  • How to position columns in select list based on a variable.

    - by Rohit
I am creating a dynamic grid which is created by selecting the format defined in the below XML.My select list includes all columns in this XML,I want to position these columns columns on the basic of position attribute in XML. <gridFormat> <column property="CustomerID" dbName="CustName" HeaderText="Customer" IsVisible="0" Position="1" /> <column property="CustomerName" dbName="FacilityName" HeaderText="Facility" IsVisible="1" Position="3" /> <column property="FacilityInternalID" dbName="Pname" HeaderText="Patient" IsVisible="1" Position="2" /> </gridFormat> I cannot select them in the order specified by the position attribute. I can do it in C# by looping around the returned datatable and specifically position columns using datatable.columns.setordinal() method. Is there any better way in SQL or C# to accomplish this.

  • Style question: Writing "this." before instance variable and methods: good or bad idea?

    - by Uri
One of my nasty (?) programming habits in C++ and Java is to always precede calls or accesses to members with a this. For example: this.process(this.event). A few of my students commented on this, and I'm wondering if I am teaching bad habits. My rationale is: 1) Makes code more readable — Easier to distinguish fields from local variables. 2) Makes it easier to distinguish standard calls from static calls (especially in Java) 3) Makes me remember that this call (unless the target is final) could end up on a different target, for example in an overriding version in a subclass. Obviously, this has zero impact on the compiled program, it's just readability. So am I making it more or less readable? Related Question Note: I turned it into a CW since there really isn't a correct answer.

  • What's the best way to pass a PHP variable to Javascript?

    - by Gregory Bolkenstijn
I currently echo certain variables in hidden input fields and read them out with Javascript whenever I need them. Me and a colleague are now thinking of generating an extra Javascript file with PHP which only contains all variables for Javascript. This way the variables already exist and there is no extra code in the HTML. What are good ways to pass variables from PHP to Javascript? And how does our solution sound?

  • [Android] How do I load URL that requires login into variable?

    - by bebeTech
I am trying to port my usage meter from a JavaScript Gadget (win) / Widget (OSX) to Android. Total newbie when comes to JAVA + Eclipse + Android 2.1 SDK. Essentially what I want to do is load a page, pass through a username and password and load the resulting page into a array that I can then run some regular expressions through. My code from JavaScript (I've replace the actual URL with a dummy one) is: xmlhttp.open("post","https://acme.com.au/your_account/index.php?function=login",false); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.send("check_username=" + username + "&password=" + password); I need to know the Android equivalent to the above please. I've played around with WebView but that loads the page in a web browser which isn't what I want.

  • Variable inside of the markup for an asp:HyperLink NavigationUrl property?

    - by RichAmberale
Hi, I'm new to ASP.NET and can't figure out how to accomplish this... My code (that needs fixing): <asp:HyperLink runat="server" NavigateUrl="~/EditReport.aspx?featureId=<%= featureId %>" ImageUrl="~/new.gif" /> featureId gets defined as an integer in the backing code. I want href's like... /EditReport.aspx?featureId=2224 ...but instead I am getting... /EditReport.aspx?featureId=<%= featureId %>

  • Assigning a value to a variable gets stored in the wrong spot?

    - by scribbloid
    Hello, I'm relatively new to C, and this is baffling me right now. It's part of a much larger program, but I've written this little program to depict the problem I'm having. #include <stdio.h> int main() { signed int tcodes[3][1]; tcodes[0][0] = 0; tcodes[0][1] = 1000; tcodes[1][0] = 1000; tcodes[1][1] = 0; tcodes[2][0] = 0; tcodes[2][1] = 1000; tcodes[3][0] = 1000; tcodes[3][1] = 0; int x, y, c; for(c = 0; c <= 3; c++) { printf("%d %d %d\r\n", c, tcodes[c][0], tcodes[c][1]); x = 20; y = 30; } } I'd expect this program to output: 0 0 1000 1 1000 0 2 0 1000 3 1000 0 But instead, I get: 0 0 1000 1 1000 0 2 0 20 3 20 30 It does this for any number assigned to x and y. For some reason x and y are overriding parts of the array in memory. Can someone explain what's going on? Thanks!

  • How can I safely decide if a variable is a string of more than one characters?

    - by Alan
I am using the following Javascript: if (typeof content !== 'undefined' && content.length > 0) { $state.transitionTo('admin.content', { content: content }) } I thought this was safe to use but it gives me an error saying: TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of null I am using the following function to decide if something is a number: isNumber: function (num) { // Return false if num is null or an empty string if (num === null || (typeof num === "string" && num.length === 0)) { return false; } var rtn = !isNaN(num) return rtn; }, How can I write a similar function that would very safely determine if something is a string with a length of more than 0?

  • In asp classic: How can I make sure that a variable can be cast as an int?

    - by Tchalvak
The following function was suggested to me: ' Defines a forced casting function, which "casts" anything that it can't detect as a number to zero. Function MakeInteger(val) If IsNumeric(val) Then MakeInteger = CInt(val) Else MakeInteger = 0 End If End Function Unfortunately there appear to be some things that return true for IsNumeric() but still can't be cast as an int. Is there any better check to use?

  • PHP: How do I rename a directory where the parent directory is variable?

    - by gsquare567
i would like to move the files inside uploads/pension/#SOME_VARIABLE_NUMBER#/#SOME_CONSTANT_NUMBER#/ here is my code: // move pension statements // located at uploads/pension/%COMPANY_ID%/%USER_ID%/%HASH% // so just move the %USER_ID% folder to the new company $oldPensionDir = "uploads/pension/" . $demo_user[Users::companyID] . "/" . $demo_user[Users::userID] . "/"; $newPensionDir = "uploads/pension/" . $newCompanyID . "/" . $demo_user[Users::userID] . "/"; // see if the user had any files, and if so, move them if(file_exists($oldPensionDir)) { // if it doesnt exist, make it if(!file_exists($newPensionDir)) mkdir($newPensionDir); // move the folder rename($oldPensionDir, $newPensionDir); } however... when i need to make the directory with the "mkdir" function, i get: mkdir() [<a href='function.mkdir'>function.mkdir</a>]: No such file or directory ok, maybe the mkdir won't work, but what about the rename? perhaps that will make the directory if it's not there... nope! rename(uploads/pension/1001/783/,uploads/pension/1000/783/) [<a href='function.rename'>function.rename</a>]: The system cannot find the path specified. (code: 3) so, there are two errors. i'm pretty sure if the renaming works, i won't even need the mkdir, but who knows... can anyone tell me why these are errors and how to fix them? thanks!

  • How to pass a variable to an awk print parameter...

    - by Jamie
    I'm trying extract the nth + 1 and nth + 3 columns from a file. This is what tried, which is a useful pseudo code: for i in {1..100} ; do awk -F "," " { printf \"%3d, %12.3f, %12.3f\\n\", \$1, \$($i+1), \$($i+3) } " All_Runs.csv > Run-$i.csv which, obviously doesn't work (but it seemed reasonable to hope). How can I do this?

  • are there requirements for Struts setters beyond variable name matching?

    - by slk
I have a model-driven Struts Web action: public class ModelDrivenAction<T extends Object> implements ModelDriven<T>, Preparable { protected Long id; protected T model; @Override public void prepare() {} public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } @Override public T getModel() { return model; } public void setModel(T model) { this.model = model; } } I have another action which is not currently model-driven: public class OtherAction implements Preparable { private ModelObj modelObj; private Long modelId; @Override public void prepare() { modelObj = repoService.retrieveModelById(modelId); } public void setModelId(Long modelId) { this.modelId = modelId; } } I wish to make it so, and would like to avoid having to track down all the instances in JavaScript where the action is passed a "modelId" parameter instead of "id" if at all possible. I thought this might work, so either modelId or id could be passed in: public class OtherAction extends ModelDrivenAction<ModelObj> { @Override public void prepare() { model = repoService.retrieveModelById(id); } public void setModelId(Long modelId) { this.id = modelId; } } However, server/path/to/other!method?modelId=123 is failing to set id. I thought so long as a setter matched a parameter name the Struts interceptor would call it on action invocation. Am I missing something here?

  • With javascript, is it possible to define a variable's name with another string value?

    - by Joren
Example, I have an array called 'categories' with the value ['4','9']. I'm trying to use that value with the name of a previously defined array. I have several arrays defined earlier called row1, row2, row3 etc. I'm also using jQuery. Trying to do something like this: for (i=0; i<categories.length; i++) { row+categories[i].push($(this).attr('id')); console.log(row+categories[i]); } Obviously row+categories[i] doesn't work, but maybe gives you an idea of what I'm trying to do? In this case to push that id value onto the array 'row4' the first time it loops through and then 'row9' the second time. Thanks for your help!!

  • Send mail to multiple recipient

    - by Ahmad Maslan
    Hi, i have already research on using the mail() to send to multiple recipient's but i just cant get it to work. What im trying to do is, for every order that i have, order 1,2,3, each having their own email addresses, when i change their order status from pending to confirm, the mail() will use that id to refer to the db table and send the email of those 3 orders. But for my case, it mailed just the latest order which is order 3. This is the form that i use to change the order status. <form action="results-action" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <fieldset> <table id ="table_id" class="display"> <thead> <tr><td><h2>Pending Order</h2></td></tr> <tr> <th scope="col">Order ID</th> <th scope="col"> </th> <th scope="col">Name</th> <th scope="col">Address</th> <th scope="col">Product Name</th> <th scope="col">Produt Quantity</th> <th scope="col">Price</th> <th scope="col">Order status</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <?php while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <tr> <td><input type="text" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>' name="orderid" id="virtuemart_order_id"></td> <td><input type="hidden" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_product_id']?>' name="productid" id="virtuemart_product_id"></td> <td><?=$row['first_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['address_1']?></td> <td><?=$row['order_item_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_quantity']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_final_price'] ?></td> <td><select name='change[<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>]'> <option value='C'> Confirmed</option> <option value='X'> Cancelled</option></select></td> </tr> <?php } ?> </tbody> </table> </fieldset> <fieldset> <table> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="Update status" name="update status"> </td> </tr> </table> </fieldset> </form> This is the php, using the order id from the form to select the email addresses. <?php $orderid = $_POST['orderid']; // build SQL statement to select email addresses $query3 = "SELECT email from ruj3d_virtuemart_order_userinfos where virtuemart_order_id = '$orderid'"; // execute SQL statement $result3 = mysqli_query($link, $query3) or die(mysqli_error($link)); $subject = "Order confirmed by Home and decor"; $message = "Hello! This is a message to inform that your order has been confirmed"; $from = "[email protected]"; $headers = "From: $from"; while($row3 = mysqli_fetch_array($result3)){ $addresses[] = $row3['email']; } $to = implode(",", $addresses); mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers); ?>

  • How to set variable size for List control item in Flex?

    - by joejax
The following code display a list of comments using List control. The item height set to a fixed value (150), so it seems working: if the content is too long, the scrollbar shows... However, what I really want is not to set the height but let it to change according to the content size. Is there any way to accomplish this? <mx:List id="commentList" width="100%" dataProvider="{commentSet.commentArrayColl}" rowCount="{commentSet.commentArrayColl.length}" > <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:VBox width="100%" height="150" > <mx:Text text="{data.commentContent}" /> <mx:Text text="{data.username} ({data.modified})"/> </mx:VBox> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:List>

  • Is it possible to raise an error if a variable assignment in a select returns multiple values?

    - by Brann
I just found a bug on one of my softwares where I had forgotten a where clause. The code was something like that : declare @foo bigint declare @bar bigint select @foo = foo, @bar=bar from tbFooBar where (....a long list of condition goes there) (... and an extra condition should have went there but I forgot it) Unfortunately, the where clause I forgot was useful in very specific corner cases and the code went through testing successfully. Eventually, the query returned two values instead of one, and the resulting bug was a nightmare to track down (as it was very difficult to reproduce, and it wasn't obvious at all that this specific stored procedure was causing the issue we spotted) Debugging would have been a lot easier if the @foo=foo had raised an exception instead of silently assigning the first value out of multiple rows. Why is that this way? I can't think of a situation where one would actually want to do that without raising an error (bearing in mind the clauses 'distinct' and 'top' are there for a reason) And is there a way to make sql server 2008 raise an error if this situation occurs ?
