using both the jQuery validation plug-in 1.3 and the following (slide) script: $(document).ready(function() { // Expand Panel $("#open").click(function(){ $("div#contact").slideDown("slow"); }); // Collapse Panel $("#close").click(function(){ $("div#contact").slideUp("bounce"); }); // Switch buttons from "Log In | Register" to "Close Panel" on click $("#toggle a").click(function () { $("#toggle a").toggle(); }); }); Problem is that the validation plug-in 1.3 uses the following segment: addWrapper:function(toToggle){if(this.settings.wrapper)toToggle.push(toToggle.parents(this.settings.wrapper));return toToggle;}, which conflicts with the slide code. What's the smartest way to go about this? Using the toggleClass instead? Thanks for your help!
